Fighting In a Fog

Deepak Chopra - September 15, 2006

The fifth anniversary of 9/11 passed with a clash of opinions. Are we safer than five years ago? Has the Iraq war created more terrorists? Is the battle against al-Qaida set to last a generation? Voices on all sides

seemed certain of their position, but the prevailing truth is actually one of uncertainty. If the Republicans keep the House and Senate in the upcoming elections, it will be a victory for those who manipulated our uncertainty. The Bush administration will have convinced people to fight endlessly, to never allow a relaxation of tension, to consider "Islamic fascism" an ever-present danger to each of us.

It's difficult to live with painful uncertainty. The head has to overrule physical fear. Researchers in stress management point out that random stresses are more difficult to endure than predictable ones. A predictable stress would be something like the morning traffic jam that greets commuters every day. People don't like such stresses, but they cope with them normally. Terrorism, since it strikes out of the blue, is unpredictable, and therefore coping is much more difficult--Bush's policy of fighting all the time offers, if nothing else, a predictable response.

Unfortunately, this tactic doesn't work to stop terrorism, to eradicate it at its root source, or even to push it back within check. As long as American troops stand on Muslim soil, there will be a bottomless supply of new jihadists. In interviews last week the official 9/11 commission unanimously declared the failure of our response to the attacks that day.

If you want certainty, there you are. For certain we will keep on financing terrorism through Arab oil profits. For certain the number of terrorists is growing. For certain the worldwide perception of the U.S. is that of an uncontrollable aggressor. People don't want to face these certainties. They accepted Bush's "win the battle at any cost" mentality, but now that conditions are growing ever worse and the Iraqi policy ever more frustrating, there's no way out but to start living with uncertainty.

Two years from now, when right-wing war makers no longer control the White House, we can hope for intelligent, flexible, realistic talk from the next President. Meanwhile, we are fighting terrorism blinded by fog.
Love,
Deepak

"Buy or depend on Arab oil and you are financing terrorism."

Powerful meme I think we should promote it.
Thanks Deepak

Might get the Arabs to put a lid on terrorism, they are the ones that should do it, not us.

My advice to the Democrats if they want to get elected. Watch "The Secret" thesecret.tv AND most important...

I think the most effective way to get elected is to eliminate the “fear” in the minds of those that would vote against you.

One’s opponent will try to use fear, and will try to create fear. One who does the opposite of that, normally has the advantage, because it demonstrates a certain “nature” that appeals to voters if not on the surface, at a deeper level.

One might do this by emphasizing that one understands that tax revenue comes from businesses and people with employment, and one must work to the benefit of both.

I really do mean that if all the Democrats watch the secret they will have a landslide victory accross the board.

General Motors corporation has now had some view The Secret and it was impactful enough to show it to several units. They are then going to watch the effect.

If the results look good they will show it to the entire corporation, their customers and suppliers.

You might be wondering what exactly is it?

This is the URL thesecret.tv, you should get the DVD not the online thing, it needs to be watched several times, everytime you will see stuff you did not see before. You can also share it becuase you will want to.

It's quite true Dear Deepak, that generally the worldwide perception of US is what you said. People don't want to face these certainties? :) There are Innumerable things which people don't want to face. They just want what is best for themselves. The Rest please go to hell. Win the battle at any cost? Win everything at any cost! That's the general philosophy of most Americans. Who cares about the other? We Got to Win Baby!!! Lives gone? Children gone? Environment screwed up? Who cares? We got to have the money, the stocks have to be up and we got to win!! Yeah, with this philosophy one can expect lot of peace and mass enlightenment very soon, maybe the moment the democrats come in.

You're certain about Demos coming in. If the battle presently is a one in fog, how in the world do you think it won't be in a fog then? When you're battling an Incredibly difficult problem to handle "Terrorism". As though democrats will come in and make things better. Attempts, yes. But, I think the damage in another two yrs could be so grave that the present admin will leave a big piece of crap for the next admin. So huge that it will be way too difficult for them to handle.

God bless America!

Who else can from now on?

"As long as American troops stand on Muslim soil, there will be a bottomless supply of new jihadists."

The answer then seems quite apparent, get American troops out of the Middle East! Oh, but wait, the main ingredient of American apple pie is Arabian/Mesopotamian/Kuwaiti oil, and Armageddon has too be fought in a eastern Mediterranean country,

and Americans gladly spend more on weapons than everybody else on the planet combined . . .

'Our' gospel of money and exceptional righteousness is benefiting who exactly—the ‘religious’ plutocrat who needs lethal bodyguards and electrified gates!

The WTC = exploitation. The IMF = inequality. The World Bank = some having while many many others have not. Flag worshippers and patriots = idolaters.

“Ya’all see this a tower here, wellll by golly, it represents freedom ya’all; now look up and say, ‘I pledge allegiance to the flag, and the United States of America . . .’”

Oh, I don’t know, maybe it is just the irradiated water I drink of from the Inland Empire reservoir whose Hanford leaks have contaminated that has me circuitry buzzing . . .

I probably just need to switch back to Norm’s Kentucky bourbon, which is a much purer form of poison. Or become a Native Peyote prophet . . .

Keeping it light people, in the face of such ‘darrrkness’ . . .

Maria Cantwell is a war hawk, Nancy & Paul Pelosi are multi-millionaire gamers (and Feinstein is even richer), Hilary is a devout proponent of the Israelite lobby . . .

and there is a difference between democrats and republicans . . .

These people, and their ‘constituents,’ buy their ‘public’ offices, and in the war-making industry there is just too much more money to be made!

