A LETTER TO ALL MY FRIENDS AND CRITICS (also my friends) ON INTENTBLOG

Deepak Chopra - October 16, 2007

Dear Friends,

Over the last several weeks, I have been traveling in Asia and Europe and have not had time to look at all the comments (although, I have been diligently posting my blog at least twice a week). Mallika informs me that there is a lot of anger

and discontent at the fact that I have not responded to Skeptisch and his challenge. Please rest assured that I will personally correspond with Skeptisch through Mallika and make arrangements to meet him in New York. We will meet at a mutually convenient time. He is free to bring any neutral observers with him as will I. (Skeptisch will pay for his own travel and accommodations and for any colleagues he wishes to bring, as will I.) We will all observe the same phenomena and then come up with our own interpretations. We will video the whole experience and invite all witnesses to comment on the video, including of course, Skeptisch. We will be sure to post the video on the blog. I promise to do my best to address all of Skeptisch's concerns.

Meanwhile, the purpose of Intentblog (when we founded it) was to understand together both the nature of intent and nature of consciousness and applying that understanding to creatively address the bigger issues facing humanity. I hope we can maintain the dominant conversation on the blog at that level. There are many great bloggers and commentators on this site. To all of you including the critics, I am grateful. Let us maintain civility and dignity on how we speak to each other on the blog. I know I have been guilty of sarcasm and comments that are not necessarily nurturing and I sincerely apologize for that.

Love,
Deepak

PS I would also like to suggest that Skeptisch reveal to us his real name and be as transparent about his identity as most of us are here. Moreover, I would like to know if he is using other pseudo names to post comments but only he can share that with us. It would be better from now on if he and I communicate with each other directly and respectfully.

Hey Marek:

Was just thinking of you today. Good to hear you.

My bro won. He's Lt. Governor of Maryland.

Hey thanx Heather.

And to finally respond to you and Ron S. about life here in Switzerland? I'm the proud father of a 5 month old baby girl. Inca.

That says more for me then all the pretty pictures I could possibly paint about my life here in Switzerland right now.

Hey Norm:

Welcome aboard. Good un'!

Norm:

Ya know turgid is kinda like flabs so we're on the same boat.

Could I venture to say GOD your right. Inca makes a sinking boat surface.

I can hear the cyber war drums beating. Get out the life rafts.

Turgid

And their off.

Excuse me.

They're off.

Dear Deepak:

Welcome back. Your offer to Skeptisch seems simple and transparent to me. The question is, will Skeptisch and his representatives be as transparent or will he run for the hills as he is already being advised to do?

Yo! this should be fun indeed!

Bonnie

Double Damn!!!

Hey Diablo:

You can actually speak more then ten words. I'm proud of you.

Turgid

My goodness this is way to funny. Finally some comic relief on IB.

Kate:

I wanted to say hi and then thought you didn't remember. Thank you dearly for remembering.

Much Love

Laurence,
I can't forget you!
~ Kate

(imagine being back in NYC
for
an IB special event
:)

Actually Kate I should say I thought you wouldn't.....remember.

Your all light

Looking forward to the "results" Deepak!!

Skeptisch,

"I will be in New York at your convenience."

...also the 'convenience' of the possible neutral observers. A skilled skeptical magician will be handy and a 'controlled environment' is paramount to verify any paranormal claim. Skeptical Societies of NY may be interested in observing the phenomena. The interpretations will be fairly balanced in the end.

siddharth

#37 Don't tell me you're LPB as well!!:) Skep. a veritable hive of busy bee

Dear Deepak:

I apologize for having underestimated your abilities.

I apologize for doubting your motives and intentions.

You said you would.
Now you will.
Indeed, you are blessed!

I pleasantly refuse to have any certain expectations
about the up and coming manifestation
of a new-fangled fiasco neutralizer.

Damn! Wish I could be there.
Triple damn! Me2

says flabs...

"Since he's too young to drink, maybe he can pull us around on his bicycle...? Damn!!"

no flabs, it would take a mac truck to pull u and Turgid around...whoahahahahahahahahahaha!

a real fire cracker...

20 yrs. ago this is what big old flabs looked like...now a distant memory! damn!

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3874058244391438463

uncle ed,

that is a cute observation...looks like dude has a lot on his mind and forgetting who he really is...damn! hehe!

Cool. I’m admittedly surprised (and delighted) with this development. While there are still many hurdles to overcome before this actually takes place, we seem to have two willing participants in this challenge. Apologies to DC for suggesting he'd bailed.

Regarding Skeptisch revealing his real name, I think Deepak has the right to know who his challenger is, however, I would caution Skeptisch (as I would anyone) about fully disclosing his full personal information on the web. If Skep is asked to fully disclose his personal info online, then we should all be asked to fully disclose our personal info online.

