Arsenio Rodriguez - November 25, 2007
A long longing it has been,
betrayed only by my own partying.
Unavoidable it was,
since growing
does takes place in time.
We speak in turns, and say what we must.
Negotiating each word of praise and complaint
Playing the games we trust.
We have become so many anyhow,
that there is no way of discerning our
point of departure.
In this rapture of living
we have just forgotten Being.
Oh well, it is meant after all,
part of the needed entertainment to Be.
So let’s keep up pretending, this you, this me.
Rolling down the hills of least effort,
sometimes waking up to loss of comfort.
Not knowing, but pretending we do,
till sometimes an absolutely humble mood,
ambushes us in the backyard, as we walk.
Cell phone in hand, full of purpose and command,
we suddenly crumble and cry out -from the heart.
Every cloud laughs then in puffs, wind huffs in leaves,
and birds sing melodies of partnership,
of lovers seeking warmth
and company.
It is not an epiphany,
just this daily bread of frustration and enthusiasm,
combined in one stroke,
where life becomes both gross and sublime,
at the same time.
Then maps form in brains
as word’s litanies are repeated
in a cacophony, of self interest,
of why me,
or of look at what I have done…
Yet.
We fall on knees of memory,
of mothers hands, embraces of God.
Nothing remains then
just felt tranquility.
Everything is all right.
Alright.

Knowing so much
Missing basic knowledges
My hearth stepping some beats
In a replacement of silence
Life crisped intensively in a flash
Showing a lesson
The rail-track became a knowledge
The open-wind a strange eye-attention
Inside the evening smooth-charm
A white-angel delightful snow-mosaic
The middle or maybe nowhere
Witness of movements-animations
I am there, I know
But the way I see it now
I am not sure if a knowledge can be applied
How come, nobody told before
This unknown
Giving birth to tic-tac naked-letting go actions
Moments based on clear-nothing...
The primordial knowledge
My liberty
I feel it...
Life is by our side
By my side
Go away
I am getting out
I want my heart decide
The next steps-symphony
Of happiness...
Dear Arsenio, your poems are so overwhelming that I most often can't utter anything except... "yes!".
:)
YESTERDAY'S NEWS
Keep America beautiful - yesterday's news
The war on poverty - yesterday's news

The war on drugs - yesterday's news
Psychopaths, sociopaths
Dysfunction, injunctions
No, everything is not alright
Not til every wave is abated,
And the sea calm once more,
Will everything be alright

Beautiful!
ON PRAYER
Knock on the door
Peep in
Lift up the latch
Walk in
The maggid may be coming in the door
The maggid may already be in the house
And I thought I was talking to someone else

In coming back from the holidays, I find two treasures from Arsenio. What a treat! I feel as tho I do a dishonor to another if I cannot return a gift of poetic words, but I have none to share in my emptiness today. However, I am writing just to say 'thank you' for words that dance in the beauty of your songs.
Love, Char
