Mayberry RFiD

Renee Reeser Zelnick - October 25, 2007

I vant to be alone!
I love my privacy! Hell, I love YOUR privacy. And chips.
Casino chips, poker chips, tortilla chips, potato chips.
But I draw the line at Radio Frequency IDentification chips!
They suck with salsa! And I don’t want one in my body!
If I wanted implants, I'd call Dr. 90210!

These Super Spy Chips are already invading our personal space. These sly buggers (or bugs) are Big Brother in a tiny package. Which is why I really don’t want one put into my body, as companies like Applied Digital Systems hope to gain government contracts to do.

RFID technology operates by incorporating electromagnetic or electrostatic coupling in the radio frequency (RF) portion of the electromagnetic spectrum to pinpoint and identify an object, animal, or person. Retailers are already using RFID an alternative to the bar code.

These puppies are already in, well, puppies. Lots of veterinarians offer the service of injecting a chip in your pet, so if Rover gets lost and turned in to the pound, he’ll get scanned and you’ll get a phone call to come pick him up!
They are also in the new US passports and quite possibly your sweatshirt or hoodie. KSW-Microtec, a German company, invented washable RFID tags to be sewn into clothing, and Wal*Mart has already taken advantage. Gillette recently purchased 500 million RFID tags from Alien Technology of Morgan Hill, California. While we do have an Austrian Alien running the Golden State
( anyone remember what happened the last time we let one of those guys be in charge? ), the California Senate recently passed SB 362, a ban on forced RFID implantation for companies requiring employees to implant RFID chips in their bodies. Earlier this year, North Dakota banned forced RFID implantation in humans. Wisconsin passed similar legislation in 2006. Colorado, Ohio, Oklahoma and Florida are also debating this legislation.

In places like Ibiza, nightclubs implant chips in the palms of VIP members so they can pad their tabs with a wave of the hand.

I don’t need to be that cool. Ever.

I’m moving to Mayberry.

hi Renee,
it's good to see you again at IB!
I love chips,
salsa
and
tequila on the rocks
( only occasionally :)

but
can we really resist
technology
?

I SPY
has been around
for quite
a while!

love,
~ Kate

I too will draw the line
on chip
implants,
but
maybe an alternative could work:

in the form of an
enchanced
earring stud,
that hones in on
....
hmmm,
the possibilities are endless
:)

Hi Renee

RFID's have many useful applications, but I tend to agree with you regarding humans.

So, if you you can find your way back to Mayberry without a GPS, would you let me know via snail mail where it is so I can join you.

Thanks
Bonnie

I can't help remembering Arnold Schwarzenegger in Kindergarten Copy imploring, "It's not a toomah."

It's good news that they're so quickly finding out that the teacher is mistaken. It is, in fact, a tumor. A tumor caused by RFID.

A local woman raises goats and is protesting NAIS (National Animal Identification System). She has a small farm with many cedar trees. Her action against the government puts her farm at-risk.(NoNAISWA.org) Pat also makes nice goat milk soap.(www.kinderzed.com)

Last night some of us with a local Alliance watched a movie called Mondovi about the globalization of wine.

I love whole systems but this take-over and control is not the same.

Thanks for bringing this up, Renee!

Hi Renee,

I actually grew up in a small town called Mulberry which was later consumed by a larger city. I appreciate your concern and have the same. I am hoping that it will play in my (our) favor.

I first started working creating an RFID system in 2001. I developed a Global Cattle tracking system that worked. It is in partial use but by it's very nature it was never adopted because it created TRANSPARENCY and some people in the industry did not want others including consumers to know and see what they were doing.

I was really forward thinking because I designed it to also track Green House Credits and Carbon Offsets related to cattle. It also tracked every disease condition, treatment, drug or hormone given to an animal.

Before that I had I had designed and implemented a vehicle tracking system and plan asset management system for one of the big three.

When Wal-Mart announced it's RFID system I predicted it would not work based on it's design and I was correct to this day and it is not working very well. When I was designing the tracking system I increased the requirements probably ten fold, also adding my own for such a system.

Later some interesting things happened with the Global Cattle tracking system, a new CEO from Alexandria (home town of intelligence) and I was allotted 8 hours to turn the system and explain the system to these NSA contactors. This was not enough time (about 100 hours short) so I don't know that they ever understood the hidden complexity of the design or the methodology. I didn’t put forth any extra effort either and documentation was lacking because they never wanted to budget the time for it due to a desire for profit.

