Dave Stewart - May 22, 2006
Hi, Instead of getting hung up on who the sponsors might be or how to raise money to create such a forum or will it be hopeless etc.etc. I'm just gonna get on with moving forward and making it a reality.
Everyone made interesting remarks and good points which I will bear in mind. Aurora, North, Kristin
Suzanne , Maria Luisa you all inspire me to get to work, and Yogi you too motivate me!
It was v.interesting reading different people's perception of what should, could and would not work but to tell you the truth there are so many incredible visionaries out there working at similar types of ideas. I think it's a matter of harnassing their genius and involving as many as possible to help pull this thing together.
I've been approached by someone who read my Blog with a blueprint or a beginning's of a plan and I'll start working with her asap to get to the next stage. Will keep you posted and those who offered to help. I'll get back in touch soon.
Dave

Call teenagers and near 18 year olds as children, and you will get smacks in your face! Also sing to them poems and songs - on the shores of endless world - in an Indian voice with thick accent and see how many love you. Instead of generating money from sponsors that might serve some of your own cause and inviting below 18 year olds to come to a summit, with huge expenses, why do you not go to them, country by country, with your own expense, to hear their stories. Will that not be more humane than encouraging them to buy and drink soft colas and eat hamburgers of your sponsors who in return will increase their sales and profit at the expense of children all over the seashore of endless worlds? Do you want to spread the junk food eating habits of American children and adults who have bulging tummies across the world? With all respects to the Nobel Laureate Tagore and those who recite his poetry in thick accents, do the children of the world not know that endless worlds cannot have sea shores? To have a shore is to have a boundary. What is this drama of reciting a poem in your blog? To catch attention of the sponsors to generate huge sums of money and rub shoulders with others! Are you getting into parenthood issues of children of endless worlds with those who meddle with spirituality, gods, politics and Ayurveda medicine?
Dear Dave Stewart-great news that it's all going full-steam ahead!! The world needs to hear the voices of our global-chilren's pleas for peace and brotherhood among us!
North
Dave,
Best wishes with the project. I think it is a brilliant idea and much needed. Suicide by young people (especially boys) in Ireland is a big issue at the moment.
I think a lot of kids need HOPE! And it is important that their ideas are heard - they have great wisdom.
Love,
Mary
Hey guys,
Love the Intent,
With Passion!
Ps. Don't forget the Eastern European kids, a little inspiration goes a long way,
Hey, this is great! I would help in a second..., my 16 year would like this too....I think you should see if Oprah is interested...All you can do is ask!
One thing I have noticed since Deepak started his
"world peace" organizations is that I have taken notice how many different organizations are out there....how cool if there were one big "umbrella" organization that had the support of all the rest...
I know the person who runs the National Family Resilliency Center who is here in Maryland. My son is a "peer counselor" If you want an introduction to the director or to talk further, you can reach me thru the website www.betterbedrest.org
You also have student gov't kids from the high schools in the country as well. There are so many places you could go with this!
Joanie
Dave Stewart,
Bhagwan might be right about the music the kids listen to these days. I have a daughter,11, and son,
7, who said your piece with Deepak was "weird", Dad's kind of music. Just a FYI...
I'm positive my daughter would write or be interviewed on the subject matter, come back here to IB if you ever need some kids help or some intelligent and practical advise. We have a "bright" group here! We'd be happy to help!
Come to Omaha or K.C. and I'll be there! Always loved Annie and your music together, I'm 48 and been around the block more than a few times!
Great luck to you and the project! Peace, Keith
Hello Dave:
My organization works closely with Alliance for a New Humanity of which Deepak is the President.
We are based in Vancouver and into technology
we built the nextgeneration communication portal
for www.anhglobal.org
On June 25th we will be linking youth from all over the world talking about issues globally
during the WorldPeaceForum during the youth panel
World Childrens Forum should be part of the
overall campaign with us.
