Odd coincidence Iran caught those British spys, or was it one of the many speaicl ops teams being sent into Iran. Or was it planned? Did they get caught on purpose?
When does the president have to announce to Congress that we are going to war with Iran? Or will the British go in first leaving us no choice but to support them?
Why is less oil making it to the market from Iraq keeping the oil prices propped up? Will the same happen in Iran?
Notice how the rumor of a missle strike moved oil prices up 8%, which means someone made a quarter billion dollars that had the foreknowledge of the rumor release.
What kind of world do we live in now where someone can just create a rumor and make millions from it with absolutely no economic contribution.
Sounds like a big chess game with the common people as the pawns, perhaps we should refuse to play.
Dear DK... I have this one too, for you!
Peace is Every Step : Meditation In Action (Trailer)...
May, blessing pulses, resonate through all your inner bodies.
Actually I don't think the British sailors were spies. It could very well be an act of war.
The Iranian leadership believes that Armageddon must occur for their Messiah to come. Just like some evilgelical people over here.
The Iranian leadership perhaps then wants to go to war. The thinking that their winning is part of the divine plan so they are a bit fearless so maybe they are taunting?
Richard,
I don't see winners in all this. All I see is a bunch of losers.
Hello Everyone! An ancient sage was once asked:
(Feel free to answer one or all and I will give the Master's answers later.)
1. What is the oldest of all things?
2. What is the most beautiful of all things?
3. What is the greatest of all things?
4. What is the most constant of all things?
5. What is the best of all things?
6. What is the quickest of all things?
7. What is the strongest of all things?
8. What is the easiest of all things?
9. What is the most difficult of all things?
Have some fun with these or be serious if you wish.
You are free to ignore me completely
and continue politics as per usual.
ThAnKs a BuNcH!
Well no one knows who are the guys caught by Iran.......But Iran surely does not need to do any provocative acts in the current political scenario. Seems though that the Iranian leadership is getting impatient for war.
Im currently ready the "God Delusion" book by Richard Dawkins. To be honest im quite surprised by all of the negative publicity about this book, including DC having a big whinge (7 posts) about him last novemeber - december.
Dawkins is in my mind a hero. He has the courage to stand up and call a spade a spade. Not many of us have that sort of courage. I think what the man is doing is pretty significant.
Why are 'new agey' types like DC against this guy? Seems like they are natural allies really - they both pro science and anti superstition. Dawkins IS NOT anti-spirtualism, infact early on in the book hes has good things to say about it in regards to Einstien having a similar godless-spritual worldview. Dawkins readily admits that the universe is a weird place and science is fairly ill equipped to deal with the big questions.
You don't believe me?
http://www.scienceforums.net/forum/extras/media/ted_dawkins_2005.mp3
here dawkins gives the same 'the universe is weirder then we can percieve it to be' talk that DC has given before.
Dawkins IS NOT an evolutionary fundamentalism like he's portrayed. True he feel very strongly about it, but it's all based on evidence. He says things along the lines of "Science is happy to do away with evolutionary theory if some solid evidence comes along that contradicts it. It's just there isn't any solid evidence that contradicts it.".
Why would you even wanna argue with that?
Good morning everyone,
The UK has evidence that their patrols were in Iraqi waters when captured. Today, UK has stopped some financial dealings with Iran until the problem is solved.
Iran, is pushing it's borders but I think Iran knows, deep down, if it continues, it is not just the US and Israel that are concerned about their intentions, but other Nations as well.
The World has awakened to the threat of Islamic Extremism and while it does not know how to deal with it, as yet, it is dealing with it as best it can and will continue to deal with it, but it is going to let Iran know, for sure, it has concerns and will do everything it needs to, to protect those concerns..Iran will get the message.
have a great day everyone, ruth
Kieth...
The Answer to your questions is God...or Love.

The Iranians should know better than to mess with the British...
Remember the Falklands?
If they wake the Lion they had better be prepared.

Yes Ruth, that's right. Do you remember all the evidence they produced about WMD's in Iraq to placate the doubters in the USA. And the evidence comes from where? The Ministry of Defence! I think they found it was drawn on a sheet of toilet paper in the latrines.
Richard Thomas posted a link to a remarkable documentary on google. Every single citizen of planet earth should watch it.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6708190071483512003&q=911&hl=en
Thanks Richard.
So Richard how do we stop palying thier game?
I agree all we have to do is stop playing. But that's pretty abstract.
I think that one way is to stop obssesing over politics. I have finally broken free of this addiction. I felt such an obligation to be informed and aware of what was happening in politics.
It was here at IB that I finally let go of it.
It's much like a balloon, when you let it go the air rushes out and it deflates while it flies away.
I once heard the son of a wealthy couple say, Oh it doesen't matter to my parents who is in office.
This spoke volumes to me. It ended my debate on politics.
There must be more ways to stop playing.
I think Kieth may be on to one.
peace comes from peace
the change is already here
derek
And what of Israel and the US's intentions? I guess it is obvious they have none.
There's nothing quite like a polarised view of the world.
Kieth
There are so many good answers to your questions?
one answaer is me.
another is you.
and another might be nothing
I like that one...........nothing..............
everything is everything.......and nothing
derek
Derek,
To stop playing, we stop responding to and supporting the illusions in the minds of others. Rather we speak truth and demonstrate wisdom and perhaps ask questions that destroy the illusions.
In other words don't participate in the Illusion of separation. We may be different but we all have a conjoined symbiotic relationship with all.
Illusions depend on ignorance, intelligence is the antithesis of ignorance.
See them as your self under the spell, help to wake your self up.
yogi-one,
I agree I think if we can illustrate the idea that both sides lose in a war then perhaps both sides will see the wisdom we will not have one. If we can demonstrate that the greatest benefits are in not having war then perhaps we will not.
Perhaps we need to show Iran some respect and the US needs to be a bit more humble on the planet. Strong and fearless but very humble. We should always stand up for ourself yet we should not create conflict or take offensive actions. We should also stand up for those that are weaker.
Remember that people never attack what is really there, they attack an illusion in their minds.
I wrote this in another place here at IB but it kinda got lost in a skirmish.
It's where I get, peace comes from peace.
One day I was watching a documentary on John and Yoko's bed-in peace thing they did. There were peace signs and slogans and reporters and a media frenzy. It was circus like.
What I noticed though was how angry John Lennon was. He was trying to force peace down peoples throat. This anger coming from the guy who wrote "Imagine". Yo
It was then that I realized that peace must come from peace.
People have often gotten the words right, but if they are spoken without an open heart then they fall as unfertile seeds.
derek
stevesnz,
In the image of the bottom egg above (click my name) it can appear be both concave and convex.
Which one is true? In reality this image is is 2D. We have two appearances and a reality.
I agree most that are lucid, shun superstition for they are fictions of the mind. Both science and it's antithesis have their own fictions that they must both give up yet they share the same truth.
Richard
I have this idea of a movable man made island. Really just the daydreams of and artist, but if people can build bigger and bigger cruise ships, why not an island.
Think of an iceberg.
I'm sure there must be people thinking of this.
It's a perfect way to incorporate a lot of the new green technology.
Seems simple to me, but I'm not a civil engineer.
Desalination
solar power
wind power
hydrogen engines to move it
viewing windows for ocean reserch
it could develope it's own ecosystem
create new spieces
Yo I've though about this a lot and i know there is technology out there to make it work.
Or just a really good daydream
derek
Good morning everyone,
Really, Iran has placed itself exactly where it wants to be, politically, in the World Community. It has proven to be a Nation that is growing in everyway and wants to "play or war" with the big guns, they say, they can take care of themselves, and, well, they may just be "dying" to prove it, after all, they(religious leaders) do consider martyrdom to be the "divine perfection." What we, in the West, do not know is if that is belief is taken literally or not. One has to wonder?

Taomaster,
Your welcome, I still do not know what to think. I don't know what the truth is. I do know there are unanswered questions and unsatisfactory explanations of the events and actions taken or not taken.
It could very well be there were Terrorists, and it could very well be they were assisted by something as little as non action.
Here is a new idea!!
Which can make sense.
We knew that it might happen so we figured the best way to deal with it producing the least amount of damage (to surrounding buildings etc.) and casualty would be to prewire the buildings for demolition, just in case.
Of course I don't know how safe that would be having all those explosives in the structure.
Unless of course we knew several months before hand, but no exact date.
This could be most plausible, that we knew the terrorists were going to attempt it. There was not much we could do to stop it? Then there were some that thought to avoid even greater damage or problems later it was a sacrifice we had to make for the good of all.
Perhaps it was just like what that British gentleman told me 20 years ago. The British tricked the Japanese into thinking the US was going to attack their shipping lanes and disrupt their oil supply. So the Japanese attacked us first, which some knew was coming. Yet this was necessary because certain elements in congress were trying to keep us out of the war which benefited Germany.
The British hoped we would join in the war.
Divine will prevailed as always.
So the question is was Peal Harbor worth the price to pay for everyone not having to wear the same uniform clothing with swastikas and speaking German? Probably.
The other side to this is that in spite of the War business was as usual in other words big corporations profited and still worked together.
You should study all the material about the "synthetic rubber" patent and how that game worked out.
Richard
Yo everything is connected. From the smallest partical to the largest star to the grandest galaxy cluster. When I sneeze the stars vibrate with me.
I guess I was looking for new games to play in the void of not playing the illusion game. Something pratical. With rules that people can understand.
Hello Everyone,
Just because one doesn't blame all the discord in the World on the US and Israel does not mean one has a polarized view.
You know there are plenty of aggressors in the World. If your constant cry is to blame it on the US and Israel, I would say it was your view that is polarized.
ruth
Interesting theory Richard. Not it for me though.
Just think, there are several hundred potential terrorists at Guantanamo, being conditioned to hate the west to such an extent that they are primed to undertake another 9/11, believing that they are fighting an Islamic cause. When, in reality, they are puppets in the illusion, simply being used in order to justify much larger crimes in the name of democracy, freedom, self defence.
Our whole current foreign policy is driven by such illusions.
The sooner we transfer power from The Few to the Many, the quicker we will engineer the ego mind and it's fictions out of the system which is the intention i think of the idea of Democracy.
It is harder to lead 1,000 to temptation then it is 10 and it certainly is more expensive to bribe 1,000 then it is 10.
So what we as people can do is support the new systems that need to be put in place to achieve this globally.
When we do so, we should have Peace.
True it is theory and speculation, so we should focus on a solution, dwelling on the past only takes energy from the present. We should take the wisdom gained from the past and forget the rest.
That being said I leave with this..
You can click my name and go to the article with the nice Easter egg graphics on the web as well.
Easter the resurrection of a truth lost.
There is a war between the fiction and the truth in our minds born of desire. There is no battle between good and evil in the universe. There is either being connected or being separate from everything. Each perspective produces a different response to the world and the events we participate in as well as our relationships. Each perspective produces different emotions and thoughts.
We are not separate only different, a different manifestation of the same thing from the same source.
The perspective of being separate is easy at first leading to hardship later; being connected and "ONE" can be difficult for some at first, but leads to joy and Abundance for All.
In order to achieve the very short term benefits of being "separate" we must agree to be(lie)ve a lie. This is the fall from grace which requires even more supporting lies to maintain the first. Leading to an endless cycle of fictions to support the first lie we tell our self or are taught as children. We are born perfect into a world of illusion and are taught the fictions in our youth. Language and labels are the instruments for creating illusions.
Living the truth in a world of fiction is a hard core effort it is not for the cowards and the gutless.
It would be effortless to live the truth if not for the fact so many are operating under fictions it stops the flow and natural order, creating conflict. In order to survive many choose to subscribe to the fictions and play the game. To not do so one would tend to die in poverty. So there are strong incentives to deny our self.
As long as you have a dominant ego, you do not have freedom, you have puppet strings.
For those that subscribe to the fictions of the Ego, free will is an illusion, a puppet yet still an instrument of the divine. : )
I AM coming to destroy the fictions of the world with the truth and that which are products of them will parish with them.
I invite all of you to join in one voice born of spirit, to speak the truth and destroy the illusions that are our prison, for the truth shall set us free.
You, little piece of shit... To be like us, to be a good man, you have to follow to rules.
There are laws for the good of human kind. Don't think and do learn what we are dictating you.
You are lost? No, with us you will join the group. Buy these clothes, listen this music, don't worry, you'll be accepted.
We will all look the same. Somebody is different, make your duty and laugh at him, the jerk will get the lesson, he will be forced to reach back the line.
--------
The laws control and repress people to not be themselves and free. People looses their abilities to dream. The realisations of their deep, real, simple desires become faith. The heart get weaker, a too weak manifestation through constant negative influences.
People has to know; whatever the knowledge you got from Life... A single person can only bring war, not peace. Peace works with the power of union. I am afraid your little steril knowledge will never understand that.
Join the humble Hearts and please accept your foolish life conceptions. Only once together we will know what to do.
Just spotted.
A mysterious, honeycomb-shaped feature is circling Saturn's north pole.A mysterious, honeycomb-shaped feature circling Saturn's north pole has captured the interest of scientists with NASA's Cassini mission." - Discovery News
This nighttime movie of the depths of the north pole of Saturn reveals a dynamic, active planet lurking underneath the ubiquitous cover of upper-level hazes. Image credit: NASA/JPL/University of Arizona
"This is a very strange feature, lying in a precise geometric fashion with six nearly equally straight sides," said Kevin Baines, atmospheric expert and member of Cassini's visual and infrared mapping spectrometer team at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif. "We've never seen anything like this on any other planet. Indeed, Saturn's thick atmosphere where circularly-shaped waves and convective cells dominate is perhaps the last place you'd expect to see such a six-sided geometric figure, yet there it is."
What could form a hexagon out of gas? The natural form in this situation say the earths polar region is a circle.
Obama, competing with "GRIMMS" FAIRYTALES
Gore With Audacity:
Barack Obama has a penchant to stretch the truth, argues The Politico's Mike Allen. He offers some examples that are reminiscent of Al Gore's 2000 exaggerations:
Speaking early this month at a church in Selma, Ala., Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) said: "I'm in Washington. I see what's going on. I see those powers and principalities have snuck back in there, that they're writing the energy bills and the drug laws." . . .
But not only did Obama vote for the Senate's big energy bill in 2005, he also put out a press release bragging about its provisions, and his Senate Web site carries a news article about the vote headlined, "Senate energy bill contains goodies for Illinois." . . .
On Sunday, the Chicago Tribune reported that an extensive search found no basis for an episode Obama recounts [in his 1995 book, "Dreams From My Father"] about a picture he ran across in Life magazine of a "black man who had tried to peel off his skin" in a
failed effort to use chemicals to lighten it. Obama writes that "seeing that article was violent for me, an ambush attack." The Tribune reported: "Yet no such Life issue exists, according to historians at the magazine. No such photos, no such article. When asked about the discrepancy, Obama said in a recent interview, 'It might have been an Ebony or it might have been . . . who knows what it was?' (At the request of the Tribune, archivists at Ebony searched their catalogue of past articles, none of which matched
what Obama recalled.)" . . .
As another example, consider Obama's stirring tale for the Selma audience about how he had been conceived by his parents, Barack Obama Sr. and Ann Dunham, because they had been inspired by the fervor following the "Bloody Sunday" voting rights demonstration that was commemorated March 4. "There was something stirring across
the country because of what happened in Selma, Ala.," he said, "because some folks are willing to march across a bridge. So they got together and Barack Obama Jr. was born. So don't tell me I don't have a claim on Selma, Ala. Don't tell me I'm not coming home
to Selma, Ala."
Obama was born in 1961, and the Selma march occurred four years later, in 1965. The New York Times reported that when the senator was asked about the discrepancy later that day, he clarified: "I meant the whole civil rights movement."
Of course, what sank Al Gore in 2000 wasn't his penchant for taking liberties with the truth. It was cynicism.ENE:
**************
"Barry" Hussein Obama has the classic Librano$ mind set, he acturally "believes" he can get away with DECEIT and DISTORTING THE FACTS, then to add insult to injury he then gets the idea that he can SPIN his "tale" only rubbing his face deeper into the DUNG!
GIGGLE!

