Minor Detail

Gotham Chopra - January 01, 2007

Here's a little reported detail that I tripped upon today around the execution of Saddam Hussein. Turns out that one minor detail in Irag's emerging political protocol requires the Iraqi President to sign off on the execution of any convicted critical.

However, on Friday as the zero hour for Saddam's execution approached, the current Iraqi President Jalal Talabani - a repeated critic and opponent of the death penalty - could not be reached and his signiture not ascertained.

Unsure of what to do, Iraq's current Prime Minister got on the phone with American President George W. Bush seeking his avice.

You guessed it - Dubya recommended that Al Maliki proceed with the execution and not worry about getting the President's official signature.

Sure - it's unclear still what exactly are the actual poliical protocols that are required in Iraq's emerging government - but the fact that the US would encourage such haste is disturbing.

Equally bad is the unofficial video recorded in the death cahamber via cellphone that has now made its way all over Iraq and the world. This video shows a defiant and fearless Saddam as the object of derision and taunting from his executioners. What was supposed to be the efficient meting out of justice clearly appears more an act of revenge perpitrated by Saddam's sectarian rivals - shiite Muslims.

Conclusion: this whole thing was botched. Iraq's a total mess. And the events of the last week - the extermination of a disgusting and inhumane despot - with the assistance and encouragement of the Americans, has likely made things worse. More American soldiers died in Iraq in December than in any month prior during the war. If I were a betting man, I'd say the odds are pretty good that January will be even worse.

So, now what's the plan George?

I hear ya Gotham. I have not yet seen the execution video, and I am not going to go out of my way to view it either, even though I know it is literally a click away (and I have purposely not watched any news for awhile now) . . .

Peace

Hello Gotham and Everyone,

I do hope that our Representatives in Congress, as well as, the President and Vice President, hear a big NO from all Americans when he proposes to increase our troop levels in Iraq, or will he hear silence and take that for a yes to his new and better plan to continue with this obvious failure.

Remember, George's plan is a wash if Americans stand up and say NO. NO MORE. It looks like if Americans want this President to stop, then we had better make it stone cold clear to him.

peace, ruth

Americans haste to do away with Saddam in haste has brought their intentions before the worid , all their blue-eyed boys end up this way, Musharaf better be fore-warned lest he too may end up the same way.

Gotham,

I wasn't aware of this, interesting. I would add the other thing about perspective; Saddam was convicted for killing Shiite terrorists that plotted to kill assassinate him. There was apparently collateral damage. Of course this is very similar to what Bush has done although not on our own soil.

That being said I am not in a position to judge either Bush or Saddam because they were born innocent children into an insane world. I think though what is important is that the truth be brought to light and this is what justice is about. Also the blame does not fall on Bush, he is just one man, people that try to blame Bush are using him as a scapegoat for their own failure, transgressions against Self, and “lack of action” and participation.

You said.

"but the fact that the US would encourage such haste"

That is a statement based on an illusion; the "US" did not encourage haste. A few, maybe one US citizen made the decision.

The "US" cannot really do anything until there is a method/system to measure, authenticate, validate and publish our collective intent.

However the blame does not really lie with the "government" (which does not think, make decisions, or own any assets) or our representatives.

The people of the United States have a fiduciary responsibility to make sure that our elected officials act according to the beneficial "will" and "intent" of the people.

It is our responsibility to make sure that representatives create a system by which they can measure our intent and be held accountable to following our will born of our collective wisdom and not individual ego or ignorance.

The true "will" and "intent" of the people when not subjected to duress.

For 2007 there should come into being a method/system to measure, authenticate, validate and publish our collective intent.

At some point we will actually collectively make decisions. Of course it is important that an independent media has an established practice first so that a centralized media cannot easily skew popular perspective, it looks like this requirement is coming into place.

A subscription to a belief system is to embrace a false reality, a fabrication. Simply knowing without judgment is what leads to a desirable life experience.

It is not until the realization that one’s self is caught up in illusion that one comes to see that everyone else is also their own same self caught up in Illusion.

So in the eternal game of hide and seek, the finding, is one self’s realization which then proceeds to wake all the rest of one’s self from the illusion.

When all facets escape paradise follows.

