Ooh, The Yoga Sutras of Pantanjali get me hot.
What?! I had to tie-in the title early, people. You blog people can be such pervs!
A tantric glossary defines “siddhi” as "a magickal or spiritual power for the control of self, others and the forces of nature".
I’ll show you mine if you show me yours.
These extraordinary human abilities are in actuality supernormal perceptual states available to all human beings. SIDDHI in Sanskrit means “ Accomplished One” . The word shares roots with The Buddha’s name Siddharta and means "he whose aim is accomplished,"
Siddhi phenomena, such as Telepathy, bilocality, OBE’s and remote viewing and the like pisses off the skeptics. My guess is that they probably aren’t “getting’ any”.
Back in 500 A.D., the siddhis were summarized in Patanjali’s “Yoga Sutras”. Jean Millay PhD., introduced me to Dr. Dean Brown’ s translation, included in his book “The Upanishads”. While there are many translations of the writing, several share the following verse one in chapter four:
"IV KAIVALYA PADA --
Verse 1: janma-osadhi-mantra-tapah-samadhi-jah siddayahsamadhi.
1- The siddhis are born of birth, drugs, mantras, tapas, or samadhis.. "
The verses continue, saying that the use of certain herbs it is possible for a partial or full Awakening can be achieved. In Sanskrit, the method of Awakening through herbs is called Aushadhi. Writing from Buddhist researcher Anna Jones contends:
“ Awakening thus achieved, can, under the right circumstances and conditions, albeit short term, replicate at least partially the level of a Chalabhinna, an Arhat of the third level of realization with the ability of Iddhavidha, the power of transformation.” (Jones, 2004)
Jones continues:
"The power of Siddhis can come because of previous Karma and genetics (janma), from herbs (Aushadhis), the use of Mantras, the kindling of the psychic fire (tapas), and/or from Samadhi."
She also cites translations from some sources as the following, reading the same:
"The attainments are not only the fruits of the Threefold Inner Discipline, but they are congenital in some, and in others they may follow the right and intelligent use of certain medicinal herbs or of certain mantras or they may follow the kindling of the psychic fire.
I believe all of us, fantasize about “Laghima Siddhi “- The ability to make one's body lighter than air and fly at will. In the perfection of this siddhi, one is able to travel on the sun's rays and enter into the sun. Imagine if you could get air miles for that trip!
Ladies, you will SO love the siddhis of LAGHIMA: " TO HAVE NO WEIGHT".
Laghima is the control of the effect of the gravity on the body by developing in each cell an opposite (centrifugal) tendency. And levitation is totally sexy when David Blaine does it.
And the ability to bring others under one's control, or “Vashita Siddhi” sounds very hot in an SM, fetish kinda way-
As with any other natural human ability, certain people have stronger propensities towards developing and/or spontaneously displaying siddhis. Some folks are born with gifts that they exercise without being aware that their particular psychic gift is unusual.
In other cases, one can practice yoga and actively develop siddhis. Since increasing my yogic and meditation practice, some things have been “happening”. Another means to trigger off siddhis in an unexpected and uncontrolled manner is by the use of certain hallucinogens and entheogens such as LSD, mescaline, peyote and others.
I am curious what stories you intentbloggers have to share.
So, go ahead. You, first.
Press “star”, then “pound” and punch in your credit card number.
I’m waiting.

Now I understand why I hear the news of the tongues of those men and women who are accused of performing black magic are being cut by the villagers in rural India.
I used to think that this was all superstition, blind beliefs etc.
I can also understand now that the practice of the witches burned at the stake in medieval Europe and at Salem had some real dark reasons too.
I also thought that David Blaine does levitation by magic trick. He says it's magic. Other magicians have repeated it too. But, now, I change my mind..ummm
DK:
Some how I feel our paths are going to cross not to far in the future. I think I have something to offer your organization I'm just not sure of what it is yet.
Funny that this past 3 months I have been physically involved in building the "Bjoerg or Giant Snow Man" for this springs Sechseleuten ritual here in Zürich, Switzerland.
Did you know that the burning of the Björg is more then just celebrating the melting of the snows?
It has its roots in paganism and in the "psychic" realm symbolizes burning (chasing away) the spirits of winter to make room for the spirits of spring.
It is also believed that the speed at which the Börg is consumed by the flame is in direct correlation to the length of the upcoming summer.
Now although I am not into superstition or paganism and I place my soul wholly in the "spiritual" realm and not that of the "psychic" realm I must say that since I returned to Zürich from Los Angeles in 2003 I have been following this event and each summers length has been accurately predicted by the burning of the Börg. Coincidence? Most certainly can be.
Since our exchange on climate some time ago I have not actively participated in any of your threads although I am following most of them with great interest and enthusiasm.
I have difficulty swallowing many of the things you say and represent and that is actually a good thing for me.
