Was surfing youtube when I encountered this movie. I asked my friend to watch it and he said the movie is - "insanely provocative."

I suddenly remembered the graphic novel Watchmen after viewing this.

#1 Really Nice movie .Has many ones Qs in it..Has questioned double stranded theories.

As for 2nd part person seems to too much obsesses with astronomy/astrology that he forgets human. Anyway nice quest. I don't know that jesus was actually born 25th or is it just a day chosen.Too many Dec25th may be reincarnations :).

As for virgin birth there are so many such stories in mahabharata, son of sun's spirit/wind's spirit etc.

My personal opionion don't gave too much to virginity of body than mind. There are too many innocents who lose it without their fault. And others vigin on body not of mind.

Anyone interested about christianity can read Theresa of avila or john of cross books and also bhakthi yoga of hinduism will find similarity one with jesus image other with krishnas. But eventually all seeing/feeling same.

Don't get disheartened by people bending religion .Obession of power sometimes our mind do pretty plays on us.Don't be afraid to question bcoz someone will punish, ask u will get answer.Rules are for men ,men are not for rules. Frightful god of Moses has bcom loving father of jesus.Levels of spiritual growth. In hinduism we call it different levels of bhakti.Jesus was more near to him bcoz he went near.

love others as ur self : Only one law .easily said. But do we love ourselves to love others. And ofcourse what is Love..Is that likes /lust of mind?Or what

dear Edmund,
I love the poems you post.

It's a misty evening, and the cool refreshing dewdrops,

A couple of interesting things rose to the top over at Digg. They deal with corporate social responsibility (it doesn't HAVE to be an oxymoron), and an analysis of recycling, its history, and whether it is actually helping society to have curbside recycling programs (they are English, apparently, so they call it "kerbside programmes"). The ads for Chevron are kind of creepy, but the article I think still has good info (even if none of it is new), and both articles have a basically positive tone.

The Corporate Social Responsibility post is supposed to be the first in a series, so I've bookmarked it to see how it develops. The first one is more a less just an introduction explaining the concept.

What is corporate social responsibility?

The reason the Christ turn over tables and made a fuss that day was because people were " defiling the temple" What is the temple? YOU are! they were "selling" there goods.
Not because they were on some special church grounds.

Something for you to mull over my dear.

I want to see that chat with you and Mr. Cooper, are you gonna post it? Please, or a link would be good.

How to Settle Your Mind

How to settle your own mind at rest,
The secret lies in letting go,
Making no strain, doing nothing,
Like sleeping child you should do so.
Like calm ocean without waves,
Like a brilliant lamp without wind,
Rest your mind in peace.
Like corpse without pride,
Rest it steadfastly.
Like sea without tide,
Free from any kind of grind.
Do you know how thought arises?
Like dream is without substance,
Like the vast sunless heaven,
Moons seen in outer distance,
Like the rainbow of maya,
We could not find certain source.
When the light of wisdom shines,
They disappear, no more trace.
Do you know how to cope with thoughts?
Try to see the versatile clouds,
Yet from sky they are not apart,
Try to see the waves of the sea,
Yet from sea they are not apart.
Try to see the heavy thick fog,
Yet from air it is not apart.
Thus the frantic runs in nature.
Yet from nature it is not apart.
He who can weigh the awareness,
Will know mind is rising in breath.
He who seeks sneaking thoughts like thieves,
Will know to watch this subtle mischief.
He who finds the thought running outside,
Knows the simile of dove and boat in tide.
Do you know how to act and comprehend
Like a bold lion, a drunken elephant,
Shadow in mirror and lotus in mud?
Thus you may act the same yet different.
Do you know how to get the attainment,
Dharmakaya gained in non-discernment,
Sambhogakaya through the blissfulness,
Nirmanikaya - one ray of enlightenment,
Shajakaya through the innateness.
Of these four ones I have the achievement.

All Indians, especially Indians from Punjab, including Deepak Chopra and family, will be proud to read the following-

Portrait of Hon. Congressman Dalip Singh Saund Unveiled in the U.S. Capitol

Washington, November 12, 2007 - Under the dome of the capitol building, son of Punjab was honored in the Rayburn Room of the US Capitol. The official portrait of the late Dalip Singh Saund, the first Indian-American and also the first Asian-American congressman was unveiled. Nearly 200 Indian-Americans from across the country, including several Sikhs in colorful turbans, along with several US lawmakers packed the room during the unveiling ceremony. Saund was elected to House of Representatives in 1956 from California and represented 29th district in California from 1957 to 1963.

Portrait of Congressman Saund being unweiled by his grandson
while Congressman Honda standing at right.

In addition, Saund’s daughter, Ellie Saund Ford, five grandchildren, including the eldest grandson Eric Saund and several great-grandchildren participated in the ceremony.

Jon Friedman, a portraitist, landscape painter and sculptor who sketched this official potrait of Congressman Dalip Singh Saund, said that “it a great honor."

Friedman acknowledged that he had "never heard of Dalip Singh Saund and so I knew nothing about his extraordinary life." He said that in the process he also educated himself about the Indian-American community, the immigrant experience of the Sikhs who came to the US over 100 years ago and the struggle Saund had waged to stave off discrimination. The artist has painted many miniature figures on the side panel to detail the progression of journey of his life. With the Sikh symbol of Khanda, from his farming family in Punjab, young Dr. Saund in turban, Gandhi, Lincoln who had influenced his thinking, Judge Saund for Congress and his distinguished service culminating as a Congressman in the magnificent dome of the Capitol Hill are painted with great finesse.

Congressman Joe Wilson, Amardeep Singh of Raaj Khalsa Gurdwara in Virginia, Congressman Ed Royce of Los Angeles area and Dr. Rajwant Singh infront of the Saund potrait.

Hon.Mike Honda, the Congressman from California, who himself is of Japanese origin, was the Master of Ceremonies. He started this historical moment with the Sikh greeting ‘WaheGuru ji ka Khalsa and Wahe Guru ji ki Fateh!, welcomed the audience and introduced members of the Saund family.

Congressman Jim McDemott, Washington Democrat, and co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian-Americans, who kicked off the celebration, kicked off the celebration by saying Sat Shri Akal and said “We stand before the portrait of a man who stood the test of time and his portrait will inspire people to achieve their dreams. Hon. Saund, a man of humble beginning rose to fame. He nurtured equality and justice. He was a trail blazer and his sense of purpose flowered when he became the Congressman. His power to make the difference regardless of whether you have turban or brown skin was amazing.”

