Alberti's famous statement on Art, Architecture, Beauty and Perfection...

"...as the harmonious relationship between the parts and the whole such that nothing could be added, subtracted, or altered but for the worse...”
...is a deep statement about Holism, Life and Culture -- the Union of Spirituality, Art and Science -- and resultant visible and invisible architecture. The crux of the Alberti distillation has been resonating without and within us throughout the Holistic Quantum Relativity (HQR) Socratic Dialogue as well as its Renaissance (HQR*).
Alberti is the well known Italian architect, humanist, antiquarian, mathematician, art theorist, "universal man" of the Early Renaissance. Alberti has been called the prophet of the "new, grand style" in Art's Renaissance, and Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) its inaugurator. His influential treatise Della pittura (On Painting) was the first modern manual for painters. It was circulated in manuscript until 1540, when it was first printed.
Alberti regarded mathematics as the common ground of art and the sciences. "To make clear my exposition in writing this brief commentary on painting," Alberti began his treatise, Della pittura, "I will take first from the mathematicians those things with which my subject is concerned."
In both Della pittura and De statua, a short treatise on sculpture, Alberti stressed that "all steps of learning should be sought from nature." The ultimate aim of an artist is to imitate nature. Painters and sculptors strive "though by different skills, at the same goal, namely that as nearly as possible the work they have undertaken shall appear to the observer to be similar to the real objects of nature."
However, Alberti did not mean that artists should imitate nature objectively, as it is, but the artist should be especially attentive to beauty, "for in painting beauty is as pleasing as it is necessary." The work of art is, according to Alberti, so constructed that it is impossible to take anything away from it or add anything to it, without impairing the beauty of the whole.
Beauty was for Alberti "the harmony of all parts in relation to one another," and subsequently "this concord is realized in a particular number, proportion, and arrangement demanded by harmony." Alberti's thoughts on harmony were not new — they could be traced back to Pythagoras, who we have discussed at the onset of the Holistic Quantum Relativity Socratic Dialogue — but he set them in a fresh context, which fit in well with the contemporary aesthetic discourse.
What are your views in regard to Alberti's statement on Art, Architecture, Beauty and Perfection in the context of Holistic Quantum Relativity? Do you also feel a resonance?

I re-read DK post as I am having a hard time seeing numbers in art. But I think Alberti must be talking about the balance of something in comparison to the real object, which is a kind of math, not that there are literally numbers present in the art. So that would be harmony. If there are numbers in art, I cannot see it. I do think Nature is perfectly balanced and strictly mathematically correct and ordered, but to duplicate it in artwork I think is the challenge when one cannot see the math. Plus, in Nature math is alive and moves, to where in art one has to catch it on canvas or in stone or whatever form one attempts to duplicate Nature. Math in Nature has many forms depending on who deep one goes into Creation, so I guess one would have to pick a form and create it. Michelangelo apparently was able to do this, as he could see a statue within a block of stone. So maybe it is more about seeing a vision and then creating it. My middle sister always talked about how important it was to get the light and shadows correct with color and we just blankly looked at here, i.e., like she can see that, so we said to ourself when we were younger. Years later, now I can see what she was talking about.

Okay, I can see that I completely misunderstood this quote. :-)

Well, I did a quick search on Leonardo da Vinci and his Vitruvian Man was interesting. I know ... everyone else knows all this stuff, but it's new to me. So I can see what Alberti is saying about portions. Here's the picture:

Anyway, the circle seems to be dear to all religions and I think most religions have it as DK also shows in some of his pictures on the HQR posts. According to what I read above, the circle represents spirit. I still don't understand that part. But I do think that the circle might be the beginning of creation and within the circle, is everything, as everything operates within a circle and then forms into matter from light. And prior to the basic light pattern, (i.e., the geometric pattern Star of David), there are more circles connecting to each other to form this pattern and so on I would assume, which are alive and in constant motion. And since all of creation is really a different combinations of light and maybe circles on the surface, then mathematically everything is a circle first and complete in and of itself before it forms into matter. Just some of my thoughts. But then I ask myself why does computer language have 1s, as well as 0s? So that one I don't know as I am not a computer programmer. Maybe 1 represents the Word??? Who knows and my brain is now dead asleep.

