Deepak Chopra - August 29, 2007
Dear Friends,
I have joined CARE2.COM as an advisor. One of our projects is to galvanize millions of people around “one action a month” that could change the world. I would love any creative ideas you have on this. Please post below.

I live on only 11-grande a year; so I can't even spare a potatoe... so what I do, is the only thing I am able to do... create digital artworks for volunteer groups, free of charge. I put as much work into them, as I do a commissioned project!! A few years ago, I designed, wrote, punched and published 250 poetry books.. donating ALL proceeds, to a literacy council. Gosh, that felt good to do!! I also go through my clothes closets regularly; anything that has not been worn in a year or two; gets given to someone poorer than I am.. and there are so many, to give to.
North...you're a sweetheart!
To whom much is given...much is required...
What you feel like may be a little bit, may be more than Buffets billions....
Hope you're still progressing after your surgery.
norm
Tnx Norm.. I am healing well, and can hardly wait until these abdominal stitches are gone!! gosh, they are brutal! Tnx for the luv, concern and appreciation, for what I "can do."
Here's a pic of me I scanned, that was in the paper... I am punching and binding the poetry books, of which I donated all PROCEEDS. Felt good, to do!

I have had this idea for about a year. Ever since I saw the footage of the action called "a day without immigrants". I would love to take an action in America that would bring attention to the mistreatment and violence against gays and lesbians. Each day I hear anti-gay advocates say that gays are only 1% of the population, so why should they count for their civil rights or hate crime protections. But even one victim of violence is too much. I know, I have been bashed twice! I would like to show them, and the rest of the world that 1% can shake the world.
I propose "a day without gay", I propose that ever person who is gay, and every person who supports ending the violence against gays just stay home for the day. Don't go to work, don't use your cell phone, don't go shopping, do not spend any money, etc....just vanish!
Stay home and watch the wizard of oz with friends.
Show people we do count. Show people we do make a difference. Can you imagine how hard it would be to have no gay people for a whole day? It would be rough!
This is the perfect nonviolent action in the spirit of Gandhi. Stand up the violence against gays and lesbians by hiding out for a day! Make the world STOP in protest.
Thanks for letting me rant and rave!
Peace, Joe Brummer

My husband and I take inner city foster kids camping in the mountains to experience nature. Some of them were really frightened at first, but now they love it and two have turned into budding astronomers. Not much, I know.

Here's a widget banner I created, for Leonardo DiCaprio's 11th Hour film--to post above his video on myspace. It's his face, within his myspace iceberg background...
http://www.slide.com/r/gPlK7_N3oj9WfWjUN-zTucVApbA4r-Pr?previous_view=mscd_embedded_url&view=original
I was not asked to do this, I did it to bring visual awareness, to his video--to me, it was a "great cause" to use my skills on--and I am a big softie for environmentalists, and human activists!
ciao for now,
North

Nice! btw, happy recovery.

Bonnie, introducing children to nature and especially Astronomy is one of the noblest things anyone can do. Congrats.
Deepak, how about a Carl Sagan day?
You could present his science/religion uniting Cosmos Series and start with “The Edge of Forever”.