Congressman Jim McDemott speaking at the occasion

Congressman Joe Wilson of South Carolina, the Republican co-chair of the India Caucus, had waged a campaign over three years for the placing of Saund's portrait on Capitol Hill, declared, "What a wonderful person he was, what a pioneer, what a great American hero he is."

He proudly declared that it was not Democratic or Republican move to install the portrait of Hon. Saund. It was a bi- partisan effort. The seed sown by Hon. Saund is showing result today as Bobby Jindal, another son of Punjab, has become Governor of Louisiana. He said that “Hon: Saund made profound difference in the political process of the country. He fought tirelessly for the rights of immigrants. We have come a long way since but we have a long way to go.”

Eric Saund, the oldest grandson of Hon. Dalip Singh Saund, who has launched a website also for his illustrious grandfather, spoke very eloquently about him.

Hon. Mike Honda declared that it was a moment when history was made. Hon: Saund was the first Asian to be elected to the House but should not be the last. He implored the Sikhs to continue to educate the wider American public about them. Although Sikhs are in this country for over 100 years and are no strangers but it is recently that issued concerning them have been highlighted. The sacred 5ks of the Sikhs should be recognized, the challenges after 9/11 have to be addressed and onus is on the Sikh community to let Americans know about them selves.

Closing remarks were paid by Congressman Hon. Robert Brady who underscored many similarities between his life and that of Hon: Saund and concluded that the portrait of Hon: Saund would be a beacon of hope and inspiration for the generations to come.

Dr. Rajwant Singh and Amrit Kaur with daughter of Congressman Saund and family members.

Commenting on this grand occasion, Amrit Kaur, Secretary of Guru Gobind Singh Foundation, said, “This is a moment of pride for all the immigrants in general and for the Sikhs in particular. A son of the soil of Punjab rose to so much imminence and grandeur which is to this day unparallel in history. The portrait of Honorable Dalip Singh Saund will be a fountain head of inspiration and optimism for the future generations to come. Congressman Saund believed in American ideals of equality and justice because his personal moorings were embedded in his Sikh faith which taught him the same values from early childhood.”

“We thank the U.S. Congress for honoring the true hero of America. This is a great gift to the community. Honor to Mr. Saund is a matter of special pride for Sikh s in the U.S. His life, struggle and success continue to inspire the American Sikh s to work hard to create a place of respect and admiration for their community. He is not only a symbol of hope and inspiration for all South Asians but he is the most loved and remembered leader in California” said Dr. Rajwant Singh, Chairman of the Washington based Sikh Council on Religion and Education.

Speaker Pelosi released a statement which also described it as "truly a historic day. It is my pleasure to welcome to the Capitol of the United States, the People's House, the portrait of the first Asian-American member of Congress, the Honorable Dalip Singh Saund."

Pelosi also described Saund's life as "the American dream" and said here was "an immigrant from India, he came to this country to further his education and worked hard to build his life and care for his family, despite the discrimination that many Asians faced during the 1920s."

#5 Dear Kate,

to me you do
appear to be,
poetry
in motion

my last
was found
to weave around,
that notion.

Warm is the blanket glow.

X

My axe mistook my foot for a piece of knotty sourwood, evidently, and glanced the one and struck my boot, severing it clean open.

What of me? This stuff pouring out to the dirt? Did I lose me somehow? Did this flow rob me of my song? Am I less?

I swear a multitude of words have I forgotten. My good sense has fled as well.

That knotty firewood on the hillock does remain blunt, unburnt, unchanged.

#5 Dear Kate,

to me you do
appear to be,
poetry
in motion

my last
was found
to weave around,
that notion.

(Dear Edmund, may I now add few lines...)

warm is the blanket glow
I feel you in my arms somehow
soft, smooth, silky like eel
how romantic now do I feel

Note: Kate and others, please continue with this poetry in motion... talk of moon and stars in skies, murmur of brooks running by... etc, or anything...

Are you love starved for poetry darlin? it sounds so, I can't write you one now,
( not in the mood ), but YOU are the reason there IS poetry! Know that!

Love

Inspired by someone here

Poetry exists
because I exist
or I exist
because poetry exists
isn't hard to know somehow

you're my poetry
my dear darling
I exist because you exist
don't die dear darling
for whom would I live then
only my other love knows!

Stay with me too
beloved
forever in the rainbow shadow
I am.
You are all color
new one, old one
All of form and light..

my sweet rainbow darling
I like your colors
violet to red

I can no longer

wait in the shadows
I'd love to love
you in your bed

Note:
Not addressed to anyone
No innuendo, whatsoever
Only a poem of love

Oooooooh how I wish
it
an innuendo for me.

Cold is the blanket snow
But snug the bugs below

danashields

Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!
Trusting there's enough
of you left
You just shared a little
with the earth.

Thanks, Bonnie. Luckily I got the thing sharpened last week (4 bucks and some change at the local hardware store) so that it was less blunt. Got me right betwixt the fourth and fifth metatarsel: NO BONES broken, so I'm making no bones about it whatsoever.

You're right. I've given it to the land. A lot of love and attention and now blood. We're soon about to lose our property due to foreclosure, but for some reason, I can't stop splitting firewood for the winter...and the next.

I just keep piling up more and more of it. I think I just want its next inhabitants to know that things were good here.

Because they really were.

And they will be for a long, long time.

hey,
where did the
rainbow go?
I feel you
fading fast
your love
will it last?

Yup.. right passed forever.

Remember Donna progression NOT regression!

Love

Hi there, Donna! So nice to see you again!

.

Dear Dana,

I am saddened by the news that you've brought to our attention.

Your losing the farm? And you almost lost a foot?

In this time of distraction I would hope you'd be very careful

if you intend to go about chopping more wood.

I pray that you find the silver lining in this

and that it will lead you to a better, more fortunate outcome.

I wish you and your family the best!

Sincerely, UT

Thanks, Keith.

For me, the silver lining of it is recalling the Tibetan monks who bless our town's lake and throw the sand from their mandala into it.

