Peace has a lot to do with individual effort. Over a period of time, bad news has become a part of our psyche. Peace has become a very personalized feeling-
I am peaceful, I am at peace, I am in a peaceful place- its not something that is happening to me, its not that there is peace all around me.
I think the only person or personal theory on peace that applies is that of Gandhiji, whether we think its outdated or not. One man with a vision pushed a huge country to acquire freedom. Nowadays, politicians and nations resolve immediately to violence to get affect change. We must adopt the non-violent policy of Gandhiji, otherwise we will continue adding to the disaster around us.
Peace must be incorporated into our day-to-day lives, or else we will not have peace, but pieces. Pieces of unhappiness, pieces of land, displaced people, disaster. As it is natural calamities surround us, with global warming and our overall abuse of the earth, we are heading towards disaster. Peace must come from each of our individual efforts.
Thank you,
Anupam Kher

Dear Anupam kher sahab,
This message is unrelated to your blog...But i have wanted to say this...I saw your recent picture khosla ka ghosla.I loved your acting and you reminded me of my father a lot.Your pizza scene where you are sitting in front of air conditioner and ask for chutney brought tears into my eyes...
My daughter is 8 years old and is raised in united states.she wrote in her journal about your movie which i'm copying sic
Movie Review : khosla ka ghosla
"Well what should i say khosla ka ghosla is a good movie. It is ok for kids it is realistic fiction.I think Bomon irani did a great job as khurana sab.Now let's donot forget about Mr khosla anupum kher.He remind me of my grandfather.Who lives in Delhi.I like this movie a lot"
Dear Anupam, great reminder, of where the source of peace actually IS--within. It is there first, we must recognise it, nurture it, and share it. It takes focus of each one of us, to acquire global peace; and this peace, will turn this planet into a beautiful gardened sanctuary.
With loving kindness,
North
Dear Anupam
I was amazed to see that you wrote something called "Peace, not Pieces" just above Rahul Pandita's "A Piece of Peace". You wrote pragmatically, Rahul P. wrote lyrically, but you both sent essentially the same message. Your minds and spirits appear to have resonated with each other, within a minute of each other, yesterday evening.
Not only is that a cool thing to have happened, generally speaking, but also the message you sent is one that resonates and echos within me, as well.
Shukriya & love, Heather
Its difficult to imagine what just our individual efforts can achieve but then again, there has to be a begining somewhere and where better to start than ourselves a place where we are totally in control
We all have that mindset of "how can i alone change the world" ..I think if we can work towards getting rid of that, we could become more at peace with ourselves. make smaller achievments and sacrifices that will lead to greater goals and achievments.

Dear Anupam: It's true that consumerism and the concomitant widening of the gap between haves and havenots has left the world a bloodied place. But, I disagree with you that Gandhiji or Gandhigiri is the sole solution to this malaise. I believe all of us, including you and me, have a duty to perform towards our co-inhabitors of this earth. It is our selfish behavior that begets crime and criminally fertile minds that politicians exploit. If each of us try to give back something to society, the concept of peace would return naturally. If I could afford higher studies in my prime, it is my duty to pass on my knowledge to a few underprivileged persons. Ditto with wealth. And more so with empowerment. A democracy is said to empower people. Today what power does the man on the street (I include you in this category) have but to cast his vote once in five years? Have those who wield power ever tried to empower others? Gandhiji came on the scene when India was reeling under imperialist yolk. He showed us a common goal. Today, we have none! And hence all the troubles. Could you come to the forefront and start a movement of empowerment? I am ready to join you in the cause.
Hi Anupam Sir,
I have a very weird but important request and it doesn't relate to this blog and i apologize to barge in like this.
So my girlfriend really loves your movie 'Janam'. She saw it when she was a kid, in Albania ( her home country)and every time bollywood comes up ( i.e. Daily)she wouldn't stop talking about this movie about how it is the best bollywood movie she has seen.
I have looked everywhere for this movie, in India and in US, but was unable to acquire a copy for the movie. I really am not exxagurating when i say everywhere, i have searched for it to the point that im so desperate to do what i am doing right now.
I feel if i could get her this movie, it will make her real happy. and i would deeply appreciate if you could point me to a library or store that you feel would have a copy for this movie. I know you are a busy man and maybe u might not even get to read this request, but, if you do, please any help would be deeply appreciated.
Again, i apologize for bothering you again.
Thanks a lot Sir!!