‘Democracy?’ Please! ‘Apocalypse Now’ and perpetually is America’s guiding light!

“Our’ city upon the hill is built upon Native ‘American’ graves and Iraqi body-bags!

Well the way things are going terrorists will be the least of the worlds worry.

The eleven year solar cycle that is next set to peak in 2012 appears to already be starting 6 years ealry. Makes you wonder what it will be like in 2012.

Some scientists are saying there may not be any satellites operating come that year, they will all be in protective mode. What does that mean? The world needs to gear towards fiber all over just in case.

As I have said before something is effecting the Sun, and Mars is also being effected, is it the sun or is the sun also being effected by something else? So it's not just all about what we are going at least on the physical level.

So anyway there is that year 2012 again if you have been following infinite play you would know all the other stuff associated with that year.

There is a page/section called THE WATCHTOWER that has links to all the real time scientific data we track, and is the place where we can watch the events unfold. You can also read about the unusual increase in cosmic rays for example.

infiniteplaythemovie.com/watch_tower.aspx or click my name.

predictions are that Cycle 24 will be considerably stronger. Such predictions are difficult because little is known about what governs the strength of the cycles, or when they may appear. A fast rise of activity may be a sign of a pending strong cycle.

Solar activity and its effects on Earth wax and wane in an 11-year cycle generally characterized by the number and intensity of sunspots and flare events. Minimum activity is predicted to occur around February 2007. However early signs of Cycle 24 have been observed by the NSO as early as June and were announced at the annual meeting, of the Solar, Heliospheric and Interplanetary Environment (SHINE), a community-based program sponsored by the NSF. The meeting was held July 31-Aug. 4 in Midway, Utah.

Here is an intersting development NASA lost it's funding for Solar Cycle Prediction

Wonder who cut that ?

it is quite personal to me Deepak that you talk about Sept the 11th.

as it was because of 9/11 that i first encountered you. you did a talk on one of the Canadian Broadcasts..might have been CBS...and myself and my companions had not heard of you before,,and we listened to what you had to say...and we were very much moved by your understanding........ a few years later while at a meditation group in the UK someone gave me one of your tapes..and I realised right away you were the person I had seen and heard on the news in Canada speaking about the events of 9/11.

Your understanding is very diverse and I love to hear the sound of your voice, like a son hearing the voice of his long lost father it is almost...

your talk reaches not only the ears and minds of many people from many walks of life but it reaches a place in the heart reserved for all things great and wonderful.

Peace and love my father..my brother and my dear friend

Richard: Interesting to note that Jupiter is giving off more light than it receives; and for quite some time as far as the "annals of human history" might reflect!?

Keep going, Richard! Dave

Will the price of gas keep coming down until Nov. 7th?

Will there be a successful block on a terrorist plot,

planned to strike on American soil around Nov. 1?

Will Wall Street continue to shine for 7 more weeks?

North Korea back in the picture?

Dear Dr. Chopra,

You said, “If the Republicans keep the House and Senate in the upcoming elections, it will be a victory for those who manipulated our uncertainty” Another important way they have been doing this, besides the terrorist fear issues, is with the price of oil.
I predicted to all my friends and clients last June that we would see a dramatic drop in the price of oil before the November elections. This has already started. One month ago, oil was 78 dollars and it is now 63.
Does anyone find it strange that this drop in oil is happening just prior to the elections? I don’t! The Bush Government has undoubtedly been sleeping with the oil companies and some of the biggest oil producing countries. Their bed partners are now deeply in the administration’s debt. Since Bush & Co. took office, oil has risen from below 20 dollars a barrel to over 70 a barrel; this is 300+ % increase in just 6 years. They have some very happy campers among their supporters to call in a favor from. The favor is help us get the oil price (and consequently the US gas price) way down before the November elections, so we can show our voters that we are on the right track to solving the world’s problems. Then we can keep our majority in the House and Senate and have some more fun in our last two years in power.
My advice to everyone is, stay short oil until after the November elections, and then rolls your eyes back and go long! I predict we will see oil trading at 100 dollars a barrel before the end 2007!

There is a bright spot in the news. Some Republicans are coming to their senses at last Former Secretary of State Collin Powell has written a letter to Congress urging them not to support Bush’s attempt to rewrite the Geneva Convention rules. Good on you Mr. Powell!

Kind Regards,
Stan

Deepak: As always, and in all ways, with you, It Is both; both the "'silence between the notes,' that makes the music the music;" but it's also the "notes" you place Here, Within the Now; it's also "That (I AM?!);" That makes the music!!!

Thought you'd find it "cool" that since I don't have sound on my computer (out of no other reason than sheer laziness), Aurora's going to play me your and Dave's theme song, through her phone, from Sweden to Colorado--will/we'll be thinking of you all; that, my friend, is of "a certainty," even, and if not especially, the "Event Horizon" you begin to speak of, I sense in all the seminars you attend for the Chopra Centers; I "believe," from what I perceived your energy to be conveying, while walking the fine line do whenever you're on stage, and.......with those wine-colored "ruby" tennis shoes you wore (in Westminster--July time)....

....for the Intentblog audience; Patzi pointed out to me, that from the four "Deepak seminars" Patzi's attentded--before I ever saw him speak for the firstime, myself, well....Patzi loves to describe the way Deepak paces the stage during his lectures--he walks with the pacing majestic of yet one of the most uniquely developed and beautiful "big cat" families on the planet; yet the greatest Asian tigers--the Bengal Tiger.