WOMAN OVER 30 By Andy Rooney: As I grow in age,...
WOMAN OVER 30
By Andy Rooney:
As I grow in age, I value women who are over 30 most of all.
Here are just a few reasons why:
A woman over 30 will never wake you in the middle of the night to ask, "What are you thinking?"
She doesn't care what you think.
If a woman over 30 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around whining about it.
She does something she wants to do.
And, it's usually something more interesting.
A woman over 30 knows herself well enough to be assured in who she is, what she is, what she wants and from whom.
Few women past the age of 30 give a damn what you might think about her or what she's doing.
Women over 30 are dignified.
They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant.
Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you, if they think they can get away with it.
A woman over 30 has the self-assurance to introduce you to her women friends.
A younger woman with a man will often ignore even her best friend because she doesn't trust the guy with other women.
Women over 30 couldn't care less if you're attracted to her friends because she knows her friends won't betray her.
Women get psychic as they age.
You never have to confess your sins to a woman over 30.
They always know.
A woman over 30 looks good wearing bright red lipstick.
This is not true of younger women or drag queens.
Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 30 is far sexier than her younger counterpart.
Women over thirty are forthright and honest.
They'll tell you right off if you are a jerk if you are acting like one!
You don't ever have to wonder where you stand with her.
Yes, we praise women over 30 for a multitude of reasons.
Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal.
For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed hot woman of 30+, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year-old waitress.
Ladies, I apologize.
For all those men who say, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free".
Here's an update for you.
Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage, why?
Because women realize it's not worth buying an entire Pig, just to get a little sausage...
Hltlery experienced?? (At "hating" the UNIFORM.?..yes!)
WSJ Opinion:
Are You Experienced?
A recent essay in the New York Times Week in Review section underscores a bit of journalistic bias that may prove crucial in the 2008 presidential campaign. The piece, by Ryan Lizza, notes that most of the major candidates lack "the kind of governing experience traditionally seen as a prerequisite for White House service." Rudy
Giuliani was a mayor. Barack Obama has been in the Senate barely two years, and John Edwards quit after a single term. Mitt Romney "can point to a four-year term as governor of Massachusetts as the sum total of his governing experience."
You can contrast this to John McCain, who has been in the Senate more than 20 years and Congress 24 years altogether. And you can also contrast it to the Democratic front-runner . . . but wait a minute.
Although Lizza suggests that Hillary Clinton is more experienced than her Democratic rivals, he never fleshes this out. Why? Well, if you look at Mrs. Clinton strictly from the standpoint of elective office, she is only slightly more experienced than Edwards, having just begun her second Senate term. If experience outside Washington counts, Obama has her beat, having served eight years in the Illinois Legislature.
Ah, you say, but Mrs. Clinton was in the White House for eight years, as first lady. Why didn't Lizza mention this? Probably because to mention it is to raise uncomfortable questions about Mrs.
Clinton's character. After all, Bill Clinton was impeached, and the events that motivated the wrongdoing for which he was impeached call into question the integrity of the Clinton marriage. Mrs. Clinton, in other words, may owe her "experience" to her willingness back then to make a sham of her own personal life.END:
***************************************************************
I see it as Hitlery experienced alright..... on how she can transfer the authority of the United States OVER to the UN!
NOW "THATS" EXPERIENCE!
God bless the troops;
Steve
Hairy Simon Free-Monster & Derek the Doodleman:
Since it is obvious The News is the main game in town,
I'll just go ahead and give you answers to the first five.
Then maybe you'll wish to change your answers for the last four.
Simon, you got the first one right.
A full moon is not due till Monday,
then we can give our backs their yearly shave.
1.The oldest:
God, because He has always existed.
2. Most beautiful:
The Universe, because it is the work of God
3. The greatest:
Space, because it contains all that has been created.
4. Most constant:
Hope, because it still remains with man,
after he has lost everything else.
5. The best:
Virtue, because without it there is nothing good.
That leaves the quickest, the strongest, the easiest and the most difficult.

I just looked at the hexagon on Saturn. Amazing.
I have been following the Cassini project since I first saw a documentary on it years ago. The probe landed on Titan the day before my birthday. I was so excited. I imagined having a live cam in Titan so I could watch Saturn rise over it's horizon on my TV.
Anyway what could be under there making a hexagon.
Maybe Saturn it really a door. Is that a mandalla forming on it's pole?
Just playing.
I'm sure the scientists will figure it out someday.

Nice diversion from the political round about.
I don't define God like you do so my answers are a bit different.
I totally respect your answers they are wonderful.
I would love to hear even more variations of answers.
I would love to talk about anything other than politics and usless news.
The Saturn thing just sends chills to my core.
Something is happening
All the energy spent on endless debating will shift.
These voices of conflict are going to fade and become extinct.
We will learn to let go.

DEMS GreenLight Coming Iran Invasion
"Iran will get the message."
"And what of Israel and the US's intentions? I guess it is obvious they have none."
"Just because one doesn't blame all the discord in the World on the US and Israel does not mean one has a polarized view."
Notice the total SILENCE by our Jewish "conservatives" here when it is well documented that Jewish Pelosi intentionally REMOVED the "no Iran invasion" from the House Bill.
Hello...Ruth, Ambasteve and other queer jews...how come you ain't complaining NOW before Bush goes to war AGAIN for your terror state "Israel"?
Why I Hate Blacks' Article
February 28, 2007
SAN FRANCISCO -- This is a copy of the controversial opinion piece by Kenneth Eng in Asian Week magazine:
Here is a list of reasons why we should discriminate against blacks, starting from the most obvious down to the least obvious:
1) Blacks hate us. Every Asian who has ever come across them knows that they take almost every opportunity to hurl racist remarks at us.
In my experience, I would say about 90 percent of blacks I have met, regardless of age or environment, poke fun at the very sight of an Asian. Furthermore, their activity in the media proves their hatred: Rush Hour, Exit Wounds, Hot 97, etc.
2) Contrary to media depictions, I would argue that blacks are weak-willed. They are the only race that has been enslaved for 300 years. It's unbelievable that it took them that long to fight back.
On the other hand, we slaughtered the Russians in the Japanese-Russo War.
3)Blacks are easy to coerce. This is proven by the fact that so many of them, including Reverend Al Sharpton, tend to be Christians.
Yet, at the same time, they spend much of their time whining about how much they hate "the whites that oppressed them."
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Christianity the religion that the whites forced upon them?
4)Blacks don't get it. I know it's a blunt and crass comment, but it's true. When I was in high school, I recall a class debate in which one half of the class was chosen to defend black slavery and the other half was chosen to defend liberation.
Disturbingly, blacks on the prior side viciously defended slavery as well as Christianity. They say if you don't study history, you're condemned to repeat it.
In high school, I only remember one black student ever attending any of my honors and AP courses. And that student was caught cheating.
It is rather troubling that they are treated as heroes, but then again, whites will do anything to defend them.

Do Jews Have Souls?
A close reading of Scripture shows that the modern day "jew" is descended from Cain and his father (not Adam). It seems clear that they were invested, the Evil Seed, with no soul. Yet, they do not die as beasts but are consigned to Outer Darkness, the Lake of Fire.

Congress hath declared no war

that represented the glory of capitalism,
America responds by attacking innocent Mesopotamians;
Not that hired thugs like Betchel or Halliburton complain

American forces do anything but protect ‘our’ freedom,

Jesus is the Messiah -- which is a true Christian’s belief.
The global war on terror may be a very long war some say,
b/c there are people who just hate freedom and democracy.
Lying about the truth that what those people actually hate
is U.S. installed corporate-friendly puppet governments;
not everybody after all wants to worship Mammon and banks!
Caring for ones’ fellow man means not selling them insurance.
Loving your fellow man does not entail charging them interest;
nor raising our premiums and building a bigger government
while the billionaires sit back laughing and donate to a cause
for a tax write-off, you too can get a library with your name.
The true war on terror is not global at all, it is much closer,
in fact it starts at the local city hall and shopping mall
where the lawyers ply their trade and the kids in fashion parade;
thinking themselves substantial ones, unknowing and or uncaring
they have been conned by the “Illuminati’s” cosmetic TV ad.
An attorney passes another property law for the realtor and bank
thinking theirself smart, the kid buys a hundred dollar pair of jeans
thinking they look strikingly tart, alas they are both marks
for minions of the Dark One who is the smartest and most cunning.
Satan! Humankind’s first lawyer he just had the losing argument!
But he was successful in deceiving man into being banished
from the Garden, then his dark brood of bankers greedily eyed
their targets, loaning for interest to ‘others’ to live, build, and eat;
indeed, the widowed, orphaned, and poor Stranger
when pricked doth bleed.
Jubilee?!? Jubilee?!? Greed and child GWOT hast perished thee!
People are lying, ‘others’ are dying, yet money is changing,
alas, the same song keeps eternally playing,
begging the question of who is materially gaining;
Raytheon, Northrop, Boeing, the Carlyle group, and ever more.
GWOT truly started eons ago, in the hearts of greedy men
who’s coveting of that which is ‘the others,’
is blanketed with verbiage declaring their religion being
better than yours; to the sword are put man, child, & ugly women
Alas, the veil has been destroyed by the liberty of the Holy Ghost!
Old laws, Old Covenants, and the blood of rams, sheep, & man,
have been displaced by the mediating Grace of Christ;
yet greed and pride has ever increased as Gentilian Christians
too, salivate at the promise of earthly profit and riches,
after all, we are doomed they say b/c evil is here to stay.
So Faith is fine for the dying masses, but Mammon rules
and pays the pastors and their attorneys’ fees
who keep infidelity and corruption hush hush;
verily, slush funds in reverse to keep flowing American commerce.
GWOT in the end is strictly business, in private, and for the public!
The war industry is America’s greatest export,
consumption and oil to America is of the highest import,
so while we cower in fear of the next terrorist attack
the government hires more killers to protect itself
and robs us Americans of any Constitutional guarantees.
The unwatched watchers, the American government
and big business elite, has enslaved not only us Americans
but all of humanity, using their indefinable pretext of ‘terror’
to cow us into submission and build their impregnable lair.
The Father, Son, & Holy Ghost v. the lawyer, banker, & CEO.
This tale ends here, but the story continues . . .
Next installment ‘GWOT II: What can we do.’
Damn, little feller....how'd you know? You just need some chicken soup...it'll all be better tomorrow! Or ...if you don't think so...there's probably a bridge nearby you can jump off of! The fall doesn't hurt at all....that sudden stop at the end...well....it just hurts for a second!

I've also been wondering why Israel has been quiet regarding Iran. Is the USA and allies waiting for Israel to bomb Iran's nuclear sites?A friend told me that the reason the USA has left Iran alone is that there are so many Iranian terrorist cells in the USA and they would be activated and take over this country. I sincerely hope Pres. Bush for once would sit this war out.
Hello Everyone,
I just came from CNN.com and saw the picture of the British Woman who is being held by the Iranian Government. The head scraf she is made to wear speak volumes, to me, as a Woman. Truly, when I saw the head scarf, it really pi--ed me off.
The Iranians really need to understand that there are millions of women in the West who really hate being told what to do and really, really, would hate being forced to cover themselves when it is not in their belief to do so. To see this British Woman being made to wear this scarf, well, all I can say to the Iranians is you think the US and the Israeli's are aggressors,,try forcing the Women of the West to cover up!

Norm, Norm, Norm, what are we going to do with you . . . ;) Sinner! Sinner!
Well Ruth, so they make a women wear a head scarf, how is this different than American soldiers making Iraqi prisoners wear black hoods . . .
Anyway, have you went to a local mall lately, well I haven't b/c the police shoo away, or arrest, us poor people, but I do remember that the clothes American women/girls wear, can be literally quite, ummm, well, they often leave very little to the imagination;
which is fine I guess, but if American women can dress like sluts, why cannot Arab women dress modestly . . .
Well Muslim men force 'their' religion upon the helpless women, much like American Christians foisting their values upon all of us, notably abortion and faggots are evil, and yet they sure do not suggest adulterers being put to death, or drunkards, which as Scripture says they are commanded by G-d to do so; so they just pick and choose what commandments they want to enforce and leave others unattended,
and iffin we did adhere to killing adulterers, not only would almost the entire government not exist, but a large portion of the American population would be stoned to death also . . .
Invoke the old law when it suits some personal prejudice or is economically beneficial, invoke Christ when one wants to be morally condescending; and then the other six days of the week make money!!!!!!
Yeah . . .