I am by nature a bit of an anarchist and privacy advocate most technical people are.

The good thing is that I realized I was designing a system that could be used to empower Big Brother so I designed it to do the opposite and disempowered big brother (engineering BB and centralized control out of the system) yet at the same time it meets the requirements and intended benefits of such a system. They whoever they are, did not know that privacy was inherent in the design of the system.

Actually looking into the future I saw that privacy and autonomy requirement to be imperative for it to be adopted and accepted by the industries, the general population and for data to be shared between countries and companies so I designed it into the system.

The producer of data is the controller of their data through out the system and only they can grant permission to their data which has five layers of security two of them unique in nature. It is also is based on the fact that people don’t need to know your actual age, they only need to know if you are licensed to drive or eligible for social security. They don’t need to know where you live but only which state you reside in or whether or not you are a citizen of that country.

I consider centralized micro control of a population to be a threat to National Security and the Constitution of the United States, and an impairment to human evolution, and most of all a threat to individual freedom. It is also a threat to Free Speech with is a requirement for Democracy.

In summary I have been developing a much expanded extensible Global Object Tracking system that protects privacy and disables Big Brother Centralized Control and Monitoring. It cannot be hacked without extraordinary resources and energy so that hacking it would not be cost effective based on the amount of return.

I have also developed an encrypted RFID methodology that actually prevents other third parties from reading and knowing what is in your purse.

In relationship to the individual, the rest of the world is on a NEED TO KNOW BASIS, that “need to know” being determined and defined by the individual.

So I am hoping that the privacy concerns will lead to my system being adopted.

I am looking for partners and investors and they can email me at mr.richardthomas@gmail.com

Other than that I don’t consider injecting an RFID into the body to be healthy, we have biometrics which this system supports, biometrics is not hidden and allows the user to know and submit their ID when they choose to, and the user must permit the knowing of their identity.

In fact we don't need to know who you are just that this fingerprint has the right to drive or enter this country.

There is some other insider insight I might share here later, no big secrets though, if someone entrusts me with a secret it remains one, being trusted is a very important asset.

One day there will not be a need to keep anything secret, when there is no longer any fear on the planet.

THE GREAT DUST STORMS coming may dwarf the RFID issue. Read your dust bowl history they affect entire nations.

Climate change may force massive migrations of people and buisness in the United States and the world as people seek water.

The place to be is the Great Lakes Region and the Ohio valley where there is a lot of fresh water that is required for life. Many states will be very short on this resource as the drought conditions increase.

Planning for adaptation and mobility starts now.

Richard, I heartily agree. The climate changes we're facing dwarf the RFID debate. The other day, I imagined that HOLLYWOOD sign burned to the ground, something that would definitely help us realize the shifting sands on which we stand.

However devastating all these events are, the good news is that each one probably represents another vote in the aye column.

If we wind up living in an atmosphere like Venus, it won't matter one bit whether something's tagged or not.

Some people try to control through technology. Why? Is it based on fear? Mother Nature is in control and she is reminding us of that. Is the ongoing lesson to learn to listen to Her respectfully. Who is willing to be so humble? Who is willing to turn away from clever schemes that are destroying natural systems? Who is willing to evolve?

Trish~~

You ask about technological control. You've hit the ultimate emotion, fear. But above it, on a more surface level, lies control and greed.

Data is money. If you can relate mountains to molehills, there's apt to be some money in it for you. There are also predictive advantages when you've got a deep database (I.E. the law of large numbers).

Anyway, it's about money, which, as you said, is about fear. Fear of death.

I completely agree with your rejection of these chips, but I do have a question:
- why is in necessary to take cheap shots at "Austrian Aliens" ?
As an Austrian, I find that very offensive.
- would you dare to make similarly derogatory remarks about an african american?
- why does politcal correctness somehow stop with Austria - most of whose citizens, btw. are way too young to have even been born during Hitlers time.
- If you dislike Arnold for his personality, his politics, whatever, then fine, go ahead and have at him, but please stop with the cheap shots concerning his accent and his nationality!

are humans getting too smart for their own good?

Friends-
i apologize for the delay-