Dear DK,
"...as the harmonious relationship between the parts and the whole such that nothing could be added, subtracted, or altered but for the worse...”
If only that could become the operating principle behind all commercial endeavors.
I think we should print wisdom on money, at least paper currency, re-minders.
As I watch the recent advancements and discoveries coming daily at a pace hard to digest, I think science is approaching the door of revelation where they will meet that vast all pervading intelligence perhaps in a tunneling electron microscope, not that it wasn’t apparent just looking at the sky and nature around us.
In reality it has been looking back at us the whole time, still yet the climax will be when first their eyes meet and the realize they are looking onto a mirror.
While the aesthetics and symmetry of Fibonacci spiral patterns found in nature has often attracted scientists, a mathematical or physical explanation for their common occurrence in nature is yet to be discovered.
Currently there is work being done in this regard. Chaorong Li, of the Zhejiang Sci-Tech University and the Institute of Physics in Beijing, along with Ailing Ji and Zexian Cao, both of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
What I would note is that they keep coming to a road block, pure cause and effect mechanics alone cannot produce what we witness. Also let us be reminded in these experiments there is intelligence involved on producing the effect “The Scientists” it doesn’t just happen. Also let us be reminded when we are doing computer modeling there was an intelligence that created the modeling application and created the rules.
Some of their thoughts..
“spontaneous assembly of Fibonacci patterns has rarely been realized in the laboratory”
“Patterns that evolve naturally are generally an optimized configuration for an assembly of elements under an interaction”
“The least energy configuration for particles is dependent on the geometry of the space in which the particles are confined—just look at the thorn bundles of various cacti,” Cao explained.
Note: For plants, Cao’s conjecture is supported even in very old literature, although scientists have yet to discover a mathematical proof.
“There is no general method to find the least energy configuration for a given confining geometry, and the numerical solution costs enormous time of both the computers and the scientists.
My Note: Then how do molecules manage to do it?
___REVELATION___
Wouldn’t they the molecules need to know the architects finished design? Just like the brick layer looks at the blueprints? Since we do not see the blueprints lying around must not the architect and the bricklayer be both One and the same?
___End of Revelation___
In response to this type of problem.. David Hilbert once said, ‘Physics is too difficult for physicists.’ In my opinion, a proof of problems of this kind needs new mathematics.”
My Note: Or perhaps an innate incomprehensible intelligence.
Okay, I was reading about Leonardo da Vinci and found this book mark interesting, as it is a cube that he made.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhombicuboctahedron
I saw something like this in in white light form (lines only) that surrounds the earth with something that could be a star looking cube inside (which is harder to see, as I only saw one line, but I was not looking for lines really, but what I saw on the line reach down and touching the earth and possible going thru the earth to the other side of the earth to connect to the light grid). I am not sure of the exact shape, but it was a geometric light pattern which is connected and forms a circle somehow as the straight lines appeared to curve to form the circle around the earth. And the earth is very small and in the center of the circle, as the cube was very far away from my vantage point on the earth. I've heard that some call it the earth's grid.
Oh well, just thought I would mention this, even though it sounds odd, but Leonardo da Vinci must have seen it too...I guess???
Time to go home! Yeah!

