The launching of the Alliance took place synchronistically during a major stirring up in the country by citizens at large pleading for peace, for an end to the decades long violence that has plagued this beautiful country.

A leading group was identified constituted by Ramiro Valencia Cossio, former Governor of Antioquia and present CEO of one of the largest Information Technology Groups in Latin America , who is also a primordial sound meditation teacher. Jaime Jaramillo (Papa Jaime) whose Foundation Children of the Andes has rescued more than 30,000 children from the sewers and streets of Bogotá, and Maria Inez Restrepo President of CONFAMA (a public/private sector partnership organization providing educational and social services to employees).

The group of Friends of the Alliance for a New Humanity in Colombia will incorporate as a not for profit organizations, according to the laws of the land and affiliate itself with the Alliance . In their plans is to host a major Latin American Regional Human Forum in the near future.

The Medellin launching of the Alliance was held at the amphitheater of CONFAMA with the participation of about 500 people, a Panel constituted by Ramiro Valencia , Deepak, Adolfo Jarrin, leader in corporate transformation from Venezuela , Nestor Torres, Grammy award winner flutist from Puerto Rico and Lina Barrantes from the Oscar Arias Foundation in Costa Rica. The group led the 3 hour participatory event which concluded with Nestor’s flute concert. Next day Deepak addressed a crowd of 3,000 people and announced the launching of the Alliance in Colombia .

In Bogotá a Forum with high officials in charge of seeking reconciliation as part of the peace process in Colombia marked the first activity of the Alliance Colombian chapter with the participation of Ramiro as leader of the Alliance in Colombia , Deepak and high officials from the President’s office.

Meetings with the President and the Minister of Culture of Colombia. and the Director of the Office of Reconciliation discussed the development of joint Alliance/Colombian initiatives; a Culture for Peace program in collaboration with the Ministry, a think –peace campaign to be broadcast every week for 5 minutes (an idea posed by Deepak and received enthusiastically by President Uribe), and finally based on the program presently being developed in collaboration with Monica Sharma of the UN, the development of a grass root leadership program based on an adaptation of the Soul of Leadership syllabus..

The day concluded with Deepak's addressing 7,000 people finalizing with an invitation to all to join the Alliance for a New Humanity.

Profound contacts were made with a variety of organizations and individuals. Perhaps the most incredible one being with the organization of Jaime (Papa Jaime) Jaramillo to help street children, a truly amazing organization founded on love in action principles. Jaime will be coming to our Human Forum in Costa Rica in March 11-13 2008, to present his amazing program.

Today the Alliance is launched in Colombia . The message of: be the change, make a difference and share the passion, resounded in Spanish in the ears and hearts of thousands who are already doing love in action and personal transformation and many, many connected for the first time, stimulated, catalyzed, and empowered by the connectivity and consciousness message of the Alliance.