Their art was labor. It was a treasure. Yet they cheerfully bless the lake and release it. You realize, then, that it was no labor at all.

What's that old saying?

My Barn having burned to the Ground
I can now see the moon.

Thanks, Keith.

Is anyone old enough to remember ditto machines in school, recalling the teacher walking in with your freshly printed tests? All the students would smell their tests, I recall.

I can smell my test now!

dana

Here's to you aceing the test. Somehow, I know you will. You're just a little ahead of the curve. But you know that don't you.

Much love to you and yours dana.

bonnie

dear Dana,
your words are so rich
the moon has a way of finding us
dear one

and love for you and

So, I finally got round to sitting through Zeitgeist, The Movie, and recognised myself in it. It's just a matter of degree, darkness to light, light to darkness. Too much light calls for darkness, too much darkness calls for light. In each moment I must choose the degree according to my lot.

Should I choose twilight?

Care to dance Edmund?

The wingnut Republican Governor of the state Georgia, George Ervin Perdue, recently held a public prayer meeting to ask God for rain. He prefers to be called “Sonny”. Perhaps he should henceforth prefer to be known as “Rainy George”.

Hey George, where is the evidence that your god really answers prayers? (Oh, you beg to difffer!). George, if your god is an all-knowing, all-powerful, omniscient, omnipotent and omni-present entity, should he, she or it not know that Georgia needs rain? Why should it become necessary for you to hold a public prayer meeting when you could be tending to Georgia's other problems? Is your god asleep or too busy to notice, George? And did you forget to ask that other George to arrange intercessory prayer meetings for your state?

I do care but just as easily don't.(in a flash)
A dose of your spontaneity might go well with my twilight! Do you wear steel toecaps!?

Hugs for you,

Ed.

Thanks, Bonnie & Kate.

Happy, happy, happy.

Hi Edmund:

I am grateful to you for mentioning the movie "Zeitgeist".

It is a fascination documentary which most will find interesting, awe-inspiring and and arresting, particularly those determined to seek truth.

It is two hours long but well worth watching.

Skep, if you are around, I am certain you will find this movie one for the ages!

Regards,

Ron.

P.S.: You can simply Google Zeitgeist and get it!

Richard Dawkins writes about the actual meaning of the Zeitgeist in The God Delusion, but the movie is another matter.

Hey Ron!

November 13: The Power Of Prayer

Right here at IB...you must have read it, huh?

God forbid! Someone asked their 'higher power' for help.

Should we stone the gov. or what?

Does God answer prayers? Ron, that is hilarious!

I prayed last night that I would wake up today.

What gives?

Vox Humana

Smarter than your more than average, intelligent, great ape.

Aye, aye...we know it all, yet we continue to learn.

What's up with that? Have I been through this before, or what?

How do I know that what I know is gathered like dropped leaves

into a bushel heap resembling an intelligent quagmire?

I've fallen lately (in the past two or so days) into a state of nostalgia. I'm really drinking in any old stories people recall...stories that would seem wholely out of place today.

Jann told me one the other day.

One day, when she was a child, she was shopping with her mother in Grand Union. When they approached the checkout, a little girl who had been playing on the metal bars (remember those chrome metal bars dividing the checkout lanes?) and fell.

It was clear that she'd broken her arm.

So two guys who'd been stocking shelves cut a box, and handily shaped it into a split. Then they taped it to the girls arm so it was secure enough for the woman to take her daughter to the hospital.

Can you imagine that? For some reason, that just makes me laugh and laugh. They taped a section of box to her arm!

I am glad people are realizing the true nature of master Deepak Chopra. We are blessed to have him in our midst.

Master Chopra is a realized being whose service to millions to help them gain wealth, health, happiness is immeasurable.

There are scores of people like me who are leading a quality life and a creative life and a life filled with miracles and magic. Through his teachings I have experienced death of fear of death. With his guidance I have already started training, to experience heaven in life after death.

#44 is more than kind and generous.

It is astounding, but it leaves me bewildered.

Dear sanest of the sane: You need a leaf of nonsense.

Aloof of bread, you lick only jam.

Have a big glass of milk.

That way you can, at the least, wear a smile today.

Happy Friday!

Happy Payday!

My goodness, I get my name mentioned twice. I'm no Briteney Spears, to whom bad publicity is still good publicity.

In maybe 371 AD Emperor Constantine outlawed, (called it heresy), for Christianity to believe in reincarnation. So they never have since. The importance of Ram Dass, Indries Shah, and Deepak Chopra lies in the fact that they are educating the West with the wisdom of the East. The value of that is unquestionable.
And it has only been since the 1950's that many esoteric texts of several religions have been translated into English. The value of that is unquestionable.

Take for example the Terry Shiavo case. If the family really beleived in Heaven why would they stop the husband from letting her go after 15 years in a vegetative state. My guess is they had no real beleif. Heaven was just a word bound in a book.

I don't mean to sound harsh about the above case. Of course I understand their concerns. But our emotions are supposed to be guided by reason, and reason by our spiritual awareness.
Oh well. Uuck!

I take strong objection to people here being referred to as maggots.

Here's my message to all close minded skeptics:

If you are criticizing Deepak Chopta, most probably you are ignorant of his quantum consciousness which comes from giants like Einstein and Bohm or his philosophy which comes from Vedanta wisdom of the East. PERIOD

Inspirations from Sherry, #54

Jack and Jill
went up the hill
to have their fill

of erupting passions
while filling their passions
both rolled down the hill

and landed near a gas station
so hot were they all gas went
on fire putting out their emotions

from the fires came a voice -
control your desires, children
only in pray lies the salvation

listening to God's holy voice
they quit all lustful ways
prayed and prayed till old age

and did later go to heaven
that hill where went Jack and Jill
is now a shrine for revelations

Very interesting story.

hithereall,

Just checking in...only have a few minutes to spare....but I noticed this remark taken from a William Tracy who posted on www.huffingtonpost.com and I thought it was kind of funny, and, well, sad too. I must admit, I haven't been watching the debates, maybe just doing a quick look-see when they are on but for the most part I haven't been watching and there are a number of reasons why but basically I think all the questions and answers are pretty much BS with the candidates saying all they need to in order to get a vote..Obama says he will end the war pronto....he is full of poop we all know he can't just walk out of Iraq because he wants to and Edwards says health care for all....well, sure..I'll hold my breath....Clinton... what will she do...actually, I do not have a clue what she will do but at least she will not march arrogantly into an abyss of hate and mayhem just because she can because she has the most powerful military machine at her beck and call....thank god for that little tidbit of info.

so, this is what I read and I think it says alot about our political machine...meaning we already know the outcome and there are no surprises to look forward to and that is kind of funny and kind of sad and kind incredibly unmotivating.

by William Tracy..
"Okay, Senator Clinton, here's the deal: You're going to be the nominee. I know it. You know it. The American people know it. So just close your eyes, spin around a couple of times, point at somebody to be your running mate, and let's get this fucking thing over with so we can watch the Dallas-San Antonio game on TNT."