Dear Deepak,

Let me add my voice to the applause I’m hearing for you willingness to convince the Skeptics of this world about the art of spoon bending.
I am imagining there are many wonderful practical applications for this metal bending business. For example, it would work wonders in and Automobile repair shop!
Damn, I bet Norm has a lot of bent up machinery down there on his farm in old Kentucky from trying to go through things instead of around them. Perhaps as added phenomena, you could send them a group hug bending, to get them back in shape. I also have an unnatural angle in my three iron, but that can wait for later since I have resolved to use my rescue club from now on. Anyway, all the best to you and your brave demonstration.

Kindest Regards,
Stan

"Let us maintain civility and dignity on how we speak to each other on the blog. I know I have been guilty of sarcasm and comments that are not necessarily nurturing and I sincerely apologize for that." says deepak...that is classy, dude!

here is video demonstration off spoon bending!

http://youtube.com/watch?v=vW0a2WiTicc

So much for guessing on what we might expect, Diablo!

I don't know whether to thank you or knot. Don the Antichristo!

Get out the horns! You've blown my thorns!

Anyone have a spare mule?

not to worry dude...in the deepak demonstration in NYC...it is supposed to be done by remote control, not by rubbing the spoon...no?

Deepak, thank you for the letter, I appreciate it a lot, and I had no doubt whatsoever that you will do what you said you'll do - at exactly the right time.

Skeptisch,
the only reason I would love to be there in NY when this happens is to see the surprise on your face, to then shake hands or give you a warm hug (whatever would feel right for you) and then to sit down together with you and your friends, laugh and joke a bit at how wonderful life is, and see what all this would mean for our world and for what we can do for it. I wish you the best of experiences and a whole new dimension of life opening wide!

Wow! I go to sleep here n Switzerland and wake up being Skeptisch. The internet is an amazing transformational tool.

Does the fact that Skeptisch desires to change my #32 post's name to Skeptisch mean I'm going to New York?

God, Billy The Mountain would be so proud of us Skeptisch.

On a more serious note I doubt Skeptisch posted #37. He may be a thorn in some peoples sides but I don't believe he's that blatantly stupid.

Edmund:

Tell me your having some fun.

Thank you wa wa. I actually wondered if a post or 4 had been deleted.

A 2 instead of a 6? That's some typo.

I wonder if "you all" cares?

Uh. If you say so.

Yeah, really, this is a good news. Very exciting too!

I agree with Heather.

Marek is back! Nice to see you back!

"...it is supposed to be done by remote control...", Diablo you are too funny. :.)

Dearest Dhuwa,

You are quite right, I am happy :) But I'm not an optimist, I'd rather call it a realist. Whenever we have enough patience to let things unfold at their own pace, if we are honest, then we have to agree that it was truly the best way for everyone. In this particular case, an immediate answer from Deepak would have not allowed us the time needed for each of us to observe what emerges out of our... mouths :) It was an important time for observation of the way one's mind is wired to react, and it can lead to the insight that we don't need to let the mind drag us wherever it is used to drag us. And so, I was as grateful for the waiting time as much as I am grateful for the next step of this particular road.

And, Dhuwa, do you really need to use words like "manure" and "bullshit" when you talk to me? Have I in any way offended or threatened you? Or is there another explanation for your use of words?

Dear DPK,

The faces of the skeptics cannot possibly be more fun than my own face every time I had to allow something into my world that wasn't "supposed" to be possible. And believe me, I still have that funny face whenever I cross a new boundary! So no, it's not for the fun, but for the joy of seeing a brother move on. That is why I congratulate Skeptisch for his courage, because if he is like me, then it's not easy.

What I think...? I think that our spiritual power needs to be focused on the most pressing issues of our time. Yes, focus transforms our energy into a laser beam, and as we all deeply want the suffering on our planet to end... as soon as we're done with spoons, let's see if there are other things that catch our focused attention.

Dear Friends

In all our dealings with Deepak, one aspect which has stood head and shoulder above all is his capacity to remain friendly and polite in all circumstances. This is endearing as indeed is the warmth of Deepak's personality.

If we are in New York, we will be keen to be there at the time of this get get-together and otherwise if the situation gets overcrowded then it would be nice to see a live video "Webcam" link via IntentBlog.

Above all, we are all one!

Love to all

One of the Sikh Gurus, Guru Teg Bahadur, also said when asked by a Mughal Emperor to perform some miracle: "Natak Chetak Kie Kukaja, Prabh logan ko aavat laza [Miracles are performed by vested interests, God's people feel ashamed of them.]

[Miracles - which he called dramatics here in the words of natak chetak - are performed by vested interests - obviously meant by those who are out to exploit others by one way or the other - God's men feel ashamed of them."

#63

I may also add that there is nothing which cannot be explained by science or rational philosophy sooner or later. Though the fully satisfying realization of one's onenes with the whole of Nature can only be had through self-experince of it.

Hi DK!

#53 Hi LPB. Happy I be. Yep there was a couple of one post deleted.....from tryingtobeunreasonable.
I was only teasing Skep. He may well have the power to stop the bending! Then what?