Love to get your message out as we co-creat
this momentum world wide and would love to
be part of the program with you.
I will share my story one day.. how I started this technology 5 years ago and kept building and am still building with no sponsors/or funding
in sight but the project keeps going and youth
keep wanting to use our platform we have co-produced 5 global events in the last two years.
As Dave says:
I'm just gonna get on with moving forward and making it a reality.
Ditto was the same way i kept moving.
Love for you to be part of what we are doing.
Deepak is aware of our project and what we are doing it would be a great venue for you to speak from anywhere in the
world during the conference.
We will be connecting youth groups from Africa/South America/India..(if they are still
awake)
Love to support your vision please let me know

PS>>>>> Deepak's message Tagore's poem about the children and your music love it and very inspiring when I opened intentblog.. been a while since i went into the blog.
Some how it lead me to your blog as I was reading
Deepaks.
Hope to hear from you soon we can acheive it
collectively.
Ashie
Glad to motivate you.
I never said don't do it.
I said it would be great if you keep it real.
Don't flinch from the realities some of the kids have to face everyday. You've seen it because you've been to Africa and worked on the AIDS issue. There's Willie Wonka, and there's also child-orphan-soldiers. Bring the spotlight of awareness onto where it will produce the greatest transformation.
I read your bio and it looks like you're the right man for the job.
My blessings and prayers are with you.
Cheers,
Yogi
Hi Dave,
yes, there's nothing to get hung up on. Just do it, that's the way we all learn to know ourselves. Thanks for keeping us posted, maybe more will feel like joining the playground if you do.
Go Dave!!
Love, Kristin
Yogi
I agree with you keep it real and abosutely not
censored either
Joanie
in regards to Oprah..I do enjoy watching her show
when i do get a chance.
well we are from
Canada.. and we sent numerous emails and tried to get in touch with her
about our projects and connecting youth globally
supporting Africa especially youth groups teaching about HIV/Aids to children/youth in
Tanzania schools ...since 2004
she never responded she never acknowledged either.
My sense and my observation.
Unless you are:
Famous or a Celeb
or part of the inner circle
Then they do pay attention to you and you may just about get your message or story heard.
This did not stop me or my partners...we are CREATING OUR OWN
MEDIA WITH THE TECHNOLOGIES WE HAVE in hand.
Next Generation.. we support a lot of youth organizations.
"voices of youth on june
25th we are connecting youth globally and also
inviting youth from Africa to be part of the
Conference at the WorldPeaceForum
most of the information will be posted on heartinaction.com website
you don't have to travel... you will be able to
watch from home or office.
We will keep you all posted.
Hoping Dave will be inspired and Dave will get involved with us
and we can also support his vision and we
would love to have you all support this conference on June 25th, 2006
Details will be posted on our site.

Dear Dave, to use a coined phrase from the movie; Field of Dreams with Kevin Costner:
"Build it, and they will come."
Just throwing in some attentive encouragement(wink)
North
Hi Dave!
I'm thrilled that you're going ahead with this and wish you all the best.
I meant to make this suggestion on your last blog but forgot. There's an organization you might want to get in touch with: Free the Children
http://www.freethechildren.org
FTC was started by a Canadian guy named Craig Kielburger when he was 12 years old in response to seeing a newspaper story about Iqbal Masih, another 12 year old boy in Pakistan who was murdered for speaking out about child labour.
Basically it's run by the children, for the children. They raise money for projects and attention regarding children's issues. From their "About" page:
"Free The Children is the largest network of children helping children through education in the world, with more than one million youth involved in our innovative education and development programs in 45 countries. Founded by international child rights activist Craig Kielburger, Free The Children has an established track-record of success, with three nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize and partnerships with the United Nations and Oprah’s Angel Network.
Unlike any other children's charity in the world, Free The Children is both funded and driven by children and youth. Our mission is to free young people from the idea that they are powerless to bring about positive social change, and encourage them to act now to improve the lives of young people everywhere."