There is something that one is required to understand if one is to advance in spiritual understanding and higher awareness.

That is that nothing is horrifying. Nothing is barbaric or disgusting or distasteful. People are what they are and they do what they do.

Saddame Hussain, Myself and yourself are a volume of potentials. We each are capable of terrible and also great things.

When you have real understanding then there you no longer need to allow barbaric behaviour to influence your state of awareness. You just see all action as Action and not as Barbaric or as disgusting etc etc etc as has been described in the account of Saddame. Some action is Positive action and some is Negative.

What about an Animal in a slaughter house having its throat cut and then butchered and eaten?.... is that any less barbaric or disgusting than what Saddame Hussaine has been doing... Life is Life after all as well as consciousness is consciousness yet you do not go to the nearest slaughter house and try and hang the guys working there.

When you say this is Barbaric and this disgusting it is an observation from a dilluded point of view.. it is nothing but a conditioned reaction to an action.

Understand that everything is possible.... Saddame Hussaine is possible, the people who hanged him are possible and that is all that is real the possibilities are real only not their actions or your reactions.

The flow of possibilities has ended with the result of Him being hanged that has came to be and has happened..... just like the possibilities of him murdering and torturing others that to came to pass.

There are a lot of people on the band wagon with this whole issue and dramatising it for their own needs.

Get over yourself.

Not to forget the wonderful game of tag, I touch your mind and you realize you are it!

Row row row your boat....

very clever I AM... I left myself clues and bread crumbs.. before allowing myself to forget.

I wonder why is it we don't focus on the one thing that Saddam said that is of importance.

His last statement to the world, based I imagine on looking at his own life and how it played out and the predicament he came to be in.

His own life lesson.

"Do not hate" ~Saddam Hussein

It was hate and it's sibling fear that gave birth to the destruction and violence, for to hate is giving full support to the illusion of separation and to fear is to deny the truth of God as all being.

It was hate and fear in others that created the mold that produced Saddam Hussein.

If you want to understand the situation (finite games played) in Iran. Read about Operation Ajax

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Ajax or click my name. Or click my name

Operation Ajax (1953) (officially TP-AJAX) was a covert operation by the United Kingdom and the United States to remove the democratically elected nationalist[1] cabinet of Iranian Prime Minister Mohammed Mossadegh from power, to support the Pahlavi dynasty and consolidate the power of Mohammed Reza Pahlavi. The idea of overthrowing Mossadegh was conceived by the British. They originally asked President Truman for assistance, but he refused. When Eisenhower became president in 1953, the British proposed the idea once again, and this time, the Americans agreed to help.

Rationale for the intervention included Mossadegh’s socialist political views and his nationalization, without compensation, of the oil industry which was previously operated by the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (which later changed its name to The British Petroleum Company) under contracts disputed by the nationalists as unfair. A particular point of contention was the refusal of the Anglo-Iranian Oil company to allow an audit of the accounts to determine whether the Iranian government received the royalties it was due. Intransigence on the part of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company led the nationalist government to escalate its demands, requiring an equal share in the oil revenues. The final crisis was precipitated when the oil company ceased operations in Iran rather than accepting the Iranian government's demands.

I watched that flash video seems to cover the facts.

One detail missing is that Kuwait was slant drilling. In other words drilling into Iraq oil reserves.

FOLLOW THE MONEY

If you really want to understand the cause and effect relationships, just look at where the money flowed and to which corporations and who sat on the boards, not much different then WWII.

Iraq went bankrupt after the 8 year war with Iran, where do you think all the money went, and guess how much they had to borrow with interest due and from whom.

NOW HERE IS SOME TRIVIA QUESTIONS

What US president was made to sit in the 17th row during a major royal event next to a couple dignitaries from a small arab country, and why?

Who was really the instigator behind the take over of the US Embassy in Iran ...

WATERGATE HAD PLUMBERS

The Kennedy assasination (COUP) had?

CARPENTERS.

If photos and documentation appeared on the Internet showing a secret compound that was built prior to the assasination that was a replica of Dealey Plaza, who could explain it?

Not me, maybe Lee Harvey Oswald, but I suppose the media would pay big bucks to get there hands on them first.