Hey D.A.!

The TREE above is mine, but I shall stop using that 'screen name'.

The same low-life, or low-life's, invade our privacy as before.

Why he/she hasn't used my 'real' name yet, I have no clue.

It has nothing whatsoever with what she/he says, does it?

Since Diablo has supposedly quieted down, out of respect,

I give up the right and the patent to sign in with TREE.

I imagine Kate is alright with that. If Kate is still Kate.

.

And dear friend, Edmund:

I have to wonder about you lately,

which causes me to recreate the past.

That's always such a chore!

The Zeitgeist movie was very good. It should be basic education for everyone, along with a couple of the 911 truth videos.

Zeitgeist tied up a lot of strands of research, each of which can be delved into deeply on the net (history of religion, history of warfare, the nature of the monetary system, research into Pearl Harbor, 911, Gulf of Tonkin, etc)

Also recommended on google video is "The Power of Nightmares" which analyzes the simultaneous evolution of Neocon politics in the west with Islamic extremism in the east.

This stuff is basic to being an informed citizen, but we don't get it in the MSM.

I'm always mystified by the worship/hate of Deepak around here. He's basically a good guy, has helped bring some Indian philosophy (and the habit of daily meditation) to the west, and found a way to make good money doing it.

He has his own way of conceptualizing about life, and this is the place for him to share it informally with us all. That's a great thing, and this is his home on the web for that purpose.

I'm a guest in his online home, so I try to behave respectfully. Like a gracious host, he doesn't hold it against me if I disagree with his viewpoints sometimes, but in fact enjoys and learns from spirited discussion.

As I see it, there's no need to either worship or hate him. He's another human being, warts and all, as they say, as am I.

And that's as it should be.

DAMSEL IN DISTRESS

There was a damsel
in distress
or was it just a dirty dress

She couldn't eat
she couldn't pray
she really didn't know what to say

I met her on the street one day
and took her to the hospital right away

The ER nurse was quite a bore
but the young doctor on duty
was something more

My hair is falling out, she sobbed and cried
There's been a nuclear war and everyone died
The doctor sighed

A psychiatrist was called to see her
This damsel in the dirty dress
It was
two hours later

Your brain is accessing the wrong thought
he told her
For whatever reason, havoc is being wrought
apon your thought
The hair falls out
quite naturally so
But not by war, he swore

She smiled and trusted his confident demeanor
The pills would make her mind a bit keener
He'd say
And then took her away
for a stay

Well I was happy
just to leave her
But I saw her later
Maybe six months or so
The same dirty dress
But now she was thinking
like all the rest
of us, I guess

I have to wonder and believe me its confusing
Are the Buddhist correct when they call life illusion?
When consciousness shifts to another awareness
What thoughts can we access to explain the weirdness?

A guide would be nice
And I saw it thrice
On Kung Fu the show
I have to go

I bid her farewell
She waved me goodby
My damsel in distress
with the dirty dress

#66 Dear Keith,

I wonder what you wonder. We play to some crazy in-betweens here. I like to think, off-stage we would ever smile and still be wondrous.

Not sure I get entirely what you're saying. It seems you maybe see your past IB (Irritable Bowel?) in me, no?
Assumptions may be a bugbear to both of us, I know. Infinite patience brings immediate results!

Blessings my friend.

Hi Divya,

I see some of the newcomers aren’t aware what a savvy debater you have been; they can be forgiven for making flippant statements. But calling them “pimps and maggots” is not necessary.

I agree that the site has become boring lately. Some of the great writers are no longer with us for various reasons.

David Hall:

I think he is currently on the east coast and may come back at some point after sorting out some personal matters. He was a fine gentleman, insightful and witty who always provided balance when things got a bit heated;

North:

She recently stated that she is leaving because she thinks she has upset a few people;

Skep:

I believe site administrators have sanctioned him for whatever reasons. I am not too sure what those reasons are. I cannot recall him making mean-spirited, nasty comments to require banishment. He has been a consistent voice of reason from the inception and should, in my view, be allowed to continue to be a part of the community.

If blog owners are offended by his ideological and philosophical views, they should confront him and clearly make their position known; not quietly remove him. I would hope that freedom of expression and opposing views are not being suppressed. However, there is no place for unwarranted personal attacks;

Doodleman:

A humble man whose main intent is to learn, he’s still commenting as you may have noticed.

Janet:

She is an intelligent woman whose views are always a delight to read; not sure what she’s up to.

Cheers.

Fair enough, Ed.

As of late, has anyone used your name in vain?

As for the other, it seems to be fairly obvious then, huh?

No intuition necessary...er, well, it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't needed.

And no IB problem here, man. Mr. Foliage consumes mass fibers.

Btw, do you celebrate Thanksgiving?

If not, do you eat turkey?

Sweet potatoes? Green bean casserole? Cranberry anything?

I best go eat. Peace and chow!

Always nice to read your posts, you are one of my favourites here at what I refer to, as my Internet “Cheers Bar”.

Posters like Aurora, Heather, Kate, Ruth, Richard Thomas, Keith, North, Ambasteve, Ron and even Diablo keep this a worthwhile place to stop by and have a drink. Norm is also one of my favourites. I miss old friends like David Hall, the Cosmic Superstar Navin, and others, but they will be back. I am also getting to know some of the new voices here, and hope to make friends with some of them as time goes on.

Deepoosultan,

Thanks for your post #9 from Miliarepa. Those of you on the spiritual path would enjoy studying about this fantastic man.
His mother had him trained up from childhood as a “Black Dupa” to carry out revenge on her relatives who had cheated her out of her inheritance. He sat on a hill above the homes of these relatives, and destroyed them with a hail storm! (nice trick when you are really pissed at someone).