Tnx Bonnie!
Every time I see a dead animal on the road I put it in a bubble of light (sometimes I see the Egyptian ankh appearing as well which is a symbol of eternal life).
I do similar with disaster news appearing on television. I ask for the help of the ligth and through my eyes I give it to them; just take care not making emotions when doing so.
Wish people in need all the best so that they may find a solution for their problem.
Through my enthousiasm speak to people reinstalling their hope and making them confident in themselves; this is more my lifestyle I guess.
What I want to say is that it doesn't have to cost money in helping somebody else. If we use our imagination, the possibilities are countless.
The most exciting thing in life is to create and I mean creating out of nothing.
Dear Chanem,
Post #13
I do agree with you from the bottom of my heart :)
It is soo easy to tell what i am doing to improve the world. I can mention lots of websites and blogs that are doing this also.
In fact, if you surf the internet you will find that almost all sites go about that fact.
Then why hasn't the world already improved, you might ask?
Well is has actually, when you start improving yourself from the inside. You suddenly find out that YOUR world has undergone a total transformation.
Improve the "World", always starts with yourself, from the inside :)
Then one indeed can create anything out of nothing.
Mieke
Hi Deepak and everyone,
Thank you for the Care2.com site, I absolutely love it. Friends, if you haven’t checked the free donations page, please do it… with one click you save rainforest, wildlife, a pet, you give a child means for education and protect a battered woman, and all that without paying a dime. The sponsors pay, you just click! I bow to you and the others, Deepak!
Here are some suggestions, I’ll keep thinking:
1. A “Thank You” Month – when we take any occasion to express gratitude to everyone who in any way contributes or has contributed to the wellbeing in our life. This can be really fun and creative, imagine surprising the mailman with bread fresh from the oven, sending a colourful “thank you for your services” note with your bills or calling someone to whom you have been grateful without expressing it. Or sending a thank you e-mail to someone you have had a conflict with which has taught you a lot :P
2. A “Plant New Life” Month – a month of focus on learning how to plant and care for a tree, a garden plant or a pot flower/herb, and taking action to do it. This would include a lot of good, inspiring info and tips on where to get the plants, how to find a suitable place to plant them and anything else that especially people in cities would need to know.
3. A “Share Your Knowledge and Skills” Month – a month when people could offer to teach something they know. It could be playing the guitar, cooking Indian food, meditate or weave carpets, or understand advanced astrophysics. T would be fun to provide a cyber space for this activity where people could advertise what they have to offer or what they’d like to learn, and form groups around the issues.
4. A “Spring Cleaning” Month- encouraging us to donate any kind of surplus ( to charities, friends or online, to other Care2 members) to keep up the flow and make room for growth in our own lives.
5. A “Know an Animal” Month – if you have pets or not, connect with a new animal, tame or wild (your neighbour’s cat, the snake in the local terrarium, the bird that lives in the tree by your window or the ant on your terrace), learn about its life and habitat, its needs and gifts, and do something to contribute to the wellbeing of this animal or species.
6. A “Make a New Friend” Month – connect with a person or group that has been foreign or threatening to you so far, with the intention of finding the similarities and points of connection. This could be people of another age, occupation, social/religious/cultural/political background, sexual inclination, race, nation… or fans of another football team.
7. A “Month for Yourself” – encouraging ways to nourish ourselves and reconnect with our deepest needs and wishes, to what is important to us, and increase that in our life. A month full of inspiration and ideas for actions that nourish both the individual and our world.
8. A “Choose To Love” Month - when we all commit to listen to the love in our hearts and make all our choices from there, instead of acting out of habit, obligation or fear. That would mean choosing to answer with love to anger, cruelty, indifference, callousness, blaming or numbness showing up in others or in ourselves.
9. An “Our Planet- Our Home” Month – focused on suggestions, discussions and actions meant to reconnect us with our larger, environmental body.
Answer to post #14 - Hallo Mieke, just a short answer to the question "Then why hasn't the world already improved?"
1) Because it is the world i.e. individuals can only improve themselves and they have the freedom and can do by experience (thinking, talking, doing) and thus they transform.
2) Does the world has to improve?
The system works perfectly.
3) Is it useless to be on the world?
Not at all but sometimes we know or we hope for better; so we all go further...'the way of no return' (apparently).
Hi Chanem,
Thanks for your reply :)
Yes, the system works perfectly, i do agree.
Never is it useless to be in the world cause just by being here i already add to it :)
Love, Mieke
Hi Deepak,
I have been a member of care2 for several years. I think they grew a million in the last year and they are at about 7 million now.
It has always been a part of my plans for the
(R)evolution and so is Zaadz.
This is so cool that you have become an advisor.
I have put together a plan using technology, which I am adept at, in a very advanced way to bring about change like it has never been seen before.