It seems that "we", "one" (= I) want so much for life to be easy. For it to agree with me. For all the pieces of the puzzle to magically fit themselves into place without there being any work done on my part. The struggle that I find myself in when it comes to many of your posts is truly an opportunity for me to question my own beliefs and zones of comfort. To my perceptions of this world I call my home.
Thanks for the opportunity.
I do agree with you here:
"...Siddhis can be a dangerous affair and impediment to true spiritual progress. There is no such thing as a free lunch..."
Thanks again DK
Renee:
Certain schools of Buddhism view these "extraordinary human abilities" as potential hinderances to final "enlightenment". Even one unattached to attaining "enlightenment" and acquiring the powers of "omnipotence, omnipresence and omniscience" is still at risk of mistaking these acquired "powers" as being the "final goal".
In my years of reading western mystic literature I came across, time and again, warnings against confusing psychic powers with spiritual enlightenment. It seems that there is the physical the psychical and the spiritual realms. The psychical realm is a thinly veiled illusion that some equate with the realm of the "devil".
I don't believe in the "devil" but I do believe in illusions that lead us into ignorance and away from the "spiritual" and I except the idea that psychic powers are a part of that illusion.
As far as drugs are concerned, IF (AND I MAINTAIN A LARGE IF) what your post is doing is trying to rationalize their use in anyway as a path to enlightenment you are a very dangerous lady.
Los Angeles? Must be one of the most difficult places on the planet, next to Las Vegas to find any real rooting in spiritual matters.
I believe there are the many phenomena that arise out of inbalance. I believe they are energy plays. For example, a hurricane is an energy play. I wonder if the more bizarre human experiences are similar plays in the realm of Consciousness, of course, panning out in the material like the example. The 'material' itself is a 'phenomena' I have to reflect.
If I take levitation, I have to see it as the mirror of gravitation. Consciousness is communicating its perfect balance, I'm suggesting.
It seems to me it's the dynamic tension of a perceived separation that zaps phenomena betwixt us, albeit an invitation to, ourselves, to co-create. (meaningfully?) Persisting in our separative notions, we wet-blanket the consuming fire, but never quite, as it breaks through the gaps of our understanding in relative communication. We distract with elaborate creative interpretations of the 'hurricanes' we are observing. I cannot give siddhis greater status than this.
I would dwell, rather, in the 'eye' of the 'storm.'
I would not wish to elaborate further!
God bless,
Ed.

Hi Renee,
thanks for this incredibly fun and well written blog!
So you want to see mine :D:D You know, I haven't had any interest in dissecating these things, I've just let them happen and got on with my journey, but lately I've started to realize that some of these things are wonderful tools that I use in my work, and I want to investigate them further. I work with helping people find their physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing, and so called "powers" like knowing what they feel and think, seeing their contextual situation in time and space, being able to support them energetically on their journey, etc... they are normal human abilities and are crucial for good results.
But what is most important, I feel, is that the solution to the global problems we face today is in these very "Siddhis" that we all have access to if we do our inner work. The solution to the global mess can only come from within, by relaxing and opening up to the great power that flows through all existence and that makes itself more and more known through us. If we see it this way, then the Siddhis will not be dangerous or something to brag about (how absurd is that...how can a blade of grass take credit for the coming spring...) but tools of further evolution we should be grateful for.
There's much more to say... it's a joyful journey we have ahead :)
Dear Renee
That's a great title. Yet the provocative nature of your blog seems out of keeping with experiences which can feel sacred, and should be used for good. The mention of Blaine was surprising; his spirit doesn't feel good to me. I was hoping to find something with depth here. The lighthearted approach of this blog seems so not what these things are about. I'll take my leave, with my sense of unease.
love, Heath
The pursuit if Siddhis leads to suffering.
Whether you want to teleport, have the perfect body, have the perfect child, make the most money, be the sexiest, or whatever, it is better to look at the source of your craving for power than to pursue it for personal gain.
You can't do enough mushrooms or LSD to become "enlightened" and enlightenment doesn't consist of being stoned out and dysfunctional.
Chasing powers is simply a form of greed.
It would be far better to use your meditative focus to roast the seed of the greedy desire.
I haven't used any direct quotes here, but I think both the Buddha and Patanjali would resonate with my viewpoint here.
Sometimes, if someone launches a psychic attack on you, you can use the power of intensely focused awarenss and intention to defray the attack.
But to desire Siddhis for personal gain will only weaken you in the end.
The art of psychic defense rests wholly on the ability to focus attention with pure intent for only the highest good.
Beyond protecting your immediate sphere of consciousness, entities are best dealt with by focusing a lot of good intent on them, and strongly directing them to re-integrate themselves into the Light.
Any kind of negative psychic attack has to find a place in you to latch onto. It has to find a weakness, such as unprocessed anger, fear, envy, or greed to attach itself to. (It appears that the woman DK describes in the above story attempted to exploit a moment when he was in pain and psychically reaching out for healing.)
Therefore the best path is to meditate and process your emotional incompletions for no other purpose than clearing your consciousness of obstacles that prevent a clear view of reality.