I guess since everything is in divine order there are no bad guys and good guys, just players in the game.

infinite players and finite players..

Per an article in the International Herald Tribune, it was the United States reminding them of the required approval of Talabani, a Kurd, signed on decree. Instead, they obtained a letter. "From Talabani, it obtained a letter saying that while he would not sign a decree approving the hanging, he had no objections." He is apparently against capital punishment, so I suppose he would never have signed a decree, but I'm not clear on that.

I'd love the source on the story of Bush's go-ahead advice. Tried searching it.

Well, now that you mention, that, Richard, and I'm watching Gladiator, with a buddy, funny synchro.. thing, BTW, anyhow, for the, I don't remeber.. time,

Well, I must say, that is the first real hanging I have ever witnessed. I think Saddam acted with a graceful composure few could match. Now let us try a branch of real war criminals, like the Executive and Senatorial branches of the U.S. government, for some comparative analysis footage.

Then mayhap we could actually try to build a real democracy right here in the U.S.A . . .

“in the United States, I don’t even think we have elections in much more than a formal sense. We don’t have elections in the sense that other countries do, countries that are themselves hardly models of democracy. Take the second-largest country in the hemisphere, Brazil. Something happened in Brazil that is unimaginable in the United States. Someone was elected president who actually comes out of the general population; he was a union leader who had no higher education. There are actually political parties in Brazil, unlike here—not just candidate-producing organizations. With all of its very serious flaws, the Brazilian Workers’ Party is a political party. People participate in it in various ways, it’s doing things all the time, it’s got social programs and so on. There are mass popular movements, like the landless workers’ movement, which is huge. There are professional associations, there are unions, there are all sorts of things. With that kind of mixture of what political scientists call ‘secondary associations,’ you have the basis for some degree of democratic functioning, and it’s possible for people to elect someone from their own ranks. Compare it with here. In 2004 you had two men, both coming from backgrounds of extreme privilege and political power; both went to the same elite university; both joined the same secret society, which is one of the Ivy League secret societies for training people to be members of the ruling elite. Both of them were able to run because they were supported by pretty much the same corporate interests. They had an election in which issues were almost totally suppressed. The elections were run by the public relations industry. They were more or less on the level of toothpaste ads. You don’t look at an advertisement expecting to learn anything. The idea is to delude you by imagery” (Chomsky, Noam, and Gilbert Achcar, “Perilous Power: The Middle East and U.S. Foreign Policy.” Boulder: Paradigm, 2007.).

And the same holds true down to the state and municipal levels, for instance, here in Spokane, the law-makers are almost wholly comprised of UW and Gonzaga graduates, and the City Council members are comprised of the urban landed elite, and all of them have money, big money. In fact, the topics of concern are routinely on making Spokane a hot spot for tourists and attracting conventions, and hiring more cops to combat the ‘meth craze.’ They attack the symptoms yet all the causes continue unaddressed. Causes such as waiting for the kids in the poor areas of town to first get into trouble and then to overwhelm them with incarceration, probation, and the promise of sending them back to the same impoverished areas—or better yet they say if you can manage to stay out of trouble long enough you too can join the military and become a man by killing for ‘the man.’ Instead of providing each and every kid born into an impoverished family the guaranteed opportunity of being able to let their children go live at places such as the Gonzaga University campus from the very start of their lives, we put them on anti-depressants and say ‘back to the ghetto boys’ . . .

Expensive you say? For three days of what our wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, & the ‘global war on terror’ costs, I could provide a 1000 area impoverished youths with such an excellent education that by the time they reached the age of eighteen, they would veritably be gods . . .

Same holds true even for the older dudes amongst us who have as of yet been unable to ‘change our evil ways.’ Why? Well since I can remember, every time I got into trouble the only thing provided for me were courts costs and a bag of tricks that would virtually guarantee that I would once again be put back in jail for violations and/or non-payment of restitution and court costs. So, the poor person who gets their license suspended, cannot afford car insurance, and yet continues to drive is assured of copping more beefs. The public transportation system has steadily over the years become less and less efficient, working less hours of the day and running less routes, when instead they should aggressively work more and more hours and provide more services to not only benefit the poorer citizenry, but also mayhap to court the urban every-day inflow and outflow of countless single occupant SUVs who drive to the downtown area for work everyday. Ahh, but they sure can afford those nice expensive public work projects in Riverfront park and out in the suburbs . . .