Deepak has several inches of these "great shoes" (very cool jogging-style cruisers) sitting out over the edges of the 2-3' stage elevation, including the short stairway, and all of his toes are literally out-over-the-edge, and at almost all times he is pacing the front of the stage.

The only times he is away from this area is when he is either moving into a somewhat open-to-receiving-and-giving energy exhange while he continues to speak; or he is using the stage itself to portray possible several characters--often different aspects of himself, especially demonstrating the blinking-in-and-out-of-the-Universal images of physical manifestation; as well as the continuously living truth that IS continuously expressing Itself outward; and Deepak "walks the talk" when it comes to this One--both Spiritually, and as equally, Quantum Scientifically, as well!

It was my sense, however, that what he most wanted to do, was to just BE that message, like Gandhi said, when he was doubted by his followers, and his own change of direction, esp. outer: My life is my message! (not just words, but the actions and deeds that surrounded them as their true contextual meaning)--Deepak lights up when he go to the "Event Horizon," and not just all the events he has to attend while traveling sooooo.......many horizons; it seems, all-the-time, and almost at All-Times; or better, "All-Time!" Much Love, Deepak (although I will look for you there, when I get "there," I will also know I'm "not there yet;" I'll know I'm there, at that time, when I've slipped into the Gap for some new Levi-Genes, and forgotten the awareness that you are not me. If you recognize him, say hey to Rumi, and all the boys and girls there--"See You" t-here.

It's fun learning a "New language"--like the one that has been becoming increasingly materialized into this world through the infinite variables of mechanisms at work with the Intentblog; you guys brought in some of the world's most incredible "pitchers, hitters, basemen, and fielders;" but most especially, the Women of Intentblog that you've brought "In!" Dave (no review of wording/grammer, I'm too &%$#!@? lazy--but....in honor of one of our "All Time" "Hall of Famers," a favorite person in this world--your Son!)

" there's no way out but to start living with uncertainty"

All I can say is "Don't worry, be happy"

I'm sure things will get quite clear in the next year or so.

Meanwhile, fill up, gas is cheaper!

Enjoy all,

Steve

It is far from certain that right-wing war mongers will not occupy the White House in 2008. Um, unless it's a left-wing war monger (Hilary, anyone?)

Y'all also forgot about resdistricting, because of which it is almost impossible for the democrats to EVER regain a majority in the House of Representatives.

All things being equal, does not apply. The playing field is not level for the House. The new districts drawn up under the reign of Tom Delay are heavily weighted in the Republicans favor.

Huge corporations and even mid-size and small businesses will still urge their people to vote Republican. No matter the disaster in Iraq, the falling value of wages, the masses of uninsured people, the growing poverty problem, our school chidren being "left behind" compared with European and Asian schoolkids, the astronomical price of oil, and the growing gap between the rich and poor.

In spite of all that, the super-rich will understand that the GOP will allow them to cut and run at tax time, and the GOP will securely hold the mantle of being the "pro-business" party.

And the masses of brainwashed Fundamentalist cult victims will still march robotically to the polls and vote Republican, because the implants from their ministries told them to do so (That would be the Ministry of Propaganda).

And mostly remember that Dems having 49% of the vote is not a hopeful sign. Tom Delay and Newt Gingrich perfected the concept of the 51% victory.

In the 51% strategy, you want the race to be close, because then just manipulating the smallest percentage of votes by voter fraud, arm-twisting political maneuvers, or hacking electronic voting machines (or some combination of all three) is all you need to deliver the victory. And around here 50.1% is as good as 99%.

Isn't it just really something that most felony voters live in poor, black, heavily democratic districts?

Wanna fight back? Start by learning how to hack a voting machine. It's easy! Watch the 1-minute tutorial here:

www.huffingtonpost.com/marty-kaplan/how-to-hack-a-diebold-vot_b_26301.html?p=8

Even a GOP volunteer can do it!

Hello Deepak and Everyone,

I would just like to add that while I voted for Bill Clinton it was during his Presidency that North Korea continued to build up it's nuclear power and President Clinton's Administration was "talking." It was during Clinton's Administration that Hamas and Hezbollah grew in power and stature in the MidEAst, left alone, toaquire weapons and missiles with which to attack Israel, they also fine tuned their "human weapons" capability(homicide Bomber.) Bin Laden was also left to develope his plans for destruction and was devastatingly successful on 9/11 in killing many Americans. Iran was also left to develope, what, looks like, now,a spectacular underground nuclear energy
facility.

What,I am pointing out, here, is that this Administration has it's faults, many, to be sure, let us not be blinded by our ignorances in the coming elections. Let us look at our Nation, our World and it's needs and try to vote for candidates that can,to the best of their ability, face those needs head on with conviction and purpose.

Iraq, what are we to do with it? Leave it? Stay and help it get on it's feet? We broke it. It is our responsibility, (like the young man who gets his girlfriend pregnant, do we leave her to raise the child on her own?) Like it or not this Nation elected this Administration, this President, and WE are responsibile for all this President has done, and that is the real "kicker," here, no matter who we elect, WE, the AMERICAN PEOPLE are RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR ELECTED OFFICIALS ACTIONS AND IT IS WE AND OUR CHILDREN WHO WILL ALTIMATELY PAY THE PRICE FOR THOSE ACTIONS. President Clinton will have his nice retirement in Upstate NY and President Bush will have his handy dandy ranch in Texas, with a hefty retirement, "great"health insurance to the end, but what will WE have, what will your everyday, fuel needy, health care needy, pension needy, education needy AMERICANS have?