The only good thing to come out of so much mudslinging in the last few days is exposing the difference in attitudes of the bloggers. Some maintained their dignity and practised self restraint in face of quite extraordinary viciousness and abuse while some plumbed new dephths of vulgarity. It was quite a spectacle of human behaviour.
It is good to see that Deepak has maintained his dignity and responded as expected of his nature. To me spoon bending was never the issue, it was the attitudes of people to different ways of thinking and looking at reality with an open mind. Still, I wish I could be there for the spoon bending extravaganza. May be next time.

#63 I don't think God's people are ashamed of anything, Harb. However, Guru Teg Bahadur was speaking to Mughal Emperor specifically and I think chose his words accordingly.
I see 'miracles' perhaps, as the 'honey' leaking from a bursting hive. It's only a sign of the amazing potential within. Given bees co-operation, how much more so can it be for humankind?
Of course, bee colonies have wars, too when they try to rob each other of their hard-earned gains. But they live in a box. The Universe is discovered to be our 'box' now. When is a box not a box?
Follow that trail of 'honey' with gratitude. It's the source that is the miracle and it resides within each one of us waiting for co-operation.

Talk about bending spoons. It's time to vanish, yay banish, all our little boxes! There's honey enough for everyone and fishes and bread, too.

Amen

Amen, Edmund :)

And I understand you too, Harb, our ego is perfectly capable of taking the credit for any gift, from a sharp intellect to the ability to grow hair! But the intention behind any action is like a flavor, and when present, love is unmistakable.

Edmund:

The real miracle to observe in New York is to see Skeptisch keep the spoon from bending.

Edmund, miracles happening through God's people is one thing, God's people performig miracles to prove a point to another is an other.

God's people feel shy (in fact I should have used this word) because they know it is not a great accomplishment with which they are going to overawe the poor fellow. Analogically, unlike making premature barahamcharis (celebates)of many and in the process makig most of them mentally deranged by Mahatama Gandhi, God's people want people to progress on their evolutionary/spiritual journey on their own pace.

Anyway, still your and Aurora's responses are welcome. I know the problem with me is that I should keep silent but cannot. One learns by and by.

Dear Harb,
I should keep 'silent,' as well. After all these are little 2D boxes we write into!

Greatest respect to you, no gainsaying intended, just my thoughts.

Ed.

:) Edmund! In this perfection incarnate of a world what is there to say?

Dear Dhuwa,

you see how my mind's fixed interpretation of words like those were about to drag me into misunderstanding your intention. How glad I am that I decided to trust you enough to ask you what you meant. I didn't know about that expression, but now thanks to you I do, and also, seeing how you handled this, there is one more person I bow to :) Thank you.

Harb,
I was just going to ask you - how can anything be premature in a perfect world? :) And how can the impulse to be quiet or say/do something belong to anything other than the wholeness?

LMAO! YOU are a silly willy!

Love

I am delighted to read this post. I am one of those critics who churned out nuisance and was amazed to see how my anger could cloud reason. I realized I was hurting myself.

Whether Deepak Chopra can convince the skeptics about the paranormal is no longer a priority for me. I have learned more important things about my life and had a glimpse of ...more fundamental realties that mean something. For this, I am indebted to everyone at intentblog.

Thank You.
Michael

Michael, I just logged on and read your post, and I am moved to tears. You are beautiful!

DPK, thank you for your kindness, love and blessings to you.

Michael:

You have just taught me not to lump everyone into the same boat. Thank you.

I have heard few people here denigrate the achievements of reason and science. They are the great landmarks of history and have made man the master of his external environment on the physical plane and to some extent the inner. The intellectual brilliance of an Einstein or a Sagan are both dazzling and enviable to those who have never attained such heights. By the same token, reason seems to present a "sticking-point" when it becomes infatuated with itself and says emphatically it is the only way to see the 'truth' not unlike dogma in religion. Thus they both choose a negative path, isolating them from the power of love.

Fritjof Capra wrote about all this in the 1970's, and I am paraphrasing, when he said The World of spirituality is coincident with the world of non-deterministic science and nonlinear systems.

So the question here really is not about spoon bending at all, but whether there will ever be a rational recognition of spiritual phenomena by those who are predominantly linear and accustomed to the "left-brain" mode.

Deepak, your efforts in this regard are to be applauded and I feel we will all be raised up a notch or two, because the simple truth is that the energy of a loving thought is enormously more powerful than a negative one.

Well, I think this is all I am going to say about this and will await the outcome....would love to be there in NYC though.

Love
Bonnie

Michael

Welcome home, you have found your essence, your own true self.

Love
Bonnie

I just finished a job transforming negative energy that hooked to a deceased person since more than 6 years and got following message as an urge :

"I wish to express my gratitude to people turning their opinion in comprehension and understanding in stead of persisting criticism and doubt and thus creating very negative vibrations which they direct to one person and spread to the whole world via this IB.