Dear yogi-one
Thanks for sharing such good and helpful information.
love, Heath
Keith:
A wise man once told me that to wake up in the morning was to intrude on life.
To be human and to go out into the streets was already to intrude on your neighbor.
So go into the world and intrude with purpose (intention).
I myself did not consider your posting a comment to me as an intrusion. This is why we are all here. To intrude, interact, discover and exchange. Sometimes it looks like conflict, sometimes like collaboration. Since the intention is:
"...to reach critical mass with a message of personal, social, environmental and spiritual wellness. ..."
~IB
in the end all interactions on this site become a part of this intention.
In your post #6 I assume you are pointing out the various literature for purposes of supporting the use of mind altering substances as a way, trigger, catalyst toward opening doors of perception that would ultimately lead to spiritual enlightenment. Sort of a Carlos Castaneda approach. Please correct me if I read your intentions wrongly.
I doubt anyone can answer what and if it was an:
"...agent that first caused an evolved primate to 'wake up', smell the roses and see the beauty of Creation?"
~Keith
I'm of a certain doubt that there was a "moment" in which an "evolved primate" had that specific experience. And if one did "so what"?
Your very cryptic. Again what is your point?
If I read you correctly it seems as if you are exhibiting tendencies I notice people exhibiting lately in an attempt to defend, explain away, excuse, legitimize their drug use.
Dude I'm not a prude. I was doing pure LSD in the seventies and having wonderful psychical experiences. Nothing against drug use and those that choose to use them.
It's just that there is a tendency to mistake psychical, which is still bound to matter with a true spiritual experience. They are worlds apart.
It is ignorance to equate the use of any substances as true spiritual awakening. It is an illusion and NOTHING more.
Yogi: Just at times, you sound Ignorant. You don't have much idea of Siddhis. Generally, it is the Inferiority complex of people when they look and read at the Siddhis. Especially for westerners, it's too hot to handle. Brain in the box!! Keep hitting the walls.
Hi LPB,
I am so glad you are commenting back at IB. I missed you.
When you say:
"Even one unattached to attaining "enlightenment" and acquiring the powers of "omnipotence, omnipresence and omniscience" is still at risk of mistaking these acquired "powers" as being the "final goal"
I agree, any powers we 'practice', including mind techniques, or taking altering substances - have the potential to trap and then limit our ability to live freely and stay in the present moment, which is in my opinion the 'final goal' to achieve.
With love,
~ Kate
Great Post Renee, you know scientists have confirmed that use of the Magic Mushroom results in months of a sense of well being, perhaps becuase it induces Siddhi.Professor Roland Griffiths, from Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, led the study.
Let me think what I can share..
Blaine is simply creating an illusion. We should all learn to see through them. Hmm something of depth. If were not for life expereince the soul would have no depth.
Chelsea Hotel which is as Mysterious as Life Itself and in fact many who have stayed there have shaped all of your lives, the list is amazing everything from the Manhattan project to 2001 Space Odyssey was formed here. I am not the only one that noticed the heat pipes breathe like a living thing at night.
It is a Mystic Spot, and a bastion of Synchronicity, a short stay there and many are gifted with capability not common to this world very much like siddhis.
I knew nothing of the Hotel or it’s past it was chosen or suggested as a place for me to stay, mostly because it had a high speed internet connection.
So I think that in the Chelsea Hotel we find it has its own essence, the collective living essence of some very remarkable individuals who have had a great influence on our reality. We find a place, a portal, where the Illusion of a gap between the material and spiritual ceases to exist. A place where one can step outside of time and space into the eternal and all it's creative wealth. In this place time and space seem to be warped.
So I get to the Hotel, not quite like what I am used to, but loaded with character and a strange mystical air. I wait for the guy to bring a wireless router to my room so I can connect to the Internet. He shows up we get it working. I decide to go out and explore the area SOHO district Manhattan's most famous Art District.
I am on the 5th floor I go to the elevator. I get on and there is an old women standing there looking perturbed at the world. She looks like an old gypsy women or one of those psychic fortune telling ladies. She sort of grunts or does a groan does not look happy. I try to force a little smile but do not say anything. I assume she is a live in resident.
So I reach down and push the Lobby button, I notice that no other buttons are pushed, I figured she is probably going to the lobby. Usually I would ask, the person the floor they were going, but for some reason I didn't.
The elevator starts to go down, so were going down and the elevator stops, the door opens, I am expecting to see the lobby, instead I see a number 5 on the wall, I am still on the floor I started on. So I think that's really odd, and I kind of brush it off. Kind of like I went in circle. So I push the Lobby button again and we start going down again.
What is weird is I did not have the thought that the lady was no longer there at the time, but now that I think about it I do not remember her being there, it was as if I got off alone.
So later I am thinking about this, and it is really bizarre when you think about it, how could that have happened? What is funny is how easily I brushed it off at the time.
