We're very, very pissed off.

rohit karn batra - September 06, 2005

Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived.

I see all this potential, and I see squandering.

God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars.

Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war...

our Great Depression is our lives.

We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact.

And we're

very, very pissed off.

- Tyler Durden

one of the great under-rated films in histroy. and you picked a jewel of a line to highlight

I love the part of workign to buys stuff we dont need. I also love the line "The first rule of fight club is that you dont speak of fight club."
One of my all time favourtite movies.

Thank you for this Quote. One of my all-time favourite films. I will have to sit down and watch it again, it has been a while. Now here is an interesting choice for a Guru: Tyler Durden. Which is proof for the fact that the real Guru lies within all of us. In a very disturbing way though.

i luv the movie.... i luv tyler... and i refer to the him often... as a matter of fact the latest post on my blog has a reference to him... but what is the point that you are trying to make with this post? did you just see the movie and was so awestruck by it that you felt compelled to make this post? well, frankly speaking, i m not able to decipher the motive behind this post.. so please clarify :)

Am I the only one who doesn't know what movie is being referenced?

Ah, anarchy. All around us. The fomentation of change. Rebellion, yes, being pissed off. Like our American forebears, pissed off, yelling, "no taxation without representation." No stealing from us. Declaration of Independence, putting one's name on a document that would make one a marked man, for life possibly.
Fight Club! It is a spiritual war. It is a big fat "F*** YOU! to the insidious tyranny of coroporate culture, the great post-industrial plantation where we all pick virtual cotton for our massas. And we're all tranquilized, by corporate TV, by sex, popularized and legalized by my generation, booze, lots and lots of booze, drugs, corporate sports, cars, toys, technologies, spending our empty scrip on more and more shit, just to keep us from waking up and boiing over en masse in pain, rage and total breakdown. Comfortable sleepy slavery.
That's what Fight Club, the amazing ballsy sanity inducing film is about. Finding meaning in the Matrix, which is there for them, not us. It's never for us. Always for them. Fight Club is for us! It is about being alive, it is about animal essence real life, beyond the cubicle. And the fight is there inside, waiting for you to punch out of your middle-class womb and rip some ass! Fight Club! Not for the comfortable.