It is all part of the One Click Revolution concept I have created, as well as changing to a government (updated to reflect changes in technology over the last 200 years) to give people an authenticated and measured voice which impacts the vote and decisions made.
It also is designed to create a discerning awareness, processing and validation of information, and transparency and can allow the population to act in concert.
However we need to take care of some things before this happens, and the first, which is a Work in Progress, is to eliminate the centralized corporate influenced media as the common source of information. This being done to prevent irrational Mob Mentality and misdirection by corporate and political influence, and includes the coming dominance of secular spirituality.
The transfer of power from a few, to the many, is crucial, where it makes sense, for our “technological progress” to succeed and the restoration of a balanced system, both natural and man made, without resulting in the destruction of humanity.
It is the way to engineer ego, and special interests out of the system.
When the world is controlled by the people, this includes the military being collectively controlled, some very advanced technology can be released to all the people on the planet.
Obviously this is a global thing and the intention is to bypass the world’s governments and current power players and go directly to the people to empower them with awareness.
As we all know it is a few that create conflict, not the many.
That being said there are FUNCTIONAL SOLUTIONS to the worlds problems and issues that need implementation that I have been writing about for a while. I have wrote about almost all of them here on intent blog.
Rock Dust (surface soil Remineralization)
Amaranth (advanced nothing like it packaging of raw materials needed by the human body that grows in areas of drought and poor soil)
Sustainable Extreme Weather Housing and Cities with distributed alternative energy architecture and communications.
Disease elimination protocols
And such things as individual product certification / information which allow a consumer to know everything about a product they buy. Who made it, the materials etc. This includes certification of the mineral content of produce and the quality of soil they were grown in, fertilization methods. This system also allows for efficient product recalls which saves everyone money and eliminates risk.
I am growing tired of writing about this stuff.
Stay true Brother Ricahard
Your words do not fall on deaf ears. Only those who are too caught up in thier ego and trying desperatelty to prove they are right can not hear the wisdom of your words.
You are still one of my heros, working beyond the old ways and old belief systems that bog down the progress.
Someday the these logic heads and gurus will accept each other and grow up and move on, but for now they fight to prove who is right.
Yo, no belief is the new belief.
derek
So something simple. Create awareness about the Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratio imbalance mostly due to factory farming.
There is a way to achieve national advertising on television / cable for one fourth the cost.
One could do a spot.
Do you want your kids to be stupid and have emotional problems? Then keep feeding them factory farmed food with it's omega 3 and 6 ratio imbalance, a plague upon our children.
Check out this web site and learn how to balance it.
OneClickRevolution.com
OneClickRevolution.org
the sites will be up soon.
I have a very interesting implementation but I won’t speak here now so no one will have a chance to build defenses against it, the idea will not become diluted by others dissipating activist energy. It helps to create an impactful increase in awareness and reaches every "mind sector".
It allows everyone to play a role in world transformation.
Combined with the functionality of several other sites it should be very effective, for example CARE2 and the Petition Site.
I estimate the cost of achieving a world in balance and harmony to be about $5.00 - $10.00 each.
One of the major milestones will be when Lobbyists are no longer courting or bribing our representatives, but instead the general population, which obviously they could never afford to bribe.
Derek, thank you.
I am sure that everything is unfolding perfectly and there is a "right" timing for everything. The timing is often beyond the scope of the finite mind, while the infinite mind knows exactly. So we don’t need to worry about that as much as attending to the things that are presented to us in the present moment.
The key elements are the required shifts in consciousness at the local individual level which create a collective shift which then removes the barriers to realization of the reality we all want. The power of the collective easily overrides the resistance of a few.
We need to let go of the old to allow the new.
Some good ideas Aurora, at least it puts the attention on something of value in contrast to the many other fruitless things we tend to put our attention on.
Can you imagine the difference if the media was talking about each of those all month instead of the other detrimental subject matter they tend to draw everyones attention to? Not that the media doesn't create some value and increased awareness, the total amount of benefit is minimal compared to the amount of detriment.
Of course it is the viewers that can bring that change if they start turning away from what is offered now to other sources / channels of media.
the weird dude prances!
Aurora,
Richard and all my friends thank you for posting your comments and suggestions here. They are extremely creative and useful so be sure to visit www.care2.com and make use of the opportunities provided there just by clicking on the channel "click to donate." You can make a huge difference at no cost. Also, you can start your own petitions. Thank you once again for your support.