It is time for the American public to leave behind the labels of Republican and Democrat, left and right, liberal and conservative and vote for men and women who go beyond, to include all Americans and their needs to face this new World.

Dear Deepak, Richard and David,

I am standing on the platform of the Watchtower, at the edge of uncertainty, staring at the event horizon. This is what popped up in my mind:

" I remember a land of milk and honey, as clearly now as if it was yesterday. I can go there as often as i want to. Certainly when the rainbow is inviting me and showing me the way. When there, a am almighty, know everything and regain my perfect state of health.

This land was and is there for me before the Big Bang
This land is there for me after the Big Bang
This land will be there for me after the Big Crunch
This land is always in all ways there for me.....

This is the land where you are not born and where you did not die. It is yours always and because of this you can go there as much as you like and as often as you want.

It is inside you and you are able to envision it clearly. It can be found in every inch of the Universe. Every path you walk or fly there will lead you towards it and you can travel endlessly through it with the speed of light.

It is the Kingdom of Heaven and it is always yours. And creativity is at your fingertips.
Imagine, would it not be possible to bring this land more in the forefront in our plagued world of today? What if we all, each in our own way express this land, in the form of a new fairy-tale to all the children of the New Earth? "

It is the Eye of the Tiger, nothing is impossible. I remember i made a 3D virtual reality game in the beginning of the nineties with the title: "Mission impossible, or not?", accompanied by the music of the eye of the Tiger.

Love and imagination

Hello Deepak and Everyone,

Deepak writes and this is really a question that is asked by all, these days, and repeated frequently on all "news" shows,

The fifth anniversary of 9/11 passed with a clash of opinions. Are we safer than five years ago?

You can also ask this question about the time before 9/11. Before the actual event of 9/11 were we safer? True we were not at war with anyone, but were we safer? 9/11 was not an isolated event in history, it didn't just spring up, totally unexpectedly.

How honest can we be as a Nation in questioning ourselves and our political leaders? I hope for our own sakes we can stop this childish repetitive song and dance and really evaluate honestly our place in the World and our "reality" at home, politically.

We need to look at both sides of our coins, more than ever, if we are to survive our own destructive political "swift boat" corruptions.

Let us not be repetitive song and dance men and women for one side or the other, let us be RESPONSIBLE AMERICANS with the ability to choose what is best for ourselves and our future.

Dear Deepak,

I think you should take one of your seminars to relax a bit. I'm worried.

Amba

Dear Deepak,

Interesting piece. However, from the stand point of U.S. actions creating terrorists, it seems to me that the creation of terrorists has needed no help from the U.S. whatsoever. The Bush administration for all of its faults has taken action unlike Clinton's group that literally did nothing even when attacked. IMHO Clinton was too terrified of screwing up his poll numbers. Frankly, the arguement could be made quite effectively that it was the lack of ANY action by the previous administration that lead to the 9/11 attacks. Whether that is true or not, we will never know. This however, strikes me as more true then all of the conspiracy nuts that want to blame it on the "evil" Bush administration. People don't become President because of their deep abiding belief in helping people...they like the power.

As I've stated in many of my post, I happen to believe that the Bush administration made the wrong move with its invasion of Iraq. I think a much better move would have been having the U.S. literally stop buying ANY oil from Saudi Arabia...I guarantee if we were to stop buying oil for ONE WEEK from the Arabs the Saudi's would have Bin Laden in chains...terrorism would be done and everyone would be buddies with Israel. Billions of dollars speaks loudly. But we are addicted to oil and America likes its comfort too much to sacrifice...better to send a bunch of kids to Iraq so that we can feel "safe" rather than actually do something to make a change.

My belief is that neither the Republicans nor the Democrats have done anything to improve this situation. Their opposite "positions" are taken purely to acheive power. Right now the R's have it and D's want it...not so long ago it was the other way around the D's had it and R's wanted it.

Our government always works best in complete gridlock....I really hope that power becomes split right down the middle. Every day the government accomplishes nothing is a good day for the U.S.

Peace,
Scott.

How do you fix a broken, (and dead) Iraqi?

You kill ten more for every one you have already killed (this will not only 'fix-it,' but genocide is an excellent way to 'whittle-away' any insurgency).

Everybody seems quick to note that these 'terrorists' have been around for a while, but does anybody ask why? Let me give you a hint; study U.S. foreign policy for the last hundred years.

Human life is not like a Lego set . . .

Why do some fight and some cooperate? Well, in prison terms, the cooperators are snitch punks, as relates Frankl so succinctly in 'Man's Search for Meaning,' "only the prisoners could keep alive who, after years of trekking from camp to camp, had lost all scruples in their fight for existence; they were prepared to use every means, honest and otherwise, even brutal force, theft, and betrayal of their friends, in order to save themselves. We who have come back, by the aid of many lucky chances or miracles--whatever one may choose to call them--we know: the best of us did not return" (p. 19).

Any Arab or Iraqi who cooperates with the U.S. government is nothing more than a punk Capo! Amen.

The only way WE THE PEOPLE shall ever live in a free democracy is when we rid ourselves of the corrupt plutocracy that now 'governs' us, and WE THE PEOPLE become the government!

But if we continue to allow multi-millionaires (many times over) to govern us, we are all going to be nothing more than felonious inner-city Africans . . .

And as Katrina vividly displayed, we see what happens to those poor 'self-inflicted' bastards huh (you try to cross that bridge and we is going to shoot you dogs) . . .