That was not the only weird thing as far as going in circles. Later that evening I decide to check out the Art. There are these steps going up the back of the hotel, it is one thing that makes the hotel unique. They are somewhat open and the walls are covered in Art. So I go up a few floors and I am coming down. I see a young oriental / Asian girl waiting to get on the elevator, I keep going down the next flight of stairs, to the next floor, and there is a girl that looks exactly the same waiting to get on the elevator. So I though she must have gotten off on the wrong floor, the one below, so I kept going. Then I thought that would not be impossible, she could not have had time it was only 10 or 15 seconds (it takes that long for the door to close) between my first and second sighting a single flight of stairs. It was as if I passed her twice. Or did I walk down the same flight of stairs twice?
There were a few other things, including the faces on the walls (which I did catch on video) and as if someone was waiting for me to find the garden.. To be continued, if you are interested. Then there was Mr. Urgo Diamu the mysterious person I met.
I had reached the top of the stairs which ended at a door which led to what would technically be the 13th level. As some of us know everything ends in thirteen. I had seen the faces appear and captured them on video so I know they were not a hallucination. Well I noticed that the door which had the “ Do not open alarm will sound” signs etc. had a piece of paper stuck in it jamming it open. I saw this as an invitation to explore. I opened it and proceeded into the supernatural garden…
All during this time I was having visions when laying down sleeping like I have never had them before, there would be this brush and it would paint pictures in my mind sometimes like oil paintings and sometimes real imagery.
Yes I do have it all on video and it is going to be part of Infinite Play the Movie, perhaps I will put it up on the Website today.
The story of Mr. Urgo Diamu is an interesting one indeed. He knew about something I had found on The Island of Women (Isla Mujeres). Most interesting is that this character blogs occasionally the most esoteric and cryptic stuff.
the story unfolds... if you are reading this you are in it!
thank you to all who responded-
Especially to those who exhibit love for a SENSE OF HUMOR!
Apparently, some of you cannot handle
"EXTRASENSORY humor"???!!
DK- u continue to fascinate me- what a lesson for you to have met and interacted in that scene in the divine's cosmic play!
I'm just so amused to have someone call me "dangerous"...
and "insult" my city...
can u feel the agape?
(don't get all defensive now)
anyhoo-
There are numerous ways to open the doors of perception-
yes Keith, i am a fan of Huxley, Wasson, and other present day researchers like Rick Strassman, Charles Grob, Charles Tart, etc...
and i support research!
I am very interested in psi phenom and consciousness, no matter what the trigger-
I was just curious what this learned group of bloggers had experienced in their personal lives and were willing to share.
ANd I thank you again-
whether your responce was positive or negative-
i view negativity as oportunities in disguise :0)
So, lighten up guys...
That's why it is called "levity"....
and I thought "blaine' was funny-
Must dash off for now ...
more later!
When I met Urgo I was left little shaken but and intrigued. It was like who is this guy? I had already had a few odd experiences at the Hotel. It was full of “James Redfield Celestine Prophecy moments” and impossibility.
I was in New York to stream a live event over the Internet from a barge actually the Light House Frying Pan (great place to eat and chat). It was an event promoting the U.S Department of Peace and Marianne Williamson was going to be speaking so the thought was to make it available online to those that could not come. I think it was one of the first events streamed live over the Internet to the planet, this was in 2004.
It was enough that I was flying in on 9-11, actually It felt kind of cool in defiance of the fear of flying on such a date, but there was no fear in the plane there was more like a feeling of awe, like a new birth, a phoenix rising from the ashes. Oh well maybe that was just my feeling.
So anyway after arriving at the Chelsea Hotel, I was in the hall looking at the art and all of sudden this guy is standing there. He says “Interesting Art". I said "Yes it is". “There is a reason for it” he said. I thought I guess it does.
"I am Urgo”. He said extending his hand, “Richard” I replied. He said "Do you know where you are?" I replied “The Chelsea Hotel on the 5th floor.” He said "Yep, you remember being here before” I replied "No not really". He said “Maybe it wasn't you then.” I am thinking this guy might be a little off his rocker, then again I always meet these people that swear they had just met me or saw me before, I think I have a double.
"You have a Sony" I said “yep.” (He referred to the DV camera I was holding) I buy Sony too. “Okay” I said.
He said “You get what you pay for, you buy cheap stuff and it breaks and you by more, and eventually you pay the same as would have for the quality stuff.” I said “Yeah that’s true so why do they make cheap stuff?” He said “Because the consumer looks for the cheapest price” I said “What they really need to do is print their profit margin and material cost on their product and a company efficiency rating, then I could make a proper choice as a consumer.” I said “have you ever been to the bad business bureau it is all about cheap products and bad service.” “Never heard of it he said.” I thought this guy must not get around. He then went on “I have heard of the Better Business Bureau, you pay money, and get a logo, what good is that, they don’t check on anything, it doesn’t prove anything, and they just create an illusion and sell it to you.” “Yeah I suppose, I don’t really know.”