Vietnam and the “Whites as Cancer” Myth
By The Realist • 3/27/07
http://inverted-world.com/index.php/column/column/vietnam_and_the_whites_as_cancer_myth/
Our last column, “Utopia and its Scapegoats,” showed how the 1960s New Left portrayed whites as a uniquely power-hungry and greedy race that was to blame for the world’s suffering. While the New Left was a small, radical movement, the “whites as cancer” myth would entrench itself in the American psyche over the next 40 years. One of the primary vehicles by which the New Left’s ideas entered the mainstream was the portrayal of the Vietnam War in the American media.
Two lies about Vietnam that had their origin in the New Left have been repeated to us so often that they have become conventional wisdom: the first is that American soldiers regularly committed war crimes against the Vietnamese that were covered up, and the second is that the burden of fighting the war fell disproportionately on American minorities. In his 1998 book Stolen Valor: How the Vietnam Generation Was Robbed of its Heroes and its History, Vietnam veteran B. G. Burkett has scrupulously researched both of these pieces of conventional wisdom and found them to be entirely unfounded.
American soldiers did commit some genuine war crimes in Vietnam—the My Lai massacre was the worst. However, there is every reason to believe that such events were rare and that the US military tracked down and punished war criminals.
The Left fostered the myth of hidden war crimes as part of its campaign to portray America a racist state. In 1970, the leftist group Vietnam Veterans Against the War sponsored the Winter Soldier Investigation in Detroit to gather testimony from soldiers about war crimes. The opening statement made clear the goals of the group:
We went to preserve the peace and our testimony will show that we have set all of Indochina aflame. We went to defend the Vietnamese people and our testimony will show that we are committing genocide against them. We went to fight for freedom and our testimony will show that we have turned Vietnam into a series of concentration camps.
We went to guarantee the right of self-determination to the people of South Vietnam and our testimony will show that we are forcing a corrupt and dictatorial government upon them. We went to work toward the brotherhood of man and our testimony will show that our strategy and tactics are permeated with racism. We went to protect America and our testimony will show why our country is being torn apart by what we are doing in Vietnam.
Though 109 soldiers testified about crimes they had seen or witnessed, hard evidence of their claims was non-existent. After the hearings were over, the Naval Investigative Service contacted the men in order to determine whether their claims had merit. However, many of the speakers refused to be interviewed. Indeed, one of the men contacted said that the VVAW leadership had instructed them not to cooperate with investigators. The testimony of one black veteran who did tell his story shows the general quality of these men’s testimony. He said Vietnam was “one huge atrocity” and a “racist plot.” However, he had no details about actual crimes committed in Vietnam and admitted his testimony had been assisted by a member of the Nation of Islam.
The most remarkable finding of the NSI investigation, however, was that many of the veterans who supposedly had testified at the Winter Soldier Investigation had never in fact been there. Rather, anti-war activists had assumed the names of real veterans1.
By looking up the military records of veterans who claimed that they had committed or witnessed atrocities, Burkett and others established that most of the stories were hoaxes; indeed, many of the “veterans” themselves were unbalanced people who had never been in Vietnam and were eager to find any audience for their delusions. For example, one “veteran” named Michael Schneider, who was featured in the 1970 anti-war book Conversations with Americans claimed that he had shot three peasants in cold blood in Vietnam, and had been ordered to attach wires to a man’s testicles and to kill prisoners. However, subsequent investigation revealed that the man had never been in Vietnam. He had served in the US army in Europe, deserted, and been arrested in Oklahoma on a murder charge2.
One would think that this record would be enough to consign the myth of unreported atrocities to oblivion. However, that would be to underestimate the power of the “whites as cancer” myth, which never let reality or reason stand in its way. In 1988, CBS News aired a documentary on Vietnam veterans who maintained they had committed terrible war crimes in Vietnam. One, named Steve Southards, said that he had been ordered to by his commanding officers to kill the residents of a Vietnamese village and leave Chinese and North Vietnamese literature among the mutilated corpses so the US could blame the atrocity on the enemy. Another, Terry L. Bradley, claimed to have skinned alive up to fifty Vietnamese, including women and babies, and stacked their mangled bodies in heaps3.
Burkett obtained the military records of the six men interviewed in the documentary and found that the stories of at least five of them were bogus. Southards’ story was implausible on its very face: he had claimed to be a 16-year-old Navy SEAL at the time when he had committed his atrocity. The minimum enlistment age for the armed forces is 17, and it takes two years of training to become a SEAL. When Burkett managed to track down Southards’ military record, it turned out that he had not been a SEAL at all, nor had he seen combat. Rather, he had been an “internal communications repairman” who had been assigned to rear area bases4.
Bradley’s story also did not check out: he had not been a sergeant, as he had claimed to be in the documentary. Rather, he was an ammunition handler—someone who is responsible for assuring the proper storage and disposal of ammunition—and was thus unlikely to have seen much, if any, combat. There was no record of any killings such as he had described in the area of operations of the division to which he belonged. Finally, it turned out that Bradley had been diagnosed a paranoid schizophrenic, an illness which had begun before he was sent to Vietnam5.
Another myth of the Vietnam War is that blacks suffered a disproportionate share of fatalities because the government drafted them in large numbers. This claim was popularized by black author Wallace Terry in the 1984 book Bloods: An Oral History of the Vietnam War by Black Veterans. Terry asserts that a full 23 percent of fatalities in Vietnam were blacks. Again, the news media have shown themselves credulous: in 1986, the public television show Frontline did a segment on Terry’s book. The myth that America used blacks as cannon fodder has been so often repeated that people take it for granted. During his effort to erect a memorial for the Vietnam dead, Burkett came across a black bureaucrat who said, “This is a worthy project. Everybody knows that the majority of those killed were poor black kids.”6
In fact, blacks were underrepresented in the war’s casualties: 13.5 percent of draft-aged males were black during the period of the war, but blacks made up only 12.5 percent of those killed in action. Furthermore, 75 percent of black soldiers in Vietnam were volunteers7.
If Terry’s statistics are bad, the stories of black Vietnam vets recorded in his “oral history” are even worse. The war provided fertile ground for the black imagination, which, as we know from the examples of Tawana Brawley and Crystal Mangum, abounds in fantasies of mistreatment at the hands of whites. One example is Lawrence Kirkland, on whose story the film Dead Presidents was based. Kirkland recites the usual litany of horrors: he had witnessed fellow soldiers push Vietnamese prisoners out of helicopters and mutilate corpses. All this he blamed on the racism inculcated by the military. In boot camp, he says:
Right away they told us not to call them Vietnamese. Call everybody gooks, dinks.
Then they told us when you go over in Vietnam, you gonna be face to face with Charlie, the Viet Cong. They were like animals, or something other than human. They ain’t have no regard for life. They’d blow up little babies just to kill one GI. They wouldn’t allow you to talk about them as if they were people. They told us they’re not to be treated with any type of mercy or apprehension. That’s what they engraved into you. That killer instinct. Just go away and do destruction.
Kirkland turned to a life of crime after he returned to the US, a fact that he blamed on the horrors of war. But nothing in Kirkland’s record indicates he ever saw combat; in fact, he had been a truck driver in a headquarters company in Vietnam8.
If scholars like Burkett can look up the military records of the men who told these stories, it would not have been hard for the well-staffed organizations that produce CBS News or Frontline to do so. These distortions of the Vietnam War reveal a deep desire on the part of the media elites to believe that the American government and American culture naturally produce racist psychopaths. And it is not the news media alone that are guilty: a slew of movies on Vietnam, such as Apocalypse Now, Casualties of War, Full Metal Jacket, and Platoon, have reinforced this view of the war. It is due to this desire that the figure of the American “baby-killer” soldier was transformed from the fantasy of a fringe movement into conventional wisdom.

BRITISH SAILORS HELD PRISONER IN IRAN
Powder Keg at Shatt al-Arab
By Bernhard Zand in Dubai
The Shatt al-Arab waterway, where Iranian forces seized 15 British sailors last week, has been contested by regional and world powers for decades. The first shots of the Iran-Iraq war were fired here. Iranian sensitivities and the West's desire to protect Iraqi oil installations make for an explosive mix.

Setting America Up For The Fall
{ By Randy Taylor, Independent Analyst
19 March 2007: }
This is a great article !!! I certainly pray people read it, more importantly, I hope people contemplate it. Europe is being taken over my the Muslims. Thailand is having massive problems with Muslims. There are over 15 millions Muslims in America today. Islam is second only to Catholicism in the world. Today there are over 2 billion Muslims in the world representing near 1/3 of the world's population. In 2000 Christians represented 29.9 % of the world while Islam represented 19.2 %. The projection for 2025 is that Christians will represent 25% while Islam will represent 30% of the world population. Islam is the fastest growing religion in American today.
Islam was founded in bloodshed. Mohammed married a rich widow woman who was older than him. She gave him her daughter at age 7 for a wife so he could have sex with her at age 9. He spent 20 years writing the Qur'an and then took it to Mecca. The people did not accept his position or teachings. He withdrew to Medina and gathered an army. Then he returned to Mecca and FORCED the people to accept Islam. Islam has always been a bloody religion. The Islamic intent is to kill and remove all religions and people until only Islam remains.
From the Qur'an (Koran), Sura 8:37
"Make war on them until idolatry is no more and Allah's religion reigns supreme"
Keeping in mind that in the Muslim concept, America and the Western Culture are the "Great Satan".
Dale
By Randy Taylor, Independent Analyst
19 March 2007:
1990-1998: The population of the United States is largely unaware of Islam, Islamic terrorism or what is being planned against this great nation. We vaguely recall some Islamic persons trying to blow up the World Trade Centers but it is only a distant memory, a fluke, a failed attempt. We aren't even aware of the structure of terrorist masterminds behind the event. There was a bombing in Oklahoma City by some disgruntled ex-soldier but we were told he acted alone, so we accepted it at face value. We didn't look any deeper. We accepted what we were told. Most of us did anyway. We sought to ignore the ones trying to tell us otherwise.
Wise men like Steve Emerson are largely unheard by us, by choice. Steve is the equivalent of a modern day Paul Revere placing himself at great risk to warn us of the enemy coming. We choose not to listen. Ignore it and it will go away. As long as it doesn't affect the stock market, it doesn't count as a threat.
Most of us don't really know the name Osama bin Laden and we may have heard about an Islamic grass roots style group named al Qaeda at one time or another. But that is what the CIA and the FBI are for, to protect us from bad guys. So we don't give it much thought. The ground was set in our minds for underestimating this enemy.
2001-2003: On September 11, 2001 airplanes flown by Islamic terrorists crash into the World Trade Centers and the Pentagon resulting in huge death tolls of our fellow Americans. Another airliner crashes into a field in Pennsylvania killing everyone on board. In the following days our televisions are filled with images of nineteen men, Islamic men who did this terrible deed. We want revenge and we demand it. The focus shifts to the Taliban, the group named al Qaeda that we had ignored for years and the leader Osama bin Laden. Now we want to know about this guy, these animals that follow him. Our President speaks to us and makes it clear that we are going after these people and going after anyone who supports terrorism. He makes it clear that this isn't a quick fix and this could take twenty years or more. We as a national majority, still angry, agree. The War On Terror begins. We start in Afghanistan and later we move into Iraq and remove t! he terrorist dictator, the killer of many people, Saddam Hussein.
Islam starts the counter-campaign within the United States. Islam is determined to force their ways and means upon the American society. Islam starts lobbying the people, the government as a largely "misunderstood" religious minority. The Islamic organizations get to work along with many similar Islamic organizations branching out to spread the poison where ever they can to whoever will listen.
2006-2007: We as a country have forgotten or softened on everything above. We have grown weak in our resolve and prove this by having elected weak people into the government positions within our government. A large cross-section of the American people want us to leave Iraq immediately. Cindy Sheehan is the new Jane Fonda and develops a following of other like-minded weak pacifists. Islam is growing in strength within the government itself. The people in Minnesota actually elected a Muslim into Congress. He has done nothing positive for the United States as a whole and when you look at his hometown, his election seat, there are Muslim related problems across the board. The cabbies at the airport are trying to force their religious issues on the passengers and the flight where the six imams were removed for creating a security threat all originate in his hometown. Coincidence some could claim? I doubt it.
Islamic organizations are carefully orchestrating lawsuits, marches, large propaganda campaigns all across the nation. Islamic schools and mosques are being built in record numbers across the nation with Saudi oil money being funneled into the US legally. Islam is on the march. The submission of the great country of the United States to Islam has begun just as planned. Just as we were warned by Osama bin Laden, Islam is using Americas own laws and freedoms to destroy us.
Islam is working both ends against the middle if you look closely. They are heavily recruiting in the ghettos and the prisons as well as recruiting at the top, the Senators and the Congress. They are working on the middle now. They have infiltrated the military. At every infiltration point there is a common factor. The rules have been changed to accommodate Islam specifically.
We were established as country based around God where a person had a right to worship God, their God as they choose to do so. That line has been crossed however and the Constitution violated in favor of Islam. Anytime one religion takes precedence or is granted privilege specifically as a religion then there has been a discrimination against all other religions. Such is the case here. This is dangerous ground. This in itself is endangering the Constitution and everything the Constitution stands for. This is endangering the rights of all other peoples in this country.
True Islam, in its purest form is a danger, a threat to all other religions, cultures and peoples. It is a threat to civilization itself. Islam is uncivilized in its doctrine. It is uncivilized in its justice system. It affords no rights and freedoms. It condemns all activities outside its teachings. It makes no allowances for other religious beliefs. It calls for the extermination of peoples that worship any other religions. Its brings death to where there is life.
And we are welcoming Islam? Let's look at that closely.
The primary reason that we are making this mistake is because we are uninformed about the true teachings of Islam. There is a fabricated gentle version floating around that is unlike the true teachings of Islam. It is a softened version, the liar's version. We choose it because it is the easy way out. It presents itself as sheep when in fact true Islam is nothing but wolves. It presents itself as a religion of peace, love and tolerance. If you look around the world at every trouble spot there is, where Islam is involved, there is not a trace of peace, not a trace of love of others and there is no tolerance whatsoever. Islam is about submission, nothing else. Submit to Islam or they will kill you. They killed over 3,000 of us on September 11, 2001 and we still don't get it.
There are those that claim that Islam was hijacked by some radicals. Here's a Newsflash to these ignorant people who claim this. It is way past that and since these peaceful people that you weak minded people keep referring to have no control over what is going on in their own religion and since the terrorists are obviously in charge of Islam, then Islam as whole is a danger to the western world and the people in it. Islam isn't being run by pacifists and peaceniks. It really never was and any chance that these "peaceful" Muslims could reel in their religion is long gone. They refuse to do so and this is mostly in part because Islam never was a peaceful religion. Sounded good, seemed like good water cooler talk but it is and always was a line of BS. Another example of "Political Correctness" run amuck.
But we go on with this fraudulent diatribe because we don't want to alienate our so called "allies". You know the ones that are funding the mosques, schools and Islamic organizations inside this great country. The allies that pay families of suicide bombers when family members blow themselves and others up in a suicide attack. These same allies sent money to the 9/11 hijackers to fund the operation against the United States. This is nothing short of these Islamic governments smiling in our faces and stabbing us in our backs.
The primary piece of irony that strikes me as asinine is our push in this country to arrest, prosecute and even forever blacklist pedophiles yet we are welcoming a religion established by a pedophile.
Mohammed, the Islamic prophet took a girl as a bride at age six so he could have sex with her at age nine. That will get you 10 years to life in the United States and we are welcoming a belief system established by this pedophile? We are not only welcoming it, we are making provisions within our society and government to accommodate it. What are we thinking?
Is it going to take another 9/11 attack or bigger to open our eyes? Do we not realize that what is going on is a struggle, a fight to the death between the forces of good and evil? Do we not realize that we, the United States and countries like ours are the only thing that stands between the good people of the world and Islam destroying mankind? Do we not understand that if we pull out of Iraq or Afghanistan that the terrorists will become emboldened and will not hesitate to strike us here in America?
People, shut the door on Islam while there is time. Write letters to your Congress and your Senators. Support the ones that are trying to protect us. Abandon and condemn the ones that are opening us up to the enemy. Get on the blogs and speak your mind. Email anyone that will listen. Speak out against this evil called Islam. Don't let the few of us that do be the lone voices in the wilderness. We are speaking for you. Help us be heard.
Thank you.
Stay safe. Be vigilant.