Intelligent Molecular Rendezvous Caught on Camera
Scientists watch on the atomic level how individual molecules recognize each other.
The body is a virtually perfect machine. For it to function properly, each individual component, that is each molecule, must reliably fulfill its specific function. Each molecule must thus "recognize" other molecules and work with them. A team of researchers from the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart, the Fraunhofer Institute in Freiburg, and King's College in London, has now successfully filmed pairs of molecules during the recognition process. As reported to the journal Angewandte Chemie, the shapes of the molecules change to accommodate each other.
Like humans, molecules also "greet" each other with a kind of "handshake". Anyone who has tried to shake someone's right hand with his or her own left will have had a little trouble: the right and left hands do not fit together. In the same way, some molecules that exist in both a right-handed (D) and left-handed (L) configuration can tell if others they encounter are the D or L form.
Magali Lingenfelder and colleagues at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research have now been able to use scanning tunneling microscopy to take a series of pictures that follow in detail the "encounters" of diphenylalanine molecules adsorbed onto a substrate. (Diphenylalanine is the central structural unit within polypeptide fibers found in the brains of Alzheimer's patients.) The "film sequences" reveal that only molecules with the same chirality (handedness) readily aggregate into pairs and chains.
Just as in a handshake, it is not enough that the right hands hold each other. To grip each other firmly, the two hands must adapt to fit their shapes together. Molecules do the same: close examination of the "film", in conjunction with theoretical calculations by researchers from King's College, prove that this type of dynamic accommodation of shape also occurs when two molecules "shake hands".
__Attention to This__
"Our work finally demonstrates that Linus Pauling was right with his theory of intermolecular conformation of over 50 years ago," says Lingenfelder. "In molecular recognition, it is not so much the static forms that are important, but rather how well the molecules can conform to each other."
__Suggestion__
Perhaps it IS TIME we should take into account what Linus Pauling in his brilliance, was trying to tell us about Vitamin C and also orthomolecular medicine.
As we accelerate towards the convergence...
In a recent study, mathematician George Sparling of the University of Pittsburgh examines a fundamental question pondered since the time of Pythagoras, and still vexing scientists today: what is the nature of space and time? After analyzing different perspectives, Sparling offers an alternative idea: space-time may have six dimensions, with the extra two being time-like.
Sparling’s spinorial theory is based on Einstein’s general relativity and Elie Cartan’s triality concept, which can link space-time with two twistor spaces. Twistor spaces are mathematical spaces used to understand geometrical objects in space-time landscapes.
My Note: Sparling’s is like me and does not buy into string theory as a whole.
My Note: he speaks of something similar to what Avtar was speaking to regarding a single minus sign.
“In three dimensions, the formula reads s2 = x2 + y2 + z2,” Sparling explained to PhysOrg.com. “Our standard spacetime has four dimensions, but the formula has a critical minus sign: s2 = x2 + y2 + z2 - t2. The Lithuanian Hermann Minkowski invented this idea, which was published just six weeks before he died. Indeed, [Sir Roger] Penrose, for one, says that special relativity was not a finished theory until Minkowski's famous Raum und Zeit [‘Space and Time’] paper.”
My Note: The second and most interesting aspect is support for harmonious combination of three dependant entities forming the Whole of reality. THE TRINITY.
A Harmonious Concinnity
While the concepts of twistor theory and spinors have been previously investigated as an alternative to space-time, Sparling explains how his new proposal is slightly different because it’s not a complete replacement of space-time. Rather, the guiding principle of his idea is that of a harmonious combination of three entities, or a “trinity.” Each part of the theory reinforces the other parts.

Richard,
Thanks for all the information!
Your welcome Keith. You know some of this seemingly unrelated data may later play a role in world solutions. The HQR dialog has certainly sent me on an adventure in knowledge.
I am getting ready to compile a new report, all the new data is in, about this mysterious growing global threat.
What is interesting is when you take all the event knowledge and look at it as a whole, which I think is an example of holism, it enables much greater understanding. The biggest common denominator seems to be the climate. The second seems to be chemicals introduced into the environment. The third may be our factory farming methods. The fourth may involve the way in which life on the planet is adapting to some coming change that nature sees long before we do.
The bee die off is now a global issue, effecting both the Northern and Southern hemispheres, and there is more going on with other species.
The fish of all species, in all The Great Lakes are hemorrhaging, and dying as the result of a deadly Ebola-like virus.
“What's so disturbing is that it's killing fish from so many species and with amazingly high mortality levels," says Paul Bowser, professor of aquatic animal medicine at Cornell University.
The type of virus itself may not necessarily be new, yet the variation might be, the level of effect is new. It appears like the bees that their immune systems are shutting down or being impaired.
We are also getting massive fish and marine species kills on the East and West coast of the US for a slightly different reason on each coast but still climate related reasons.
Can you all imagine if we lose even a percentage of the worlds fish population what will happen?
I am seeing the effects in my own back yard, the sparrows have not returned, the bee colony in the big tree has shown no activity. This is in contrast to where my brother lives in Ohio. Where he is seeing the opposite all kinds of birds are showing up that he has not seen before. The animals must know something and they are also feedback from the system that we should listen to. I may be moving to Ohio with them I am sure real estate values will go up there if it is some type of haven.
Maybe it will all fix itself and it is only a phase, maybe we will collectively figure out a solution, perhaps life will go on as usual (I hope not) we need change for the better. Or maybe “last days” people and prophecy were on to something. The one thing that will get the attention of everyone and draw their focus away from the fabricated issues produced by the dominance of the egoic mind is a hungry belly.
Some have just realized that if we lose our pollinators not only do we lose a third of the plant based food supply we lose the wildlife animals that also depend on the fruits, nuts and berries. If we lose this portion of the human diet then our own immune systems will begin to shut down making us vulnerable.
Thank you for your kind words Keith :-)
Love,
Char

