Gotham Chopra - November 09, 2005
Yay you really love me...sort of. My comments numbers have dropped off steeply since the days of long ago when I could pretty much write anything and feel the love. These days I'm getting beat by my younger cousin (which really is not fair since he just ripped off Steve Jobs commencement speech) as well as various dudes and dudettes that I hand picked and brought into this blog - u know you are - check your breaks before you drive...
Okay so some of my blogs are barely breaking single digits for comments. But if you read the fine print in some of them - they're signed "good luck" and "love" and stuff like that - and not just from my mother-in-law. That’s real folks…
And well even if I'm not getting the love I once did, at least I'm still blogging! I won’t name names - actually yes I will Sumant, Jay, Rahul, Ayesha, and many many more - who apparently couldn't take the heat, so fled the kitchen so to speak. That's right I'm talking about you guys who probably will never see this! You all give blogging a bad name!
And then there's my own direct family - Mallika and my dad who are so full of hope and peace and serenity - that it really makes me wonder if I am the adopted cynical son that Mallika swore I was all through my childhood (how's that for a PROMISE?!!) And Shekhar - don’t think you can avoid my wrath - pictures and poems of the dis-possessed. Or Shahrukh freaking Khan?!!! How am I supposed to compete with that? More stripper stories? I’ll do it if I have to. I am going to Vegas this weekend…
Oh to be a blogger, to rely on your acceptance, your approval, your comments that have nothing to do with my post but are just dialogue or debate between some of you (I don't mind – it still counts). Come on people - for old time’s sake - show me the love!

Gotham...lol... I can't believe you linked to your stripper article :) Hey, we love you even if you're not funny!
Really, what do numbers have to do with love? It's about quality, not si..I mean quantity :D
I post comments in serious articles, but read your blogs and really enjoy your attitude and honesty, Gotham. In many of your light hearted posts, I don't feel the need to comment because I feel there is nothing debatable or left unsaid. Silence can at times be taken as concurrence, and at other times irrelevance :-)
Back to seriousness, I do look forward to your promised description of the new venture when the time is ready.
If you care to, please share with us your opinions on science versus spirituality and religious tolerance and war/peace. You will be amazed at how many comments you will receive both love and hate, and you won't feel neglected :-)
I liked your "F bomb" post the best so far!
LMFAO!!!!!!! (seriously I'm like in tears here) Your so real it's f@#*@n awesome, I luv ya!
HI Gotham,
My husband loved your stripper story. In fact he e-mailed me one day a few weeks aga to say, did you read Gotham's stripper story from way back. Of course I had to search back and find it. Hilarious! And very human in so many ways. I enjoy that you seem to be honest and upfront about who you are. Whether you're feeling hopeful and peaceful or cynical and resorting to (this was hard for me to imagine any sensible person doing!) reading a subscription to that magazine. My god I can't even recall the name, but you know what I'm referring to!
Okay, so we all have our flaws. Thanks for letting it all hang out.
Love,
Kristin
Now Gotham,
remember what your first grade teacher told you...its not who wins that counts, its what you learned. Or in this case its not who has the most posts its how much we learned from you. I found both the stripper and the fbomb story to have tremendous educational value!
Thanks for keeping it real!
Gotham you're my favorite. As AK said, you rarely write on contentious topics so people just read the posts and move on. Also, I like the variety of your posts. Also I love that you don't get all holier than thou. Also I love your general style and flair. Could probably go on and on but will leave some points for the others :)
You should buy a dog, they really have a way of making you feel like the most important person on earth :-)
Seriously.
I also don't comment often; it's intimidating to be in such clever company! but I really enjoy reading your posts so please keep writing them.
Hi Gotham,
You just keep blogging and I will be there to read it. Your posts always cheer me up.
BTW - I really enjoyed your book!.
Gotham,
I always read your blog...honestly...even if i log for 2 minutes i always read yours. I may not always post a comment...I know your stomach flu and your hollywood gossips, you closed a deal, went to italy...
As per SRK...i hope he is reading and following the comments and should post something down the line maybe a reply.I like Mallika,Shekhar and Kavita's blog because they interract with the readers.I coul've read his take on paheli anywhere blog is a medium where you can interract.
Gotham -
Who loves you more than we do baby?
Peace,
Scott.
I love you, Gotham. I think this is the second time I responded on this site (there is another person who posts under the name Melanie). The first time was to your dad's post about sex. I don't read the ones about peace. So, now that you know my priorities, you know I'm reading your blogs. Rest assured you are loved and desired (for your blogs, just your blogs).
God! Men are SO needy... ;)
Gotham, ever considered acting in Bollywood?? Hey if Abhishek can be a superstar, then you have a very good chance. I don't know if you can act, but you seem to have a personality. Superstars are the one who get all the love. Forget about all this serious stuff, get yourself a break over there: bollywood, where they seems to make Gods, Gurus and Sages every other generation.
Gotham,
To be honest reading some of your posts. I find it hard to believe you are Dr. Chopra's Son.
Get out of the shallow water.
Of COURSE he's Deepak's son. Where do you think he got at least some of that great sense of humor?
Gotham, I still love you as much as I did when I first posted about an hour ago.
"Where is the looove the loooove the loooovvvee?"
the Black Eyed Peas beat you to it, it seems.
;)
We can start a Fan Club for Gotham!
I am totally drawn to your humor, honesty, variety of subjects you write about, and your half smile in the picture alongside this post.
You are so adorable.
~~ Kate
Gotham,
The key is to end your posts with leading, thought-provoking questions which are ultimately rhetoric in intention however provoke a series of responses from those addicted to reading their own words. Not that this is wrong...how about you reader, what is your opinion of that last statement....?
(see?) :)
Gotham,
I guess Mallika didn't tell you the secret of the comments. She has access to Papa's best book; his check book. It's a buck fifty for every comment on her page and two bucks for slamming in your blog:)
Actually the easiest and fastest way to double your comments is to presonally reply to every comment in this page! you will get into fourties right there.
I am giggling so much!!
Perhaps; it's b/c your "fans" feel, when you are "gone" they way you feel; when you are "back."
Here Gotham, have a heart 0'love.