Goodbye Brazil, Goodbye
Goodbye Brazil, goodbye
Goodbye Brazileiros, Brazileiras
Beautiful nude women
Nude beaches, sandy beaches
On the clear blue waters
Beaches with beautiful bodies
Basking in the hot sun
Mulatos, Mestiços
Portuguesas, Portugueses
Japoneses, Libaneses
Campos, campinas, montanhas
Rios, arvores, flores
Santos, Salvador, Rio
Recife, Natal, Campina Grande
Frutos do mar, churrascarias
Mangas, mamões, abacaxi
Pinga and cachaca in cans
Hung around necks at carnival
More drunk you get
More beautiful your women get
Beautiful vast country
But is your mind beautiful?
Trigger happy, you shoot
Anyone in sight for even ten reis
You go scott free for murder
When you've muito money
You rent children for begging
Poverty is on the rise
Millions starve in favelas
They use guns to survive
While the top elite
Plunder the poor daily
Jobs for everyone, says Lula
While everyone looks at everyone else
Wondering if the jobs will fall from heaven
If he says he knows not what's going on
When the rich are getting richer,
The poor, poorer with vast natural
Resources and the lowest GDP.
Goodbye Brazil, goodbye.

Love and Peace
Ask lovers what is love.
Ask people at war what is peace.
Those living boring lives
Who have never loved
Who have never seen wars
Don't know what love is,
Don't know what peace is.
They philosophize everything -
To them peace and love are nothing.
We have had philosophers too many.
(And perhaps cowboy-ranchers too.
Chasing cows or countries to them
Is one and the same thing)
Ummm...nice poems for a change!
Hey! just read something in Gotham's blog. There's a baby ego Diablo on its way to Brazil. Before you say Good Bye to Brazil give a nice futbol-kick in the ass of this small-low-life-ego for good measure.
Ruth baby, common now! We had seen this before. Stop acting up and being all defensive about your America-Israel-Islam-Iran political views and statements, OK?
Jean-Francois Post 1, It is getting too much for the rest of us to cope with your boot-licking convoluted thoughtless ego. Stop sucking up in rather gay way unless you are woman acting up like a man.

Malinga taking 4 wickets in 4 balls? That's something! I remember seeing Shaun Pollock perform that feat in English County cricket, many years ago.
It was good for South Africa that they still managed to win by 1 wicket. They have a tendency to choke in big games and in pressure situations.

Hi Gang,
I agree with Richard, These British hostages in Iran, seem a little all too convenient, especially the woman with the small kids at home. This smells like a Bush psy-opps caper to help justify a war.
I also agree with Craig, and Toamaster!
Boo Hoo the poor woman had to wear a scarf on her head how degrading! Well she can thank her lucky stars she wasn't an Iraqi woman, being detained by the Americans in Abu Ghraib, or Gitmo.
Ruth, you are sounding a bit discordant on this thread, have you perhaps been taking long moonlight walks with Norm, or some other equally mind-altering activity?
On another note Hong Kong's "Dr Doom" is recomending that we all hurry up and buy farm land and learn how to drive a tractor, since world economic chaos is just around the corner.
Norm and I can at least relate to this.

American Kangaroo Court Claims Its First Victim
by Amy Goodman
It is appropriate that a person from Australia, home of the kangaroo, should be the first one dragged before the kangaroo court at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay. David Hicks, imprisoned there for more than five years, pleaded guilty Monday to providing material support for terrorism.
The case of Hicks offers us a glimpse into the Kafkaesque netherworld of detentions, kidnappings, torture and show trials that is now, internationally, the shameful signature of the Bush administration. Hicks’ passage through this sham process affords us all an opportunity to demand the closure of Guantanamo and an end to these heinous policies. Conditions may soon exist to shutter the prison, with George Bush’s lame-duck status, the Democratic takeover of Congress, the possible departure of Guantanamo’s arch-defender and architect, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, and, if recent reports are true, a desire to close the prison on the part of Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. These bogus military commission trials amplify global contempt for the Guantanamo prison.
The Pentagon claims that Hicks was in Afghanistan fighting against the United States, then was apprehended by the Northern Alliance in late 2001 while fleeing to Pakistan. After transfer to U.S. military control, he was moved around various detention facilities and, he says, brutally beaten and sodomized. By January 2002 he was in Guantanamo. He was subjected to repeated interrogations. He witnessed other prisoners being beaten and terrorized with dogs. He was at times kept in total darkness, at times in continual bright light (he has grown his hair to chest length so he can cover his eyes to allow him to sleep). He had no access to a lawyer for more than a year or knowledge of the charges against him. Others, those lucky enough to have lawyers or to have actually gotten out, tell similar tales of continual cold, of desecration of the Quran and of sexual humiliation designed specifically to torture Muslim men.
During his five years of detention, people fought for Hicks. His father, Terry Hicks, traveled to the U.S. He donned an orange jumpsuit, like the one his son was forced to wear, and stood in a 6-foot-by-8-foot cage on Broadway in New York while fielding questions from the press.
Even the U.S. Supreme Court, the body that appointed Bush president in 2000, agreed that the prisoners must have some access to habeas corpus, the right to challenge one’s imprisonment. This central tenet of Western law, established in the Magna Carta in 1215, has been thrown out the window, along with the Geneva Conventions, by Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Gonzales and others.
Guantanamo has sparked one of the United States’ major growth industries: protesting against Guantanamo. From campuses to churches, the anger has driven regular citizens to action. Cindy Sheehan and members of the Catholic Worker Movement went to Cuba and marched overland to Guantanamo to challenge the illegitimate prison and its jailers in person.
Even in Hicks’ brief moment in the controversial “trial,” the government did what it could to strip him of the few rights it claims he has. The presiding military judge, Marine Col. Ralph Kohlmann, dismissed his civilian lawyer, Joshua Dratel, and a Navy reservist attorney, Rebecca Snyder, who was assisting Hicks’ government-appointed attorney. Hicks was stunned, and at first refused to plead. Hours later, after the trial was reconvened, he pleaded guilty to his one remaining charge. Having no hope for a fair trial, he reportedly believed that pleading guilty would allow him to serve his sentence in Australia—his only hope of escaping Guantanamo.
There are still more than 380 prisoners at Guantanamo. Almost none have been charged. Those ultimately charged with murder could be sentenced to death by the military commission. The decider of the death penalty after appeals are exhausted is none other than George Bush, who as governor of Texas oversaw the most active death chamber in the United States. Back then his lawyer was Alberto Gonzales.
The U.S. attorney scandal is threatening to take down Gonzales. But it is his condoning of torture from Guantanamo to Abu Ghraib that should seal his fate.
The grim Guantanamo experiment is reaching its climax. The house of cards that has been erected to support this immoral, criminal enterprise is poised to collapse. Call, shout, sit down, march, donate, write, protest … demand that Guantanamo be closed.

One thing to note that no one mentioned...
The poor woman who had to wear a scarf, who's
reputation is now tainted, was doing something
rarely seen on headline news during an interview.
How bad can they be then since they let her have a smoke?
They weren't blowing her a shotgun so I'd say
it was her choice to do so.
Also, she was sitting down comfortably, instead of being scared stiff.
Will they all end up dead stiff? Eventually yes,
but it won't be because of this episode.
Rest assured, they will come home safe and sound,
maybe just a bit out of tune.
Then they'll be heroes and the Brits can celebrate.
The deal to be made is what is in question.

Goodmorning Everyone,
Will be short and sweet, today, I think.
Craig, I know you were not calling me, personally, a slut, but when men call women sluts, it is so ridiculous, absurd. How many times in your life have you used the images of these "so-called" sluts to "pleasure" that little "energizer bunny" you males haul around?
How many times do men, who believe women need to cover themselves, so as not to "tempt" men use the "so-called" sluts of the world to "pleasure" themselves?
And men say, "Oh, so what..she had to cover herself, big deal.. Well, of course it is no big deal for the "testoseroni crowd" they do not have to cover themselves from head to toe, but if they did..well, they would be crying "testoseroni tears" from morning to night and runnin to their mamas to say, "its not fair we have to wear these things, their uncomfortable, hot, they get in the way of my soccer practice, MAMA! I'm not gonna do it, I'm not gonna wear it!
Men, don't you just love them? The big bad babies of the world, have no problem dictating to women, and, then, when they are done, they get to judge us too..She's a nice modest, humble one, she will do as she is told..but that other one..she's just another slut.
have a wonder-full day from a proud American Slut!
Gee, I hate it when this happens
correction.
that is "testosteroni, testosteroni tears" not testoseroni!
a true american slut wishes you a wonder-full and very slutty day! ruth
I'm back..
And, if it were not for the so-called "sluts" of the world and their images portrayed around the globe most men would be left high and dry in the "pleasure department." So, take my advice, all you big strong men of the globe and be GRATEFUL to all you have received from the sluts of the world, respect the gift while you are able to still partake of it.
bye, for real..It is a beautiful sunny day..gotta run..ruth
I wonder if it was that slut Eve who caused Adam to realize s/he was naked or was it Adam's own testosteroni and/or testosteroni tears. Gotta have someone to blame..right?
I also wonder if all women decided to be modest and chaste and virgins (as it appears some men think they should) would the "testosteroni crowd"
be at the next gay pride parade. Choices---Choices!!!
yo.................
With one of the hottest movies out lately "The Secret" it has become heretical to have a negative thought...but sometimes you have to think negative to become positive.
Keith asks if he is in the right place, well I dunno, but we might all be headed here where the worst taunt you can hurl at your enemy is "The flesh of your mother sticks between my teeth"
End of Easter Good read for anyone who wishes to(or not)
www.dieoff.com/page145.htm
On that cheery note I am out of here too.
Ruth asserts: The big bad babies of the world, have no problem dictating to women, and, then, when they are done, they get to judge us too..She's a nice modest, humble one, she will do as she is told..but that other one..she's just another slut.
Given anything, there are atleast two ways at looking at it: one negative, the other positive...
A slut can be a girl who has sex but does not enjoy it, who is used by guys and lets them do it. She does not have the self respect to make them stop.
Or a girl who likes sex, so she does it. She probably is not in a relationship, and she equalizes herself to guys by treating sex the same way they do.
"she's just another slut."
The difference between what society labels as "sluts" is that one has self respect, the other does not. No one should be called a slut anyway, especially when the name "slut" is a purely judgemental and stereotypical one, and no one really knows the real story behind it all, which is pretty much always the case.
"He says after scre-ing her, "she's nothing but a slut!"
"He, says, as she walks by, "look at the -ss and -its on that slut!"
"Slut..yea I'm an red blooded American SLUT.
I completely disagree with that, but thats how society sees it.
Imagine a 40 years old Jewish woman who can't close her legs for more than a second.
I knew she was a pervert.

Images of Ashutosh Rana and his big kohl-lined, glycerine-filled eyes, grimacing and talking to himself in his mirror, keep flashing in my mind. Here is the pack of wolves in sheeps' clothing. On some, the clothing has long been very tattered. On others, the clothing is only now beginning to tear. Patricia, why should women want to own a man as an object? If a women loves a man they would want them to be happy. Same with men, if a women enjoys having sex with a variety of men there is nothing wrong with it. If men truly love her then they would want her to be happy.
I think conflict comes in relationships when one does not subscribe to the fictions in the other's mind. There is a lot of fiction surrounding relationships and marriage.
If a relationship is all about possessing another or using them to gain something like security then it is not going to be a very good one.
Dear Richard
I'd guess that "Patty" is a guy, and one of the wolf pack. That should answer all your questions, unless you'd like him/her to go through the exercise to expand his/her mind and/or heart.
love, Heath
There is the perspective that what we don't like or see in others is a reflection of something we do not like in ourselves.
When fictions we hold dear are threatened by truth how do we react to preserve them? Perhaps the wise then dissolve them.
Interesting Richard about "fictions" in mind.
Can you suggest something to someone here(whose name cannot/shouldn't be taken) who has her Bitch Shield up?
How do you break the primitive psychological protection put up in an attempt to ward of those whom they consider unworthy?
Can it be broken down by refusing to acknowledge the actual relevance of a bitch shield, hence making the "fictional" self-defense device irrelevant?
Jesus, can you help the bitch?
Michael, that's in interesting perspective, given that I've characterized you guys as wolfish. My deepest - i.e. -- most primitive -- intuitions had to be activated for me to use such a metaphor. My sense that there is a murderous rage in y'all (did you get that ref to Ashutosh?? -- he played the narcissistic murderous villain "Gokul Pandit" in the 1998 film "Dushman") is an accurate one, I think. My sense that it's due to innate cowardice is also an accurate one, I think. Otherwise, why do y'all hide behind aliases? If I'm wrong, prove me so by revealing your real name and location in a verifiable way.

"Rajesh Sharma,
you may be better off with whores. Spend some bucks."
whoahahahahahahahaha...too funny!
Hollywood references might have helped me better understand what might be eating Heather's brain.
"prove me so by revealing your real name and location in a verifiable way."
What exactly is the suggestion to everyone else who don't have a personal website, must do?
Should I give my social or what?
Forget it.
Michael, if you're asking seriously, it's easy and free to set up a personal blog on Blogger.com.
Here is a brilliant idea:
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/29/nyregion/29cnd-poverty.html
(or click my name)
What do you mean by "seriously" b1ch? You are the one who suggested that everyone whom you suspect reveal their "name" and "location" in a "verifyable" way.
I see you have a website where you gave your name and location.
Should I give my "name" and "location" at blogger.com account. will that suffice?
Or will my typekey profile page which has my details, suffice?
I find Rajesh Sharma, Jean Francois have a website . I see Bonnie, Ruth, Keith, Taomaster, to name a few, don't have a website or typekey profile.
What exactly is your brilliant idea about verifying Identities?
And please name your wolfs in your fictitious pack. Others can understand you better and suggest a solution to your sickness.
PS: Anyone can clarify my location(In typekey profile) with Intentblog administrator.
Anyone can write any name and location on the web and represent themselves as being something other than what they really are.
I could call myself Jenny Liadan, and say I reside in Dublin, Ireland. How would you know if I were telling the truth or not? How do you know if my website info is real or not? How do you know my name is Heather, as I seem to say it is? Answer those questions for yourself, and you can work the rest out, if you want to -- that's what I meant by "seriously" -- the "if you want to" part.
If you and I met at a mutual friend's house, would you, in front of your friends and to my face, say any of the things you've written at IB?
The web-wolves are the only ones who need to know who they are, and they already do.
Don't side step the point on your bitching about identities.

The most absurd part is that the b thinks that your real name and location cannot be "verified", if you supply them.(neither can the administrators verify your location)
Then why challenge others to verify their real name and location? Because the b knows that it cannot be done. The b thought she can get away with it, didn't she? It is my perseverance that exposed the b for what she is.
Michael, it was only you I challenged. If you're real, you should be able to do it. Not through technical means, which can be spoofed. If it's something you really really want to do, you can figure out a means of doing it. Why does this upset you so much, btw? Hmmmm?? And if you met me face to face, would you be calling me names, etc.? Hmmmmm?? These are my questions for you, that you have still not answered.

"My sense that there is a murderous rage in Y'ALL"
"Otherwise, why do Y'ALL hide behind aliases? If I'm wrong, prove me so by revealing your real name and location in a verifiable way."
Comment 145
"Michael, it was ONLY YOU I challenged. "
Granted, let's say, I was the only one whom she challenged. Does that make any difference to the answer of the question "How to do verify real name and location?" HELL NO!
She is sounding more and more pathetic with each time she is trying to defend herself.
I asked a simple questions: !) HOW? 2)Who are the pack of wolves according to you. Names please!
About her questions
"Why does this upset you so much, btw? Hmmmm??"
It is a subjective question and my answer is that, it doesn't "upset" me. I do want to clarify inconsistencies in the arguments.
"And if you met me face to face, would you be calling me names, etc.? "
You will know it when it happens.
Now answer my not so speculative or subjective questions!
PS: Jean-Francois I shall get back to you later.

