Wishing you a very happy Merry Christmas
and I wish that this eve will turn miraculous for you
and also wish for wisdom and beauty.
---------------------------------------------------
Christmas gifts for u
To your enemy, forgiveness.
To an opponent, tolerance.
To a friend, your heart.
To all, charity.
To every child, a good example.
To yourself, respect.
There's more, much more, to Christmas Than candlelight and cheer; It's the spirit of sweet friendship That brightens all year. It's thoughtfulness and kindness, It's hope reborn again, For peace, for understanding, And for goodwill to men!”
Merry Christmas and n Christmas hugs for U
Didn't someone once say?
"Little do I know,
less do I understand."
As for me...
.
I couldn't get to BIG,
until I slightly
over-emphasized
a simple fact.
.
I am fond of what?
.
U has found out what.
T stands formulated.
.
>+++
Foundation:
Under God = Indivisible = Over Lord
Aspiration:
If heaven is a physical place, where is it?
As far back as the 3rd century, some early disillusioned Christians were anticipating the return of the mythical figure, Christ, from heaven. It is easy to understand why people would believe such tall tale back then, considering the prevailing ignorance of the time, but why today? Isn’t it akin to saying “I’ll bring you chocolate tomorrow?” But tomorrow is always a day away, isn’t it? If man has not self destructed one million years hence, some of our decedents, provided they have not yet grown up, will probably still be saying the same old nonsense.
For what reason would a dead man come back to the earth? Does that make sense to any intelligent, rational person? He, like all dead persons, has had his day in the sun, and will not be back, and, like all other 'prophets' before and after him, was made into god by humans, and with each passing generation, the legend begins to weave a life of its own with convenient, self-serving embellishments, until it is seen as truth.
It would be reasonable and prudent to live this life to the fullest since there is no evidence to suggest a second go around. That is the stuff of fairytale and wishful thinking, Virginia.
Obviously, to live for ever would be a natural choice many would make if it were an option or a natural progression from this one. But there is no evidence to suggest such is the case! To rationalize the existence of these fictional places by using faith represents the grossest insult to intelligence.
December 25th marked the momentous return of the Savior of man, the Sun. It rose 1 degree on the northern horizon (from the perspective of the Northern Hemisphere) and will continue to do so for the next six months till the Summer solstice, when the whole process reverses itself to the next winter solstice one year from now.
Some of you genuinely believe that when this life is over, you will spend eternity in heaven where you will meet up with your imaginary god and reacquaint with all your dead relatives and loved ones. Really! But where is heaven? Or where is hell, for that matter?
Apparently, it’s a physical place, if you believe Pope Pius XII who, in 1950, decreed that Mary never died, but was assumed into heaven, body and soul intact, the first human to do that. Some of you actually believe this ^*$%. So, where is it? We know where it is not.
It’s not below the Earth; it’s not above the Earth; it’s nowhere between here and the Moon or between here and the Sun, or anywhere else in interplanetary space. And space is a very cold place where humans cannot survive. So, where is it?
Hi Ron,
"It’s not below the Earth; it’s not above the Earth; it’s nowhere between here and the Moon or between here and the Sun, or anywhere else in interplanetary space. And space is a very cold place where humans cannot survive. So, where is it?"
Up till now i would have told you it is in the heart :)
But after having reflected deeply i came up with another answer: it is in "non-local" space and it is probably best named by "evolution".
And it takes place right here: on earth!!
As you have already pointed out during these years at Intentblog, evolution takes aeons to develop and we are still so young.
What is wisdom?
I can only answer this from my own experiences and then see evolution as it has developed in my own life from being born just after the Worldwar II.
Science has taken a flight since then in every aspect of life. Slowly but surely apparatus emerged to make our households more easier to manage.
Yesterday i saw with my own eyes at my children's place how science is still progressing with a simple little bottle to remove nasal mucus out of a baby's nose. Us two grandmothers telling each other how many things have made nurturing a baby these days so much easier for the mothers AND fathers of today :)
And that is only one aspect. The other is the shared responsibility the parents of today have, not only for their children but also for making a living etc. etc.
All thanks to science who has made it all possible.
And now science will make it also possible to invent all kinds of solutions for the problems we are encountering now.