Deepak
Dear Aurora,
To add another to your wonderful list:
10. 'Visit with A Senior Citizen' Month. Find out how interesting and rewarding it can be when you connect with someone who is 'older and wiser' :)
I have learned so much from some amazing elders!

#25 is not highlighted, so I must be suspicious.
.
A whole lot of good ideas here.
Charity begins at home.
Peace begins in the heart,
and then it might begin at home.
If I ever get my own house in order, then...
.
Excuse me, again...and I might have heard this wrongly,
but I thought I heard on a news network last night,
something about care2 being one of three hundred
organizations that have monetarily supported
an Islamic Fundamentalist group. They were
speaking of suspicious political contributions made to Hillary.
Someone...please tell me it's not true2.
Thank you!
Poor reporting, I know, but I must go bowling now. Bye!
Dear Deepak, why was my comment, posted right after Mieke and Richards... removed? It was there for a few hours, and NOW it's gone?
It is truly disturbing, to promote free speech, tolerate impotence from some members, then pick and choose, whose comments are worthy of keeping on the blog.. or not?
Deeply saddened, by this; to have my input removed like this?
Please explain the why?
It is imperitive, both sides of an issue(the fence) be allowed...regardless of how negative, uncomfortable, repetitive, or redundant to perhaps "some members"(generalitive speaking) it is also, often this very echo of "what is being missed" in the equation of balancing the unbalances of our global family... our unity is divided, if we are not all allowed to input.
Healing circles allow unity.
Global awareness, must work the same.
No regrets for speaking my disappointments out loud; but, I AM impertinent at the worst of timing, often stick my foot in my mouth; but I do implore that we explore all facets of issues, not only just those comments which soothe, and satiate desirable senses; but, also to reveal the "open wound" regardless of how revolting, repulsive, or immature...
Much love and respect, though I do tend to display disappointment "out loud" I DO admire this blog, and being a member for 2 years, has been a learning experiences.. from both sides of the fence.

COVER OF MY SOUL(North/DDS-6-1999)
When you look at me,
look past the cover of my soul
and see me;
because when I look at you,
I see you only as, that way.

I hope you or the staff of IB don't feel chastised.. just voicing my rather surprised disappointment, and strengthen the ties, which divide and concquer our ability to unite as ONE.
ONE LOVE,
North
Common Normie, I think you can give up feeding the elderly for a Carl Sagan Day!
You think they would mind?
This reminds me of what my Mother organized in the neighborhood, a friendship club. The rowdy kids really calmed down once a month when we met and basically became real friends.. for life.
So Norm, you have any fried chicken going?
Cheers,
Steve
I wrote a long post and who knows what I clicked on... it's gone. So, here it goes again:
Richard,
I agree with you that we need a change of focus. Our collective attention is mesmerized by the "outside" when it is the "inside" that needs tending first. You have great, beautiful plans and intentions, good luck!
Thank you Deepak,
I wish people at Care2 had seen the expression on the face of my ten year-old when she realized that she can do so much. She clicks to donate as often as she can, with her friends, and then they run to me and tell me that they have "fed an orange to a primate"! :) There is no thank you big enough for what you people are doing.
Kate,
of course! A hundred times of course... no. 10 is a given. Thank you!
Norm, North, Bonnie and Steve,
such great ideas, friends... I was thinking about ways to put them into a "one month" system. I don't know, do you have any idea?
Joe Brummer,
we have a Pride Festival in stockholm every year, a grand celebration of sexual diversity. It would be a pity to hide away, even for a day, I think.
Aurora,
The point of hiding away for a day is to nonviolently protest the violence against GLBT folks. One easy way to wake people up to how important and beautiful something in their face is to remove it from them. It is the idea that people will not appreciate what they have until is is gone. That is the value behind my suggestion.
The easiest way to show someone how big of a part of a whole you are, is to take the part away and let them see the hole that is left without you.
Joe
Steve,
No fried Chicken yet...but now that you bring it up....
I read North's list of things that men need schooled on...and had to laugh! I plead guilty! Except the one about the stove...I can cook!! I can make fried chicken that will make you lick your eyebrows!! So c'mon down to the poor farm, it'll be ready about noon!
By the way, since you so freqently engage Ron and Skep...you might wanna tell little Ronnie to look up the word apostasy! In his eagerness to impress us all with his vocabulary...he falls over himself sometimes! It kinda came out with the same effect as a double negative...know what I mean?
Anyway, mashed potatoes or baked?
norm
Norm... try adding a tablespoon of honey to your eggwash, next time you fry chicken! Works great for fish, too... oooh yummy! The taste is subtle, and surprisingly delicious!
Mashed of course Norm!
I'll tell ya, I have a buddy who lives in Savannah, I may just have to make a southern swing one day!
You may have to include dear North's honey addition next time you go a fryin.
OK guys got to finish up a bunch of stuff before the weekend.
Enjoy and take it easy.
Steve
Dear Aurora, If I could answer your question; I would not be here(gentle smile.)
Dear Steve and Norm--perhaps we can combine our cooking abilities, into a venture for packaging dried foods, to feed the enormous influx of impoverished people.
As this generation becomes a dog eat dog world; let us feed at least, all their puppies! : )
I can make homemade beef jerky; now, there is a start... I cook, you guys market?
Hey Aurora..is this a feasible idea to your Q? Every month, sales from the delicate meat will be offered to a non profit humanitarian group.
Much respect to all my fellow Canadians, celebrating Canada's Labour Day weekend; so from near and those afar... have a memorable weekend!
Don't forget to hug... someone!