Dear J-F
Thank you for being so kind and gallant.
Dear Michael
What about AP or Thrace (!) ? I like the idea of Thrace. Whaddabout a retsina, on a stone patio surrounded on three sides by low white walls, overlooking the sea?
love, Heath
Michael,
You need to learn a few manners son!
Perhaps you are campaigning for the title of "Chicken Shit Coward" of the Blog since you seem so adept at spouting off ad hominines especially to women !
Heather is correct when she says you would never say in person to her or Ruth or any other real woman, things like constantly calling her a B, or suggesting the age and sexual habits of Ruth.
You obviously have some real anger management issues, you might try one of the psychology blogs for some help.
Stan
Dear Stan
Once again, you are a major mensch. (My sis-in-law, and my being a New Yorker, account for my knowing a few words of Yiddish.)
A fantasy that would heal some of the communications here, if it could ever happen: An IB party. And J-F and Marek would need to be dragooned to arrange for the music. It would be one hell of a party. It would be seriously nice to have it in Thrace, too, if we couldn't all travel as far as AP.
love, Heath
Hey Stan....
I'm thinkin' michael is actually baby d in drag! He's frustrated....anguished....somewhat driven.. by who knows what. Yesterday, I just thought maybe he'd been bullied, or maybe his underwear was just bunched up....but I think you're onto something....the pore lil thang needs help!
or....if he truly is in Washington....maybe he's spent so much time under Bawney Fwank's desk... he has no oxygen flowing....hmmmm....i feel only pity..... :)
norm
Dear Heather,
Right on Sister, an IB blowout party is just what the doctor ordered.
Thrace would be an unusual venue to say the least, but I wouldn't know whether to wear a toga or a towel. How about Norm's farm, and shades of Woodstock?
Kind Regards
Stan
Dear everyone
Serious business in the USA: US personal income changes since 2000: "...the top 300,000 Americans collectively enjoyed almost as much income as the bottom 150 million Americans. Per person, the top group received 440 times as much as the average person in the bottom half earned, nearly doubling the gap from 1980..."
Yikes!! Craig, this one is right up your alley.

Muddy Road
We are walking on a muddy road
Ain't no one here beside me
I don't know
We're the links in the chain
Just passing thru again
We are walking on a muddy road
We are walking thru Galilee
We are looking for a light to see
We got blood on our feet
We got some truth to meet
We are walking thru Galilee
We got one more river to cross
We're gonna walk on the water and sing
When we get to the other side
We're gonna put on our wings and fly
We got one more river to cross
We are walking in the hands of God
We're the clay, the dust, the sod
We're the slaves of today
We are the ones who know "The Way"

sorry that's BYOCR
O yeah Heather, I am all over this ever growing and vast economic difference between the rich and the middle, working, & poor classes, who are growing collectively poorer, while the tope 10% leave us all behind; if only we could get the debt-riddled person making 30-40 thousand a year to understand, then the Revolution would go down!
O yeah!
Peace
So is it BYOCR or BYOB or BYOS or BYOF or BYO-degradable?
Can't judge a party at Norm's from the looks of it.
Wasn't Woodstock Snoopy's little bird friend?
Bitches and gentlemen, It's showtime!
I asked: 1) HOW? 2) WHO?
What about AP or Thrace (!) ?
What the fuk does that mean, bish?
I have no fuking clue!

Michael,
Congratulations, you now hold the IB distinction of "Chief Chicken shit Coward" I can smell you from here. BTW You won easily over Steve, Jeff and Shakra.
time for a wild card, perhaps...
By the time I was 30 yrs of age, I had already attended the funerary services of thousands of people I had known - most of them friends or mere acquintances, but including also almost everyone who were among those most important to me as an individual in this life. It has been an on-going experience that has profoundly affected my viewpoint on things.
You see, it seems to me that most of us take life for granted. We just assume we're "supposed" to live a "normal" lifespan, and make our plans accordingly. We discount the value of being alive right here and now and adopt a tendency to live almost exclusively for some future time, when we will do the things then we really want to do.
I don't object if some people want to take life for granted, make plans, or live now exclusively for the future, but I hope that they do this consciously and with some deliberation, because sometimes people just get caught up in social trends and wind up going along with the crowd in this way.
Is it really what you would want? Is today, this moment, really worth nothing except for whatever bearing it may have someday in the future? Surely there is some value in living everyday of one's life - even if part of that experience involves balancing a consideration of the future as well.
If you thought tommorrow might very well be the last day of your life, would you do anything differently?
Are there things you are involved in that suddenly wouldn't be worth your time?
Is there something you are postponing for the future that would become top priority today?
If these were the last minutes you would breathe, what emotions would you choose to experience in them?
Life is a finite and unrecoverable thing - why waste it on stuff you don't really want?
Goodmorning everyone,
I'm sorry. I know it will be hard for you all to accept this apology unless it is properly showcased and broadcast throughout the Nation, so my local news affiliate is on the way to capture it all on tape..(they also want a shot of me stuffing my face with cherios, which I do not know if I will do,, a lady doesn't want to be seen chuggin down her chow when she hasn't even done her make-up!) but I will apologize for all the world to see..so hear goes.
On my way to reach my computer, this early am, I inadvertenly, stumbled across the dividing line on my carpet and ended up in Iranian territory, no really, it was early, I didn't mean to do it, I can't even read Arabic, so really, there secrets were safe with me, no spying, intended on my part. Really. I confess.
so again, I'm Sorry..my doorbell is ringing, got to get ready for my live shot..ruth
Hello Again,
No one is talking about it, here, and the UN well the UN doesn't want to get too tough in it's language, doesn't want to seem harsh. So I will speak for them..
Mr. President of Iran what the buck do you think you are doing making them poor folks stuff their faces full of food while a camera is sitting on their noses. What are you trying to prove to the world? Really, the lady sailor was so convincing when she used the words compassionate in describing her captors while the camera was sitting on her nose. Now, it looks like you will have to go through the whole fifteen of your captives with a camera sitting on their nose, while making the "mighty confession." Gee, it is all so believable, and those captives, well, the shameful humility they are expressing is oh so..straight from the heart. Well, it makes me want to confess too.
If you want to buck with the Government of Great Britian, go ahead, they are big boys, but these sailors, they are just trying to make a dollar and a dime, so why don't you practice the compassion that you preach and take the poddam cameras of their noses, because it says nothing whatsoever about the sailors or the UK, all it says it that the Iranian Government knows how to bully the little man and obviously gets much pleasure in doing it. Bullies.

UK sailor's second Iran 'apology'
Here is the text of his statement:
"We trespassed without permission.
"Since we've been arrested in Iran our treatment has been very friendly.
"We have not been harmed at all. They've looked after us really well.
"The food they've been serving us has been good and I am grateful that no harm has come to us.
"I would like to apologise for entering your waters without any permission.
"I know it happened back in 2004 and our government promised that it wouldn't happen again.
"Again I deeply apologise for entering your waters."
Am I to only one to feel that something strange is happening at IB?

u are right on..bro!

Michael & Heather
I think you need to rent a room!
I enjoyed your dialogue actually. At least it was real. Unlike the unreal cut and pastes that seem to dominate so much of the page.
Heather, I can comfortably say that I would say everything I have said at IB to anyone and everyone's face. No problem.
Originally on this page I asked what was the big deal about this British girl wearing a headscarf. Well look at all the posts that followed with all that defensive, sanctimoneous, anal verbage. It is just a headscarf!
People here revealed so much about themselves and the way they think based on such a trivial thing.
Ruth, I don't know if you are a slut or not. I have never seen you with my own eyes, and I have no knowledge or experience of your sexuality. But I have a very clear idea of your mind and how you think. So, although you may not be a slut, you most definitely are a bigot and a racist. And all bigots and racists are invariably both ignorant and filled with hatred, anger and fear.
If you were only a slut it would be a much more agreeable condition all together.
I guess your soul mate Norm will pipe in now.
I would like to say Namaste', but your divinity abandoned you a long time ago.
Have a great weekend everyone!

thanks again for the lovely words..have a great weekend..ruth

I'm not right
And you're not wrong
I don't know what this love

We are shadows
Tiny sparows
Safe inside
Clear blue sky
Of another storm
Moving in and out of time
In and out of the circle of life
We are children of the angels
Keepers of the fire
We are children of the angels
Reaching for the light
We are not strangers
We are all brothers
I know we came here to love each other
Here, in the circle of life
Each one thinks he
Has the answer
Each believes that he can see
The way, The only way
Truth lies waiting
Was always waiting
Like a love
Peaceful dove
Right there inside your soul
From another place and time
Moving into the circle of life

I say: Thank You Gaylord.
Bonnie,
You gave some very correct and timely thoughts in #182 and #186. Thank You.
Toamaster,
I also only say things here that I would say to someone’s face, and I think your evaluation of Ruth is incorrect.
In my eyes from reading, her many posts (I hope she will forgive me in advance for this personal analysis), I would say she is a very passionate American who usually sees right through the B.S. going on in Washington. Although she can be a little one-sided when it comes to Israel, this is probably born out of Patriotism, not racism or bigotry. She sometime sounds like men may have hurt her, especially that crack about our “energizer bunnies” (which still has me chuckling) but when she claimed to be a slut; she was undoubtedly using a different definition than the loose and rude one we men generally accept.
Ruth,
You are a valued, important, and respected voice on this Blog, and I hope you will long continue to grace the pages here!
Derek,
“Today is a good day to die". Comes not from star trek, but from my ancestors the Native American Indians.

It Is Not Essential (A Hindi Poem of Keyaa1 in Translation)
That each morning be beautiful
Each night, bright
Each day, full of light
Each evening, colorful
It is not essential
That everyone be hopeful
Sorrowful
In smiles
In tears
It is not essential
That each stone strikes fire
Every jungle has moonlight
Each cloud bears rains
Each shell has a pearl
It is not essential
That every friend be unfaithful
Each nose be pierced
Each time you win
Each time I lose
It is not essential

But Why? (An Urdu/Hindi Poem of Neha Wagh in Translation)
Each time I have to suffer
Still I keep on making the same mistake
But why?
Each time it hurts my heart
Each time my eyes are tearful
Each time I sob and sigh
Each time I suffer all over
Still I go by my heart
But why?
Each time the same tears
The same grief
The same longings
The same wipeout
But why?
I can’t stop my hopeless hopes
I can’t make my loneliness my own
Nor can I touch someone’s heart’s chords
Still I keep on trying in false hopes
But why?
If I don’t have any life companion
If I remain alone in this world
If my yard remains but deserted
If pains pile up in my heart
Still I keep on hoping against hopes
But why?
- translated by Ravi Kopra
I teased her and she said nothing (Ghalib)
I teased her and she said nothing
She could have left me if drunk I were
Whatever, a devil or an evil
Only for me I wish she were
God should have given me a heart to bear
My sorrows, if destined for sorrows I were
I would have finally come across her
Had I lived a little longer as I were

Craig, I enjoyed your posts here, lately.
Goodmorning Everyone,
Craig and Stan, you are both too kind, thank you for your kind words.
I can understand that Toastmaster would get mad at something I have written, tact, is not my middle name, and he has the right to counter any comment, I will give him that. What he doesn't have is the right to attack me, that I do not give him. So, really, his attack is water flowing over the bridge.
As far as the "slut" thing. My point is that the only sluts in the world are the ones who live in the minds of the men who use the term. There are no sluts.
I live in a Nation where woman have the right to say, to do, and to wear what they choose, they have rights this is not the case for, way too many women, still, at this time in our history.
I just happen to have a passion for freedom. So, when I see a woman who is obviously told to cover herself, my reaction, is "go cover your own self!" I hate scarfs!
have a great day everyone,,ruth
as far as the other rude folks, what they say does not count since the are from the "spam a popper" crowd. all they deserve is the finger, the scrolling finger..bye
Hello Everyone,
just realized that I keep writing Toastmaster instead of Taomaster, really, it is not on purpose it is my eyes playing tricks on me..will try to type more slowly..sorry.

Hello Everyone,
wanted to comment on Nancy Pelosi and a group of Democrats traveling in the MIDEast. They say they are goint to go to Syria. I think this is a HUGE mistake on her part and the Democrat's part. It crosses a line of respect that they, in their Government positions, should know better than to cross. It is one thing to disagree with the President at home on the the floor of the Congress but it is not okay to go over his head on the issue of his foreign policy when traveling abroad while he is our President. If the Democrats win the White House then they can change foreign policy, but they cannot do it now.
It is an empty and rebellious act, a childish act, and the American people deserve more than this inept behaviour from our Government leaders..
ruth
Dear Ruth,
I want to clarify my comment #114.
My comment was a way to ridiculize the free attacks done to you, me and few others.
I never got any bad impressions about you and I like to read your comments here.
Let's breath in free space.
---
I admit my comment #1 was a bit over sentimental and sounds a bit gay. After a few walks thinking about it, I am realizing that I am keeping too much emotions inside, even my comments vibrates with this silent repressed voices.
Deepak, I'll be happy to be one of your guests at your new "Chopra Center for living". I am ready for a life-changing experience.
Stan
I did not realize that the Native American Indians said it first. Maybe that's where Worf got it. Anyway Worf is not real just a good visual when I think about death, with joy and passion.

