One can see the positive effects of say european openess compared to suppression found in the US or Iraq. The bible belt areas in the US actually have greater violence then the liberal urban areas per capita.

Sexual repression is behind a lot of the conflict in the world. Conflict and stress render a society impotent and weak.

Guilt and shame around sex is used for manipulation and control by some institutions.

The Bonobos have a great and well demonstrated model for a peacful society. They use sex to counter aggression and the females are in charge. Feminine energy is not oppressed like it is on most of the planet. Some places worse than others.

Everyone gets laid, they share, and there is no fighting and violence.

Thanks for an interesting post, I'm all for National Orgasm Day :).

However, I think the whole Clinton sex scandal has been misrepresented. The actual impeachment happened because there were accusations that Clinton attempted to use the power of the Executive branch to trump the judicial system in the Paula Jones civil case. If that was the case, then the 60 million would be worth it. Clinton was accused of sexual harassment and perjured himself. The Monical Lewinsky affair had nothing to do with the impeachment, the fact that he lied about it in a court of law was the issue as it pertained to what he was accused of. And in fact I do think that a man that has the power to launch nuclear weapons should be held to higher standard than a guy that sells Earth Shoes.

I think it's fine that french officials sleep with whoever they want. I think sex is great and I agree with another poster here that says that repression is the cause of sexual crime. However when it come to politics, I think a lot of Americans think that if a politician can't keep a vow to the person that he loves the most, how is he to keep a vow to his constituency?

To me there's no great virtue in sleeping around. To me it's just hubris and a lack of discipline. Although both are rampant in politics, it doesn't mean that we should just give it the "okay", either with our officials or more importantly with ourselves.

Personally, I'm not concerned about the personal lives of political leaders, including their sexual escapades. However, I don't see the value in going to the opposite extreme and glorifying behavior that is potentially hurtful to others, particularly family and friends.

Men who rape, whether or not, it is during a war, are men who seek control and power through violence, and, usually, during a war, it is more so, because they can get away with it, without fear of punishment. Having many sexual partners does not, at all, mean there is lot of "lovemaking" going on, it probably means there is a lot of masturbation going on, except, instead of using your own hands, you get to use another's body.

Most of the time sex is just sex, with very little lovemaking involved in the process.

The fact that one culture dismisses the sexual exploits of it's politicians and another doesn't can be interesting, but, most likely completely unimportant.

Should't you be a bit more responsible before calling for a global orgasm? Such a thing has never been tried before (since night falls in different times in different places.) If the whole world were to experience a single global orgasm, why, anything might happen--the planet might explode, or we might find ourselves entangled in a single quantum state and every pair of lovers conciously stuck to the collective, forever.

You might want to be a bit more responsible before calling for planet-changing events like this one. There is just not enough scientific data to predict what will happen yada yada yada . ;)

having sex with your mom or sister or daughter or a prostitute, can result in the creation of a baby who has as much right to exists in this world as any of you.

sex is our foundation which helps us to procreate and survive as a specie and evolve as a spiritual being with the attached love component. That evolution should not have any hindrance due to the 'culture' we have so far evolved. Our 'intelligence' should allow and encourage and advertise the freedom to have sex and explore sex from all angles be that be in politics, marriage, sexual love or anything else whatsoever to do with sex. That begins with having our culture rise up to encourage sexual love in all its forms.