Bad energy can destroy or harm somebody else when he or she is bodily, emotionally, mentally or spiritually weak and at least it makes thelm suffer.

So, be aware in which way you think, act or speak and remember do it out of love, as well as from yourself as to yourself. And if you have trouble in believing somebody else or accepting their words as being their truth, try to see within yourself why. What is it that makes you think and react in that direction? But leave the other in his or her truth and be patient for yourself to not see/understand/experience this truth immediately.

Speak for yourself and not in the name of somebody else.

I put all my warmth and softness in those words and I know this is the strength from my innermost being."

With grace and love, I am.

ps : no need for comments

Aurora! When you realize the perfection of the world you realize that to every word/reality there will be an opposite world/reality - to left there will be right, to mature there will be premature, to believer there will be non-believer - and not that there will be none.

Indeed the impulse to keep silent or do/say something like everything else belongs to the wholeness, but in my case having given me the glimpse of a state beyond (pair of opposite)words it tells me no longer to fall into their trap again, for, for every word/argument there will be an opposite word/argument. I have no objection who are saying/doing things otherwise. That must be their call provided by the wholeness.

dpk, Guru Teg Bahadur did not talk of magic but of miracles. If spoon bending is taken as unreal magic [I do not think Deepak believes that spoon bending magic is real.]then there is no problem with it. Everybody can enjoy the fun.

dear Harb,

Deepak
I am surprised that you are prepared to have skeptics (whatever they call them) experience the spoonbending phenomenon. We rarely hear about spiritually realized individuals boasting about this kind of thing. I find your writings intersting, original and helpful. But I get lost when you start making science out of it. I think that is what allowed skeptics to hijack all this discussion.
Anyway, your success will not satisfy skeptics. They will undoubtedly find something wrong. And your failure will not necessarily make your writings wrong for a lot of people like me.
Good luck.
Morris

btw. Diab, I found it hard to concentrate, as well.
Keith, no one says it like you!

uncle ed,

man i don't know how a spoon can bend like that!

if trick (or science) is not involved...i would like to see them bend a wooden spoon the same...that would be real spooky! damn!

Hi, Kate. Your name always hyperlinks to an unresolved webpage, http://kate.../ and I'm always curious about people's pursuits. Is it intended to link elsewhere?

Also, Morris #90, you put into perfect words my feelings about this recurring topic. This thing strikes me as pointless sophistry, having little to do with intention. ATTENTION, maybe. But not intention.

But it sure seems to liven things up a bit. And Our Father in Heaven knows that someone like me needs a little enlivening lately.

Dana

P.S. Last night, I handed a woman a purple passion flower during my lucid dream. I hand-crafted it especially for the occasion, and it was just beginning to open. I wanted to determine if an object of beauty could be passed from me to someone else, also, apparently, of my creation. She accepted the flower and clasped it with a smile.

But...I'm not certain that she'd have so gracefully accepted a mangled spoon.

Oops. I meant, graciously.

Dear Deepak,

This great!

I like what Morris Says(#90), "your success will not satisfy skeptics. They will undoubtedly find something wrong."

There are many skeptic magicians who can bend spoons without the needed power of mind.

*One thing you must tell the Skeptics is to BRING THEIR OWN SPOONS to rule out their doubt on that regard. (If you have any preference about the material or model and brand you can specify it.)

*Something I wish to personally see is to see you bend spoons!, that for me rules out trickery element of any third party mentalist who can fool everyone including YOU!

I am sure you will address these things!

Regards,
Ashiwini

Thank you for responding Deepak to all the comments, as I was wondering if you would. Personally, I believe you and you don't have to prove anything. Even Jesus would not perform for others or desire to, but sometimes he had to. But Jesus always said that if one was not a believer, then a sign would prove the truth. Well, I would think this would be a hard call and I admire your courage. But aren't you afraid? But I guess you have been in a lot of experiments and I think I read somewhere that you talked about remote viewing in a government project? I could be wrong with this and read so many things and maybe it was just remote viewing? So I guess you are safe and not worried? I would never do this (I don't think), but we all have own time and maybe you have had many and now is only one of them. Oh well, I guess I rambled enough. But just to say I love you! And to say thank you for all your kind help. Love, Char

CORRECTION, as this should read ... a sign would NOT prove the truth.

oh, would a plastic spoon also bend?

"oh, would a plastic spoon also bend?"

dude...all metals are 'plastic'(and elastic). Learn your science; plasticity, elasticity, ductility, malleability???

For the record: I cannot bend spoons but look very much forward to seeing it on video. :-)

ok smartass, how about a wooden spoon? same?

I think, lot of people are talking about magic, miracles and siddhi powers and how they are not consistent with spiritual values(to display such powers.)

They are all wrong if they understand Deepak's writings and his philosophy; power of mind over matter is not magic or miracles... it is 'reality' . There will be wider acceptance of this reality by our culture in the future.

Deepak's efforts on this front is not to gain attention but to give hope and awareness and enable many to handle everyday and global problems with greater vigor.