And it will be done because every generation is by evolution placed on a higher level and so we are growing all together towards the future.
Well, i am very positive and open about this future and very grateful for what i have received in my life :)
May 2008 become a year of shared revolutionary scientific insights that will bring all of humanity on a higher evolutionary level.

Ron #5:
Good food for thought that turned my heart/mind/body in response:
When I was in my early 20's I was riding in the car with my new husband and looking out the window. Everything felt flat, cold, lonely, sad. I was separate...within myself and in the world. I think about that dark and desolate moment and feel deep gratitude that I didn't stay in that hell (cold vs. hot in my experience).
Integration is heavenly. Integration of my own selves (spirit, heart, mind, body) and integration with beings in spirit realms and in this earth realm.
Separation is hell. Oneness is heaven.
Where does heaven live? In whole system design from micro cell to macro galaxy. Heaven is a connection of parts generating song and substance.
Jesus' spirit lives and so do others who inspired hearts and uplifted minds. We are all part of that magic when we attune within and sing these praises without. Let's not deny its presence!
Ron, may you, and may we all welcome in a Bright New Year.
Trish~~
The old has to make place for the new, in an ever changing awareness and the choices are endless which perhaps is the ONE thing that is constant.
Mieke
Well, the Wicked Witch of the North had only a hotdog and a burnt toasted roll for Christmas dinner. Not even any saurkraut or beans available. (I had to work.) Then the cat clawed into the remote, and so did she, and now she can't get the cable tv to work. I reprogrammed it twice, no luck. So Keith, what ever you did, it's working.
Ron Saywack,
You're so boring.
You ask wacky questions -
If heaven is a physical
place, where is it?
It is in you, you, you.
The kingdom of God's in you.
Wake up, wacko.
Read some Heather
Some Kate, some Keith.
Feel the earth underneath
and love above
high up in skies.
Stop whining.
Stop your cries.
Ron Saywack,
I am in complete agreement about the many religious myths out there.
From a purely scientific perspective don't you think it is plausible that the electromagnetic field of the human body continues on after death?
My exploration and experience tells me that the field can be manipulated and extend beyond the physical body.
Doesn't energy always remain just takes on different forms?
I respect your healthy skepticism regarding religion and mythology.
We all want answers.
Todd
"From a purely scientific perspective don't you think it is plausible that the electromagnetic field of the human body continues on after death?"
"Doesn't energy always remain just takes on different forms?" --- Todd - Level Seven
Who better to talk about Energy from a scientific perspective than Einstein?
Einstein said: "I can't believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotisms."
There are people who saw Heaven and talked to Jesus and God talked to them etc etc....Anything is possible. If that's your philosophy.
Einstein: "Since our inner experiences consist of reproductions, and combinations of sensory impressions, the concept of a soul without a body seem to me to be empty and devoid of meaning."
Stan the man, thanks for your excellent proposal for proper justice to Native Indian Tribes in the last week's OT. The declaration of independence by the Lakota Sioux Indians is perhaps the best thing to do with the present situation of their people.
Todd, level7
I agree with you and thus I agree with Ron too that the electromagnetic field of the human body continues on after death.
And further to this that the field can be manipulated and extended beyond the physical body. The manipulations have to be neither electric nor magnetic but spiritually ecstatic.
The energy always remains but takes on different forms. It is akin to the reincarnation wherein body dies, the soul does not die as it is the embodiment of the entity of God - all pervasive, never invasive.
Kubaner, thanks for bringing awareness about The Reason Project initiative which is much needed in our world.
I hope everyone had safe travels over the holiday. I took my daughter, Devani, to the Albany Airport Christmas morn. No traffic, cheap rates. We heard a snowfall blanketed the corn and wheat out in the midwest. So when she got to Chicago, I was pleased to hear that a kind travel clerk for United, got her on a standby flight to San Fran much earlier than expected. Yahoo. I hope everyone's children are safe and sound tonight.
PS: Does anyone know where the phrase "There are some things it is not lawful for a man to know?" comes from? It keeps coming in my head tonight but I don't know the context surrounding it.
Hi Aurora,
Thank you for taking the time to acknowledge my Holiday Greetings sent, in last week's O.T., to the regulars. You are one classy lady!