YesSss, I made it : )
North
Oh, and Gotham; this is strange; but, my sibs said the same to ME< growing up; we tend to still giggle about that one.
Get this! Mine told ME< that me and my younger bro were saved from a burning building; brought home and raised with "them-Mom, and 3 sibs." lol Me and my younger bro looked like them; but, were blondes; they were dark-hairs; and only the two boys had hazel-blue eyes. so ya, we fell for the story; every sibling battle lost; hmm, or was it won? lol
Mom had to get me my birth certificate for my 16th b/day b/c I never "fit in" and always felt well, maybe they were right! eek-ack! I didn't fit in, b/c I was too spiritual(even as a kid); and they are pretty prejudiced ppl... they are growing up now though(smiles.) I am persistant and showed "them" the way(smiles.)
See, if I didn't lovesyatoo; I wouldn'tell ya, all dis perzonalchitz. lol
Keep us smiling Gotham; it's a nice cool breeze ya do.

Dear Gotham,
I am new here, so this is the first post of yours that I've read. But I can show you some love if you want it.
Love & Cheers!
Navin
Dear Gotham,
You quack me up. And I luv ya!
Love, Bo
Hi Gotham
Are you fishing for compliments...well even if you are, you definitely deserve them! You have a distinct style of writing. It reflects your experience, maturity ,intelligence and innocence.Did i forget sense of humour? It reminds me of my fathers writing style.Your dad might agree with me on that.Keep up the good work...love reading your blogs.
Ashi
Hi there,
You made me write a comment, I never wrote comments before but reading your post it was compelling. Anyways there are a lot of people ( like me ) who read all the posts but never write a comment. You can always count on them...
Anyways it would be interesting to know how many hits does Intentblog get in a day ? It would be nice to know how many of us are connected through Intentblog.
On a serios note: Going just by the number of responses (& comparing it with X or Y ) is CHILDISH!
One blogs because he wants to..because there is something interesting (hopefully other than one more stripper story!) to share with the intelligence audience & NOT to compete on no.of postings (even though you are putting it in a lighter vein!)
So get real dude.
How about opening up this to completely strangers(not just celebs but who can/are willing to write)? It is a risk, but worth taking to have a new flavour else this venture won't last longer.
An occasional OPEN THREAD might be a good idea. Just so people can throw out some off topic ideas once and a while. Oh and to avoid irony...I will give some of my extra love to Gotham. :)
Thanks for the laughs...and the barbs.
gc
Gotham,
Glad you took it in the right perspective! I posted that stinker & then felt guilty! I never meant to offend you, still, sorry pal!
P
oh, gc, you are so adorable!
You have a way of seeing and then writing about important issues as either stupid or valid, depending! And you find a way to bring humor into politics, which is an amazing feat. Just by the style of your observations, you have a unique way of writing.
I like it very much. Keep writing and sharing here.
Love you!
smiles,
~~ Kate
What a coincidence? I'm gonna be in Vegas next week too!
Dang it - I thought you knew you were funny and have a great flare for this kind of stuff. Heck I was under the impression that you were the leading light behind this site - so that you could throw out your stuff at us.
Like the rest, read all your stuff and enjoy it immensely. Get the underlying message too most times e.g. "My father thinks I'm nuts"! :)
HEY WHAT CAN I SAY
YOUR POSTS ARE SO COMPLETE NOTHING ELSE TO ADD.
Gotham Chopra is a very smart entrepreneur and is a man of vision. He has a humorous side that everybody loves. I would like to quote the following from his profile:
"Identified by Newsweek Magazine (March 04) as one of the "most powerful and influential" South Asians worth watching...."
I l-o-v-e you, Gotham...
Carolyn
Dear Gotham,
You're not comepeting with anyone but yourself. I'd be really surprised if ShahRukh continues regular blogging...really surprised, and pleased too of course no doubt. You just need to be content with the results. You could try responding to some of the replies to your blogs and see magic happen or comment on issues that get people fired up to respond with passion.
:)
Rupal.
Maybe... could the server-meisters make a way for people to leave smiles for you? Since everyone's saying your posts are lighthearted, and people read, enjoy, but don't feel a need to comment, smiles would let you see your audience, while allowing you to be true to your own bouyant nature
I love you though I don't know you. (Btw, do be grateful to SRK, who has brought Intentblog to the attention of a few more people.)
Cheers, Heather
Kitne comment aae...
Sir pahele se kuchh jiada hai...