Ahh, but that is what separates the chafe from the wheat eh? The people walking on the street looking for that dishwashing job, and the person driving in their cars, cell-phone in hand, GPS dash-mounted gadgetry switched to Jon Stewarts ‘Daily Show,’ while their ‘briefcase’ is plugged in downloading videos from youtube.

Empowering one’s fellow man is the farthest thing from peoples’ minds, sadfully it is actually the farthest thing from even our Christian brothers down at the mission, the only ones I would have imagined would really care; they just want you to accept Christ and then go get that dishwashing job. Like anything really changes . . .

It is your lack of moral edification, not economic deprivation, that keeps thee hopelessly bogged down in life they say . . .

Yeah . . .

Some Gonzaga educated millionaire lawyer, who is the son of a lawyer, says he speaks for me and my people . . .

Give us a voice, allow us to debate you on the TV, give us a couple seats on the City Council—like a true democracy would—forgive us our monetary debt—JUBILEE—allow our children to get a fine education; quit feeding us your gospel of consumption . . .

Ok, ok . . .

Peace all

empyrius—अग्नि—Craig

Voters in Chile went a step further; they were so fed up with the past they elected an agnostic single mother and a socialist as president. This in a male-dominated, overwhelmingly Catholic society where divorce was legalized less than a year ago!

It appears now a certainty Bush will send more troops to Iraq. This man must really believe that God told him to straighten out the Middle East.

Nabil Shaath says: "President Bush said to all of us: 'I'm driven with a mission from God. God would tell me, "George, go and fight those terrorists in Afghanistan." And I did, and then God would tell me, "George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq …" And I did. And now, again, I feel God's words coming to me, "Go get the Palestinians their state and get the Israelis their security, and get peace in the Middle East." And by God I'm gonna do it.'"

Does anyone have any thoughts on that?

Could it be a few of the posters here believe the same thing?

Yeah, I commented on that, some, more than a year ago, and Cc-ed it to a Dutch law faculty.. they were not 'amused'.. nor the..

But, reading Simon, he could care less..

Love, Passion,

From the looks of the way the execution was administered, it looks like Donald Rumsfelt might already be doing some private consulting in Iraq!

Skep,

One must wonder if his god hasn't yet told him to send Jenna and Barbara Bush to fight in Iraq. His god obviously has no qualms about sacrificing the children of America's poor and underprivileged in that hellish sandpit.

Regards...

Marek,

Well yes I do have a list, much of it came out of during the Nuremburg trials.

There were also many US companies, not to mention UK companies.

During WWII business was getting along just fine everyone was friendly and stuck to agreements. You should see what went on with the synthetic rubber patent.

Oh and the Swiss, they were a neutral country because both sides needed a safe place to store the loot. The Swiss obliged.

The pharmaceutical companies were doing experiments to learn to create new drugs on the people in the concentration camps all in the name of improving the world (yea right)

The Jews (and others including the Polish) were being killed off and their assets simply seized.

Germany and the UK were trying to use their political ties in US congress. The Germans tried to keep up out of the war, the British tried to get us into the war.

Fords plants were never bombed by the US for example, they kept building vehicles for the Germans.

Finally the British tricked the Japanese into thinking the US was going to bomb their shipping lanes cutting off oil to Japan. Japan launched a strike against Pearl Harbor. We knew about it but needed an excuse to get into the War, and of course all the ships would need to be rebuilt creating a lot of business.

This information didn't come from books, it came from people I have met that were involved or privy to what really happened.

But like I said it was all in divine order setting the stage for what is going to soon happen.

Something that many of you will play a role in.

It is not so wise to spend much energy on the past, we need to focus energy on the present.

Now this Kennedy thing (the secret compound that was built) could grab the worlds attention. This attention spot is worth billions. But since I am not in it for the money. We can use it to bring awareness. By the way this is the first place on the Internet this has been published.

What I will say is that if you are reading Intent Blog and some other places you will sort of be an "Insider". One of the "new" insiders that are not in it for the money, one of higher consciousness.

