Gotham Chopra - June 26, 2006

Straight up: collaborating with your dad on the KAMA SUTRA is awkwrad. I mean it just is cuz, ya'know that "How do you know that?" question keeps coming up. Which leads to, "Wait, did you...?" "Have you...?" "With mom...?"
You get the picture. Actually strike that from the record. You get the point. Nah that doesn't work either - I could do this all day!
Here's the deal: Deepak Chopra's Kama Sutra is out and all the original artwork was completed by our studio team in India under the Virgin Comics banner. Satish - our artist who led the charge on this - doesn't even speak English. Meaning another kid read the book aloud and Satish painted - that right there is a great "making of video." I also helped edit the book and I have to say - sans the awkwardness - I am very proud of it. Not only is it our first real product out of the new company, but I think it's a classic. Not another staid delivery of the classic text -- this is fresh and progressive and cool.
I am not above solicitation - go out and buy it please! :) High sales figures will make me look good!
Enjoy

What a magic! The blog is back. I do not know if it went into changes. Here is the question I asked earlier:
Is it "DC's Love Bizarre" or is it "DC's Love Bazaar"?

This "tutra mutra ... mutra tutra ..." thingy of of baba made me laugh.
What a beautiful expression! I wonder if originally it comes from Punjabi.
Anyway, I think this should be adopted as a standard English usage, if it hasn't been already; and the credit be given to baba.
stammering...
hesitatingly denying...
obviously admitting...
knowingly lying...
Is that what tutra-mutra implies, baba?
He is THAT
In you is THAT
So you are THAT

He knows that
He cannot do that.
Only animals do that.
Is he an animal?
Do you know that?
Gotham,
Could you please post an enlarged painting here. It is too small to appreciate the details.
Are there two lovers in the painting? Or is there a lonely lover cooling her/him under a shaft of cool waterfall? Is the waterfall a metaphor to hot white lava or something? I would appreciate if you could explain a little. Or you if could translate feelings of Satish, the painter, when he was explained something in Kama Sutra, translated into his native tongue. Obviously what he felt, came out in this painting. So please explain this painting to us, and let us know what it relates to in your dad's book?
You rarely, like your dad, answer what we ask you. I will not, and my friends will not, I promise you, buy this Kamasutra book unless you answer this.

Hi Gotham,
I bet is was awkward. But I'm glad you were all able to put it together. As I mentioned to you on another post, the book is great and the artwork really MAKES the book. I agree - It's a classic.
Love, Kristin
PS. you might want to change "but it" to "buy it" above.
baba, trust me. I am not kidding. You are a poet already. Please keep posting, and send your poems to some poetry magazine. I have no intention to mislead you. Have some other poets read your poems. Are you somewhere in England?
Poetry Corner - Aphrodisiacs in Kama Sutra
I
Drink milk with sugar,
Or better still,
Testicles of a goat or a ram
Boiled in it.
II
Powder together the seeds
From the plants of long pepper, sansevieria,
Roxburghiana, hedysarum gangeticum,
Mix the powder thoroughly with milk.
This drink of potent concoctions,
Will give you sexual satisfactions.
III
Mix rice and eggs of sparrows
With milk, ghee and honey,
Boil it then drink it
To your heart’s content.
You will be ready to enjoy
Many women in an instant.

HELLO,
I AM GLAD SOMEONE SAW THE SAME THING I SAW.
I BELIEVED IT TO BE A NAKED LADY UNDER A WATERFALL.I COULDN'T TAKE MY EYES OFF IT. VERY VERY NICE!!!
LOVE,DEE
Hi Gotham,
I bought the new book of your Dads for Kristin, and we just love the art work. It really is gorgeous. However, the exact same thing went through my head when I found out that your company did the art work (AWKWARD...)
I of course learned about sex from the best possible source: my good buddy Danny Chesky (Polish, Catholic kids seemed to know everything) when I was about 7 or 8. He didn't have all the details quite right, but he had enough right to throw me into deep shock. I remember telling Danny that he was "full of it!" there was no way that my mom would EVER doing something like that!
thirty plus years later and my 19 year old daughter has the same reaction: "Gross dad."
Anyway, it's all good and the new book is beautiful.
Peace,
Scott.
Thanks for the replies. It is actually two lovers beneath a waterfall. It's one of about 120 original paintings in the book I think. Satish - th painter did an amazing job. Let me work on the excerpts - though my guess is that some are available via amazon. Glad that those of you who already have seen it, like it. Spread the word!