“People create illusions and then sell them to the unwary” he said. “I guess they do” I replied.
He said. “Do you know about the number 9 and the penny? I said “yes” I wrote about that online before.” I thought to myself I must not have a monopoly on these insights. [Number 9 comes from the Beatles song "Revolution 9" and the realization that ending prices in .99 is an open deceptive psychological manipulation that everyone falls for (mesmerized by Illusion), would you buy from a deceptive retailer?].
Then he says "How about that cup"? I said yeah I knew I shouldn't put it so close to the edge, but I did anyway."
[Why do we do that? Why do we ignore that little voice of awareness]. It then fell off and spilled when I brushed against it because I ignored the little voice of awareness.
He then handed me his card. And said “every thing happens for a reason, there are no accidents”. I said “I know I think the same way”.
I looked at the card and it had a single email address typewritten on an old typewriter. I said well I'm going up the next floor. He said "have a good one" I said okay feeling a little uncomfortable wondering if this person was a little skewed or was it just me?
I went up the stairs peeked back down expecting him to not be there. He grinned at me still tweaking his chin looking at the art on the wall.
I continued up several floors. Then it hit me all what had transpired, how did he know that I spilled my cup? Later on the return trip when I was assessing the events of the last few days I realized that wasn’t the cup (in my room) he was referring to. Perhaps it was a cup that no one on the planet could have known about. I was miles from anywhere where on an island I had only met a handful of people that day and had told no one. Or could he have some how heard the cup fall? Probably not the walls at the Chelsea are sound proof creating the ultimate privacy. What cup was he speaking of?
It is odd I don’t remember exactly what he looked like but I remember his all knowing wise grin and his eyes, they smiled that is the best I can describe them. I probably would not know him if I met him again but it is like a mix between Gene Hackman and Sean Connery is superimposed on my memory.
Well later I emailed him a dozen times. No response. I wondered if he was really real now or just a figment, I couldn’t find a trace of him on the video I must have turned it off. I was working on another project setting up blogging site for people of note; and on a notion, I sent him a login with instructions. He actually posted on the blog I created for him, I was amazed, he was real.
End of story. Not quite later I figured it out based on some of his blog posts; he had been reading what I wrote online in the past decade. How did he know who I was? How was it that he happened to be at the hotel? And the story continued as even more mystery and intrigue ......
To seek these Siddhis is not how they are obtained. The very nature of that which would seek to have them for power is the very reason that they would be deprived of them.
The Siddhis would come naturally as one destroys the degrees of the illusion and of separation. Yet there is a price to pay in the destruction of the final layer of illusion. Being omnipotent etc. is really quite boring hence the illusion of Maya and a true art to stand with one foot on each side, to be both the (1)One and (2)the Many, and (3)one of the many, a bit of a triad of sorts.
So to seek truth, not power would be the way. At the point where one saw all as Self then with such power you would hold sway, and your control over illusion, yet by achieving this STATE OF BEING, one would be of the nature not to bring harm or deprive one's self in any of one's multitude of points of present from which one views.
In other words your intention would always be to create a good experience for your selves.
Falling asleep again AM I?
"if someone launches a psychic attack on you"
Then you are subscribing to an Illusion in your own mind. Perhaps we also might wonder what you did to attract such a thing?
There is only you and no other, but not the you, that that "thinks what you are" (of these there are many), it is the you, that thinks I AM that there is only one.
I might have to read that last bit several times to get it.
At least those are the thoughts that come to mind since it is all in your “head” and the challenge in the game is to keep your head.

Good seeing you post brother!
Peace
Here's a story in the form of a surreal poem.
Tantric Visions Near Death
Something explodes in his head
and then he's peaceful, though
fireworks in silence slowly
flow in his blood opening up
an unexpected spring when in
his heart the poison-arrows sting.
They come to him momentarily flying
in iridescence before his eyes,
smelling of spice and sex they dance
in inspiration, revealing divine revelations.
And he has visions of green trees
and heavenly beautiful women's knees
and hears poems such as these
in beautiful transfigurations.
It feels as if they are far,
very far but they're very near,
close to his bed in the iridescence light,
shining over his head as if in eternity.
His soul splits into two each with
its own true individuality ,and the half
souls speak to each other in clear irrationality
of centuries of old things, of landscapes,
of rooms full of whores waiting for clients.
Their slender bodies, fat bodies, white skin,
black skin, brown skin, yellow skin,
in skin and colors of all nationalities!
No such a parallel sight anywhere in beauty!
The souls tell stories that contradict as to
the electronic road maps, bugs and viruses and personal
impersonal sexual snoopy multifunctional histories
and many other mind boggling soulful stories.
What are all these bizarre but so fascinating happenings?, he asks himself.
Then suddenly dark humongous clouds rise in the west and move to the east
passing over schools, universities, churches, temples, court houses,
farms, fields, ranches, horses, dogs, cats, cows and whore houses.