As many will come to realize, it isn't really the very rich, with perhaps a few ego maniacal exceptions that cause the worlds problems.

It is the people (just underneath the top) that WANT TO GET RICH, that mess everything up.

This is not to say that some of the Rich were not at one time members of the Get Rich group.

It is to say the Rich already have money so they are unlike those scheming to get rich.

****THE BIG GOAL****

Is to save humanity from it's self, we all know how easy it is to get caught up in Illusion and be weak as individuals.

So the goal is to transfer power to the collective and engineer Ego and Ignorance out of the system creating a fair playing field for all.

It's is all about the playing field.

Infinite Play the Movie.....

If you want heaven then you must have a playful nature like children, and the world needs the mothers nurturing compassion and love to work out the differences and conflict.

Yes there are obscure paths found in Infinite Play’s web site that lead to the aforementioned documents and disclosures for those that are looking for foreknowledge.

Infinite Play leads to the foreknowledge that is to be made available to those of higher consciousness so that energy (money) is transferred into their hands, as well as getting placed in positions of power where it is trusted ego will have a diminished effect.

There is a gauntlet that the Ego cannot endure to get to the riches.

Finite minds are filtered out..

Craig,

You have some insightful perspective. But remember the people do have the power to change everything, and the “people” allow things to be as they are. There are no victims. The people are born into illusion and ignorance and they must break free through using wisdom intelligence and creating awareness amongst themselves.

"They were more or less on the level of toothpaste ads."

Fairly good assessment, the elections are a major production just like any good movie. Look at the production budget, huge!

I would mention though that Noam Chomsky may really be an energy diversion mechanism. Look at all what he does not talk about.

There are organizations and people on the planet that appear to be your friends but they are really designed to DISSIPATE ACTIVIST ENERGY so it cannot effectively bring change. They may represent themselves as liberal humanitarian organizations.

There are sheep herders and then there are wolves in sheep herders clothing.

So let the sheep become Eagles and soar above the illusions of the world. (R)evolution

How to yield the greatest power of all .

One must see all others as their own self including the “bad” guys, trapped in Illusion. This is no easy task because it applies to all your daily affairs and relationships and the ego will supply resistance everywhere it can. One would love everyone… especially the ones you despised the most. They are really you. You will seek to wake your self up.

Once you achieve self realization, and have overcome your own illusions you have the power to destroy illusion in the minds of others and create reality.

Your power to destroy illusion and dissolve ignorance can be used in business meetings, town meetings, social meetings, and on the floors of congress. You will be endowed with uncanny insight and intelligence that comes from some all pervading source.

Just don’t let it go to your head and get caught in the web again, a fall from this height can really leave some bruises. Those that can destroy illusion can also be tempted by Ego to create it.

Not that ego is a bad thing, it just needs to be managed with wisdom and immersed in awareness.

"destroy illusion in the minds of others and create reality."

That should really read

and create experience based on reality and not Illusion.

Marek my friend

Found this link on the Vietnam war.

http://www.vietvet.org/jeffviet.htm

It's a long read written by a veteran of that war that was compelled to make sense of the senseless bloody carnage he was a party to.

He did in depth research including dissecting the Pentagon Papers and I believe he starts with the history of the Vietnam Peninsula a few years before Christ.

Indeed Richard! I do remember reading something about what you say, about how the left-wing college professor lunatics rather fill a role in the machine instead of actually being a force for change; again, as I have stated before, what are truly the differences between a 'liberal' and a 'conservative'; some silly 'social issues' such as anti-choice, same-sex marriage, keeping marijuana illegal, & the death penalty.

Please . . .

We instead should be talking about, nay not talking about, but implementing, universal health care (including dental), cutting 'defense' spending by 75% (and even more), guaranteeing FREE post high-school education to all Americans, doing something about the immense gap between rich and poor (and yes I am talking about TAKING government and private lands), abolishing the income tax for anybody that makes less than 50 thousand a year completely, abolishing the IMF and World Bank . . .

You know by far the most prevalent theme in the Torah, OT, NT, and Qur'an, is helping, empowering, the poor strangers, widows, and orphaned; and this in fact is the least practiced part of Scripture--strange no?

