Every time a Harry Potter book came out, we were amongst the first to buy it - not for our kids, but for ourselves. Well, my 5 1/2 year old daughter has just discovered the wonder of Harry Potter - I am suprised at how exciting this has been. Because
my husband and I are re-living the discovery of muggles and Hogwarts and house elves and Dumbledore and He Who Cannot Be Named and Hermione and Ron and Harry with such excitement, wonder, anticipation. She is mesmerized and all morning, afternoon and evening, we are bombarded with questions about magic and wizards and invisibilty cloaks and Slytherins and Gryffindors. She is totally hooked and her imagination is racing. (No wonder so many parents and teachers and publishers love J.K. Rowling!)
Tara has also recently discovered the Wizard Of Oz, The Parent Trap, Annie. (And, well, I have to admit that its not all my old favorites -- High School Muscial is at the top of the mix.)
My husband is watching old Bollywood movies with them - a favorite these days is Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi with Kishore Kumar and his brothers. What a fun movie!
There is so much to look forward to -- Nancy Drew mysteries, PG Wodehouse, Shakespeare, Footloose, Star Wars... There is so much to rediscover, and this time around it all holds even more magic and fun!

Hello Mallika and Everyone,
I will never forget taking my children to see the movie Annie when they were young and looking at their faces while they were watching it...pure..wonder and awe, at this moment I can put myself in that theater and look over at them, and it still takes my breath away, the beauty of that moment.. they loved it, from start to finish, the story, the music, the dancing, their expression did not change throughout the whole movie...they were truly blown away by it.
and "the sun will come up(out?)...tomorrow" hmm.
have a great day everyone, ruth
That's great, Mallika!! I too, went through all the glories of old stories with my son when he were old enough to understand what I were reading to him... Jungle Book was his fave film, and Yours Mine and Ours-with Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda--my son would laugh and laugh...
Love, how children rekindle our inner child with tickles of memories, and new ones being made "with them" during the revival...
I have 3 of the Potter movies, and hope to get the rest too.. I am totally bummed, I cannot find a copy of Shekhars Elizabeth here for sale : (
Luv,
North