Poetry Corner - Lover’s Quarrel in Kama Sutra
She is a jealous woman.
She can’t bear to hear
About rivals or be called
By chance her rival's name.
A slip of tongue by her lover
Turns the house upside down.
Burning in anger she fights,
Tossing her head she cries.
She strikes her lover and lies
On the floor, throwing away
The garlands and gifts
That her lover gave her.
He tries to reconcile,
Telling her all sweet things.
Picking her up he places her
On the bed to comfort her.
Unwilling to make up,
Bending her head,
Pulling her hair,
Kicking him many times
She strikes his arms, head,
Back and chest and then
Sits at the door cussing,
Weeping, wailing, crying.
He begs for pardon.
She refuses till she knows,
He can't beg nor plead no more
And then forgiving him
Yet still reproaching him,
Telling he’s a rat and a cheat,
She lovingly embraces him,
Wanting to make love to him.
~ Translated by Ravi Kopra
I loved the book, too, Gotham, it's beautiful in so many ways. Deepak's writing is inspired and truly manages to direct the energy UP the spine :))) That, in combination with the gorgeous paintings and the glossy paper, the wide pages, the weight of the book - makes it an experience for all the senses. You can't help get carried away...
When I saw that you had worked together, I felt admiration for both of you.
A quote from the book:
"The love you pray for is trying to reach you at every moment. So pray for the highest love. Then when it reaches you, your blessing will be infinite."
Awwwwwww.
We talk about Kamasutra and all we have are boring, colourless, unimaginative words.
Pictures... pictures!
hee hee hee
this is so funny and so typical ...
as I could only see the light ...
not the naked body or the lovers ...
hee hee hee
oh well ...
oh yes the poetry ...
question remains ...
who is writing ???
as often i have no idea ...
to take it to someone ???
could say much about that and yet notice how careful I am becoming of the words I say and what I project ...
at core level my fear to let God down ...
as I so often feel lost for words ...
a question :
how do I bring it across in ways where unity is served and honored .. where I let go and let God ...
the perfume I was born to be...
where I dissolve...
to become evrything ???
In many ways it feels overwhelming as the experiences go so very deep I have experienced rejection in my core ...
at another it is a knowing that it is ego stuff I hear and fears to grow up and rise in all that I am ...
I also know that mostly feel puzzled with the mystery that keeps calling me ...
uncertain and often bewildered ...
wanting to hide somewhere ...
while my wings keep being streched ...
realizing why I love so much listening to John Denver song ...
I WANT TO LIVE ...
cried many tears this morming when I received an email from a top coacher when I simply made some enquiries ...
realizing I can't run away from my path ...
it keeps finding me ...
despite the fact that I feel streched in my bones ...
and yet I just know ...
I need to break the spell and rise up ...
from this little me ...
wanting to be set free ...
noticing my first thoughts when i read the question ...
I have no idea on what to do ...
it all feels so overwhelming ...
on this ...
I am being asked to deliver ...
where in truth
I have no choice ...
oh this kneeling ...
with tears of blood ...
as my ego dismantles ...
and I am left somewhere ...
in a non man's land ...
hummm
LOL, Scott,
Yes, must be polish nature, explorations, of the forbidden fruits..? or.. the field of infinite..,
playground.., the marocan girl next door.., I didn't do, much, didn't know what to do, then, but, after being caught, in my 'explorations', my mom told me my dad looked as he saw a ghost!,
I still think he never did get over that..,
seriously, don't know who was more post-traumatished, he or me? reminds me, of the 'official' sexual education, later, a dead seriuous, family meeting, me and my baby brother, both recieved a book, and then my dad said: for, if any, questions, ask your mom! and that was that.
LOL,
Love, Passion!
Marek,
A few years ago my youngest son discovered the wonder of erections; not only that he had one in the morning, but that to his amazement, he could "make" himself have one ("it's easy dad", he told me later).Of course he had to call his 8 year old sister in to see it "Hannah it's huge!"
I was given orders by Kristin to explain to Josh what was going on. So I sat down in his room with him, closed the door; sat quietly for about 10 minutes and then said: "Ask your mother."
Peace,
Scott.
LOL,
LOL,
Well, Scott..
LOL,
Love, Passion!
reminds me.., ah, who's gonna sue me..;)?