I see, I missed the "cut and paste" of my url. Not sure whether to giggle, or panic? hahhah
Big Norm,
Thanks for your generous help! Much appreciated!
Rgds.
P.S.: We are still waiting for the big Kentucky invite. I promise I won't attack you with a steak knife!
Listen it right
The child in his room
Locked by hands
A time of a hard innocence-molder
Transforming the youth-realm in mould
As an helicopter coming from the sky, full of expertise
The same is coming from within
A bubble-feeling maybe from an unknown-realm
You, alone to witness it
As pimp or prostitute
The message is full-wide-acceptance of who you are.
Your lovely-self, as different as forms-flowers are
Is unlocked...
A society with biz-separated-vision
Forced-actions based in low-self-esteem
News eating inner-despair
Placing itself in the middle of what is
On the land of this west too far
Common-child slavery, a full society of adult-children WANTED
Priest, bosses, teachers, medias, pedo-leaders of any kind
Your twisted-visions are right, your actions a deep-pain
All of us, good or bad
Witnessing the impossible
Many gossiping about an invisible-subtle-monster
Many cares to not fall in disinformation
Seeking beyond the impossibilities
Opening wings into wider-consciousness
As long as your body is alive
Life gives you a wonderful solution
Don't listen right or wrong
Listen your self-real-possibility
Cedrika and you cannot be guilty of anything
You are the hided reality of an all-unconscious society...
flabs talking about food...damn!
"Anyway, (amber) mashed potatoes or baked?"
norm.
u figure burly billy knows a thing or 2 about ..tatoes? yo!
says flabs...
"PS...something else...I have a tractor, and a 4 Wheel Drive pickup truck..." really, flabs...braggin' again! wow!
In response to Deepak Chopra's request for One Action a Month, I'm suggesting A Day for Acts of Kindness. For examples, taking an extra sandwich for lunch and giving one to a homeless person. Extra good quality used clothing and blankets, too.
Gathering toys your children have outgrown, and their outgrown clothing, too, and giving them to an orphanage or youth center.
Taking an hour to go to a hospital or old person's home and reading an inspirational story to person's without visitors.
And/or taking time for a good conversation.
smiling at every person you meet and looking them in the eye.
Saying "yes" to anyone who asks for help.
Seeing who needs help and offering to help them.
Over the last 7 years I have traveled to 3rd World countries with a healing friend, into underpriveledged neighborhooods, and we have spent days and hours in a month, each of those years, doing many of the things mentioned here. The unexpected joy of these experiences and interactions remain ever memorable. Peace, Love, & Music Everyone.
All needs be met, what can I do to bless you today?
One action a month! I recently went on a trip to Vienna and shopped at a local supermarket. I suddenly realized with my 9 items on hand that they do not provide you with bags! Yikes! I thought, but I managed! I felt really good about the fact that I was at that point helping with the action of not supporting the use of plastic bags or even paperbags!
So real simple! For a month bring your own bags for shopping. Many of us already do this and many super markets promote it by selling consumers cloth bags...BUT....guess what most people just leave them at home :-(
So, the approach, partner with your local stores and tell them to not provide any plastic bags for a month as well as paperbags. If someone does not have them charge a small fee, IKEA does this. In this case Care2care can partner and promote this and have part of the funds go to the program. But of course you would need to partner with local stores. I recently learned that STARBUCKS has a board which you can FREELY post such projects and if you speak to a general manager they will help you promote it in various regions as long as it is a non for profit project. In addition Whole Foods is open to it as well. It is a simple act that in one month can make a very good impact. More importantly you can get the kids involved...and kudos to the stores who join!

Most people, even though educated are "blind" and "deaf".

Deepak...cool!
I've never done it on a systematic basis, but once in a while I'll cook a big meal, and my kids and I will divide it up on plates, and take it around to the elderly in our community.
We live in the country, so we just make a really simple fare, like pork chops, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, etc. It's fun to see the gratitude on their faces, as well as the joy on my kids faces from serving.
Just a small thing, but something I've enjoyed doing.
Norm
PS...something else...I have a tractor, and a 4 Wheel Drive pickup truck, so in the winter, we like to clear the neighbors driveways when we have a heavy snow. Not tooting my own horn, I've just learned as I get older, that as St. Francis said, "It's in giving, that we recieve."