Saturday Morning Thoughts Over My Cup Of Tea
I cannot go outside today because the pollen is so thick it's hard to breath. Soooo.....
There are memories and patterns that run deep within both the feminine and masculine collective.
Women for centuries have developed survival tactics to live in patriarchial societies, without losing their wisdom and passion and concern for all forms of life.. They have been forced to submit to all sorts of "skanky" things. To me, that was not "just" a scarf the British sailor was forced to wear. It was a symbol of being forced to submit. She wore it willingly in order to survive. I understand totally why ruth reacted the way she did. We here have the luxury to do so, and we as women should. I am not quite as sure I understand why the men reacted the way they did to ruth's comments. Thank you Jean-Francois for helping me understand.
Men I think, on a deep level, are actually rather more modest than women when it comes to such things as nakedness, sex etc. but they are forced by all societies we live in to be big macho brutes who must dominate, kill or be killed, solve all the problems and show their masculinity through their sexual prowess. etc and etc.
Wasn't forcing the men at Abu Garib to wear hoods and parade around naked on a leash held by that woman(I forgot her name) just a symbol of exposing men's modesty and forcing them to submit to a woman who they for centuries have attempted to dominate.
Both of these symbols are rather vicious and I don't understand why either should even have to exist. But, as a woman, this is how I feel and would like to hear some honest responses from the men.
Bonnie
In the sentence that reads I am not sure I understand why "the" men reacted..... should read I am not sure I understand why "some of the" men reacted the way they did.
I really should use the preview function more often.
Bonnie,
I only know how the word was used where I grew up.
We are talking about a woman here, not a minor.
A woman who dresses herself to be noticed sexually,
as opposed to a sharp, clean, business-looking woman
who dresses to get respect and keep it...
it isn't only that that earns the definition.
Promiscuity: a nymph's addiction to quantity, rather than quality.
That works both ways, it is true, but guys who play by 'the rules',
have either learned it from their mother or their peers
that a tease stays a tease while a slut is laid with ease.
In general, and I don't like to speak generally,
but it seems that during my generation the women went
back and forth between liking Clint Eastwood and Alan Alda.
So sometimes you want a sensitive guy
and sometimes you want one rough and ready.
And we often play one when you wish we'd be the other.
We practically can't win, so yes...we wish we COULD read your minds.
How often does it happen, and it happens here,
that a woman will entice a man to show some balls.
So some brave, courageous macho man whips 'em out
where they are vulnerable to being stepped on,
and usually that's exactly what transpires.
Nowadays, some women have more balls than men,
and some men can be as sensitive as a woman.
I'm sure I can't dominate a woman in any way whatsoever.
It's an awful lot of trouble anyway and the reward is 'no sex'.
That's cheating, sort of, isn't it? Either way,
it works and you win.
Oh why, oh why, did I stick my foot in this one?
American men are not perfect, but I think we've come a long way, baby!
Jeff, haven't you worked out who Michael is yet?
I guess with all that cutting and pasting it is difficult to even know yourself.
Michael is jesus is...?
Have a nice day.
Dear Keith:
I appreciate that. The thoughts I had over my second cup this morning were:
That duality was actually born in the Garden of Eden and Eve was not ashamed of being naked cause Adam thought she was luscious and sexy and since he couldn't see himself he thought he must be ugly and developed a deep aversion to being naked and developed all sorts of things to "cover up". I am speaking symbolically here.
But if you guys could see yourselves the way we actually see you, you2 would know you are luscious and sexy(again symbolically.)
In reality, we all have shadow issues, and play games and use language that some would think is not appropriate for a lady or gentleman. Lord knows, I surely have and gotten myself into conversations that turned out to be absurd. But sometimes "common" language can be ever so much more graphic - LOL
I think we play these games, because we still haven't realized that both men and women have the capacity to be either. We are mirrors of each other and as such are just brothers and sisters in the big circle of life. Neither of us are superior. When we realize this, we might all get a little more good sex and be a lot happier. -LOL
(Should I have said that)
This has taught me to act with a little more dignity and integrity but I will still be a
Warrior against injustice when I see it.
And also, when I think of my brothers, I would never ever want to do anything to hurt them.
Oh yeah! Bruce said "If you're rough and ready for love, I'm tougher than the rest." but then
Neil said
Come a little bit closer
Hear what I have to say
Just like children sleeping
We could dream this night away
But there's a full moon rising
Let's go dancing in the light
We know where the music's playing
Let's go out and feel the night.
We can all be both----or am I fooling myself again?
Love music.
Nice poems Phoenician.
Indeed Keith (ref. 216).
Peace
Then again Keith, I could just be FOS, in my assessment, because I(we) can't really read your mind either. Sometimes (we) just want you to talk to us without any other involvement.
Dear Bonnie,
I have 3 brothers...so of course, I'm completely lost.
Mother and Grandmother don't do much for developing
a sense of a 'primadonna' model for a sexy wife.
Yes! SEX, the word or the thought of it was considered
filthy, dirty trash reserved for the lower species of sinners
where I grew up in a Christian home.
"Don't touch yourself there!"
"You are now grounded for life and I will confiscate
every Playboy, Penthouse or God forbid, Hustler...
that I find while screening your room and personal property!"
Momma says, Momma says...and Jesus, too, but He loves you, anyway.
Craig knows what I'm talkin' bout. Don'tcha, bro?
Centerfolds don't ask you to talk to them first.
Hand lotion or 'mosc made creamy' appreciates
being used, no matter what the price...
no diamonds necessary. Caprice?
Single guys have different answers from a different
perspective than married guys and a twice divorced guy
has more experience than either of those two, imho.
And I like FOS...I mean, the abbreviated curse.
I will call you sister, Bonnie, fyi. Cool? Keith~
I am having a hard time expressing what I think, and am perhaps digging too deep and giving the wrong impression of what I am trying to say.
Anyway I appreciate your brave and honest answer, Keith. I wish more men could talk honestly with their women.
That's it for me. (And everybody says just like a woman talk talk talk talk....finally she shuts up!!)
one more thing...
whadayathank?
Adam was jacking-off when God received a thought
from the Divine Mother, "I'd better create his selfish ass a mate!"
Keith both of our posts hit at the same time, so before I leave, I will say I understand that bro. And before we all "go blind" we should turn sex back into something that is adult and healthy and good.Hmmmmm maybe men sometimes really just don't want to talk. I can respect that.
See ya,
Bonnie
Re225
My God did Adam really do that?
Dear Taomaster,
Here is your answer to comment #217. (By the way I am not Jeff).
I have some reasons to believe that this shockwave has been positively created by contributors of IB.
Keith
Re225 and 227---on second thought. According to what momma told my brothers, if Adam had done that he would have been blind and wouldn't have seen Eve anyway. Now there is a paradox for ya!
Or is that irony? Or all a cosmic joke.
I dunno.
A Portuguese Love Song in Translation
My Heart Began Beating With Hers (Chico Buarque)
Rita put my smile
In her smile
And my heart began
Beating with hers
And what’s right in me
She pulled it out of my chest
And what's more
She took out her portrait, her rag, her plate
And what a paper!
An image of Saint Francisco
And a pretty disc of Christmas
Rita killed our love
Of vengeance
She didn’t bring any inheritance
Nor did she bring a single penny
For she had none
But she caused me all troubles -
She took all my plans
My poor mistakes
My twenty years
My heart
And besides all this
She left me silent
A violin
- translated by Ravi Kopra

A Thousand Pardons (Chico Buarque)
I forgive you
For asking a thousand questions
That in life go together
But no one asks
I forgive you
For asking for pardon
Because you love me too much
I forgive you
I forgive you for calling
All the places
Where from I came
I forgive you
For raising your hand
And hitting me
I forgive you the moment
I yearn to go out
Having fun lost in you
I forgive you
For wanting to see me
And learning to lie (to lie, to lie)
I forgive you
For counting my hours
In my delays to be there
I forgive you because you cry
When I cry from laughing
I forgive you
For your betrayal

She shot back, "It's not talcum powder. It's 'Miracle Grow.'"
I agree with Ruth, we all have heard by now that the Iranians taking the British Military hostages, are committing an act in contravention of the
Geneva Convention, which Iran is a signatory of, by highlighting the Prisoners of war "faces", and having the girl wear head gear that is totally opposites depicting her faith, but to have to wear a scarf depicting the headchoppers faith, of which she is not ONE;
Can we hear the outcry from the New York Slimes if there were footage of a Muslim thug forced to hold a Christian Bible ( Same effect, the scarf denotes a Religion)..in his hand while he was eating his "free food"!
This is but more evidence on how the enemy gets away with breaking the Geneva Convention between the signatories of same, while the Coalition is
being criticized, and vilified for NOT honoring the Convention with WORLD INTERNATIONAL THUGS AND CONTRACT MURDERERS WHO HAVE NOT SIGNED THE GENEVA CONVENTION!
Time to put the UN in the list of EVIL STATES, along with Syria, and Iran, seeing like they are acting like a STATE that runs the WORLD....BUT ON THEIR TERMS ONLY!

I know the usual things ahall be number one and two, abortion, and gays not having the right to civilly union, but then what????
Small government (yeah right, as we have the largest bureaucracy ever known to mankind), tax breaks for the extremely rich while us 'average' people pay more, abolishing Social Security, privatizing health-care . . .
Steve I bet that me and you are probably very close in our respective political beliefs; but who is asking the questions and who is on TV every-dsy???
If you believe in Scripture Steve, like I have the feeling you do, will you agree with me that the first thing 'our' government should be doing is uplifting our poor brothers out there on those streets . . .
I would like to know your thoughts brother.

The guilty civilization that ended slavery and integrated baseball
"Under liberalism, society decides that something it is doing is wrong and determines to change, leaving its faults behind. So far, the process is like Christianity. But then something different happens. Instead of being rid of its past sins, meaning its past sins against liberal equality, instead of beginning a new life, the society feels more guilty than before, because by ceasing to commit the sin against equality it has admitted that it was committing that sin all along. Indeed, the further it gets in years away from that sin, such as racial discrimination, the more horrible and inconceivable the sin appears! And that history of sin can never be changed, erased, or forgotten. It is attached to the society at the hip forever, made part of its basic identity, invoked at every opportunity. The hypnotic thought that "we are a guilty country, we have done bad things," becomes part of the consciousness and subconsciousness of every member of the society, crippling it, taking away its ability to affirm and preserve its own existence."

Revolta is a well known and well despised FAGGIT. His "marriage" is laughable, a throwback to the 1950s and "Rock Hudson marriage". I really don't even care he is a revolting queer, but why hide it? And my main objection: he stinks as an actor. Rumors have him "dating" fellow faggit actor George Clooney.
US Army of Negroes, Dykes, Losers!
Is it any wonder that USA forces are being annihilated by Iraqi Freedom Fighters. We have never won a war with Negroes and lesbians as soldiers. Remember the Negro units retreating and losing in Korea and Vietnam. America should petition Iraq for a formal Surrender, and arrange payment of War Reparations.
Dear Administrators of Intentblog,
I would like to humbly request that the line which identifies the commentator be moved from the bottom of the posting to the top.
In this way, all users of the site will be able to quickly identify if the posting has been written by a person considered to be depraved or insane and more easily ignored. At present it is necessary to first scroll down to the bottom, and then back up if the commentator is new or familiarly interesting. On a sizeable blog this can take a lot of time to weed out the crazies.
Thank you for your consideration of this proposal.
the squid says: In this way, all users of the site will be able to quickly identify if the posting has been written by a person considered to be depraved or insane and more easily ignored.
Yes, I second that suggestion. This doesn't make any difference to my posts as my posts are generally SHORT(occupying less than 25 % of the smallest screen size available in the market), sweet and succinct. I am brief and to the point.
I am sorry, the regular verbose crowd(including the one who placed this request) will be badly demoralized as not many of the thousands who visit this blog read their comments anyway.
Michael: Short and brief is not demoralizing?

Good morning Micheal

Michael, I would like to know what you are so passionate about. You radiate so much energy that there must be something vitally important in you. You not here by mistake.

Dear Bonnie
More likely, it's an expression of a serious lack of sleep and good sex.
Dear Michael
It's very satisfying to see how deeply my words entered your soul, and how profoundly you've been frustrated at not getting an answer from me. Retribution, I say! :D !! I've been in Thrace for a few days, on that little pennisula across the strait from Turkey. It was pretty and peaceful, the sky was so blue, the sea reflected the light so beautifully, and smell of the salt sea and the pine trees entered my soul, as always. Sorry you weren't there to enjoy a retsina or two with me. Now I'm on my way to AP for the first time, don't know what I'll find. You know that kid's game, "Where in the world is Carmen Santiago"? That's how I feel. You know what I mean?? Michael, maybe we'll meet one day and we can discuss these issues face to face, he na? For now, just kiss my toes. Fighting the truth with obfuscation never works with people who can see across oceans.
Your aggressive words are, after all, nothing more than words, hiding a needy spirit that seems to be hungry for interaction at any price. What's amusing is how big your internal angers must appear to you, hiding yourself from yourself, whereas to us, they're nothing more than tiny pebbles strewn around your feet, and thus more likely to cause you pain when you step on them with your bare feet, than to hurt the the readers here. One day perhaps the anger will melt. From my point of view, your lively intelligence is very welcome here, but more so with the anger melted than otherwise. You have a good sense of humor. I noticed that there are very few IB posts classified under humor. Maybe one day you'll write a Weekly Intent, and your post will add one to the humor tally. I hope my long comment has fed your hunger a little. I take you seriously, but would love to see the real you, rather than the masked and angry you.
love, Heath
Btw, Michael, don't take #263 seriously, it's 95% joke.
Michael
The moronic voices said maybe a little levity would help. No arguments..seriously.
Bonnie
Does anyone have a psychic prophylactic?
Dear Heather!
No Heather, your comment #263 is clear, nice and real. It's 5% joke and serious.
We are able to face negative movements, we have no choice, we know it. Baby we have to be firm too and have disciple to maintain ourselves "connected" with our real vibs.
Negative energies has to been pull out after a while. It's a brute survival act. If we don't do that we get stuck with all the shit in the univers. Worst, I would say, shit chases us as hell laughing at our Saint stupidity.

Precisions about my comment #267
"... shit chases us as hell laughing at our Saint stupidity." - It's based on my life. Saint stupidity I know what it is. I was and I m still "Saint stupidity" trying to find my way out.
Where are the beauty women hearts? Heather is one that is still active? She is suffering with all these attacks. Where are these beauty ladies?

Where is Navin? Where do our conversations stop to be constructive, friendly? I am hurt for what I see... it's nothing faggy. I am a sensitive man and I want answers!
I do not like what is going on. DK disappears, like that... click... we don't know why! What is going on? I know there is something going on! What?
Dear Jean
A hug for, and bow to, your sensitivity, courage, clear vision, and your willingness to be vulnerable, and thus open and creative.
love, Heath
Dear Jean-Francois,
Just dashing into IB and reading your post # 267 - and it's only a matter of freedom - yeah, freedom :) to be able to see/face negative movements, especially inside ourselves, and not act from that place.
After a while, hmmmm - maybe, a ... long while ... negativity does vanish.
baby, hold on tight and watch the ones you love become even more beautiful :)

Dear Heather and Jean-Francois,
It's such a lovely spring day, and later there will be a colorful sunset on the river. We could take a walk along the wooded path.
We can bring snacks and sit on the patch of grass under the long branches of the beautiful oak tree.

Hi Kate
You make me feel like a nice spring shower has washed away all this pollen. I can breath again!
Go outside! See the beauty! Enjoy your walk.

Kate, Heather, Michael and Bonnie
Let's walk together in this evening sun,
Let our bodies feel the healing warmth...
Later, we retire to shades of mighty oak
In the woods let's play pranks until its time to relish the moon glow...
This night, let our hearts fill up in the spell of full moon beams...
PS: My alter-ego is kicking in..my secret is safe..I hope, this moon-lit night.
light/warm/good spirits seem restored for the moment. I hug you all, especially Jean, Kate, Keith, Stan, Richard, Michael, Bonnie.

We know where the music's playing
Let's go out and feel the night
I want to see you dance again!!