My first time, pure magic, polish girl, I'm not telling!, but now, this was funny,
some time later, I was getting 'in da flow',
samurai style, you know..;)
Her dad was working abroad, the dude was into guns, big shot in the town, whatever, she was cute, so I'm, making miracles happen, right,
then this loud knocking, on the window, behind,
that was her dad.., as she told me, going out to feed the chickens late..
It was a very, 'facinating', 'pleasure to meet, you', sir, shaking hands, some time later, yes,
Monica.., she is..;)
ah, propably, he told the same story, and it still cracks him up..,
sick man.., nonetheless,
and the girl, didn't work out, she was into flashy Lada's, and buffed guys, and I was doing Silva, Reiki courses, on road trips, in the old country, but..
Love, Passion!
GOTHAM,THANK YOU. YES ON PAGE 55!! THAT'S WHY I
LIKED IT SO MUCH. NICE WORK,SATISH IS VERY GOOD.
I ENJOYED THE BOOK. LOVE,DEE
Scott I love that!! :)
Poetry Corner - Scratching and Biting in Kama Sutra
If it pleases her,
Scratch and bite her.
Put marks of passion
On her cheeks, lips,
Neck and breasts,
To show to everyone
She's your love.
If she’s your wife,
Scratch and bite her
Only on her private parts,
For others not to see them,
But to remind her
She's your love.
Translated by Ravi Kopra
PS: The translation is on the right page of the planned book. The left page shows a passionate lover in heat giving hickeys to his nude, blond beloved, with blue eyes. And the lover is a gay looking aspiring movie star from Bollywood, his complexion is swarthy and his hair fall to his shoulders. A heart beat of 18-20 year old Indian girls.
A Caucasian beloved will be shown in the painting to enhance the arousal effect of Indian male readers. The lovers might be sitting or standing under a cool waterfall, with sprinkles of water covering their bodies to cool their rapidly rising body temperature in hot love.
The lovers might be hugging each other so tightly as if becoming one in sexually induced spiritual union of oneness in their consciousness.
Even though the sexuality in Kama Sutra is thousand of years old, it will be packaged in the format suitable for New Age Humanity that is supposed to be loving and caring unlike the Old Humanity of Kama Sutra times that was obviously very barbaric. But their sexual prowess was animal like. That is why Kama Sutra still lives in this age when many rush for viagra etc whereas in the Kama Sutra times they used to drink milk in which testicles of goats or rams were boiled till they became mushy, and all the juices flowed out of them and raised the potency of the boiled milk. Man, what were those times! I wonder if Dr Chopra's mentions this aphrodisiac in his new Kama Sutra book. I cannot afford to buy his book. So Deepak or Gotham, could you send me a copy of the book for perusal. I do not guarantee a good review, but I will be honest in my review that might not help the sale of books. So please consider this fact before you mail me a copy.
this is really getting hot ...
no wonder i find myself skip reading ...
oh yes a funny ...
my USA dear friend had this tutti fruty book ...
I kept looking upside down...
to get into its inflow ...
till one day it simply cracks wide open ...
and tehre I was ...
sitting on the floor
lose pages glued to my startled hands ...
how ashamed ...
hearing a child's wheeping ...
what am I going to do ???
these pages are gone ...
how can I put it them back together ???
no difference to this life I once had ...
torn away
without a way back ...
except maybe ...
in Gods tears ...
laughing so very loud
I have gone deaf ...
you're a poet, my friend
trust me
I play no games
pull no legs to tell you
don't feel no shame
when loose pages
of book of love
so much sought after
by the young and the old
all over in the world
get stuck on your
gooey hands
the book is so powerful
even gurus can't resist
openig it to have
a secret peek in it
it surely makes
their juices flow
in abundance, though
they may wear
a mask of holiness
that soft sexual loveliness
no place they have to hide
sometimes they go on
a spiritual ride
but secretly they wish
they always were
on Kama's sexual ride
these are the ironies
of our modern world
these are the ironies
of New Humanity
where sexuality
hides in spirituality
hides in Kama Sutra books
placed under the soft
pillows on their
satin covered beds
where they slip, slip, slip...
i seen that work.

To those who are not familiar with your dad's and your adventures into comic books, videos and Kama Sutra, would you please explain what you are trying to tell us here.
Whatever is in your head and you want to say, does not come out clearly here.