Later he decided he didn’t like being a “Black Dupa” and with incredible effort which included many years alone in a cave, he made the transition to the other side of the spectrum and achieved Nirvana. He is one of the only people ever to make such a transition in one lifetime. There are some good books out about him just google his name.

Stan

#75 I'm a Brit, Keith. I do practice gratitude, especially for good natural food and as near raw as is possible. Thanksgiving is becoming acceptable to this insular bunch of cousins. We do have the more low-key Harvest Festival and Supper which usually means a trip to one's favourite Church. I guess you are well aware of that.

I usually allude when I'm cruelly or otherwise mis-used, Keith.
Having a strong wonder about little sap, though.

See you later Keith and Edmund, I really liked your poetry and the Irish Baptism. Me mum was a Quinn, a Hanrahan, and married a Mac Donald.

hithereeveryone,

Yawnnnnn! Sunday...slept in today and I get to relax and wander the internet with a cup of java...a simple luxury, indeed. Lately I have had to get up at some ungodly early hour and get my butt out the door...and believe me this time of year it is no fun...brrrrrr. Saw a deer the other day on my way to work..just me and the deer out so early....

anywho...what was I going to say..hmmmm. Haven't been paying too much attention to the debates as I said, earlier. I guess it is just important to have a change of political party in the White House just to see if we can get back to recognizing our own Nation again. I feel I have been living in foreign land since the year 2000.

I caught Bush(I really do not even want to call him President anymore, I really cannot fathom how this man was ever elected to the highest office in the land...we must have been on drugs...oh, yes, now, I remember, we were...the Jesus drug...silly me...I forget that religion is also a potent drug of choice and just as dangerous when used to excess...but let me get on with what I was saying...anywho Bush was giving it to Congress over the Iraq funding bill...accusing them of whatever...and I thought.. this man, this President, runs up a trillion dollar war debt for our future....millions and millions wasted, lost, in the hands of whoever....and he is allowed to ask for more and then criticize when they ask for some guarantees of some sort....the man has BALLS...maybe he should get them checked for disease because they are growing bigger by the day...really, after all he has ineptly brought forth from the cave of his oval office you would think the man would at least keep his trap shut until his time is up...but noooooooo he lectures Congress....here, in the good ole USofA INEPTNESS RULES! got it. Really, I think if we were more of a courageous people politically instead of the drowsy sheep we have shown ourselves to be since 2000, especially, we would laugh in his face and tell him to just button it up...because we have serious problems to worry about, deal with, and face in the coming years....and those being all HIS policies...like little land mines planted all over our Nation and the Middle East...ready to go off with one mis-step...yes, we have serious work to do to get this Nation back what is was before...A Nation where we respected the Constitution of the United States Of America, A Nation where Laws ruled not the religious beliefs of a few fundamentalists right wing conservative republicans....where having and using intelligence, vision, and power wasn't synonymous with the know-how and use of military weaponry. Where a President can actually verbalize a full sentence and it actually relates to the material or questions discussed.

have a great day everyone, ruth(the orig)

Ron, the reason for Skep's banishment is simple... his logical science-based views, his integrity, his refusal to resort to name calling, and his persistent challenge of charlatans was more than they could handle.

Son_of_Skeptisch
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes simple.

"his logical science-based views...."

Skeptish has no heart. He may have some mind. He wants proof of God. What temerity! God needs no proof. He's everywhere. We only have to open our eyes and heart to see him, to feel him. Why we have to screw our head all the time with algebra
or trigonometry to prove this or that. I never did well in science in high school. I hate arithmetics. Why do I have to remember the number tables. What for is the calculator?

Skeptisch always quotes Carl Sagan, Sagan this and that, as if no one ever lived in this world. What about Jesus, Gandhi and now our spiritual masters like Kirpal Singh, Avtar Singh and Deepak Chopra.

I am not sure if DK Matai is also a spiritual master but at times he sounds like one equating
some E eight vector photo - that I however have no clue what it is but does look pretty - with one hundred petals of the lotus flower on which some spiritual master in India used to sit and do meditation in peace away from the humdrum of the world. Now this is spirituality for which we need no Carl Sagan of Skeptisch.

I will come back later with more to tell why Skeptisch is not welcome here. Today is Sunday, and now I have to go my Iglesia de Madre Maria.

See you later. Do you have any response? Who are you? A real son of Skeptisch or some hypocrite or science/astronomy nut?

Hi Edmund,

I have been reading you for awhile you sound like a good guy. Nice to meet you.

Hi Keith,

The market is still a buy, but go for mining stocks on weakness like what is happening right now. Gold in the short term (1-2 years) is headed for 1000 per ounce. Platinum 2,000, per oz. 20 dollar an oz. for silver, and 5.00 copper. Small companies with lots of proven reserves. Good luck
to you and me2

Kind Regards,
Stan

Thats the primary reason I didn't seek to be educated in the conventional ways. I already know it all. Not because I am superduper smart, but because I realize that all that has EVER been learned is already in every cell of my body. My only task is to allow it to be.

Yo Ron
I still have so much to learn. Not about the big questions of life but of human interaction. I'm comfortable with my spiritual/secular beliefs. That is why I am often reverent and irreverent when it comes to spirituality and science.
My challenge is making sense out of my projections and judgements when interacting with people. I get myself in some funky places here when interacting and I feel like a fool sometimes, but I try to let go and come back with a little more humility and understanding of myself and others.
IB provides a very intense learning ground for this, for me.
Whether there is a God or not is irrelevant to me, our interaction about God and science is more my concern.
We may never have proof of God and science may never save us, but we do have to interact with eachother every day.

I apologise to everyone here for my judements, I am still learning the delicate art of human interaction.

A Personal View of the Search for God
by Carl Sagan:

Questioner: If you do not believe in God, where do you get your spirituality?

Sagan: Given today's religious climate, the question is reasonable, and I am asked it, in one form or another, at every public lecture that I give.

My answer to the question:

If spirituality is the sense of awe and humility in the face of the creation, what could be more awesome and humbling than the deep space discovered by Hubble and the cosmologists, and the deep time discovered by Darwin and the evolutionists?