May you and yours be well in the days and years ahead!
To: Mieke, Trish and Todd, thank you for your comments above!
Sorry to hear about your crumby Christmas dinner, Sherry.
I believe we have until the 1st to make up for it.
Whadduhya say? How 'bouts a pig-in-a-blanket?
.
The author of that phrase(in #15) must be a woman.
Dear Ron,
It is a gorgeous cool evening, and refreshing air as this nature girl finds heavenly!
I hope you and your family have a fun New Year's celebration. I remember my wish for last new year's eve ;)
lots of love,
~ Kate

what a wonderful wish for the new year!
love and blessings to you Mieke and your precious family,

Dear Todd,
in your comment #10
"My exploration and experience tells me that the field can be manipulated and extend beyond the physical body"
Do you believe this knowledge you have gained - will go with you, when you are no longer in physical form?
What form do thoughts take when outside the body (that is no longer in living form)?
I look at a fallen leaf and I ponder - what 'consciousness' the leaf has.
I hold it in my hand briefly, before letting it go,
and appreciate it's delicate beauty.
Love
and
Happy New Year!
~ Kate
hello there Keith,
did Santa arrive at your home yesterday?
only good things delivered to you, I am sure!
she is the unwanted
she is the unloved
she is you,
in another time,
another place,
different face.
Love anyway... unconditionally!
But... None can. None can.
Death.. the seperation of self from Self...the ultimate destination. Why do people fear it so much? We all go there. I will be there, soon.. apparently. I have been there already, perhaps I merely return to the beginning? I am not afraid, though I walk alone, I am not cold with fear... though I am friendless, I am not lonely. I am going home... soon. Very soon. Thankyou God.. you are loving, compassionate and merciful after all.
"I am going home... soon. Very soon. Thank you God.." says lady north...!
are u sad dear north? u mean ur time on earth is short?
peace to u till the end, dear one! D.
http://www.iraqbodycount.org/
Or, are you?
so many dead, the above poetic lament, merely a fragment, of so many whom survive...
http://www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/NSAEBB/NSAEBB187/index.htm
Are you... merciful,
God?
Can you hear your daughters weep, and your sons wail with grief and strife, in their homes?
Can you hear the laughter of the greedy and corrupt; those whom band together, also push away.. it is the laws of nature..
Are you merciful,
God?
Can you hear the screams of their millions of dreams?
Can you feel the tightness in the heart of your human beings?
Can you feel the emptiness of hopelessness?
Can you touch the veil of helplessness?
Can you handle the pain of hungerness?
It seems you can't, at all, at all;
as you demand and beckon of people,
to your "call"
to suffer the pain, the agony;
to taste the bitterness of life's emptiness..
You, the Creator; cannot do all this mess; without us...
I am bold enough.. in "my hour" to bow,
to ask you
how...
Can you use us this way?
so, baah baah; from your little black sheep.
bleep, bleep go I...
after your will is deployed, then we die?
baaaah
Dearest North,
What do you think our children are expressing, your child, Lee.
Each generation carries further the seeds that have been sowed in their youth. And they also know what they will try to avoid from what they have learned in the past :)
Thanks to science, numerous inventions have been made to make nurturing children more easier. I mean with this: from the most simple things as throw-away nappies up to all professional childcare that is already available, sometimes more than enough :)
But most of all one sees, more and more fathers diapering, feeding, nurturing their little babies, in short sharing those responsibilities with the mothers as the mothers share the responsibilities in other aspects, like working for a living.
So much has already changed and when i watch my grandchildren and see them flourish in this luxury of love, i can only feel so much gratitude for this. And you will watch that too in the near future :)
The constant whiner lies in ourselves. We only have to shift our perception and look at all the wonderful things already achieved and where this has not yet been the case it will be achieved just because the minds are set on it.
Everyday, even every minute we can shift our perception and start looking at the wonder of life and the constant evolution it shows :)
Let us all set our minds on that so that indeed nobody is unwanted anymore and more and more suffering will come to a halt.
When I die, I will live, through my children, grandchildren,through my words, through my deeds, i only hope they will not put me on a pedestal because it is Conscious Evolution with a positive attitude that works through the whole of humanity.