As per the skeptics, I don't think they can complain much if their concerns were addressed prior to the event. To think that there is no point in convincing the skeptic deniers(Ref. Morris #90) is basically a defeatist attitude.

Spot the deliberate mistake, eh, Diablo?

Hi Deepak, I was delighted to read your open offer to meet Skeptisch in New York. Although this meeting appears to be a 'duel' from which there will emerge a 'winner and loser' I know you have the intention for it to have significance way beyond that age old game. I hope everyone takes it in the new spirit. This scenario provides for a dramatic encounter which could contribute to the reconciliation of 'believers' and 'skeptics' of all kinds.

And I would like to offer my own respectful challenge to you Skeptisch if I may: is it possible that your attachment to scientific 'proof and reason' is a mixture of two components: i) an 'ego attachment' and ii) your love for a certain kind of truthful respected academic or philospher or man of science whose values you really identify with and admire?

Reading your posts and quotes of eminent scholars in support of your arguments, I am aware of the love and reverence you have for a certain culture of no nonsense realism. My sense is that you are reluctant to 'sell out' these philosophers you admire by shifting your ideas to a radically different more open position... closer to Deepak's for want of a better reference point - which ironically may in the end be more scientifically accurate. But have you the open mindedness to allow for that possibility?

I am curious to know if you would ever choose to undergo an experience which healed with love what might be an ego attachment to a scientific position. Would you agree that feeling loved and connected has a deep bearing on what one believes scientifically - or - are you of the opinion that one's beliefs remain fixed rigid ideas that do not shift at all no matter what one's emotional state or spiritual state?

Deepak is offering an opportunity for us all test this. The meeting in NY will be an opportunity for people to connect in a new spirit of consciousness and show that skepticism in certain forms no longer serves our need to evolve.

PS I am touched by the way some contributors to this thread have acknowledged to each other regret about writing in an ill considered uncaring or critical way.

It takes practise to speak your heart and let go all the stops while keeping in order one's darker instincts to blame or criticise. One of the many values of this Intent Blog is to provide a space where we can practise being honest .. and making the odd mistake without it being a permanent tragedy.

In this spirit, I would like to apologise to you Skeptisch for the part of a previous post I wrote in which I stuck you in the pidgeon hole of the dumb anti new age reviewer and challenged whether you had actually read any of Deepak's books or engaged with his ideas. In fact reading through more of your comments I realise that you have read much more than I gave you credit for ... Peace

Reading between the lines, it seems to me that Deepak owes this to Skep, since he refers back to a specific paragraph in 'the book.' That there was a fruitless exchange at the time is the only thing that explains to me why Skep has made such an issue of it.
Now, I wouldn't want to be apportioning blame in that. 'Owing' is perhaps more the 'timing' of the natural 'evolution' or ironing out of the disparities of inter-relationship for us all in this Almighty Drama. It has a script and we each have our role in time.

Dear Harb,

I understand and respect your experience and conclusions. Just for fun, may I offer you mine? After sitting there dazzled and paralyzed like a dark cave bug who suddenly saw the sun, after wondering why on earth move a limb or the tongue ever again, I had to notice that if I don't interfere, if the "I" doesn't interfere in its good old logical and reasonable way deciding what I should or shouldn't do ... then the limbs will continue to do, and the mouth will continue to speak, and of course there will always be a left and a right... but not seen from the same old boring point :)))) There will always be differing opinions and viewpoints, but this ... thing... is not standing still. It is moving and expanding. So, I for one, let it move with me, through me and as me, exactly as it wants. It's lots of more fun than just sitting around.

Divya, you write:
"power of mind over matter is not magic or miracles... it is 'reality' . There will be wider acceptance of this reality by our culture in the future."

Absolutely! Mind over matter is actually mind becoming matter. It happens all the time, right now. It is no magic, no more magic than the thought of a school test giving a boy a tummy ache. Many of us are completely clear about that, and many more will, including scientifically inclined people.

This doesn't mean that miracles don't happen, they do. Miracles are another word for profound transformation and deep healing of the mind and heart. Love is what performs them.

"Spot the deliberate mistake, eh, Diablo?" says granpa ed...

granpa..ed...why do u think it was a deliberate mistake? what purpose wud that serve? i don't get it...please explain, eddie! maybe the guy is smart enough to hack and whack computers to use multiple aliases who suddenly appear and curiously disappear...like magic...did u notice, granpa...whoa!

says aurora...

"This doesn't mean that miracles don't happen, they do." ok then...examples?

dear Deepak and Skeptisch,
I will be in NYC Jan. 11-14
any chance of your meeting then?
(and this girl being
present :)
love,

Aurora :). Enjoy!

Examples, Diablo? Has anyone ever loved you, appreciated you, encouraged you, has anyone believed in you? What miracles did that produce in you? Or have you ever loved someone, a pet, a child, a plant... what did that do with you both? Have you ever asked love for anything? Have you noticed the answer? Was it not more than you could have even asked for?

