Dear Saira, I come from just completing my physio-therapy for a very bad arm/elbow/shoulder. My first week! I'd like to share, "how" a person becomes "dependant" on mental/physical suppressants.

.. as many of you know by now, I am fifty years old..a lone woman. In India I would be doomed to unspeakable circumstance. Here in Canada, our government and tax payers, support our financial need, for lodging, utilities, water, food. It is a very small amount recieved, in comparison to the high standards of living we face; we are currently, close to 30% below "standard poverty" levels. (gentle frown)

Too many human beings; one day are as normal as you Saira, or you, DK; until an accident occurs, or a severe illness, or malpractice of ones practitioner.

People, whom are financially dependant on the system, are just not treated as quickly, nor as well as a tax-payer, or wealthier person. Facts! We all know this.

I am leading to something here, and I have a gel ice bag on my shoulder, elbow, and I wish I had a third one, for my neck!! I am breaking my physio, in typing this.. but, this story, has touched me deeply, and personally.

I started phsyio, last tuesday; after being on a "list" for three years, and three months!! I won't go into details, but let me say; I have physically suffered, to extents to which I prayed for the deep sleep of death to take me some night; just to not feel so much physical pain.

We read books, and learn on our own or not; how to manage our pain; and the inherent emotional challenges, and mental upheavals of the pain, the lack of social and medical care... to this day, I cannot "understand" why I have had to wait so long, other than what I suggested above, as "fact."

So, what we have here, is a human failure, to secure care for every "one." We, as institutions of science, medicine, and religious facades, and corrupt, tyrannous governments, are the pawns which win or lose elections.

One political party, will cry fowl of anyone on the system, as fake, fraudulent, scum, bums, alchoholics, synthetic drug junkies and thieves. When it comes to the bottom dollar, this kind of party often wins an election campaign.

ON the other spectrum of pawning the "financially dependant" of the social swim; they cry "save them" and love them anyway. But, where are they really, when we are waiting three years, for physio, to correct pain, which causes one to wish for the sleep of death as a merciful god-willing gift?

So, people in my situation, become helpless, and hopeless; too many succumb to the traps set forth for them, like addictions...but who are the providers and enablers of these addictive "things?"

How can we put a pricetag on a persons life this way?

Being fifty, and with many ailments, I cannot take booze, drugs, not even codiene!! I cannot begin to express, the depth-hold of my suffering.

I believe to this day, that if I had allowed myself to fall into the traps set forth... as I waited all this time.. well, I believe, I would be like them--the walking dead.

As such, just because I am on the system, people in my community assume I am one of the above. I am in a catch-22.

Some say, it is a choice to become addicted.

I say, it was and is, the "enablers" of the addictive elixir's which are the true conspirators to unjust suffering, of the human body and spirit's well-being!

But alas, not everyone has my courage and strength, to not take things, to ease the pain, even if it makes me "sick."

But alas again, should the suffering, not be provided for, in the same value as another; without judgement of financial status? This is where... we have a great divide, which enables the suffering spirits in the world, to fall prey to political "partying."

with loving kindness, I must stop.. I have severely overdone it.. but I was trying to make a valid point... but the pain is overcoming me...

Get my point? 3 years, plus 3 months.. just because I am 50, a lone woman, and dependant on social disability..which chides me for the financial dependancy, yet will not provide relief-therapy of the injury/diseases... to be independant again? geez!

If I were not this woman; I would have had treatment long ago, I could have been part-time working around my disabilities all this time..

but no.... we raise walls, to high to climb, and rivers, to deep to cross, and we become invizible pawns, to a system so corrupt, it makes me wonder..

how have I been able, all these years, to resist? What can I give someone, to show them, one can tolerate "all" without a "thing" other than inner courage and strength, to resist temptations, which are pitfalls, and social deprivations of corporate greed, and medical neglect.

who makes, and sells these things?
corporations

who permits it?
government

where is the money?
corporate-government

where is a junkie?
in the web of lies

Lastly, my point here also is; while so many groups and associations feast at fancy dinners on steaks, and salmon, and delicate dainty sweets and wines, in great hotels around the world; costing hundreds of thousands a year, just to talk about social "causes" on the agenda;

why can't they enjoy a burger-barbeque one-time or two instead; have a good old-fashioned family camp-out? and send the hundreds of thousands spent on such a dinner throughout the year..to the "poor" tables, they are supposedly supporting?

I cannot understand how groups can feast on lobster, when those they suppose/propose, to protect, hunger?

It's hypocritical of their mandate, isn't it? It baffles me, why the rich get perks, such as costs of food/lodging/gas and a vehicle, clothes and makeup as tax write-offs; when those they are "acting for" hunger, and aren't recieving physical therapy, to get better?

Maybe, if one group would have had a bbq 3 years ago...instead of a bi-annual fancy dinner, I could have had physio much sooner?

how can we not ask these questions of the systems out there??

Like others here, I've lost friends to drug addictions. When someone's in the grip of an addiction, all images of their future hells are meaningless. We can pray for them, and gods may intervene, but the patterns of their lives will take them down to death, or pull them out, back to life. The faces of meth are most valuable as a warning before addictions start. Meth permanently damages the brain quite seriously -- much more seriously than most other addictive substances, including alcohol, which is pretty bad.

...just checked out those shocking pictures...i am at a loss for words to describe the drammatic change...the before and after...talking about a face make over...i dont think this is what they had in mind...look at the rapid decline...the speeded-up aging process...the grotesque...tell-tale facial sores...y..would anyone even want to try this nasty drug? what a waste ...! whoa...man alive!

shocking photos!! I just em'd the link to my eldest sis, whom is a sexual abuse councelor, but for 25 years prior, was a family addictions councelor.

This film, should be shown for all high school, AND college students!!

is meth.. the same as methadone, which they give junkies to get off pills?
