The new definition of Self Centered

As I have started to spread the word about the coolest new movement to hit the spirituality scene, well....ever, some people have had a knee jerk reaction to the name - Self Centered Tour.

Why would you want to be more self centered they say? Between the pretentious celebrities, the insatiable corporate business moguls, and the rigid political activists, many would argue that there are far too many people out there like that already.

But you've got it all wrong. You are thinking about it from an old school perspective and I believe you are ready to get with the times. So let me enlighten you to the new definition:

Self Centered (old): someone who is egocentrically engrossed in one’s own BS (belief systems, of course).

Common attributes: unfortunately bitchy, redundantly snobby, incredibly annoying, extraordinarily selfish, and perpetually frustrating to anyone (and everyone) in their general vicinity.

Self Centered (new): someone who is completely grounded and secure in one’s own awareness and ready to take on the world.

Common attributes: irresistibly attractive, tastefully confident, overflowing with creativity, magnetically passionate, genuinely caring, unexplainably inspiring, refreshingly open minded, and curiously explorative.

Hi Max, this is indeed a fun play on words, and as words are incredibly powerful... I think this new and exciting movement would be even more... irresistibly attractive if it would acknowledge that nobody ever gets it wrong :) In fact, we all get it right all the time! It is important to be self-centered. It is just that our definition of the self is changing. Everyone is right to be self-centered as well as they can, and these new exciting times are opening our eyes to a brand new Self to be centered in, lol...

What I'm trying to say is that we don't need to make the old wrong so that the new can be right :) Let everyone feel as faultless as they actually are and be inspired to join. At least, this is my take on it.

Dear Max

Why not "centered", which already means all the things under your new definition? It creates less confusion. It's also more lyrical-sounding (no fuzzy "F" sound). And, as its best quality, it's mysterious because it's open to interpretation. It engages, it can reach a wider audience.

Max, this is not mere play with words, it is for real and has solid science behind it.

According to my book Self-Designed Universe, all systems pass through four basic interactions of physics as they evolve.

This gives four distinct phases to their lives.

In our case these four phases are: childhood, youth, middle age and old age.

Thanks to those four interactions we are senses-centered in our childhood, id/emotions-centered in our youth, ego/intellect-centered in our middle age and superego/intuition/wisdom centered in our old age. This depends upon the mechanisms of those interactions.

As we, so all systems, including the system of our global culture as a whole. It is now entering its fourth interaction phase and that means where it will be superego/intuition/wisdom-centered. In the previous, the Age of Reason it was ego/intellect-centered.

So it is because of the above that the idea of new type of Self-Centeredness has come to your mind. It is very much in with the times and so will doubtlessly succeed.