Faith comes in for us when we have faith in humanity,
Hope comes in for us when we have trust in humanity,
Love comes in when we feel we have the strength to do it all together.
And so those 3 Eternal truths will always guide us in our evolution.
Cheers to Humanity!!
Mieke
#25 Indeed dear North, caught between a rock and a hard place are we.
What makes the Grand Canyon so awesome? If I could hold your hand, look into your eyes, then maybe I would know.
For now I hear it crying out in you. Man's inhumanity to Man runs deep and subtle. We all are tainted, hardnesses of every degree and 'shape.' Constant dripping wears away a stone, may fill the dam(n) and then flow on.
Diablo and I do drip with you.... and the damn weakens!
Edmund,
when the damn breaks,
a fury occurs.
After the rush,
there is
calmness
I will be there at that moment,
for you all,
with
Love
~ Kate
Dear Kate,
we are the damn, also and that is why we must be mindful. There is hydro power in mindfulness and orderly flow.
There is no fury in your heart. This I know.
Love,
Ed.
How quickly the Christmas Spirit disappears!
How patiently do the ghosts of the past wait in the shadows!
Worries and troubles quickly weed their way into the warm marrow.
Tomorrow never comes soon enough, and Death remains
on the tail end where it quite rightly belongs, dear North!
God bless you, my friend!
.
What shall we do with the memories of this soon-to-be-past year?
Aye! We do have to drag them along behind us, the good and the bad.
Perhaps, we do have a choice. It is possible,
that the weight carried by each problem is like our disposable income.
Free-fall means exactly that, and only happens when I become light as air.
Roll away the stone! Let the dead, stale air drift away unnoticed.
The 'little deaths' will tumble out like so many colorful pebbles.
Tis all so easy for me to say, my good people.
Don't you think for a second that anyone has it made.
It is what we make of it, and today...
my hot air brings a pleasurable warmth to my wrinkly skin.
Who wants to begin the Final Countdown?
~Kate? Ed? The Reverend Mieke? Trish~~?
Brother John? Pastor Ron? Li'l Sap? Heath?
Maybe, Ruth? Level-headed Todd? Nilesh? My Sherry?
Luvz and hugz! Keith
Hi Keith,
I will surrender to this moment and accept it as it is.
Evolution involves the ability to adjust to any crisis that is before you.
But, like Winston Churchill, I will “Never, never, never give up”
And this quote hangs before me now and will be my quote in the coming year!
And this Conscious Evolutionary Energy will spread itself in many forms.
And we ALL are blessed with it, each of us in our Natural Own Way.
Wishing all the most blessing energetic waves in 2008!
Mieke
I wouldn't underestimate God's ingenuity;
Only mine own understanding.
I vow not to attend any New Year's Eve party this year. I'm just going to put in a cd of John Mayer's Gravity and hope for the best.
All the best to you, ye Don Quiotes who have gravitated to this website.
Benazir Bhutto dies from bullet to the neck! how terrible!
Benazir Bhutto assasinated at a rally, reports just coming in.
Shocking news, but somehow not surprising, given the atmosphere of hate and violence prevailing in Pakistan.
It's a great shame and pity.
It will be politically counterproductive for the ruling party.
My respects to a courageous lady...such a waste.
For all ladies in Pink!
For Bonnie...
And many green ones that are coming...
The real victims of terrorist attacks are the regular people who are not the primary targets -- they are victims twice over -- in their suffering direct injuries, and in their being unwilling first-line volunteers in ongoing lives of chaos and pain, if they survive.
If Bhutto's assassination had happened in the US, India, or another country that has lots of IB readers, Intentblog would currently have a very busy Open Thread -- yes?
Yet the Pakistani people are __no different__ from US people or Indian people or UK people or Dutch people, etc. etc.
To get a sense of what it you might have felt if the assassination had taken in your country, please check these pics at the NYTimes -- be warned, they are graphic -- yet they are brilliant for showing our common humanity.
http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2007/12/27/world/asia/1227-ATTACK_index.html
Dear Heather,
May I humbly remind you that we had our own assasination of a "Bhutto" in the person of Theo van Gogh who stood up for Hirsi Ali and gave his life for her vision?
Our country only barely has recovered from this and still we are one of the most tolerant countries in the world.