It looks like the dreams' escapes of the valiant fighting
battles in dreamless nights, connected with each other
with wires of miles-long connections as if to eternity, and in
between coffee pots with brewing aroma of Colombian coffee.
And not to forget the beautiful ladies in silky dresses,
some showing legs, some their behinds, some their fronts,
some with small avocado like breasts, some with huge, like melons,
mostly beautiful, not wrinkled, not foul smelling with rotten teeth.
He loves all what he sees, hears, smells, touches and feels,
especially the fireworks in rooms full of dead things like a
piano in the corner and shadows of things on windows --
perhaps angels, messengers, souls or ghosts in disguise.
There too he sees pigeons carrying letters in beaks
to the loved ones left behind, telling them what to do
with lonely cats and dogs searching for them day and night
and mourning, not getting their love and pats on their backs.
He does not die. His time had not arrived. He opens his eyes
and starts conversing with everyone standing beside his bedside,
all in silence to know how wonderful was the other side --
the peaceful heaven of God where he with his son resides.
Everyone listens to him, silently, patiently and everyone
has his or her reaction to his story. His lady friend
from the south says what a beautiful lyrical poetry.
His new yorker friend jumps in the air hearing his story.
And many other people celebrate his rebirth in joyous glory.
But his dear guru friend says that proves there's life after death,
writes another book and advises all to get training in awareness
willingness, intention, discrimination and acceptance in next life.

LPB, You are one of the old timer's here, I believe.
Nice to meet you! Everyone seems glad to have you back
so it's a good day for you. Me2, fine day here, 62 degrees.
Switzerland sounds like a wonderful place.
Very interesting work you do, it seems to me.
Earlier today when I posted I think I stayed with the topic.

Religious, spiritual and far-out experiences
just happen to sound a lot alike when people
put their best moments of life into words.
To say that it doesn't really 'work' for those
who have said experiences, well...it is not my place to judge.
I have no need whatsoever to justify my own actions
from the past because I don't live there anymore.

You seem to be well versed with the Eastern Spiritual wisdom Renee! Good to know! Siddhis done well are a way to enter into higher realms.

Dear Renee,
Many, many wise men and women have told us over and over
throughout The Ages not to take our little selves too seriously.
Nowadays, everything is taken personally and people
generally have a difficult time laughing at the
one who sees them back in the mirror.
Terror, terror everywhere! If folks would recognize
the war going on between their two brains they
wouldn't have time for such nonsense as we see in Iraq.
Shall we say a multitude of soldiers coming home need therapy?
Can we prove that we have and use all the techniques,
materials and knowledge that is available to us to help them?
No, we cannot.
We cannot say that science is all they need.
We cannot say they need to get religion or which one works best.
We cannot say for sure what color of pills might
bring them relief without creating an addiction.
We cannot say their problem stems from a troubled
relationship with family members.
We cannot assume that what we tell them today will
be what we tell them tomorrow.
So here are some of the options to choose from
(in no particular preferential order):
1. Sex
2. Drugs
3. Rock~N~Roll
4. (I forget the rest. Pardon my omissions.)

Hi Renee,
Years ago, I was vacationing down in Bali. I had rented a motorbike and was exploring the island with some local people. Not being very good on a bike I went around a corner to fast and dumped it on the pavement with my left hand getting smashed under the handlebar. My hand swelled up to twice its size and it hurt like hell. Back in the clinic of my hotel, they said it was broken and I needed to go to the hospital. Hating hospitals, I decided to seek alternative help. I went down on the beach where some Balinese girls were giving massage. I asked if anyone knew someone who could help heal my hand. One young boy came up, and said his grandfather was a healer and he could help me.
I rode with him on his motorbike to their house out in the rice fields, and waiting for him to come in from the fields where he was working. A while later a very old man came out of the field, and after hearing about my problem, he told the boy to tell me to pray and make an offering at the family shrine in the middle of their yard. I took all the money in my pocket, said a prayer, and placed on the shrine. The old man then had me sit down, and he opened a jar of some very foul smelling stuff and began massaging it into my hand. It was quite painful. After about 45 min., he got up, said something in Balinese to the boy, and went into the house.
I asked what he said and the boy said “ he says you will be dancing by tomorrow ”, I went back to my hotel and went right to sleep, when I woke up the next morning my hand was completely back to normal and never gave me any more trouble.
This is one of many such experiences I have had with the unexplainable.
Kind Regards,
Stan

Kate:
Thanks for the warmth.
Renee:
Didn't actually insult "your" city. I find Los Angeles to be the most difficult place I have ever lived when it comes to finding genuine people.
Nothing personal toward you. Just "my" experience.
It might be working on those "hit" sitcoms like "Spin City" that gave me a bad after taste.
(Yea LA taught me how to:
1. Lie about my age and
2. Name drop. Actually a few more things but those 2 are already to much for one life time.)
Also concerning your being dangerous? Notice my qualifier. It's a big IF. So IFEN the shoe fits.....