Thanks Harb, you too :)

That's exactly what I was thinking about miracle and magic, but I had already left work and could not post. I do not see any difference between the two, nor mind over matter which it is, except the label. I think that maybe we call something a miracle when it's really big and touches hearts, as it seems to have a more powerful force behind it and magic might require more work or additional help, as the person maybe somewhat weak minded. Therefore, I think when someone or event is closer to the Source, then it's labeled a miracle and magic is just for fun or practice. Please note that I am talking about true magic (mind over matter) and not the fake magic of someone trying to trick others. Again, there are many labels for one happening.

As I was typing the above, my hearing kept going out, so I think I am suppose to mention that I had one little miracle happen to me when I first started my spiritual journey a little over 5 years ago, so here's the short story.

I had lost my father who shot himself and I could not stop crying, so I prayed to our Lord, as well as my mother/sister praying for me, and I repeated a mantra for 3 days, "God is Good. God is Great." And on the 3rd day, I received my hearing, as I was close to needing a hearing aide. In fact, for a while, my hearing became exceptional. This was when I began hearing angelic music and received guidance.

So that's my short version.

Well, that's what I think.

Love, Char

Here's an interesting site on miracles as I wanted to see what I could find .... so I'm off reading

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miracle

And here's the book mark for magic ...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_(paranormal)

Aurora...

u are back peddaling...u did not answer my question...u are getting philosophical...

how about a real tangible example...like a missing part of ur anatomy reappearing after u have lost it in a chain saw accident for example...

Well .... I might have been a little wrong with my definitions on miracles & magic. It's really hard to label the supernatural... In reading about magic, it appears that it requires a strong mind and/or maybe the help of a supernatural being, as I was thinking about the latter with a weak mind. And it seems that people do call events that are wonderful and great, a miracle. But I think the same forces are at play with both and maybe one and or the other, such as doing it alone with ones mind vs. getting help from God or gods or maybe nature and the natural forces. .... I suppose?

"Jesus is a miracle of love."

#110. Diablo, I was trying to get you off the hook. It was your mistake with #96 not#95 regarding "bring your own spoons." I was hinting at. damn, now Skep thinks I'm still harping on about his typo. He should be smiling now with the rest of us.

Yeah, sure..... you enjoy being on the hook and putting up a fight. Are you Pisces, Scorpio rising?

"I don't know why I love you like I do." (grandpa, singing in the shower!) Please report back to Aurora.

Eddie

What would Deepak Chopra say when this is all done?

1) One small bend to metal spoon, one giant boost to critical mass(of consciousness).

very funny, dude!

Ok spoon bending is great and all, but I knew that was possible anyway, you know what I want to see LAZARUS!! (you know what I mean), That's what I'll bundle up for, and come to the big apple to see..

Signs and wonders..

Love you

i never told you id be easy to plz..
hehehe

Love

Nothing less, Tammy. I do agree and wonder why Jesus wept. I think he wept for the world, which brings its death on Lazarus. This may be oh so subtle or in yer face on a cross.
The relinquishing of one's body is quite a different thing. Therein lies a deeper reality and the finest of distinctions.

I love your spirit, thanks for you,

Ed.

Yes, I believe he did cry for our pain, a collective pain, and I believe he was aware of this. I think it says he bore ALL burden.

Lazarus had been dead for three days when Christ called him by name to "get up" and he did.

Somewhere else in scripture he said that after he left he would send the holy spirit in his place and through this "we" would be able to do as he did..( raise the dead, heal etc.)

What do you think of this?

Love

Dear dpk

Thank you. How nice! And God bless and love back to you.

bonnie

just got in from a two-hour work out, feeling good.

yo, where are all these fly by night ids coming from and talking as if they are old timers? damn!

Um, ok.

I haven't been keeping up with it that much. You can hash it out with Skeptisch for those that are interested.

I don't agree with everything you say either, but so what. I still think you're a great guy who has helped a lot of people.

Put me in the critics(and still friends) category.

Cheers

"Somewhere else in scripture he said that after he left he would send the holy spirit in his place and through this "we" would be able to do as he did..( raise the dead, heal etc.)

I think it is open to interpretation. They were words for his time, perhaps adapted down through the millenniums. I do believe in the Holy Spirit, another Comforter but I think now we might be calling it 'Quantum Soup,' prayer being the power of intention! As for raising the dead, well some seem to come close to that with near-death-experience. My point, above post, was that we don't even have to die in first place which may mean that we have only ourselves to 'raise.'
We start out 'believing' in death and pursue our lives unconsciously, accordingly. We drag each other down with the stress! In a sense, we are thus already dead because it is woven in to the 'Quantum Soup' by our feedback. So it is our mutual selves we need to perform the miracle on. This is always a co-operation of the whole. No one is an island.
Love is the great Healer! All things are possible when we materialise the potential energies that link us as One.

Well, that's my woo for the day, ha.