Mieke
Benazir Bhutto---1953-2007
On December 2, 1988 Benazir Bhutto was sworn in as Prime Minister of Pakistan, becoming the first woman to head the government of an Islamic State.
In the preceding decade of political struggle, Ms. Bhutto was arrested on numerous occasions; in all, she spent nearly 6 years either in prison or under detention for her dedicated leadership of the then opposition Pakistan Peoples Party.
Throughout the years in opposition, she pledged to transform Pakistani society by focusing attention on programs for health, social welfare and education for the underprivileged.
After assuming the office of Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto emphasized the need to heal past wounds and to put an end to the divisions in Pakistani society - including reducing discrimination between men and women. She launched a nationwide program of health and education reform.
Benazir Bhutto was born in Karachi in 1953. After completing her early education in Pakistan, she attended Radcliffe College and Oxford University. As well as obtaining a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, she also completed a course in International Law and Diplomacy at Oxford.
She was also the author of “Foreign Policy Perspective, 1978, and Daughter of Destiny, her autobiography, 1989. “ She will be sorely missed by many, particularly Pakistan’s underprivileged class.
Dear Mieke
An answer to your comment is on the Bhutto thread.
love, Heath
Amazing really, how my 22, 23 and 25 posts; was perceived by 3-4 people in 3-4 diverse ways!
But, there is pain in words like "the constant whiner" and, the pain is not mine. I found it so empty, and void of compassion, patience and love.
Without knowing the "reasoning" behind the triple comments-post I presented, everyone took the meaning of it, differently.. construed their "own perceptions as the reality" even though I mentioned in the "god" messages, the reasons..
no,
the pain is not mine...
though they thought(how profound) it was.
Amazing...
D? : )
Dear North,
I'm sorry if I misrepresented you. I tried very hard to feel with you and Diablo. We each have our own perspective which inevitably colours our words, our hearing. I, too, often feel my point has been missed.
If I really knew how to communicate I guess I wouldn't need to come here and practice with words!
Love to you,
Ed.
Dear Edmund; the way I laid out the mini-thesis, left the gap of perception wide; open to the beholder's "own" interspection, or projection. I found it rather interesting don't you; that, in my lone comments; four responded differently. This means, five people(me being 5) read the same thing differently.
In this respect, can we all really continue to proclaim ourselves as loving; when clearly, we only do so; when it suits our preference "of" "a" perception?
If the suffering one, does not conform to the others "expectations"; notice how he/she becomes "outcast" by the very ones, whom proclaim to be compassionate, unconditionally loving, human beings? They teach it, they talk it; but, seldom can walk it for very long with a truly suffering being... quickly, don't we all, just want to shake off the dust of truth and reasoning?
It is within this paradox of egoic-hypocricy, where the truth is about one's self.. often, seldom revealed until the opportunity is presented to do so.
As just occured.. between me, you, Mieke, Diablo, etc.
So, how do we prepare the suffering, for love? Do we continue to outcast them, become impatient when they do not conform to our time table of such heightened self-leaping? Do we, the "all knowing" push them away, rather than embrace? when to hold on, when to let go? Love, never lets go.
That's MY point....
Ooh, I don't know anymore.. but, the more I sense that I do.. the truth is bitter, not sweet. I think those whom walk through life in false sweetness; often only mastered through manipulation of "mind" the art of masking it; not dealing with it... hence, as the saying goes among the elite intellects in social psychology: "the only true reality, is pain."
I am painfully awake Edmund. Much, to my chagrin at times, as it seems more "fun" to play using masks of persuasion, kinda like their own matrix?
Thanks for the chat-back Edmund; appreciate the feedback... all the best, in 2008...
North
Oh, btw way ALL,
#22, was my way of paying homage, to the murdered ex PM of Pakistan.. may her Spirit rise with honour, and her persecutors, brought to justice.
#23 was in reference to war from religious and invasion perspectives; from the eyes of those suffering within them.
#25.. was their millions of screams, in dreams.
So, this in fact means.. nobody knew what the hell I was talking about; but, "perceived" they did.
Love, never lets go. Never!
Perception is a deception. All ways, always.
I love you ALL.. I have learned, I hope I have taught as well.