Through a natural process of evolution, and an artificial course of culture, we have inherited the mantle of life's caretaker on Earth, the only home we have ever known.

The realization that we exist together for a narrow slice of time and a limited parsec of space, potentially elevates us all to a higher plane of humility and humanity, a provisional proscenium in the drama of the cosmos.

Sagan continues:

I think if we ever reach the point where we think we thoroughly understand who we are and where we came from, we will have failed. I think this search does not lead to a complacent satisfaction that we know the answer, not an arrogant sense that the answer is before us and we need do only one more experiment to find it out.

It goes with a courageous intent to greet the universe as it really is, not to foist our emotional predispositions on it but to courageously accept what our explorations tell us.

yo, scrummy bread, Keith, you bet. Now I see your fibre+.

Not easy to find in S. England, at a sensible price, that is.
I'm enjoying organic rye and sunflower seed bread from Mestermacher Co. Germany. ThatI can get it easily from the local supermarket, less than a £1 for 500grams.
Lucky old you, with that elixir of bread on your doorstep. I'm gonna take another look now....that's pure health!

Yo, Derek, you could be the yardstick around here, not much you should even think of apologising for.
Yay, interaction, and how we shape it...you the artist!

Hey, bless this open thread :-)

There is something about the humility of a great man such as Carl Sagan that creates even more humility in me when I read his quotes. To me he an example of the kind of spirituality that I strive for.
I attaended a gay men's choir concert in a beautiful and very old church last night. The associate pastor who introduced the chior was also of the same spirituality that I hope for.

Thank you Ron for the Carl Sagan quotes.

And Thank you Edmund for your kindness.

I continue to learn here and I don't mind making mistakes in order to learn.

Yo, bless this open thread indeed.

Hi Edmund,

I have tried over many years (25+) to establish a relationship between the stock market and astrology. The science geeks here will no doubt laugh at these efforts. I have not studied all the planetary aspects, but I have recorded a few apparent correlations with some of the more frequent and obvious ones. For example, what ever happens in the market during a moon “void of course” most often reverses itself within a short period of time. The market usually behaves badly during Mercury retrograde. We just came out of the shadow of one of those today, so I expect the market to head back up for the next little while.

This having been said, there is no substitute for studying the fundamentals of each stock, and paying close attention to the short and long term trends of the market, and its various sectors, and then sticking with the saying, "the trend is your friend". This will always bring you greater success than trying to invest via astrology.

Kind Regards,
Stan

dear Edmund
Merriman is interesting.
I check in with his comments from time to time, but don't really use it to trade the market.I agree with Stan that fundamentals win in the long term. Merriman's comments on overall cycles though, both short and long term are always very insightful. Think we are in for some interesting times over the next few years.

#98 Dear Bonnie,
although I feed all sorts of info into my head about markets and stocks, quite often, in the end, whether I buy or not is not reasoned.
Just looking at the name can be enough and, as a Cap, I'm always looking long-term. It's that intuitive exercise that I enjoy the most and the 'winning' in Life, this in quite a different way to what it may seem in the material sense.

I think you will understand, and what sign is apportioned to you, if I may ask.

helloeveryone,

just checking in at IB to see what is happening and reading through a couple of OT....

Dear Kate, I am happy that you enjoy reading my posts as I also enjoy yours and everyone else's who take the time to comment here at IB. It is not difficult to understand why so many ‘good’ people are leaving the site. Consider the opprobious, self-righteous nature of the following. I am not sure if this person is an insider or just a doting fan:

“Skeptish has no heart. He may have some mind. He wants proof of God. …What temerity!... I never did well in science in high school. I hate arithmetics?” Bubba, post # 81.

You say you didn’t do too well in high school. I am sorry to hear that; sadly, it’s quite obvious!
You continue: “Skeptisch always quotes Carl Sagan, Sagan this and that, as if no one (else) ever lived in this world. What about Jesus, Gandhi and now our spiritual masters like Kirpal Singh, Avtar Singh and Deepak Chopra (?) …Now this is spirituality for which we need no Carl Sagan of Skeptisch.” What the hell is wrong with quoting Sagan?

Aren’t you guilty of the same thing for which you accuse Skeptisch?
You are juvenilely gloating and doting about a few men who are more learned than you! What gives you more of a right to do that than anyone else?

It would also seem that you would rather prefer to silence those who do not conform to your limited line of ‘thinking’! If we are not going to allow opposing views, it would, effectively, amount to a form totalitarianism and suppression of free speech, isn’t it? Is that your preference?

You also mentioned that Skeptisch has no heart but may have some mind. I am terribly disappointed that you would have the audacity to make such a boorish statement. If you are going to engage in this sort of truculence and vengefulness, it would be helpful if you can back it up with examples!

Skep, I and deeply disappointed that you will not be back. If the site gets more infiltrated by panderers to one-sided views, undoubtedly, the ranks of those who have parted ways will grow!

Hi Edmund

Taking a disciplined approach is habit with me since, until 2 years ago when I sold my business, I managed fairly sizable sums of other people's money. I actually enjoy playing with the numbers and cycles and such. But now that I am 'footloose' the "winning in Life", as you say, is what is enjoyable. So I do understand.

I have to smile about you feeding all sorts of info into your brain, I do that too, all of which is totally unrelated, but it helps when playing trivial pursuit. :)

Oh, I am a Taurus with Aquarius rising. Haven't a clue what that means other than I usually don't know whether I am coming or going, but have decided it doesn't matter 'cause now I can see both ways.

And what might you be?

love
bonnie

Dear Ron Saywack, I read you lamentations in #101
with great delight. You raise too many issues. I will make you happy with only a few ones, and slowly satisfy you fully in the subsequent postings, lest this post gets to be too long and boring to you and to others.

You are a friend of Skeptisch and it's understandable you would like to defend him at any cost - even though we are not in any fight here and are only expressing our views gently like you or aggressively, perhaps like me.

I am no insider, nor am I any doting fan. I speak my mind, as I please.

I will retitrate Skeptisch does not seem to have any heart. He hardly ever talks of love, peace, compassion or connectedness of consciousness. He's always demanding proofs and explanations of any thing Dr. Chopra says, like spoon bending recently! We do not have to live our lives drowned in equations, theorems, algebra and trigonometry. What is, is. And what is not, is not.