Diablo,

you seem to be very young and maybe haven't had the chance to observe the real miracles yet. I understand that it sounds like philosophy to you, but I am convinced that life and your big heart will show you differently.

What you are asking for is not what I call miracles - it is such that is normal as soon as you've understood how it works. I have examples, friend, but as even a poor old bent teaspoon can produce a storm in a teacup, I'll hold my horses for now. Again Diablo, my advice would be to keep your eyes open for the real, invisible, miracles in your life (like the one of grandpa Edmund ;):)).

DPK,
you are picking up threads, weaving a fabric :) You have the eye of an artist, thank you!

Hypocrite,
oh man...you're funny! (((Thanks))) for the laugh :)

Thanks everyone, I'd really love to meet you all!

#137 was true and beautiful, Edmund! No woo at all :)

FORK
~~Charles Simic

This strange thing must have crept
Right out of hell,
It resembles a bird's foot
Worn around the cannibal's neck.

As you hold it in your hand,
As you stab with it into a piece of meat,
It is possible to imagine the rest of the bird:
Its head which like your fist
Is large, bald, beakless, and blind.

The hand that holds the spoon, the spoon, the bending of it, the recording of it, and the witness to the phenomenon are all subjects of Maya. In fact the phenomenon of spoon bending is a non event. The fancy for and the opinions for and against spoon bending as a phenomenon is more like a Victorian fetish of leisurely and indulgent minds.

It is great to read through a thread and find no serious mud slinging going on.

Maybe the spoon has already been bent.

Diablo:

I think the wood is probably "plastic" when it has life coursing through its veins. After that, "I'm not sure".

I'm definitely not a material scientist.

I'd be more impressed to see a wooden spoon bend and I left the Catholic church because the bread never seemed to feel like flesh on my tongue.

Hello Everyone!!!

I think this is the perfect audience for a new Reality show on cable called America's Psychic Challenge which runs on Friday nights and the repeat I believe is on Tuesdays on Lifetime.

It's absolutely incredible!

Psychics compete in different types of challenges so you get to see what abilities these psychics actually have. One of the things you'll quickly notice is that they are not perfect but they are without a doubt extemely gifted. There is no arguing that these people have abilities above and beyond the average being. It's in all of us to a greater or lesser degree. These individuals have just learned to tune into it much better than most of us.

Check this competition out and let your family and friends know about it. If ratings are high enough, I'm sure this show will be on regularly.

yo Turgid,

if wooden spoon is plastic, then people are plastic...do u know any plastic people?

LPB: I think the wood is probably "plastic" when it has life coursing through its veins. After that, "I'm not sure". #145

Ref. 98, 99, 101

All materials including metals and all types of wood are 'elastic' and 'plastic'(material sciences). But there is a threshold stress level beyond which materials fracture exhibiting 'brittleness'.

Metals are highly elastic under strain and exhibit high plasticity(bending) before they fracture(break) under heavy stresses, (See the spoon breaking video posted by Baby D)

Wood is elastic(tends to regain its original shape) but less plastic(i.e. it doesn't bend and remain in the same position), but it is highly brittle(tends to break without deforming)

Diablo: if wooden spoon is plastic, then people are plastic...do u know any plastic people?
***

Humans are plastic too. Ever had your nose flattened? Or understand the meaning of 'plastic surgery'? Humans are brittle too. Ever broke your bones? Humans are elastic too. Did you ever pinch your skin? (or had sex)

***

You cannot permanently bend (deform) a wooden spoon but you sure can break it. But is it easier to bend/break a metal spoon than break a wooden spoon is tough to answer. The question of leverage and nature of forces, strain and stresses are to be taken into account. I think it is toucher to break wooden spoon the way mentalists do it.

One must apply Hooke's Law to see the strength of the material of the spoon. Maybe Deepak chopra can throw some light on the science involved here. That way Skeptisch can bring his own spoons with the shape, material and size within the recommended levels.

Dear Deepak,
Are you able to meet with Skeptisch? I do hope so! (hint: Jan. 11-14 could be a great time for meeting)

Are you able to provide an experience where Skep can observe a spoon being bent by thought alone, with no use of the hands? (this is the only kind of spoonbending I have ever seen).

Thank you again for posting and for the gift of IB. I truly enjoy the time I spend here with you - and with the ones who comment!

love,

To The Intent Of IntentBlog,

The Running Race

It was Sports day event at my kid’s school. All the children assembled and so do the parents and teachers. After the initial inauguration ceremonies, Head of the School announced “Our First item: Running Race of Pre KG students”. The Youngest of the school are arranged on the start line by teachers. They looked beautiful in their little uniforms…The teachers described there you have to reach the finish Line. They nodded their heads…

Get set Go…All started running, some clasping their hands with friends. The parents, teachers, elder students were cheering them. We can see the anxious faces of parents about their child. Everyone was looking on who will reach first. They asked them to run alone and fast. Some were faster than others. Then they stop to look back seeing some friends delaying, they wait…The fans (devotees) to each kid got irritated they said “run fast don’t stop”. Kids won’t hear. They can’t understand their language. They wait and again start to run, then stop at last they found a solution they all hold their hands together and began to run.