Leaning Into The Afternoons
Leaning into the afternoons I cast my sad nets
towards your oceanic eyes.
There in the highest blaze my solitude lengthens and flames,
its arms turning like a drowning man's.
I send out red signals across your absent eyes
that move like the sea near a lighthouse.
You keep only darkness, my distant female,
from your regard sometimes the coast of dread emerges.
Leaning into the afternoons I fling my sad nets
to that sea that beats on your marine eyes.
The birds of night peck at the first stars
that flash like my soul when I love you.
The night gallops on its shadowy mare
shedding blue tassels over the land.
I will let Lady Izumi Shikibu(970-1030) speak for you Kate

If someone would come,
I could show, and have him listen-
evening light shining
on bush clover in full bloom
as crickets bring on the night.
Heather, I couldn't choose between an Emily Dickinson's poem (whose style I find is similar to your's in half-poems), and a sonnet by Michael Drayton, which is equally powerful.
So here's both ..
******************************
Poem 640 by Emily Dickinson(1830-1886)
I cannot live with You --
It would be Life --
And Life is over there --
Behind the Shelf
The Sexton keeps the Key to --
Putting up
Our Life -- His Porcelain --
Like a Cup --
Discarded of the Housewife --
Quaint -- or Broke --
A newer Sevres pleases --
Old Ones crack --
I could not die -- with You --
For One must wait
To shut the Other's Gaze down --
You -- could not --
And I -- Could I stand by
And see You -- freeze --
Without my Right of Frost --
Death's privilege?
Nor could I rise -- with You --
Because Your Face
Would put out Jesus' --
That New Grace
Glow plain -- and foreign
On my homesick Eye --
Except that You than He
Shone closer by --
They'd judge Us -- How --
For You -- served Heaven -- You know,
Or sought to --
I could not --
Because You saturated Sight --
And I had no more Eyes
For sordid excellence
As Paradise
And were You lost, I would be --
Though My Name
Rang loudest
On the Heavenly fame --
And were You -- saved --
And I -- condemned to be
Where You were not --
That self -- were Hell to Me --
So We must meet apart --
You there -- I -- here --
With just the Door ajar
That Oceans are -- and Prayer --
And that White Sustenance --
Despair --

Sonnet 61 from Ideas by Michael Drayton(1563-1631)
Since there’s no help, come let us kiss and part--
Nay, I have done: you get no more of me;
And I am glad, yea, glad with all my heart,
That thus so cleanly I myself can free.
Shake hands for ever, cancel all our vows;
And when we meet at any time again,
Be it not seen in either of our brows
That we one jot of former love retain.
Now, at the last gasp of Love’s latest breath,
When, his pulse failing, Passion speechless lies,
When Faith is kneeling by his bed of death,
And Innocence is closing up his eyes, --
Now, if thou wouldst, when all have given him over,
From death to life thou might'st him yet recover.
Kate, I believe you would love the poem, "When I heard at the Close of the Day" by Walt Whitman (1819–1892) from "Leaves of Grass"
************************
When I heard at the close of the day how my name had been receiv’d with plaudits in the capitol, still it was not a happy night for me that follow’d;
And else, when I carous’d, or when my plans were accomplish’d, still I was not happy;
But the day when I rose at dawn from the bed of perfect health, refresh’d, singing, inhaling the ripe breath of autumn,
When I saw the full moon in the west grow pale and disappear in the morning light,
When I wander’d alone over the beach, and undressing, bathed, laughing with the cool waters, and saw the sun rise,
And when I thought how my dear friend, my lover, was on his way coming, O then I was happy;
O then each breath tasted sweeter, and all that day my food nourish’d me more, and the beautiful day pass’d well,
And the next came with equal joy, and with the next, at evening, came my friend;
And that night, while all was still, I heard the waters roll slowly continually up the shores,
I heard the hissing rustle of the liquid and sands, as directed to me, whispering, to congratulate me,
For the one I love most lay sleeping by me under the same cover in the cool night,
In the stillness, in the autumn moonbeams, his face was inclined toward me,
And his arm lay lightly around my breast—and that night I was happy.
Jean-Francois,
It is a beautiful spring day where I am now.
The magnolia trees have blossomed with huge, pink flowers.
The quaint, miniature cherry and apple trees have followed suit
with dainty, pure-white petals reflecting the sun in all it's glory.
The bushes and trees went from buds to leaves
and every rabbit, squirrel, robin, blue-jay, cardinal,
finch, wood-pecker and sparrow are out in tall order.
So I had to take a seat on the porch with a book
to soak up some rays and get the white-wash to subside.
You now deserve a poem, my northern friend.
This is for Michael, and I promise, I stop my alter-ego spamming.

"Spring and Fall" by Gerard Manley Hopkins (1844–89)
To a Young Child
MÁRGARÉT, áre you gríeving
Over Goldengrove unleaving?
Leáves, líke the things of man, you
With your fresh thoughts care for, can you?
Áh! ás the heart grows older
It will come to such sights colder
By and by, nor spare a sigh
Though worlds of wanwood leafmeal lie;
And yet you wíll weep and know why.
Now no matter, child, the name:
Sórrow’s spríngs áre the same.
Nor mouth had, no nor mind, expressed
What heart heard of, ghost guessed:
It ís the blight man was born for,
It is Margaret you mourn for.
For Jean-Francois
Out of my deeper heart a bird rose and
flew skyward.
Higher and higher did it rise, yet larger
and larger did it grow.
At first it was but like a swallow, then
a lark, then and eagle, then as vast as a
spring cloud, and then it filled the starry
heavens.
Out of my heart a bird flew skyward.
And it waxed larger as it flew. Yet it left
not my heart.
....................
O my faith, my untamed knowledge,
how shall I fly to your height and see with
you man's larger self pencilled upon the sky?
How shall I turn this sea within me into
mist and move with you in space immeasurable?
How can a prisoner within the temple behold its golden domes?
How shall the heart of a fruit be stretched to envelop the fruit also?
O my faith, I am in chains behind these bars of silver and ebony, and I cannot fly with you
Yet out of my heart you rise skyward, and it is my heart that holds you, and I shall be content.

.
You come to us from another world.
From beyond the stars and void of space.
Transcendent, Pure, of unimaginable beauty,
Bringing with you the essence of love.
You transform all who are touched by you.
Mundane concerns, troubles and sorrows
Dissolve in your presence,
Bringing joy to ruler and ruled,
To peasant and king.
You bewilder us with your grace.
All evils transform into goodness.
You are the master alchemist.
You light the fire of love
In earth and sky,
In heart and soul
Of every being.
Through your loving
Existence and nonexistence merge.
All opposites unite.
All that is profane
Becomes sacred again.
Keith, that is a beautiful description of Spring. I am honored to deserve such a poem. Thank you.
Bonnie, well, what can I say? Great imagery, metaphors and ideas expressed so beautifully. You show a natural talent for poetry, but more importantly you posses a heart for poetic expression of our deepest feelings. Thank you.

Remembering John F Kennedy's speech -- I am a Berliner! -- or as he said it "Ich bin ein Berliner", which actually translates to "I am a jam doughnut!" , in June 1963, Germany, we watched the collapse of the Berlin wall with some of our faculty at the University of Southampton, England, in the same department of electronics and computer science where Sir Tim Berner-Lee, the inventor of the world wide web at CERN, now holds a Chair. On 9th November 1989, I remember that one of the students queried, "Is this the collapse of Socialism and the Soviet Doctrine?" and one of our faculty members
who had liaised with Eastern Europe and had also worked estensively at the Nobel Prize winners club -- also known as Bell Labs -- in the US remarked, "Yes, and the beginning of the end of extreme Capitalism as we know it." "How long?" shot another query. "The Berlin wall has collapsed because the Soviet Union has failed in Afghanistan and emboldened by their retreat the Eastern European dominoes are falling one by one beginning with the fault line. When Western Capitalism meets its Afghanistan, then we will see the beginning of the end of the present confrontational thinking based around the cold war." Little did we realise that his prediction may be alluding to the real Afghanistan [and Iraq] and not a metaphorical one!
Capitalism has lost its way in some of its ruthlessness, short-termism and down right disregard for leaving people, the planet and its environment in a healthy condition for generations to come. Of this, there is no doubt. However, what will replace it. Totalitarianism based on an ever increasing restriction on civil rights and liberties? Perhaps not. And we may indeed head towards the Blended Value approach, which would require a new way of thinking, accounting and management practices.
Value is what gets created when investors invest and organisations act to pursue their mission. Traditionally, we have thought of value as being either economic (created by for-profit companies) or social (created by non-profit or Non-governmental Organizations, ie, NGOs). What the Blended Value Investment Approach states is that all organisations, whether for-profit or not, create value that consists of economic, social and environmental value components — and that investors (whether market-rate, charitable or some mix of the two) simultaneously generate all three forms of value through providing capital to organisations.
The outcome of all this investment activity is value creation and that value is itself non-divisible and, therefore, a blend of these three elements. The term 'blended value' was coined by Dr Jed Emerson, Senior Fellow at The William & Flora Hewlett Foundation and Lecturer at The Graduate School of Business, Stanford University. Dr Emerson, utilised the term to articulate that all forms of organisational activity have social, environmental, cultural and financial dimensions.
So, there is a fundamental schism in modern capitalistic thinking which needs to be readdressed. The vast majority of people divide the world into business on the one hand, which is perceived to be principally about economic activity and the financial bottom line, and the public sector and civil society on the other hand, which are perceived to be about social and environmental bottom lines.
The reality of "Blended Value" is being increasingly reflected in a blurring of the lines in the 21st century between public, private and civil society activity. Large corporations are becoming ever more concerned about their environmental and social impacts; NGOs are becoming increasingly engaged with private sector organisations, and many are also looking at the extent to which some of their activities can be commercialised through social enterprise activities; while governments continue to increase the reach of public private partnerships, and are now also encouraging the 'social sector' to compete with the private sector in tendering for the delivery of public services.
However, the majority of decision makers still tend to operate with an isolationist mentality and act as if the public, private and civil society sectors are separate worlds. So we live compartmentalised parallel lives, wearing multiple hats and operating according to different rules depending on which hat we are wearing: business executive, family member, counsellor, charitable trustee, and so on. The prevailing mentality remains that business is about making money whereas charity is about addressing social or environmental issues, after one has made the money. So the default strategy of even the more socially conscious business leaders is to make their money in the commercial world first and put it to 'good use' later through philanthropic activities. This strategy is frequently undertaken with no apparent awareness of the conflicts and contradictions within their overall portfolio of business and philanthropic activities -- where sometimes the very problems that their philanthropic donations are being targeted at are being exacerbated by their business and investment strategies. How sad is that?
Philanthropists feel good because they may donate around 5% per annum of their capital base to charitable causes -- helping to build a better world -- whilst growing their main capital pool by 7% to 10% per annum by investing in projects that may be busy destroying, damaging or disabling the world. Where is the sanity in that?
Would it not be better to invest ethically in the first place keeping blended value in mind and execute the "building a better world" strategy through prudent investment so that 100% of their capital is being employed judiciously to achieve harmony and well being. Although the returns may be somewhat lower as a result, this would still be better than giving less than 5% amounts away to charity to clean the conscience, whilst Rome burns. Using the lever of properly directed investment can change a lot more than "charity peanuts".
These contradictions are often most apparent within large existing foundations. What are they really? Mostly they are investment management businesses that donate 5% or so of their profits to charity every year. When we are in private dialogue with such foundations, It is an uphill battle to persuade the trustees and asset managers of many of these foundations that it makes sense to ensure that their investment activities do not merely consider the maximisation of financial returns within certain risk parameters, but are also in sync with the social mission of the foundation. Speaking to the founder of the foundation can be an entirely different story!
When one considers the scale of the complex social and environmental challenges that the world faces today, it is clear that we have no hope of moving ourselves off the losing trajectory we are now on without mobilising the business and finance sectors in a more serious way. According to multiple sources, private philanthropic activity amounts to only 2% of GDP in the US, 1% in the UK, and less in much of the rest of Europe and elsewhere. So while it is commendable that Bill Gates and Warren Buffett are giving away their wealth to address social causes, ultimately it is highly unlikely that such gestures will ever amount to more than a drop in the ocean compared to what we could achieve (and need to achieve) by mobilising the full weight of business behind our greatest social and environmental issues.
This is not about the 'corporate community involvement' activities under the banner of PR -- Public Relations -- and CSR -- Corporate and Social Responsibility -- that operate at the fringes of corporate activity, commendable and self-serving as they are -- but rather it is about the more serious efforts of all businesses, from large multi-national organisations through to entrepreneurial start-ups, in putting their financial and intellectual firepower into finding innovative commercial opportunities to address social and environmental issues.
The Philanthropia
Encouragingly there is a small but growing band of private investors who are beginning to understand that these worlds need not remain separate as exemplified by The Philanthropia approach. This is the vision of The Philanthropia for 21st century wealth management, which is bringing together over 1,000 ultra high net-worth philanthropists and family foundations from across the world. In Greek, Philos means Love and Anthropos means Humankind so The Philanthropia means love for humankind. The Philanthropia was founded in 2005 by myself and my wife -- Surinda -- and focuses on The Trinity Club, Uni-purpose Investment Syndicates and Ethical Investment Funds dedicated to clean energy, sustainable technologies, micro-finance, water and eco-friendly infrastructure. The Geneva Chapter was inaugurated in Switzerland in May 2006. As more and more wealthy investors and philanthropists get their heads around the idea of a blended value approach to investing and philanthropy, we feel we are truly making some progress.
Long Term Vision
In the long term, The Philanthropia wishes to empower an integrated approach towards wealth management -- beyond the traditional Private Banking approach honed by UBS, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, CitiGroup, HSBC and JP Morgan -- that looks at financial, social and environmental objectives and then takes a holistic approach to asset allocation across all classes of investment, including philanthropic donations viewed as an asset class, as well as sub-market social investments, micro-finance, sustainable technologies, clean water, clean energy and eco-friendly infrastructure. Rather than focusing purely on the risk return profile an investor seeks, what sort of creative thinking could Blended Value wealth managers inspire by asking their clients: "How would you like to build a better world for the next generation and beyond by utilising the resources you have at your disposal to help create that world?"
What are your thoughts, observations and views?
With all good wishes

Dear Keith, Bonnie, Jean-Francois, and Heather~
It was a colorful sunset tonight. There were several little families of birds, the blue heron and egrets, and a rosetta spoonbill. What was really cool - I saw 2 wild turkeys in a grassy patch where the river is dry, and they are rare to see!
I did have a snack along with me, and I thought of each of you, knowing if you were near to me, we would have shared it, along with a nice walk and great conversation.
I hope you are all resting very well now, and dreaming.
Here I add one of my favorite poems for our Sunday afternoon parlor reading :)
Love,

This and my heart beside,
This and my heart, and all the fields,
And all the meadows wide.
Be sure you count, should I forget,
Some one the sun could tell,
This and my heart, and all the bees
Which in the clover dwell.

The natural flow of conversation has been interrupted and hijacked.
All comments from #273 are NOT MINE.
A contributor here at IB seems to have a lot of pleasure to use the identity of others. We have seem that in the past with Heather, North, Navin... and what about those mysterious spammers, unsencered.
Body, let's make it clear... NOBODY takes my identity, not even you. You have made a terrible mistake.
Now, Jean-Francois is dead.
The Chopra family has some simple questions left with no answers. Karma will chases you. Faked Dharma will die.
Listen to me very well. We are not spiritual puppets. Whatever your black magic level is I'll be your shadow until I got answers. You have to know where ends your EGO sir. Look closely, I am already your alter-ego.
I am right in front your nose and you don't know my name.