I feel God in my heart. So there is God. I need no proof of God. I pray God, and God hears and answers my prayers. He gives me peace of mind. He blesses me and keeps me healthy, wealthy and wise. My faith in God works for me. So why should I be wasting my time what Skeptish, Carl Sagan or Richrd Dawkins and hosts of other crazies say about God or universe. And whatever they say today, may be after few years or few decades will be proven wrong by the same people who agree with them today. Nonsense. I do not have to waste my mind reading all that is not absolute. God is. We can live by reasoning everything in life. We have to take things by holy faith too. If you do not believe in God, that's all right with me. I do believe in God, so do not come here asking me the proof of the existence of God and telling me like Richard Dawkins that we are deluded in God. You can go to other sites where atheists gather and abuse God. Not here. It's a amatter of time, heavenly gates will not be opened to them and they will rot in hell ever and ever.

Well, I better stop here. It's getting too long. You are welcome to react to what I said. I, however, will later come back with further comments on what you said in #101.

Have a nice day/evening/night wherever you happen to be.

And God bless you. We bless all even if they are not our friends.

Bubba

"Take for example the Terry Shiavo case. If the family really beleived in Heaven why would they stop the husband from letting her go after 15 years in a vegetative state. My guess is they had no real beleif. Heaven was just a word bound in a book."

------------------------------------------

That is ridiculous. Just shows the twisted thinking and levels to which one can stoop to make their point. If they(Terry Shiavo parents) believed in the God in a book and "if they had 'real belief' in heaven", it doesn't necessitate that they take a person's life, and actually it is against what the book(Bible) suggests or at east what they could have interpreted; it amounts to murder.

Bottom line is that a person who has a "real belief in heaven" and faith in God need not support euthanasia. To suggest otherwise about the 'personal beliefs' of people using a real life example is narrow mindedness, if not disgusting, to say the least.

"I'm a guest in his online home, so I try to behave respectfully. Like a gracious host, he doesn't hold it against me if I disagree with his viewpoints sometimes, but in fact enjoys and learns from spirited discussion."

I hope you too are learning from Deepak Chopra when his views are different from yours. Especially in regard to mind outside brain theories. You seem to give examples like, a fish cannot communicate across oceans with another fish although they are connected by water, in order to counter his mind field theories. This is a straw man.

"As I see it, there's no need to either worship or hate him. He's another human being, warts and all, as they say, as am I."

I don't worship Jesus or Buddha or Nanak and I don't worship Deepak Chopra. If someone feels that Deepak's awareness levels are high... similar to that of other realized beings, that is not necessarily "worship".

Those who hate "Deepak" are perhaps skeptics and strong atheists. And they have every right to do that; their have their reasons and narrow minded beliefs which contribute to an extend to see him as a charlatan and an enemy of reason who is spreading superstitions and making money.

Their criticism of Deepak's science, though, is no different than yours.

Change is important. You might be a follower... or perhaps a worshiper of Ramatha / Ram Dass School of thought, and as you assume Deepak learns from your views at IntentBlog, you should be open to change your views of paranormal phenomena like telepathy, psychokinesis etc in the field of all possibilities and creating realities.

Deepak Chopra has experienced spoon bending, communicated with the dead, collected evidence from observations and parapsychology experiments, has proofs from Quantum Physics and knows the secrets of fulfilling desires and creating reality.

And of course he is "just another human being", as is Jeusus, Buddha, Ram Dass or me.
(But, I cannot claim to have experienced spoon bending, or talking to the spirits etc.)

Hello.

Well Nolene brought me my Birthday present today, a hand carved jade penis about one inch long! Its really cute and sweet. Good sign! it has to be its a penis.

Thank you Deepak for hosting this place.

A "true enough" Story.

*************************

"UG said, ‘A guru is one who frees you from himself.’ So one day I flung the dog collar, the mala Osho had given me, into a toilet, flushed it down, and walked away. I had touched a live wire. There was no looking back."

"UG robs you of all goals and meaning and leaves you empty and naked. He tears down every idea built by human thought, brick by brick, over centuries. He not only embraces nothingness, he is nothingness."

>>>>>>>

The Enigmatic Story Buster
From Tehelka

A new biography is out on UG Krishnamurthy. Tracking his own journey from being an alcoholic and spiritual junkie to a state of elated self reliance, Bhatt describes one of the most subversive men in human history

By Mahesh Bhatt (Bollywood renowned filmmaker)

The things you love in life the most are the things which fade. Human history is littered with monumental works of men and women who, through their writing skills, have hoped to give permanence to the moments that have stirred them deeply. Mukunda Rao’s book, The Other Side of Belief — Interpreting UG Krishnamurthy is one such brave attempt. It is a crown jewel amongst all the other books written on UG till date.

In this book Mukunda tells the story of a ‘Story Buster’ called UG who according to me is the most subversive man in human history. For those seeking enduring solace within these pages, here is a word of caution. As you hurtle through time, encountering the crucifixion of Jesus, and the drama of Socrates forcibly fed hemlock, or getting a closer look at Darwin, Marx, Freud and Nietzsche, and then a more personal view of UG’s run in with the sage of Thiruvanamalai, you realize that the author is making you look at the human situation through the eyes of a man who tears down every sacred institution built by human thought, brick by brick, over the centuries. In effect, he busts all the stories that have comforted you over the years, and robs you of all goals and meaning and leaves you empty and naked. In spite of that, you are left feeling cleansed and unburdened.

Fifteen years ago, in the year 1990, when I first expressed my desire to write the story of the life of this ‘story buster’, I still remember what he said. ‘Why a biography of me? If my life story is never told, the world would be none the worse for it... If they’re looking for something in my life to change their lives forever, they haven’t got a chance. You can fit my life neatly into that rhyme for children – Solomon Grundy. That, in a nutshell, is yours, mine and everybody’s story. I must go unsung, unhonoured and unwept.’

One often does not remember the exact details that surround first meetings, particularly if they have happened long ago. However, although I first met UG way back in 1977, I still remember what he said that day to me. ‘I’m not a godman. I would rather be called a fraud. The quest for God has become such an obsessive factor in the lives of human beings because of the impossibility of achieving pleasure without pain. That messy thing called the mind has created many destructive things. By far the most destructive of them all is God. I don’t want to be placed along with Jesus and Buddha and all these so called seers of mankind. They were all conmen. They conned themselves and conned the world. It is the messiahs who have made a mess of this world...’