As violent crime surges in America: huh, imagine that . . .
http://[DELINKER]www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16409852/site/newsweek/

But they sure want to keep on passing more laws and building more prisons . . .

What happens when you are in power?
....you hold an upperhand. Whether it is the PM of Iraq, the President of USA or anyone for that matter.
How you use that power needs to be ascertained.
Why on that fatal morning the Hangmen were in power who were abusive to a man who was facing death.

When will people ever stop mis-using power?

Only then will this world be a better place to live.

R.T #13 and Craig #20

Right on.

Craig,

Perhaps better than universal health care which can be a boon for pharmaceutical companies we should use the available intelligence to eliminate disease.

We see that people promoting universal health care could be acting as agents of the pharmaceutical companies.

It depends how we define universal health care, of course no one should be left to suffer in a world of abundance.

HERE IS A NEW WEAPON

It would be nice if journalists would pick up on this.

TRUTH in contrast to HONESTY.

Ask this power question.

That may be the truth, but are you being honest?

How did we justify sending troops into Iraq?

Truth: We have some evidence of weapons of mass destruction, these WMD are a threat.

Honesty: We have some of evidence of WMD, pretty good evidence; we sold it to them in the past and trained them. However we did not really know how much is actually there if any. For all we know it could have been destroyed as they said they did or perhaps they are buried in Syria by now. (Hmm wonder if we could use that possibility..)

The only way to known for sure is to go in Iraq and look, and do a regime change while we are there that way they won't start selling oil in Euro's. Plus we can create some work by when we have to destroy some infrastructure.

But anyway... that's the past

We need to switch from oil and this ends the world conflict resulting from dependency on oil.

A barrel of oil is worth about $1,000 after being processed. What used to be waste by products now produces fertilizer, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and PLASTIC.

If we switch to corn based plastic, stop using pharmaceuticals, and use rock dust and organic waste for fertilizer then oil can no longer compete with green energy (renewable clean sources) as an energy source.

Dependency on oil is a threat to National Security. So we should take extreme measures to eliminate it.

The other thing we would do is create incentives to switch to LED lighting which uses 90% less energy to produce light and install solar cells on every rooftop, hook every building to the grid and equip every house with batteries. This will make our infrastructure much less vulnerable, which will also make it that much more valuable.

Where it makes sense we use wind, hydro, and geothermal energy in conjunction with solar.

At the same time we create a wireless mesh network to keep communications running. If one part goes down all the rest of it is still up, no weak links. The other thing is some foreign invader could not take over our communications.

So that in the even some disruption or disaster we can still function as a nation without chaos ensuing. Every one will have some light, refrigeration, and communication even if the power grid is shut down. We can still function.

People could even use their batteries to buy or generate and store electricity selling, or providing it back to the grid when demand peaks at a good price. Maybe make some money.

We could probably eliminate brown outs and black outs from demand surges, if houses also acted as energy storage units. So all those costs and stress associated with these problems would go away.

Plus this whole infrastructure change creates lots of jobs and new money.

Thanks hgquinn

---------Yes. Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian leader was present at the meeting and denied Bush said that. The Whitehouse also denied it.

So there are conflicting stories if you look for them.

Gotham, why is all the media reporting on the so called investigation about who leaked that video message? What about what was captured in the video? Isn't that what should be the focus here? So unbelievable. So, they are going to hang a security guard now? Fucking unbelievable.

I heard Friedman say something like the following on a TV program a couple of months ago: "Is Iraq what it is because of Saddam or Saddam who he is because of Iraq? - I used to think the former but lately, the latter". How true!

Yes we need to switch from oil RT, but will they let us . . .

You know, Sweden's goal is to not use oil at all by the year 2020, don't know if they will be successful, but tis still and admirable goal.

Spate of Me-too Hangings by Minors after Saddam's Hanging Video

This is very serious.. there have been THREE HANGINGS by kids 9 yr old, 10 yr old, and 14 yr old in India, Pakistan and Texas, US!!

Very interesting!

I did not know about this important detail until reading your post. Thank you for sharing it, Gotham. The pieces are starting to fit and it does appear to have been more a revenge killing than about seeking justice.

Imagine if that uncensored video with audio never emerged. We would have never learned the truth about the execution.

Peace out,