Of course they reached the finish line happily….It was now the teachers in difficulty “Who won The Game” When the question was still in air, we could see little ones playing happily among themselves.

Diablo..."Did you ever pinch your skin? (or had sex)? ask Divya!

yo old girl...damn! i will answer the question but only if u first apply it to urself...u seem to be one who is always dreaming about sex? no? whoahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Dear Deepak,
Happy Birthday!

Hey, there's a magic contest being aired on one of the major TV networks this Wed., Oct. 24, at 8p/7c (read it in a mag) to where one of the illusionist bends spoons (maybe one of the guys above that people where talking about?) and the other illusionist and judge is Cris Angel. If my manual TV antenna works this Weds & it does not pick up the station in Spanish, I look forward to watching it (free TV) as I don't watch it anyway, so I don't pay for it.

Sorry ... a little correction on the time, which is at 8 PM EST / 7 PM CST on NBC. So that makes it 5 PM PST, so I will miss the show! Bummer...

Hello Deepak,
Did you enjoy a nice Birthday?

Are you reading this post anymore?

"May roses shed their fragrance and
birds sing all the way,
as good friends walk beside you
to add
joy to every Day".

love,
~ Kate

Dear Kate,
I happened to see your post. Maybe you'd like to check this link:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/

and then join me in sending love and prayers to everyone in Southern California.

Hi Deepak,

I've been wanting to thank you for your comment in the sea of spoonbending dialogue:

"I know I have been guilty of sarcasm and comments that are not necessarily nurturing and I sincerely apologize for that."

You model humility and that is powerful.

I'm looking forward to weaving threads of inspiration with you, Caroline Myss and others I haven't met yet at the Celebrate Your Life conference in Scottsdale next month.

May that time/place be uplifting. And...actually...that thread is already in process if time is a continuum.

Trish~~

Hello Everyone,

Hey there Skeptisch, unless you are going to inform us folks here at IB the date and time of your meeting with Deepak and the number of spoons you are bringing with you....please just button it up on the subject...since the hot air isn't good for the fires in Calif. or here at IB.

So, when are you meeting up with Deepak? date and time please....we are all ears!!

ruth

Nice idea.

I would like to see Skep, Deepak Chopra and Michael Shermer on Larry King Live in the CNN NY Studio. I am sure Deepak can bend a spoon with his mind, it has to be a trivial thing for him to do if not for the "millions" of layman believers.

You GO baby! YEAH! Love THAT one..

is that u ravi? damn!

Well, now I must comment again on this thread.

First, I will say that I am not aware of Deepak participating in this event, but it was some of the bloggers at chopra.com several years ago. And no, I did not see it, but I saw the results of it.

Some of the guys picked a specific time and day to meditate to bend a spoon they each had at their own homes, as they were obviously at many different locations around the world. I did not participate.

When I got up the next morning, all my spoons were slightly bent. At first, I thought my roommate when mad, who did not know about the event, nor my involvement with chopra.com as far as blogging. In fact, I really saw my roommate. And no, I cannot prove anything.

Then I thought about the chopra.com guys little experiment and thought they did it on purpose at first and felt that they cruelly targeting me, as I was talking about Jesus Christ and the Bible all the time.

So I went on the chopra.com blog that night and read that they all felt that their event was a failure. At this time, I knew that I was not being specifically targeted which was a relief. But I never mentioned it, as I felt it could be an abuse of power by those who were not at a high level of love and felt it was more on the ego side and still do somewhat.

Anyway one of those people is beside herself on this new revelation of information that I had shared earlier and has appeared to have forgotten the heart, as I had suspected would be the case. I could be wrong, but my gut tells me otherwise. I should have never said anything, but only did so in defense of Deepak, as I do not believe that a man of his spiritual statue would abuse that kind of power.

In fact, when one has power, they know not to utilize it - there in lies the temptation. This saddens me. However, on the flip-side, it fascinates me. The Bible talks about people being interested in magic during the end times, regardless what name we want to call mentalists. I don't think we are suppose to use this energy, but it is suppose to be a natural outcropping of our growth, i.e., like eating and sleeping are to us now.

So obviously, I am torn into pieces on this matter. But it's too late to retract. Maybe it's meant to be and maybe we will all do it. Hey, maybe it will be our new warfare, as we play with a new weapon. But I guess that's how babies learn to become toddlers as they become skilled at using the spoon to feed themselves.

Love, Char

Correction: "Rarely" saw my roommate or spoke to him.

Re: 117 Char

The thought process involved in believing in even the tiniest miracle.......or saying that everything is a miracle..... is the same illogic as the thought process involved in believing in big miracles.

How would your life be if you could give up the idea of miracles.....and the idea of a stable psychological center to whom they could apply?

Could you live with that?