North
Actually Edmund.. your #29, you saw what I see.
why do u guys write in murky language? isn't simplicity a virtue? damn!
it is to keep you on your toes, Diablo! : )
A MESSAGE FROM AMBA-STEVE to Ron, and ALL at IB!!
"You may have noticed that I haven'tbeen on IB for some time. The truth is I was basically censored fromthe site. I think I crossed one too many lines with Deepak and they decided to keep me off. Actually it's probably for the good, I havegotten too negative and I haven't had the time lately to blog. Justworking so much. Would you mind saying as such on the current Open Blog? I see somelike Ron has wished me a happy holiday, I just wanted to let everyoneknow what happened to me."
there is more in his EMail dated December 25th. Today is the first day since 23 or 24th I've been able to get into my hotmail. still can't get into my myspace, not even myspace dot com. Steve's Mom's cancer is stable, she is well, living with family. Steve and his girl are doing well, working too much....
Sorry this is so late folks, I just was able to get into my email...
WE/I miss you Steve! : )
North
Kate, just got your EM too, going to read it now...
North
Goodnight IB think I dream tonight the rest of the story..
dear Tammy,
and in dreaming the rest of the story,
you will finally discover,
the End
;)
Dear North,
Thank you for posting amba-STEVE's message. I have missed seeing his comments at IB. Please let him know I hope he will be able to write again soon. and I send love & blessings.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's a cool and refreshing evening, no hint of turmoil where I am - yet I know there is a crisis in so many parts of the earth, and especially in Pakistan tonight
dear North,
suffering...
just saying the word, brings up all kinds of feelings and associations! How true.
My Dad is in the hospital, and I wonder about his suffering, but he does not speak about it at all ...
love,
~ Kate
Kate:
It's not easy parenting one's parent and watching their bodies and/or minds deteriorate. Do you think it helpful to talk about "suffering" with them?
Trish~~
#49 Simple answer to your question, Diab....paradox!
A favourite saying of an ex-marine, who was a friend of mine, was:-
"All that is for us is against us."
More murky stuff on paradox, Diab. Yes, she breaks my heart, too! She is a very good hypnotherapist.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3VEF1mRF0U
Hey Ed!
However in the world did you find that lady?
It is early here. I watched the entire video.
Considering my own psyche...I often wonder if I tend to give myself away too easily.
Some quirk...some sort of odd response...I blurt out something.
In an instant, I've dematerialized my cover, laying bare my soul.
Why I would wish to 'get naked' in a public domain...
simply by saying a few words...a few easily misconstrued words...
Sometimes, I think that I, myself, am afraid to look at my ulterior motives.
See? Now, what the hell does that mean?
Assassination! Go ahead and stick your neck out, folks, and see what happens?
The ostrich in me is in direct opposition to the ham.
.
There you have it. My morning dedication.
Not that anybody cares. Maybe I should ask.
Maybe I should say it with a "Dare ya!"
Resolutions in eternity mean what?
Maybe by getting naked you have less to be afraid of. What can any mugger obtain from a naked man?
Besides, followed by a little soap and water ....
#58 surprising how the switch of one measly letter could cause so much humiliation!
Soap and water? mouth-wash? Never said a word, vicar.
Kate, it was so nice to hear from Steve(Amba)and know what happened to his presence here. I am surprised he's been banned, as there are others that were here, that should have been, that were not, and yet, Steve was?
I am so sorry about your Father Kate. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
My Mom isn't doing well, either; she spent most of Christmas week in hospital, as her sugar keeps plunging so low, she gets disoriented, slurs. It's been frightening for her, and for us. Lee is having kidney pain again.. and being he only has one kidney working at 70% or less.. it's frighteningly stressful... I can lose them both at this point, and it's taken a toll on my heart. He has NO medical or prescription coverage, is on a working holiday(no choice) and lost 10 pounds!! He can't afford to lose 10 pounds! : ( Keep us in your prayers folks....
North
How does conscience (Latin for against knowing) end up being conscious (Latin for with knowing)?
Maybe I should go back in time and sit at the feet of Confusion.
Well, you know.
#57 Keith, m'friend, said lady tried to do me once and I still haven't been done!
I can't answer your other question. Knowing you, the parcel comes with both question and answer mystically wrapped.