Dear Char,
Regarding your above posts, a very interesting site to visit is in my opinion:

Dear Richard,
"My Note: The second and most interesting aspect is support for harmonious combination of three dependant entities forming the Whole of reality. THE TRINITY."
About this trinity, here is a website where you can read about the Vesica Pisces, which is very much related to the Flower of Life, only here you can also read some math related to it:

Amazing Mieke! That's it! I just checked out that website that you gave me and it's great! What I saw within the light, the Star of David, and what I saw around the earth, the geo light pattern of triangles, rectangles, & squares! It's nice to know that others have seen this and I'm not weird ... well, not too weird or different :-) Thank you!!!
Love, Char
PS: Mieke - Just wanted to say that the two things that I saw were different, as I had posted before. And now I understand, so thanks again.
The first one was an imagine of light from a candle that I was looking at which eventually formed into the Star of David after going thru some changes, i.e., more like the imagine within the light became clearer and clearer if one can bear to look at it that long. And it was alive and with movement. So in the end, as far as I could go, the golden Star of David appeared with circles around the outside of the star, with each circle having the color of a rainbow filling in each circle, in the order of a rainbow that is created from light (and water I suppose?), as the color changed with each distanced, i.e., the furtherer away from the light.
And the second one, I saw while enjoying my hot tub at night, as I was looking up into the stars, was the geo white light pattern around the earth while in my hot tub.
Well, I could talk more, but I've got to run and do some work now.
Love, Char
Dear Char,
I'm happy you found some recognition through that website :)
Hereunder a little poem i made in my selfmade 3D Virtual Peace Labyrinth:
What is more beautiful than living in harmony?
The world that's inside and around me...
That what i see...
When i can see it with the full attention of the moment....
Then that what i see is always what it should be in the present....
Now, now is the moment.
Peace is my natural being
Peace is my natural state
Peace is what surrounds me
Nothing can fill it with hate
With love,
Mieke

Thank you DK as I enjoyed this post very much, as with all your posts.
My middle sister is an artist and is very good, from what I hear, but it was a very frustrating journey for her. When should drew or painted something, and looked at it, realizing that the harmony was not there, she would violently ripe her art work up. It was very stressful to hear about this or see it happening, especially when we thought most of it was good. Many years later, she now shows her work in small art fairs and gets 1st place ribbons and the last time I talked to her, she had some exhibits setup in an art museum in her town. I think she said it takes her one year to complete one large painting and she has to be in the right mood or inspired. She said it takes a lot of work and effort, as it can drain her energy. But she says she does not tare it up any more. Thank goodness for that!
For me personally, when I was five years old, I made my sisters and friends sit in front of me as I attempted to draw their faces. Since it was horrible and they made fun of me, I stopped. Then I tried it again 20 years later and an ex-husband had his artist brother look at my sketches to see if I had any potential. He said I did, but that I needed to practice a lot! So I stopped. Then once again, a few years later I wanted to draw a portrait of my mother when she was young for her B'day and to say I was sorry about something that I did which was very wrong as I disrespected her, plus I was leaving town for good, I thought for good, but did leave town.
Anyway, my mother was a very beautiful woman, so I copied this black and white portrait of her when she was 16 years old and sketched it in 5 hours in pencil a few weeks before I left good quality art paper. And you know what? No one could tell the difference between the two pictures! It was creepy. And we had people from outside of the family coming in to view it. So I think it has more to do with the heart, as least it did for me. I had to have a desire and an intense passion to draw my mother. So I knew I could draw, but it was not an area that I wanted to pursue, at the time anyway and probably not now either or I would be drawing up a storm :-) I think everyone can draw, but they have to want to and then they have to put in the time to perfect their skills and it's not something I want to put time into. Plus, when I asked my mother where the picture was during one of my visits, she pulled it out of a drawer, as she had hidden it because she ruined it with water colors. It was not the same and looked horrible. I was very frustrated, but kind of laughed inside as my mother loved painting big pictures by numbers. And she must have thought my work was worthy to paint. I do love her so dearly, even though it has not been easy for either of us and now she is sick.
In short, to create, I believe that one has to connect to the Source and with that connection achieved thru intense desire and passion, we able to create as the Creator. So this is the part that I think can cause frustration, as one is trying to connect to the Source, which can be difficult until one gets closer and sees what they have made. Just think of the passion the Creator must have had and his (he for me) artwork is most beautiful and made with great Love and Passion.
Love, Char