See Renee I don't know you from a whole in the wall. So most of what I write is really, from me, to me. It's a reminder of where I've come from and where I need to keep heading in my walk and your post is like a guide so thanks.
Everyone has there own path and no two paths will ever be the same.
Peace out girl and you have a great day. You crazy.
Hey Craig:
Always good to see your here with us. Did you ever check out my buddy in Coeur d'Alene?
Hey Keith:
Thanks for the information. I really didn't recognize any of the names you mentioned. Now I will have to seriously look into them.
My dad and John C. Lilly spent many hours late into the night up in Big Sur discussing these very issues and many of their conversations were passed onto me.
I also loved "Center of the Cyclone".
I do hear where you are coming from when you state that:
"To say that it doesn't really 'work' for those
who have said experiences..."
~Keith
Not attempting to seem like I'm too anal retentive (although I am) but it is important to my own integrity that I reiterate for the record that as long as the concept of "it" really "working" refers to mind altering substances opening doors to higher spiritual realms I contend that it is a very dangerous position to take. With that said one must find that out for oneself.
So in the long run if it takes one running into a brick wall 100 times to get the idea that running into a brick wall only brings you to a startling stop, then I guess one needs to run into a brick wall one hundred times. Maybe when one finally stops running into the wall of ones own accord one will see the door knob attached to the door in the wall.
62 degrees? Damn. Where do you live? Where ever it is at 62 degrees this time of year it also sounds like a nice place.
And I'm not sure there was a misunderstanding and if there was it was probably on my part. Keep rockin'.

Dude.
A wise man once told me, "If you can remember the 60's? you weren't there."
Keep rockin' boy.
LPB,
With all due respect seein's you are an Elder...
I dropped somebody's name, a person who was famous for dropping something else. It dropped in your lap
and I happen to think you caught it quite well. Good job!
I never for a minute thought I'd ever run into someone
who actually knew somebody I was talking about
from way back when, I don't exactly recall exactly when.
Small world, yes. I know you much better now and
we hope you're back to hang for awhile. Cryptic Keith, The Obscure from Corn County
Rennee,
While always a possibility, the probability that we might meet on the Playa has increased...
Like LPB I wouldn't recommend LSD to anyone, not that anyone was, but if one really wanted to explore using such a thing, they might rather try the magic mushroom which is much safer and more natural, but better that you might direct your attention to that third eye which should suffice to further one's endeavor.
Hilarious post, especially the tongue-in-cheek sexual innuendos!...LOL
Siddhis ("occult powers) that you mention in your post are a natural development in our spiritual growth and some yogis have pursued them on their own merit. They are often mentioned in conjunction with riddhis (material wealth or power).
The idealist and devotional Indian tradition encourages the seeker to avoid focusing on them, since they are a natural occurrence and may become an impediment on the spiritual path, since they can expand ego.
I find it interesting that in Eastern traditions relinquishing ego can be a important goal of spiritual life. In contrast, the West encourages the development a strong ego as important part of psychological health. There's probably wisdom in both paths as long as moderation is exercised.
"The verses continue, saying that the use of certain herbs it is possible for a partial or full Awakening can be achieved." --- renee
Recently in my Psych class we were debating about the two views of consciousness - dualism and materialism.. In materialism they don't believe that consciousness is something different from the body, they think its a part of it, hence they don't believe in "soul". Infact one of the arguments of materialism was that how eating or drinking different substances cause a different state of consciousness based on the changes caused in the body... hence consciousness is a part of us being alive (our body, our brain), when we die consciousness dies.
Don't you think then it is weird how different substances can cause an awakening?( I have heard stories of some tribes in africa using herbs for out of body experience too)..But perhaps that awakening is just some chemical changes in the brain that causes hallucinations? How can that awakening be a part of something bigger then?
Arizona Gov. Admits Seeing Phoenix Lights
Ten years after the Arizona UFO incident known as the Phoenix Lights, former Arizona Republican Governor Fife Symington III, has told journalist Leslie Kean that he himself was a witness to one of the strange unidentified flying objects, even though he originally did not say so publicly. "It was enormous and inexplicable," he said in an exclusive interview from his home in Phoenix. "Who knows where it came from? A lot of people saw it, and I saw it too." Even though he had seen the gigantic triangular object that passed over the area hours before the Phoenix lights themselves appeared, Symington nevertheless held a press conference ridiculing the event. He now says that he did this because of building hysteria.

Nimita,
Don't you think it's weird that mushrooms came to be
called 'toad-stools' just so people wouldn't smart up?
Did the mushroom evolve into a psychedelic producing
substance or did God make some that way from the beginning?
That's a little 'b' in the little beginning.
Anyway...good questions! Stick around, please!
Hello/Good-bye, Keith~
Dear Renee,
Due to the practice of meditation,
I am able to float in the sky.