Kate.. been trying to get into my hotmail since I left this thread, with NO luck again today!! So,thus far, I've been able to check my email 3 times since early December, once about every 4-6 days. I also cannot get my myspace page to even load again either. I am so sick of the internet.
North, and, of course, Kate, pardon my frivolous moments. I will surely pray my best for you and yours.
Ed.
Freedom of speech is for everyone Waylay. Freedom is transparent, Freedom is not a two-tier system.
#65-Edmund---merci bon coup, cheri
The following commentary is in response to North’s comments in post # 50 above. It is hoped that I have been as objective as possible:
In my view, a practical and realistic way to deal with harsh criticism is to confront the critics directly, one on one if possible, to respond to their charges if their conduct is deemed to have crossed the line. I think silencing them, with the exception of rogue commenters, is inherently counterproductive, as well as constituting a possible violation of the basic tenets of free speech and civil liberties. For most, Freedom of Speech is regarded, with a few exceptions, as a sacred right in democratic societies.
I would encourage civility, tolerance and reasonableness to be the main underpinning of future intellectual discourses on this forum! Deepak has been the subject of harsh criticism recently, much of it unwarranted. Invariably, when one has reached the pinnacle of the social hierarchy, one tends to become a prized target; and it is to be expected.
However, the best way to respond to inflammatory criticism is to confront the critics; not by general avoidance or impulsive banishments, as would appear to be case here at the moment, but by meaningful dialogue and/or warnings. If this fails, then, permanent removal of their privileges is in order.
Moreover, if criticism devolves into personal, mean-spirited and unwarranted attacks, it must be swiftly dealt with, as in the case of a few boors here lately. As for AmbaSteve, I must admit that I am a little surprised to learn of his suspension. He seemed the least likely to be banned. He has, for the most part, conducted himself in a civil and proper manner, although I am not privy to the actual offensive remarks that might have led to his banishment since I was away most of the summer, with very little time to check in.
To the habitual abusers of forum privileges, it would be wise to exercise a fair measure of restraint and to show consideration for your fellow bloggers and the blog owners, as well as accord deference when and where due. It is unreasonable for you to continue to relentlessly attack the owners and spam their site with heaps of rubbish and then expect no repercussions in return. I am certain if the shoe were on the other foot, you would undoubtedly do the same.
My hope is that we always strive to engage in healthy debates and sustain an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding in which we can learn from one another and grow as a community.
Hi Ron, I didn't write post-#50??
Steve mentioned you had mentioned him in Christmas Wishes and he asked me to convey his own to you and All here, as to what has happened to him. I too, am rather surprised he's been barred.
All the best to you and yours in 2008 Ron.
It looks like Waylay's post was removed?
Dear North,
FWI: Your current # 49 was previously positioned at # 50.
Cheers.
I haven't been in much, except lately to wish Happy Holidays; so I've missed lots, apparently?
Thanks Ron.
Anne, I have a hard time with users using multi-names; it creates deception. Peace, love cannot come in such a disguise.. thanks for letting me know why it "might have" been removed.
Cheers indeed, to the New Year!
Hey mate! A lot of my stuff ends up on the cutting room floor as well. At any rate I just wanted to say I am very very tired. I think this spontaneous creative writing has finally gotten to me. I want to go back to a quiet existence, Allah be willing. It's just that you made me laugh so hard sometimes .....
Hey All,
I guess I'm back!
Thanks North for posting my note, the kind folks at Intent Admin sent me this reply which I would like share with everyone (there I go again cutting and pasting :)
"I saw your note sent via North. You got blocked when we were clumsily trying to curb the excess nastiness on the site and trying to get things on a track of nonvioient communication. Anyway, it seems to be fine now, and we would love your contributions again if you would like to come back and visit. Your posts will go straight up now. Thanks for your involvement in the past and we look forward to seeing you again if your time and interest allows.
Warm regards,
I'm still not sure what happened as far as being blocked, it seems I was lumped in with the rascals.
I look forward to having some fun with everyone given the political excitement that's building and of course don't forget the Olympics in China, well I'm sure the opening ceremonies will be fun to watch.
Ruth, I'll try zing just enough to make it worthwhile for your niece (?)