No other man is my Lord, only Christ reigns o'er me, and if we the people want to be free, give Caesar back their filthy Mammon and let them go kill each other for their lifeless god . . .

and then Ruth I'll mow your lawn, plant you a garden, bring you some water; and if you like maybe you could fix me a sandwich. Norm, I will help you build that addition to your house; maybe you will even let me sleep in it for a night or two.

Why should the doctor and dentist have million dollar boats, and yet the people that hand them food every day cannot even afford their services? Why should the Ivy League lawyer, who has had the best education in the world, be able to then make laws that benefit him and his kind, while all of the people who are denied such a grand education are relegated to digging ditches and paying the lawyer's wage and medical insurance? How is it that lawyers make 20 times as much as public school teachers? How is it that Britney Spears is worth a hundred million dollars, or Donald Trump is worth a billion, and yet there are at least fifty million 'Americans' who live in poverty?

How is it that the Jerry Springer show is even allowed on TV!?!?!? (Ok, ok, exclude this last example, if people want to watch Springer that is their choice . . .).

No. No. No. No.

We Americans have got it all wrong!

Click screetch . . . . . . . “You say you want a Revolutionnnnnn, well you know . . .”

Bop, shooby-doo, bop bop, shooby-doo

How can one be self-sufficient when the real estate company, or ‘the city,’ ‘owns’ the land, the electric company ‘owns’ the energy, and the medical corporations ‘own’ the cures, and the government ‘owns’ the laws, and is held to account by only their own selves . . .

Freedom you say? Only if you have enough money to buy it!

I can’t save the world alone people, I cannot even save myself alone, but, then again, the Roman soldiers did kill Christ after all . . .

My faith in Christ demands more than simply hoping in Him, my faith demands action also! Where are you humans for humanity, where are WE THE PEOPLE?

Peace

Mieke very nice #16.

Seems awareness grows in leaps and bounds here based on all the other posts above. I think I mentioned here before as Yogi did, about keeping people divided down the middle so that a desired policy or candidate can be selected as needed through a small amount of manipulation. Still I wonder as a people are we naturally so equally divided or is it orchestrated?

We are often divided on the means to get there. Perhaps the other divisions are not so bad because when we take to extremes and integrate them we get a balanced middle. There is the third factor that interferes with our collective unified goals and that is the “Special Interests”. These special interests whether they are religious or related to concentration of wealth and power, distort the whole process, yet to do so they require a level of ignorance to exist. So the solution is awareness and intelligence, these are what can render the “special interests” impotent and allow the political process to work untainted. It is these things that will allow each of us to see through the appearances some attempt to create.

It is a truth that both parties have held the reigns and government and our situation stays the same, year after year, although every once and a while an exception shows up, like Kennedy I think, even perhaps Reagan. It really seems to be just a game. It is interesting to note that both had something in common.

There is a solution, and that is to put the reigns into the hands of the people.

It is the people, and it should be in every nation that should run the government, they are the government. The individuals in the government are not there to make decisions for us, they are there to carry out our collective will.

It is our collective will that is the authority, not the government. We tell the government what we want it to do. It shall follow our orders but we must speak with one clear authenticated voice.

The individuals in government will serve us the common people, not the few that would wish the common people to be as indentured servants controlled by government to the benefit of a few. The few that derive value from the system not though beneficial economic contribution but through manipulation and positions of influence.

I know for sure we are NOT divided on the issue of Peace, Shelter, Food, good entertainment with some vacation time and travel. We all would like that. The common people of all nations on this planet do not want war, they do not want to live in fear, and they want their children to play, laugh and be safe. Is it not the music of children’s laughter that brings joy to us all?

It is this common ground shared by the 6 billion people on this planet that we may use to eliminate those that pervert the systems, distort the information, and propagate their own illusions, to create an unnatural benefit for themselves. It is the benefactors of the fear industries that propagate fear and believe their own illusions of threat because this illusion allows them to live in luxury tomorrow, and to bathe in things gratifying to their own ego.

We do not need to attack anyone, not even those that through their own illusions and weakness and or greed, create and support a flawed system. What we need to do is propagate the awareness and intelligence to make null the ignorance that they depend on and these people along with their creations will no longer exist

That can be had with the help of a good ryme
The DJ's hype well and up to par
uh-oh there goes a cutie at the bar
So I stroll on over to her and say hi
And tell her I'm the P-L-A-Y
And would you like to dance awhile
I'll do anything to see your smile
See my job is to tell you how
after a couple of songs I'll require
having fun well i ain't done
The best is yet to come

Love, Passion!,

The anniversary of 9-11 passed almost uneventfully for me. I had no urge to revisit the pain, extreme emotionalism, heartache, fear and incredulity that marked the original day.

I move a little slower and watch my path a little more carefully and see so much that is set up and manufactured nowadays. I also avoid 'groups' more and see things from a wider view.

Dr. Chopra said; "It's difficult to live with painful uncertainty. The head has to overrule physical fear. Researchers in stress management point out that random stresses are more difficult to endure than predictable ones. A predictable stress would be something like the morning traffic jam that greets commuters every day. People don't like such stresses, but they cope with them normally. Terrorism, since it strikes out of the blue, is unpredictable, and therefore coping is much more difficult--Bush's policy of fighting all the time offers, if nothing else, a predictable response."

The last years have taught me that everything is unpredictable and flowing with life is better. It is incredibly sad that so many people have to keep dying to teach everyone that and that for some the ability to roll with life's punches means that they close their hearts. Terrorism and dealing with it necessitate closing of oneself and that is the goal of it - religion has nothing to do with it.

Cool. I'm glad people are angry. Anger is a great energy to bring about change.

Of course, there's a constructive way to channel anger, and a destructive one as well.