I felt scorched. Accidentally I had touched a live wire. His words jolted me out of my spiritual coma. (I was a Rajneesh sanyasi then.) Those were the days of reading Jonathan Livingston Seagull, listening to the Beatles and having lsd. It was the taste of the mystical I had experienced on lsd which had steered me into the spiritual bazaar.

But in spite of five hours of meditation every day for three years I couldn’t get anywhere close to what I had experienced on lsd. After meeting UG I realized that Rajneesh had become my crutch and my quest for freedom had been transformed into a trap, a prison, from which I mouthed concepts of liberty and independence. But deep down within myself I was mediocre. In actuality I was no different from a drug addict, who would go to the Ashram front office begging for a darshan with ‘Bhagwan’ like a druggie begging for his next fix.

My years in the Rajneesh Ashram had not contributed to my self improvement. Progress in that area is an illusion. If holy books and spiritual talks could change people, this world would become a paradise. Rajneesh was just a wordsmith peddling half truths and high phrases. That’s what people wanted, not blunt facts. I was lucky to have met a man like UG who told me, ‘A guru is one who frees you from himself.’ So one day I flung the ‘dog collar’, the mala that Rajneesh had given me, into a toilet, flushed it down and walked away from him forever. Once I did that there was no looking back.

As the days wore on, I made it a point to meet UG every time he was in Mumbai. Although I had walked away from my crutch, I still thirsted for something enduring.

I once asked him. ‘If humanity is to be saved from the chaos of its own making, what role can India play?’ His answer was: ‘India has neither the spiritual power nor the material strength to be of any help to mankind. Man is merely a biological being. There is no spiritual side to his nature. All your virtues, principles, beliefs, ideas and spiritual values are imposed on you by your culture. Not in ‘love thy neighbor as thyself’, but in the terror that if you try to kill your neighbor you will also be destroyed along with him, lies the future of mankind. How long is anyone’s guess.’ Every time I went to him, my mental processes were put to rout. All my stories were being busted bit by bit. I used to go to him seeking assurances and help, all I got was despair. ‘Go back to your Gurus, I have nothing to offer you because there is nothing to get,’ I remember him telling us.

I had come to a dead end. Perhaps the only way out from that feeling of utter hopelessness was to resort to an act of recklessness. One night, at 2am, a drunken man — myself — walked to UG’s house and rang his bell. UG opened the door. I still remember what I said: ‘I want to kill you. Why on earth did I ever have to meet a man like you? No matter what topic I begin with, it ultimately ends in despair.’ UG said, ‘Why don’t you go to sleep Mahesh. There is a sofa and there is a blanket. If you want to kill me, you will do well to wait till tomorrow when people will be around. Then you can make a ritual of the whole thing.’ Minutes later I wished him good night and kissing his hand said, ‘UG I love you.’ That was the beginning of my one-way love story with UG.

The afterglow of a thousand yesterdays spent with UG simmers within me. This edifice of Mahesh Bhatt stands on the bedrock of insights acquired through fierce interactions with the enigma called UG. After 25 years of knowing him, I’m still unable to define him!

Once, sitting in a coffee shop, I asked him, ‘Is there nothing you want from me?’ He replied, ‘Only one thing. After I’m dead and gone there should be no trace of me inside of you and outside of you.’

This complete self-smashing jolted my entire being. His will to stand alone and then just die quietly washed over me head to toe. Here I was in this moment in time face to face with a phenomenon who not only embraced nothingness but was in fact nothingness. ‘How can I do that UG?’ I said. ‘The day I erase you from my mind will be the end of me. You have given me so much courage!’

‘That courage is your own. It is you. You need not be indebted to me for that. Thousands of people come to see me, but they don’t have your guts. It’s you my friend...’

And with these words, he freed me. He was truly acting upon what he had told me when I first met him, that a real Guru is one who frees you from himself.

"Deepak Chopra has experienced spoon bending, communicated with the dead, collected evidence from observations and parapsychology experiments, has proofs from Quantum Physics and knows the secrets of fulfilling desires and creating reality."

These are the very reasons that Dr. Deepak Chopra is a man of international fame and an authority
on spirituality, mind out of brain theories, ability to communicate with the dead (?), paranormal phenomena, consciousness integrated interpretation of Quantum Physics that puts to shame the hard core physicists unable to explain things of the soul using quantum Physics as Dr. Deepak Chopra can. And now we are fortunate to have Dr. Avtar Singh and Dr. DK Matai who have gone further to explain soul, God and consciousness using their Holistic Quantum Relativity Theories.

Intentblog. What a wonderful place to interact and broaden our our views on the universe of scientific and spiritual reality.

Dr. Chopra, God bless you and your family and friends for the Intentblog, and for your teachings. I am hooked to it now and connected with you. Perhaps this is what you call consciousness connections! How wonderful will it be if all humanity gets connected like this!

I wonder how many other such gurus as Rajneesh are these days selling their theories on the reality of spiritual and physical world and human consciousness and proving their theories with the application of quantum mechanics, even though they have no knowledge of even the fundamentals of quantum mechanics and do not know what's Schrodinger equation.

We cannot put Dr Deepak Chopra, Dr. Avtar Sing and Dr. DK Matai in the above category. We are blessed to have our three learned doctors who know almost everything about physics, biology, souls, spirituality, reality, God, health (both bodily and mental), wealth, evolution and every other thing in between.

God bless our three doctors, and also the Intentblog.

Edmund, nice to know that the position of the planets at the time of your birth or of your mother's conception programmed you to become a gardener later. How wonderful to find years ahead of time what our fate has for in store using Astrology, the grandest of all sciences.

Your life is a living proof on the verity of Astrology. What else can Astrology predict truthfully?

Astrology is a pseudoscience. This fake science is still widely practised all over the world by charlatans to swindle millions of ignorant people. Just look as the astrology section in your daily newspaper; it is one of the most popular sections. As long as people remain ignorant, astrology will continue to flourish. The only reason many buy the newspaper is to check their horoscope. Sad!

Here is an historical overview of the subject matter by a real scientist:

Sure there are charlatans and ignorants in any field including Astrology who bring a bad name to what they sell. But Deepak Chopra is an expert in the an