Of course not my body but me)
Here we feel weightless
and there whole sky is yours.
I just float aimlessly.
I am sky and sky is me.
I am able to become one with my breath.
Here i feel like like huge air chamber,
where the air enters and
comes out automatically.
There is only air chamber and
nothing else.
I have to accomplish lot and lot
in this field.
Following you on Intentblog would
help me a lot in attaining it.
Lots of Love

Hi Renee,
What is want to learn is,
How not to have physical pain or mental agony,
with help of meditation or siddhi?
Lots of Love
Rajesh Sharma
Rajesh, I can see you are floating aimlessly! LOL! This universe is like a huge air chamber, where we all are breathing. correct? So, when you're breathing in the same chamber, it is like all breathing in it, cause we all are one and one is all. am I clear? LOL! So, the one in you is breathing, not the two or three. ok? Breathing in is like big bang and breathing out, like the collapse of the lungs is like big crunch. So, now you see how breathing is related to the Universe. Try to think like this with your imagination, while you float in the sky routinely in your morning meditations. Try to play with any number, four five three six seven. Please don't smoke those drugs though to get that floating experience:-)

Hi Renee,
What is want to learn is,
Dear Renee
A few years ago in Zurich, Switzerland, we met a beautiful lady involved in software systems for major banks at a "Sechseleuten" party, which celebrates the coming of spring and the melting of snow by burning a Bjoerg or Giant Snow Man.
This lady ended up becoming a friendly acquaintance, until one day at Zurich railway station, I tripped and twisted my ankle quite badly. This lady came to find out about it because we were due to meet her and she had to pay us a visit where we were staying rather than at the previously arranged place.
When she saw my swollen ankle, she said that she had this balm and somehow the pain would go away very quickly and she asked my wife, Surinda, to come with her to her flat to pick up the same.
When Surinda returned an hour later, whilst I was still unable to move much, she had the balm and two small gifts of match boxes arranged in a matrix of four each. Each matrix of four match boxes had different images pasted on it rather elegantly. One image was of a Lotus flower and another of an Oriental God or Goddess. The cabinets made up of the match holders had crystals sewn on and as one opened the four cabinets, sure enough, there were loads of matches.
At any rate, a few months went by and we met this lady again in Zurich for dinner. She came again with some more gifts and more matches. Earlier in the afternoon, she had taken Surinda away for tea.
Now, upon receiving the gift of another 8 match boxes in a matrix of 4, we got rather disturbed. We said to the lady, look, we don't smoke and we don't need more matches, much as we like you.
She wouldn't listen and so we had to be firm. At this point her face metamorphosed and it became two faces. One her original face and another a blue hallucination which had flames coming out of it, that looked rather angry with me. So I was rather scared.
We tried to conclude the dialogue amicably, bid her goodbye by taking her to her car, as courtesy demands. Now, the blue image of a snarling face, next to her real face, was still there all along. Getting angrier and angrier!
As we parted company, the angry blue face decided to come with us and left her. It had half a blue translucent body as well.
Angry Blue came back to our room and at this point, I was very scared and I said to my wife, are you seeing anything, are you feeling anything. She said no! I said, look we will talk later.
So, I started praying as one does for regular meditation and sat in meditation. At this point the snarling face receded out of our precinct and I bolted the door!
Looking through the magic eye of the main door, the blue face was still there: snarling angrily! What a day!
So, Surinda says to me, "What's up, you look like you saw a ghost!" I said, "Yes, something like that."
I asked again, "Did you see anything?" She said no. I explained the entire situation to her and Surinda said, "Are you taking something for your jet lag?" I said, "NO!"
Now I said, "Tell me what this lady told you when you had gone for tea together in the afternoon. Did she give you anything, did she place anything in your bag?"
Surinda said that the lady had said that she was under pressure to win more business and had found out a way to achieve this. She would give gifts to senior managers with images on them and then she would summon spirits by uttering the words of "Shakti" or "Energy".
When the Energy was summoned, she would then be able to dictate terms to a senior manager at a distance and he or she would invariably sign the contract the next day. We figured the identification of the individual was via the images on the matchboxes she had gifted.
Upon further investigation, we found cardamom seeds in Surinda's handbag which had been placed by the lady so that the voodoo, black magic or indeed Siddhi may not work on her but only on me.
When we returned, we burnt the matchboxes she had gifted to us and the flames rose a fair bit higher than expected. Three feet at one point!
This is why the Great Spiritual Masters have always said that Siddhis can be a dangerous affair and impediment to true spiritual progress. There is no such thing as a free lunch and we summon a spirit to do something the spirit may end up doing something else as well.
The health of the lady in Zurich deteriorated considerably and she was divorced from her husband etc as she went deeper and deeper into Siddhis, we were informed.
We never had such a bizarre experience in our lives and we pray to God that we don't have another one again. If someone gives you free matches, candles or incense as gifts, think twice before taking them. They may be momentos to set free roaming spirits on you!
With love