The constructive approach is to stay aware through your anger, and while it motivates you, also beware that you do not let it cloud your judgment or cause you to act without regard to consequences.

There is effective action voters can take. One is to write your congress people. The internet makes this as easy as it is to post up here. Start with this url:

www.congress.org/congressorg/home/

You can easily search your congresspeople's emails in a minute or less. Then craft an email that clearly expresses your feelings and send it. Also copy it into a saved document so you can quickly send variations of it to other influential people.

The right way to make the email is so that it clearly states the intensity of your feeling without descending into personal attacks, sloganeering, or name calling. Also be sure to check your facts. If you are claiming some truth about a historical event, be sure the facts support your opinion. This will get you much farther along than simple hate mail.
many congress people will return your email with a preprepared statement of their position of the issue you have raised. This is nalso good info to have. You will see what they are tellinjg the public, and by further checking thier voting record and tracing the sources of their campaign contributions (try www.opensecrets.org for this research) you can see if they are blowing a smokescreen of deception while they pander to their sugar daddies.

Blogging is OK, but direct contact with politicians is better. The trap with blogging is that you may fail to reach anyone who isn't already converted to your viewpoint.

It can be an interesting process to post on a site where the political opinions are usually different from your own.

If you post clearly, without ad-hominem attacks and descending into sloganeering and name calling, you will be very surprised that the other side has thinking folks too. Many of them have thought out their positions and have their reasons for their beliefs. This is useful and educational information to have. Plus it begins to build bridges across the divide. There are many people who are not 100% blue or red, but some combination. You can find common ground, and use that as a civil place to intelligently discuss differences.

Reviving the art of civil debate of the issues is a major part of restoring our political arena.

In politics, like religion, people tend to emotionally load up their beliefs and opinions, and get very defensive when challenged. Truth and real progress are the first casualties when this happens.

So I am saying, be angry, you have every right to be. But still move forward in a deliberate and compassionate manner. Know you history. Be sure your position is strong. Then find the people who you can be most effective with and engage them.

This is the attitude with which to work for change.

And be willing to change. You may discover that some highly charged up emotional opinion you have isn't really backed up by fact-checking and verification.

Be mature enough to acknowledge that, and continue on.

At the same time, understanding the psychology of the other side (in this case, the neo-consevative movement) is quite helpful.

John Dean's book Conservatives Without Conscience is a great book to read to get started on this.

Also there's a new book called Hubris: The Inside Story of Spin, Scandal, and the Selling of the Iraq War
by Michael Isikoff (of Newsewek), David Corn (of The Nation). This book goes pretty deeply into the behind the scenes. I heard their interview on Democracy Now and they seemed like they had really done a good job with their research.

Democracy Now is a good news source to get stories not being covered my the mainstream media.

And don't make the mistake of confusing Goldwater (or traditional) Conservatives with the Neo-cons.

In fact a strong case can be made that the neo-cons are not conservatives at all, but rather are radicals.

Traditional conservatives believe in fiscal responsibility, a cautious approach to becoming involved in overseas wars, and while they are mostly Christians, they still believe in the separation of church and state. They also believe in the media as a neutral news-reporting source that should not be totally controlled by a single political faction.

The neocons, conversely, are rushing radical amendments to the law through congress, spend uncontrollably, and have a plan to keep us engaged in wars in the Middle East for at least the next generation.
Neocons explicitly call for removal of the separation clause concerning the establishment of a state religion from the constitution, and have made overt and covert attempts to buyout, intimidate, or suppress the media, or at least staff it with other neo-conservatives (for example, the current head of programming for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting is a former chairman of the Republican National Committee - did you know that?).

So you may be surprised to find that actual conservatives are people we need to be building alliances with.

Just some thoughts...

Thank you Richard for your extensive explanation :) Looking forward to the next part.

I do agree that the fear factor is a big one.

Today i read a rather intrigueing article in one of our national newspapers about a lecture of David Lynch, a movie director, that he gave at the Free University in our country about transcendental meditation.

He meditates twice a day for 20 minutes, already for 33 years and the result is a total awareness, a dive inside into an endless ocean of knowing. THE solution against fear, stress and negativity, according to him. And not to him only :) (he mentions Maharishi, i mention Deepak).

Students here asked him how it was possible that such a "dark film" director who made almost every dark and negative side of human consciousness visible and tangible in his films, can live on such a cloud of positivity.

Part of his profound answer was: You do not have to suffer to show the suffering. On the contrary, it is even better when you do not suffer. Those negative emotions only make your view on reality obscure. Anger, fear and stress are a poison for yourself and your surroundings. With your full awareness you can see the things from within and your creativity stays sharp.

Anger, fear and stress, this is what indeed a minority wants the majority to believe in.

Things are getting better in Holland, David Lynch said, amongst others because we are the first in the world to have a permanent collective of meditation. Therefore a more relaxed atmosphere can develop and is already developing, you will only have to look at things with different eyes :)

Mieke: Sorry I'm late, to a place where you can never be late too!

I accidentally wrote the Event Horizon destination down on an ego-slip of paper--what a slip, I bounced off the Watchtower on that quantum banana peel, and poof......well, still swirling and reeling around, up on the rim of the horizon.

Maybe if I stretch a little vertically...., the light curving into my face keeps knocking me backwards--what a wind is "the Sound," as well--

AUM sounds like a foghorn blasting an echo off the shores of Portugal--I think it's blast is getting the Liberty Bell to swinging, and.....I can hear tens-of-thousands of gongs going off in the high Himalayas---ooopppsss-hope I didn't knock anything over--I'll think I'll hang with you, here in the belltower of Big Ben--just give me a minute to stop swaying from the heights--always makes me swimmy-headed at first.