I tried to get Harb's comment in Hindi translated. I post it below but I would not vouch for it's accuracy.

So many comments you got!
Your head is in clouds now.
Sons of swines,
Isn't it enough now?
What do you make of it?
Will the leader of the gang
Be happy enough now?
Hi Gotham :-) Love Ya! ... eventhough you did not ask for my love directly ;-) Char
I don’t post much but I always try and read your post. I absolutely love your sense of humor. How did I miss the stripper story? :) :) Love you man!
Gotham,
Being Magazine loves you!
We would be honored to have your permission for a phone interview for an upcoming issue of Being Magazine.
Email me at jenpilla@beingmagazine.com if you are willing.
TS, here is the Hindi translation;
How many comments you got now?
Sirrr...a few more than we got previously...
Sons of a Swine! Only a few more...
What do you think, the chief will be very happy...
Harb.
PS: Gotham I hope you will enjoy the light hearted comments.
Hey Gotham,
Your posts are more charming than your dad's many a times..
How's that for love??
Notch up one more for yourself today.
Cheers!
Dad's are like the flow, Gotham''s are like the eddy...
Harb
Geeeesh! Do you ever have a day when someone doesn't bring it up to you that you are Deepak's son? Not that it's a bad thing but people hang so many of their own assumptions on you because of that. Anyway, I enjoy your blog posts and just want to say so... (hugs)....hey, what about the time you wrote about the decision to wear jeans to a formal dinner? See, I commented that time but never found out what your attire choice was. Inquiring minds wanna know!
Hey G'tham,
whta's the matter....seeking some assurance...need some confidence boster...
I thought the chopra family was all about confidence (spiratual and otherwise..) u really might be adopted....(hahahah)
And as may of my passive bloggers mentioned ...we read u ...so if you want the true count get the click counter and u fill find urself way way ahead....
enjoy!
Gotham,
This is the first time ever I have posted on this or any blog. I always look forward to your posts, love your humor, realness and wisdom. I would be so disappointed if you didn't post often, I'm hooked..........
Dude!
YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!!
I enjoy your perspective on Life. Now....take a deeeeeep breath and get back to work!!
O.k Gotham,
Is it really about the numbers?? The amount of comments does not reflect the level of LOVE that you sense is missing...due to shortage of comments. Come on now Gotham, you need to stop the comparrison process!! And continue to write the wonderfully insightfull stuff that you always write. Just remeber its not about the numbers....o.k.
P.S...Don't become a 'half empty glass' guy!
signed, Rita s.
Dear G.
I really don´t know you,
nor know mucho ado about you,
you may know me as the guy with the
crappy Karma with Dutch females,
and that´s ok,
because..,
that´s true!,
so is too, a genuine spirit thing, the whole love thing,
although I have this..inherent aversion to saying the L-word to other bloaks,
especially when I don´t know them,
no just kidding!!!
I never say the L-word to another dude, because that´s just..not done!
except when a bottle of Wodka has come to..sing! offcourse, and then it´s okay..;)
So I say, it´s all love in the spirit thing,
But being sober,
I say to you,
Na Zdrowie!
;)
Love, Passion, and kick some ass with the business thing!
Awww.....so sweet Gotham :)
sweet and funny
so you're going to one of my favourite places (mind you, I have a lot of favourite places)....I loooove Vegas....I'm not much of a gambler or anything but I just love the glitz and glamour of those gorgeous hotels and the fact that no one ever sleeps...it's just so alive! I haven't been there in a while, but being absolutely crazy about animals as I am, I used to look forward to Siegfried and Roy :( and the other fantastic shows. Hope you have a great time.......must be nice to be travelling the world all the time..........some day I will too... till then, I'll just dream :)
thanks for the love. off to vegas. will report all the (mis)adventures!
gc
Enjoy your trip :)
How come white people don't post on this site. There's lots of white people posting comments but the majority of the articles are written by South Asians.
just wondering?????
Yikes Lucy!
Not fond of that term "White People".
Are we not all shades of Brown?
Gotham, what I love is your realness.
Martha
sorry Trenton, didn't mean any disrespect, but I do think we have become too PC.
Hi Gotham, you are very funny. As most bloggers have declared we all enjoy the posts ,whether we post comments or not.As some one else suggested, you should, once in a while atleast, let us know that you do read what is posted.(just a suggestion)God bless you. Have fun in Vegas.
Ameya,

Sixty three and counting. I am not a sports fan and strippers don't do much for me either. But I like dry. Hope that's enough love for the night.