"don't take #263 seriously, it's 95% joke."
I tried to decipher #263 but unlike you I find that it wasn't an attempt at humor. There may be something seriously wrong with your psyche. Or is it another case of mistaken identity? May be.
The only joke is that you haven't clarified the questions, Who? and How?, yet.
#265 Bonnie
"Michael, The moronic voices said maybe a little levity would help. No arguments..seriously."
Good for 'you'.
doodleman, I don't think anyone's here by mistake. Every man has his reason. I don't believe in purpose and I don't believe in radiating paranormal energy rings.
There seems to be something queer going on in J-Focker's life. He has now transformed into Chopra's alter-ego!
Let's see the progress of desire: Navin --> DK --> Deepak --> The Pope?
Michael, J-F rightly pointed out that in claiming a 95% joke, I was trying to soften my words, and the joke-to-serious ratio should have been reversed. You understand #263 exactly, in its entirety. Yes, it wasn't a joke. Your questions to me need no answers from me. You know them already.
Your derision of others, and attempts to tell them what to think, and how /what to write, are not worthy of a mind and spirit such as yours.
To be jealous of open-spirited, courageous men such as Deepak Chopra, DK Matai, Keith, and J-F, whomever he may be, and Derek is also unworthy of you.
hgquinn
Since according to you, I understand #263 exactly, in its entirety, but apparently I don't, I am Lier then. Say that to my face.
"How and Who?"
If those questions need no answers why were the comments, which brought up those questions, have had to be posted by you in the first place?
bitch-play to the audience? Simple questions have simple answers. Even if you think I know the answer, you need to answer some very valid questions which I ask you time and again in an open forum.
Also, you know full well what is "worthy" and what isn't, of a mind and spirit as "mine"?
Understand this: I am "jealous" of nobody.
I don't understand what makes you think I am jealous. The whole thing is so silly there seems to be a story behind the word "jealous" and you.
Dear Heath,
The grim *bleaper* has been with us for some time.
Not.
Dear Michael
I believe you understand #263. I haven't called you a liar. If you choose to call yourself a liar, that's up to you. I think you know the answers to the questions you ask, and your asking is meant to convince others that you don't. I sense in you passion, humor, intelligence. I believe these qualities can be put to a use that's more productive than tearing other people down, people who have every right to be here, who've made this place a community of sorts over the months. Your aggressive disrespect of others is an obvious symptom of jealousy, so obvious that one can almost see a lurid green bleeding into the screen around your words. All thoughts stated here are my opinions, my beliefs.
Dear Keith
Grim whatever. A bad boy he's being.

No hoods. No electric shocks. No beatings. These Iranians clearly are a very uncivilised bunch
Terry Jones

The Guardian
I share the outrage expressed in the British press over the treatment of our naval personnel accused by Iran of illegally entering their waters. It is a disgrace. We would never dream of treating captives like this - allowing them to smoke cigarettes, for example, even though it has been proven that smoking kills. And as for compelling poor servicewoman Faye Turney to wear a black headscarf, and then allowing the picture to be posted around the world - have the Iranians no concept of civilised behaviour? For God's sake, what's wrong with putting a bag over her head? That's what we do with the Muslims we capture: we put bags over their heads, so it's hard to breathe. Then it's perfectly acceptable to take photographs of them and circulate them to the press because the captives can't be recognised and humiliated in the way these unfortunate British service people are.
It is also unacceptable that these British captives should be made to talk on television and say things that they may regret later. If the Iranians put duct tape over their mouths, like we do to our captives, they wouldn't be able to talk at all. Of course they'd probably find it even harder to breathe - especially with a bag over their head - but at least they wouldn't be humiliated.
And what's all this about allowing the captives to write letters home saying they are all right? It's time the Iranians fell into line with the rest of the civilised world: they should allow their captives the privacy of solitary confinement. That's one of the many privileges the US grants to its captives in Guantánamo Bay.
The true mark of a civilised country is that it doesn't rush into charging people whom it has arbitrarily arrested in places it's just invaded. The inmates of Guantánamo, for example, have been enjoying all the privacy they want for almost five years, and the first inmate has only just been charged. What a contrast to the disgraceful Iranian rush to parade their captives before the cameras!
What's more, it is clear that the Iranians are not giving their British prisoners any decent physical exercise. The US military make sure that their Iraqi captives enjoy PT. This takes the form of exciting "stress positions", which the captives are expected to hold for hours on end so as to improve their stomach and calf muscles. A common exercise is where they are made to stand on the balls of their feet and then squat so that their thighs are parallel to the ground. This creates intense pain and, finally, muscle failure. It's all good healthy fun and has the bonus that the captives will confess to anything to get out of it.
And this brings me to my final point. It is clear from her TV appearance that servicewoman Turney has been put under pressure. The newspapers have persuaded behavioural psychologists to examine the footage and they all conclude that she is "unhappy and stressed".
What is so appalling is the underhand way in which the Iranians have got her "unhappy and stressed". She shows no signs of electrocution or burn marks and there are no signs of beating on her face. This is unacceptable. If captives are to be put under duress, such as by forcing them into compromising sexual positions, or having electric shocks to their genitals, they should be photographed, as they were in Abu Ghraib. The photographs should then be circulated around the civilised world so that everyone can see exactly what has been going on.
As Stephen Glover pointed out in the Daily Mail, perhaps it would not be right to bomb Iran in retaliation for the humiliation of our servicemen, but clearly the Iranian people must be made to suffer - whether by beefing up sanctions, as the Mail suggests, or simply by getting President Bush to hurry up and invade, as he intends to anyway, and bring democracy and western values to the country, as he has in Iraq.

Her Mind
She hears whispers,
she hears noises.
She wakes up at one
after midnight and
wonders if someone is
hiding around stealing
her jewelry and dowry.
Children fast asleep.
Her puppy meditating.
Silence in the street.
Little Lord Ganesha sitting in
the corner, his belly protruding
from all the sweets
and prashads offerings
is smiling through the
marigold and jasmine
garlands heaped around
his neck.
Rats, Ganesha's favourite pets,
awake, came dancing around for
the ladoos and boondi offerings
and she, awake, worrying her well
being in jewelry and dowry.
Love, lust, sex, fear and money,
empty or bloating bellies
keep many of us awake past
midnights.

Hi Empyrius:
Ref. to your message #241
I have send you an email to your public msn email account. I was a little late in answering your request.
Have a happy day, anything else?? Please ask?
Sincerely,
Steve:
Dear Heather,
While I have agreed with your posts in the past, and broadly agree with #307, with the greatest of respect, I feel that it is also a bit of an unfair and sweeping generalisation of anonymity.
Sure, anonymity can be a mask behind which some hide to perpetrate Evil in relative safety.
In my case I choose a handle for different reasons:
- I come here to learn and to share. My name is not important, just my intent, and I hope that can be determined from my words. Since I greatly respect you, I hope that you do not find my words either aggressive or negative, as that is never my intent, though as a human I am prone to err from time to time.
- My name is nothing more than a label given to me by my parents. It provides no valuable information about me personally, and only serves to identify my family, whom I absolutely want to keep anonymous from the public eye.
- My handle is my own choice, and I feel it is far more representative of me as a person (click my handle to see why it is what it is). If I were to choose my own name, it would be my handle. It is the name of my heart and my soul.
- If my words and the ideas and concepts they convey should ever be of use to someone, I would rather that person remembered the message contained within those words, rather than be distracted by who I am, since I am but a humble vehicle for their delivery.
With love and respect,
Mike aka The White Charger.
Dear TWC / Mike
I like your defense of anonymity.
The link to the article was meant to provide a way for objective information to reach those who convince themselves that being anonymous gives them license to act in a manner they would otherwise avoid if they were not anonymous.

Heather Says: For the masked PLAYERS HERE, and those concerned about the effects of anonymity, and sensing that SOME WHO are aggressive and negative here are so because THEY'RE bored
WHO are they? according to you. I am asking sweetly..so, please answer with names. If you don't then there is no credibility behind your accusations. You apparently think that I am one of the players. Fine. I appreciate your concern. Who are the others? Probably they don't realize their folly. Some one has to pin point them and say "look, you are a masked man You are saying things which you won't in real life." It helps them if you name them, it also helps me if you name them. I will know where exactly I stand in the abuse chart of anonymity.
Be specific. It helps a lot.
Heather also says: being anonymous gives them license to act in a manner they would otherwise avoid if they were not anonymous.
You might think I am abusive, evil or whatever but I don't agree with your definition of anonymity. I am using my typekey profile which clearly identifies all my posts. In cyber world that isn't anonymity. I take responsibility for everything I write.
I will leave you with some ominous words from J-Francois(#295) to think about in relation with the Stanford prison experiment and the Abu Ghraib incident:
The Chopra family has some simple questions left with no answers. Karma will chases you. Faked Dharma will die.
Listen to me very well. We are not SPIRITUAL PUPPETS. Whatever your black magic level is I'll be your shadow until I got answers. You have to know where ends your EGO sir. Look closely, I am already your alter-ego.
I am right in front your nose and you don't know my name
PS: Capitalization is mine.
Please answer the question WHO? in your numerous comments. PlEASE PLEASE PLEASE.. Names please.
For those who find those words by Jean-Francois ambiguous, just to make it clear, they are addressed to Deepak Chopra. Appraently, it seems that he has become Chopra's alter ego.
Quoting Philip G. Zimbardo from the article posted by hgquinn:
"At Abu Ghraib, you didn’t have higher-ups saying, “You must do these terrible things.” The authorities, I believe, created an environment that gave guards permission to become abusive — plus one that gave them plausible deniability."
"How bad did it get? The guards ordered the prisoners to simulate sodomy. Why? Because the guards were bored. Boredom is a powerful motive for evil. I have no idea how much worse things might have gotten." (Harvard Prison Experiment)
About Philip G. Zimbardo:
"His Stanford Prison Experiment in 1971, known as the S.P.E. in social science textbooks, showed how anonymity, conformity and boredom can be used to induce sadistic behavior in otherwise wholesome students. More recently, Dr. Zimbardo, 74, has been studying how policy decisions and individual choices led to abuse at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. The road that took him from Stanford to Abu Ghraib is described in his new book, “The Lucifer Effect: Understanding How Good People Turn Evil” (Random House)."
Quoting Mallika Chopra from her recent comment:
"There is so much wisdom, humor and fun in our community, so we figured lets find ways to do new things"
Quoting Jean-Frqancois's comment to Deepak Chopra:
"Listen to me very well. We are not SPIRITUAL PUPPETS. Whatever your black magic level is I'll be your shadow until I got answers. You have to know where ends your EGO sir. Look closely, I am already your alter-ego.
I am right in front your nose and you don't know my name"
Quoting Zimbardo again:
"When I look back on it, I think, “Why didn’t you stop the cruelty earlier?” To stand back was contrary to my upbringing and nature.
When I stood back as a noninterfering experimental scientist, I was, in a sense, as drawn into the power of the situation as any prisoners and guards."(Harvard Prison Experiment)
"I knew from our experiment, if you put good apples into a bad situation, you’ll get bad apples."
Look out for J-F, there is an evil one in the making.
"The guards ordered the prisoners to simulate sodomy. Why? Because the guards were bored."
ummmmm ... ... there are a lot of parallels that are to be noted, between the Harvard Prison Experiment and the Intentblog Spiritual experiment.
I ask Heather, who brought up this subject, TO NAME THE NAMES OF THOSE GUARDS("pack of wolves"), and I promise to co-operate.

ABC News Exclusive: The Secret War Against Iran
ABC exposes a COVERT operation in Pakistan, they are going to try to spin it that the US is "aiding" a group that is fighting in Iran against Iranians, which is not true though the US is not telling them to STOP! The US are not giving them money, so say the US, but the opposition says money is being funnel led in from outside sources, however the US are infiltrating the enemy, using surrogates who are experienced in the front lines, which is what we expect our Govt to do as part of defeating them!
Chris Plant on WMAL WASHINGTON??? is all over this story, which he has the guts to do as it is his station ABC that let the story out for all (the world) to see!
Now listen to the enemy within remark and spin this one???
God bless the troops;
Steve:
Pakistan....their Leaders that have been responsible for this operation to exist is going to be one un-happy bunch of puppies with the embarrassment that it is going to cause them, how can they trust the US when factions of the United States lefties are traitors to their cause, and ANY of our friends in the International community with the US now PERCEIVED as fighting on both sides at the same time!
This is one hell of a way to create distrust among our allies, which lends as part of the plan for the release of the information on the operation in the first place!
If our allies cannot be trusted to be a whole hearted and committed friend, they can't be trusted, so our underground information and fighters will become non existent!
Now the group that have been working behind the scenes in Iran, are on the hit list of every hostile Arab group in the world, Al Queda being the top of the list, so ABC can take full responsibility for that??? ARE THEY PROUD, AFTER ALL THEY THINK THE US PUBLIC DESERVE TO KNOW??? CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT, THEN LETS PRINT THE FILES OF THE CIA AND THE FBI AND ALL LETTERS OF CONVENTION IN THE CONGRESS TOO DON'T THE PUBLIC HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW....EVERYTHING ALL THE TIME!
IN OTHER WORDS.....ANARCHY AND THE LAWS SHALL BE SET BY MOHAMAD! ALLAH AKABAR!( whatever!)

Promise (A Spanish Love Poem of Meira Delmar in Translation)
Some blue, flowered morning
we'll go sweetly hands in hands
to listen to the stories the creek murmurs
before the easy amazement of the naked stones...
Lover, we will not speak a single word:
our eyes will speak the language of magic,
and the curious breeze will come very quietly
without breaking the spell of the enchanted hour
Later...like a bunch of beautiful fresh grapes
- cut from the vine by unskilled hands -
I will leave in your mouth with a little fear
the ignored flavor of my first kisses...

I think you make some interesting points.
"It helps them if you name them, it also helps me if you name them. I will know where exactly I stand in the abuse chart of anonymity.
Be specific. It helps a lot."
Do you really think it helps? That's a genuine question not bait.
In my own humble experience people are either:
1) Fully aware of what they are doing, and happy with that.
2) Know that they are imperfect and prone to make mistakes, are working towards improving that, and forgive themselves for their human imperfections
3) Don't give a damn either way.
In cases 1 and 3 they are unlikely to care what other people think, or whether they are named by some individual or not. Anonymity for them, if they choose to use it, is but a temporary mask, once removed they hide behind some other mask of diminished responsibility like "God told me to do x, it is not MY fault you don't like it."
So naming them is not enough.
You can choose to perform some act of aggression against them in order to change them, in which case knowing their real name / identity IS important but only to the aggressor.
Or you can can choose to change them by some act of Love, in which case their names and identity are irrelevant.
In the case of 2, people are more likely to respond positively to an act of Love rather than aggression anyway, so the same applies re needing to know their names.
I am also genuinely curious why you need to know where you stand in the abuse chart of anonymity?
If you are bothered by it, then regardless of where you stand, you should strive to be less abusive than you currently are. Even if you are hardly abusive at all. For your own sake (i.e. to be less bothered by it).
If you are not bothered by it, then why does it matter?
I am genuinely curious, and neither spamming you nor baiting you.
Feel free to exercise your Free Will and ignore me, if you feel this is drawing you into a pigheaded or warped dialogue.

You should feel good to come back anytime you want... I have to admit, I am furious a bit to not know what happened. Why are you quitting us so suddenly? I have a strange feeling... please if you do not want to write here, please DK, email me.
Friendly,
Jean
P.S: I have a little video for you. (click my name)