All I really wanted to say is, Mieke, well....I wrote it on another slip of paper before I left my apt.--"Ahhhh," Yes--Here it IS: It says, "'Now,' Mieke, before we before we start paddling these light boards down the face of one of these quantum waves, let's remember this: What happens to the meaning of almost any version of a published Bible, anywhere in the world, if we translate the vast number of times the word "land" is written in the Bibles of the world, and change it to....?????--"consciousness," or state-of-awareness?

Interesting ideas, n'est pas?! Dave

Mieke: Also, if you get lost too; just think of Nicolas Cage, in "The City of Angels," and think of standing at the top of Big Ben, by the clock--we'll get there, even if it's "foggy, and Patzi and I bump into you and Geeta (ssshhhh--Keith's close to--don't let him hear us,--you know what happens, I can't help pushing him off his light board just as the wave's taking off!).....

"See You," Mieke--Dave

Talking about logical argumentation, Yogi-One are you missing the point entirely?

Let me see here, I am going to write a letter to 'my' congressman, uhh, whoops, congressperson, and say, "hey, can we the people have a revolution to displace you with . . .";

and you get a 'no-prize' if you correctly guess their answer! He-he, just giving you a bad time brother.

Of other capitalist news of the day: ‘Israelis disillusioned by corruption scandals;’
included is a brief excerpt: “The roots of the problem lay in Israel’s shaky transformation from a socialist society focused on the collective good, to a capitalist nation where people only look out for themselves, said novelist Etgar Keret.”
article found at: http://[space here to de-link]www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14866070/

And then I find myself casually surfing the net to find some like-minded people, and I found this rather interesting, yet horribly distasteful, web site called stormfront dot org and lo and behold I find:

Tristania writes: “As someone mentioned, it IS an election year, so everyone should make sure to call or write their representatives and let them know you will only be voting for them if they will work to crack down on illegals.”

To which vajo Jr replies: “Do you really believe that talking to these people will help? If they listened to people such as yourself, they'll be loseing [sic] the money that goes into their pockets from useing [sic] these people to get rich. As long as the jew is in control of these politicians, things will never change.”

And I am thinking ‘my God!’ in looking for comrades I happen upon Nazis, proving that the Lord indeed does have a sense of humor. The KKK still exists? My Lord, we are ugly and pathetic little creatures are we not?

I love you my brother AmbaSteve, and while I know we may have profound ideological differences, my self-hate shall never morph into hating the other, hating ‘the Jews,’ or ‘the Anglos,’ or ‘the rich man,’ or Mexicans; how so like dark age-ish man!

The world will never be changed for the better through hate nor violence, and if we have not learned that lesson yet (as we obviously have not) then indeed there is no hope: but I must keep trying!

Nevertheless, I did find a good quote on the Nazi site: "The right of revolution is an inherent one. When people are oppressed by their government, it is a natural right they enjoy to relieve themselves of oppression, if they are strong enough, whether by withdrawal from it, or by overthrowing it and substituting a government more acceptable."
- General Ulysses S. Grant
{Now that is what I am talking about, non-violently of course!]

Peace all

ahh mieke, what a classic peace of writing....land before big bang... after big crunch...where you can land at anytime...or BE ....in that land of the One there are no differences...not een between matter and consciousness....

LOVE

Dear Mieke,
I have found that suffering can be the gateway into ... freedom.
What a discovery!
With love,

Hi Harb,
How amazing it is to land into each other's consciousness!

:)

Born! This morning at a quarter to six (our time, september 17), another Divine Music Maker called Daan Jac, which we of course immediately abbreviated as DJ :)

Wow, grandmother and grandfather again. On a sunny Sunday in the autumn of our lives.

Dear Mieke,
I celebrate with you and your family.
The evening fog has lifted, clear skies and pure moon rays are shining through.
Love and Blessings to DJ, and his wonderful family. It is so exciting!
Love,
~ Kate

Very nice Marek!

Lots of good stuff on the last link. :)

Dear Deepak,
In a country where generals and businessmen become top diplomats things can go awry on the international front. It's time to look for a real ambassador to the U.N. It's time to say unequivocally no to torture and to protect this country with more legitimate means.
We have never been more unsafe and looked more despicable on the international scene.

This is a magnificent country with a glorious past. It's time for a change in leadership, to show the world that America can and will lead the next century with scientific, effective methods for solving the world's most urgent problems. Then, I will be comfortable again carrying my American passport. (Sorry, but today I would feel safer if I could travel with my former Italian passport, courtesy of Pres. Bush foreign policy, i.e. war policy. It goes without saying that we are not hated because of who we are.)

Maybe, the corruption is on both sides, but the Republican side has recently tilted the balance with an unprecedented number of scandals.

Peace,
Donatella
P.S. I want to thank you for bringing the ATCA to Intentblog. Although short-lived, their contribution has inspired me. I will certainly miss DK Matai and the wonderful ATCA members who have contributed here.

Dear Kate,

Thank you for joining us in our celebration. I have held DJ in my arms. It was a most joyous, deeply felt experience that brought back many memories...

Celebrating life with you deeply from my heart :)

Love and blessings to you and yours, Mieke

congratulations meike! don juan was also dj lol

love, harb

Congratulations, Mieke!

D.J. will enjoy belonging to a musical family.

May he bring many joys to all of you

and sing his own song for the multitudes,

shedding a new light in the fog of days to come!