Their list of accomplishments is impressive:
- Nominated three times for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002, 2003, and 2004
• Awarded the Roosevelt Freedom Medal in 1998
• Received The State of the World Forum Award in 1997
• Built 400 Free The Children schools around the world, providing education to more than 35,000 children every day
• Delivered 200,000 school and health kits to students around the world
• Implemented alternative income projects helping more than 20,000 people
• Shipped $9 million dollars in essential medical supplies to 40 countries
• Provided healthcare centers and community funding helping 500,000 people
• Helped 125,000 people by providing access to clean water and improved sanitation
I was thrilled to see that they now have kids blogging on their site. How wonderful.
Just a thought, Dave.
Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help!
Love, Jodi
Jodi, That is very impressive!
Joanie
Very impressive resume of these kids! wow!!
I have been watching Craig unfold his magic over the past few years-amazing young man-with an obviously amazing family behind him!
But, God Bless the Child-who has his own..
North
Why does Dave Stuwart get to be on here when he is not a south asian, is he "special" just because he is Deepak's golf pal??
Great News! You are clearly the person to move things along and to gather all the necessary 'experts' available. I agree with some of the others, that it should be child and youth driven. A Child and Youth Advisory Board should be struck in the planning phase. I'm sure you've considered its importance. Direct youth input is what informs our work and drives our web site. That's what meaningful youth engagement is all about. Otherwise its just tokenism, isnt it?
Child and youth centered, child and youth driven, however adults must be fully present at these kinds of events.
Adults who are informed on the issues and the ways in which kids could be triggered at this kind of event, must be present and ready to throw down a safety net. First and foremost it should be safe, emotionally and physically for all who attend. When you consider all your safety needs, great things can happen.
I'm excited for you and what could be. As I said, we would be happy to lend some of our 'expertise'. Our web site is funded in part by the Government of Canada and our mission is to inspire youth to reach out, give help and get help during tough times. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for Canadian youth however its been estimated that depression will be the second leading cause of disability worldwide by the year 2021. That stat is staggering. Think about how many of the kids and youth that we've been talking about struggle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder everyday of their lives. Manifested by severe panic and anxiety, and horrifying flashbacks- think of it as your worst nightmare but your awake and the pain is real. The question may come up "How can a two or three day summit make a real difference?". My experience is that it makes a world of difference. Because those two or three days will have been enough to at least plant a seed in the heart and mind of a child. I've worked with youth who appear broken,
difficult, hard to manage, beyond help- all terms that we as professionals, like to throw around. At the end of our working relationship, progress may be hard to report or identify. But six months later, they may stop in and let me know that they returned to school, or found a part time job, or left an abusive home environment.
No direct correlation can be made but perhaps somewhere a seed was planted.
Great post, Maria Luisa!! I agree-many kids these days are walking around in a shell-shock states of existance. Many are depressed and anxious.
In the 70's when I were a teen; I just don't remember having the same issues back then, as kids do today!
What kind of world, have we created for them to exist in?
I believe, that if any time is going to be the right time to listen to the world's kids-it's now!
All the best Dave, Deepak and the kids of the world!
North

Hi Ashie
Thanks for the info and the invitation. We are located in London, Ontario. I would love to talk to you about how we could support both of our initiatives. And the the opportunity to let more youth know about our web site is ideal!
I've checked out the Youth Forum link. Great workshops. I wonder if there is some interest in showing an animated short that we just produced with Bif Naked (and for those of you who dont know who she is, she is our homegrown Queen of Punk). Here's a link:
http://www.mindyourmind.ca/personal-stories/film/loss.asp
The topic of the piece is loss- an all too familiar and universal theme. Take a look and see if its appropriate as a preview to your film night?
I will also contact you again via your email after I've taken a closer look at your programme for the 25th.
Thanks again
Maria Luisa