Dear Stan,

Brilliant observation and astute prognostification, as per post #11 above!

You stated:

"I predicted to all my friends and clients last June that we would see a dramatic drop in the price of oil before the November elections.

This has already started. One month ago, oil was 78 dollars and it is now 63.

Does anyone find it strange that this drop in oil is happening just prior to the (upcoming mid-term) elections? I don’t..."

And Stan, have you also noticed that a bin Laden fear tape always appears just prior to an important American election?

Remember the one in 2004, where Laden appeared as a news anchor... warning of dire consequences...?

Is bin Laden Bush's friend or foe? Facts are sometimes stranger than fiction.

Soon, I will provide this audience with a series of incredible facts!

It is said that eternational vigilance is the price of democracy! Indeed!

Until next time...

Thanks Harb, guess it is in our genes no matter what lol

Dear Keith, i hope so too, thanks for the wishes.

Hi Ron, i have read your messages on open thread, glad to know that your wife and children had a good time in Poland and arrived safely back at your place :)

Looking forward to the incredible facts..
This unconscious of ours is getting more aware day by day :)

(Thank you so much Marek for these nice congratulations).

De beschuit met muisjes is een traditie. Smaakt ook zo lekker lol
(This kind of biscuit is a tradition. Tastes delicious).

Veel liefs, Mieke

Deepak,

what makes you think that there will be no terrorists/jehadists if american soldiers take off from Arabia.

What is the guarantee that after the americans leave, the entire arab world does not exponentially increase its terrorist capacity. MOre so in a few years they will have nuclear sucide squads. That will be the start of anarchy in the new world.....there will be no turning back. What if american inaction right now leads to such a situation??? we are talking about the existence of a nation here and that happens to be our good old america. I am sure, god forbid, if such a situation ever arises there will me billions of americans demanding reasons for the governments inaction. Even if america is cashing upon the arab oil...ultimately the average american is benefitting from it, which includes you. People like you have no takers in Africa where people have to fight for their daily calories. There spirituality and self actualization do not exist, as the basic needs of humans are not met.

To understand the arab politics you need to understand what a common arab or muslim thinks.....what defines his ethics....and what creates his perception.

The perception of muslims towards life is greatly flawed. They cannot and will not share this planet with any other way of life that is unislamic. This is indoctrined into them since their birth, politics and america enter much later into their life.

What is needed is to fight this perception which provides a support base to those who weild a kalashnikov in one hand and a religios book in the other.

regards

Amit

I can only Admire your point of view Amit in contrast to many here. It's very much possible. War or no War the American govt is bound to be questioned what the Islamic fascists are doing. Who is in fog here?? Could it be us?

Foggy....Yeeeeoowwwww....it's foggy out here!! Blurred lines of right and wrong....

Well, lets see if we can stir up a ruckus here!!

The pope!! Ahhh yes, the pontiff!! He quoted someone, who showed Mohammed in less than a perfect light!! Hmmmm....lessee here!! A nun has already been murdered, and war has been declared....wow!!

Now, if someone at a place of higher learning in the US, decides to cast aspersions at Christianity, or Catholicism...things get really rough!! Some of the Christians will actually write letters to the editor of their paper!! They might even hold a street corner demonstration!! They're tough!!

Let's see now...a few months ago...weren't there some cartoons lampooning Mohammed?? Diddn't a lot of people die??

Well...here's the Kentucky, Redneck, boot in the ass take on it!! The pope, and every other leader of the free world should hold a press conference and say, "these Jihadists, are lowdown, murdering thugs!! And if the Koran actually tells them to do what they're doing, Mohammed was a lowdown murdering thug also! And to all the so called moderate Muslims out there: where the hell is your condemnation of these yahoos, and why aren't you marching in the streets voicing your opposition to the one's who have hijacked your 'peaceful' religion? Could it be....it's really not a peaceful religion??"

Actually, the Fog is clearing a way just a little bit now.....we can see clearly....there really is aright and a wrong here!!

C'mon Deepak....blog again about the 'poverty' that causes a mutlimillionaire bin laden to become a terrorist!!

Whew...those fog lights are blinding me...

norm

HI Norm,
Just caught your post so I'm not sure if I'm completely on topic but I just want to say that countless people have been murdered in the name of Christianity. As many or more as in the name of Islam or other religions. Which would make Christ and all the other profits weep.

Could it be that it is not the true teachings of any faith that condone murder?

People start religions after the profits are long gone. Perhaps their intentions are good, but after so long people forget the message of love, forgiveness, equality and compassion that was at the heart of their teaching. I'm not sure about Mohammed, but I've heard that his message was of love too.

Love, Kristin

It was quite an interesting Redneck take norm! It's quite a norm here, if you've noticed to blame America for everything. The moderates will not say a word, they happily support them. Oh! Hang on! How did you get in here?? You're a republican. No place for you here at democratic IB.

It is interesting to note that while we discuss about "Arab oil" - which, at least this point of time, we all need and use in myriad ways - and its terrorist consequences, nothing is said about countries whose economy is based completely or partially on weapon industry - which, unlike oil, mankind does not need.

Shouldn't we start to talk like 'US arms', 'Scandinavian arms' or 'Israeli arms'that kill people?

Dear Ron,

I have sent you a couple of emails which both came back with a message from Internet mail delivery: unable to deliver message after 1 day, too many failures to this host during this run, skipping.

I guess it is rather foggy there :)

Theodore Roosevelt: "Speak softly but carry a big stick."

George W. Bush: "Use a big stick until everyone's unafraid."