I wish all my old and soon to be new friends at IB a happy and healthy new year and may at least some of your resolutions stick!
Dear North thanks for you email and I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom and son. I'll continue to keep them in my prayers. You are a light!
Ron, I think you made some great suggestions, I hope they are adopted. I think IB admin would do well to have you as part of an Oversight committee.
Be well everyone,
__Steve__Welcome Back! : ) Thanks for the prayers, I told no one, until I posted it with Kates.. resonating with her anquish, and hoping for thiers and her Father's peace and comfort. Mom's been fading literally since June, losing almost 40 pounds now. Lee's news came out of left field.. we were doing dish's Christmas Afternoon... a shocker, a heart-breaking, wrenching tool of emotional destruction for a parent to hear--one of those events which are seldom expected. Also, I'm proud to Mom-brag he feels he's close to a 4.0 average this past semester.. he's half-way through 3 years already, and he just turned 19 last month, on one kidney running at 70%! He amazes me. In a year and half; he'll be a PC Programmer Analyst. My babyyyyy lol
It IS the Season of Perpeutal Hope, and Abundant New Surprises.. Happy New Year EveryOne!
goodsundayeveryone,
thinking about Scotty today. Scotty is eleven and when he was around 8 1/2 or 9 they found a tumor in his brain and it turned out to be cancer. He went through surgery and chemo and was in remission for about a year or less when the cancer was discovered again...more chemo, more treatments...a few months ago he was sent home and hospice was called in to help his family make Scotty's time as comfortable as possible...Scotty is still with us as the cancer takes it terrible time having it's way with Scott's brain. Through it all his Mom and Dad and Brother and Grandmom have tried to live a "normal" life, Mom and Dad(divorced) working full time jobs, caring for a healthy boy and a very sick boy with Grandma helping and at the ready. Folks at Mom's place of employment got together and donated vacation time so she could be home with Scott. Through all this Grandma would email updates on Scotty's condition and this past Christmas update was the first time I detected a break in her Spirit..a tiredness in her voice...an anger in her towards the cancer that is...Really, they have all been too busy to break, to get tired, to stumble in their climb, but now it is starting to happen. This family is but one where a young child is journeying through a terminal illness and their loved ones journey with them....the journey is unimaginable for those of us who have healty children and we count our blessings....but these families are also blessed in the deepest way imaginable blessed with a love so deeply tested that the fringes of that love start to tear apart, to stretch, because that love cannot be contained within any form, ever again.....now it emcompasses, completely...Scotty has lead them and they have followed each and every step of the way....
have a wonderful day everyone, ruth
I can't get into my myspace, hotmail or 2 other sites again, 2 days now!! This has been ongoing since the 18th... why do I bother? argggh
Ruth..it is heartwrenching to have a child, whom has a serious illness like my son; but, I cannot fathome the despair a parent would endure if their child were terminal. I send offerings of prayers, love and peace to this remarkable family.
Thanks Keith, same to you.
I say why stop at a Third Jesus, why not Fourth or Fifth or as many as there are re-incarnating Buddhas. Jesus made in the image we want him to be. I say it's all about what kind of product you have out there in the marketplace, who is buying and selling.
I wish Deepak would write a book on a Transformational Mohammed.... for the rest of us!!
I must say Ruth, you have a beautiful way of expressing yourself. "Love deeply tested"...well said and true, from my recent experiences with Marina and my Mom.
BUSHCO'S 10 DUMBEST ARGUMENTS OF THE YEAR!
The Bush administration's dumbest legal arguments of the year.
By Dahlia Lithwick
This time last year, I offered up a top 10 list of the most appalling civil-liberties violations by the Bush administration in 2006. The grim truth is, not much has changed. The Bush administration continues to limit our basic freedoms, conceal its own worst behavior, and insist that it does all this in order to make us more free. In that spirit, it seemed an opportune moment to commemorate the administration's worst legal justifications and arguments of the year. And so I humbly offer this new year's roundup: The Bush Administration's Top 10 Stupidest Legal Arguments of 2007.
10. The NSA's eavesdropping was limited in scope.
9. Scooter Libby's sentence was commuted because it was excessive.
8. The vice president's office is not a part of the executive branch.
7. The Guantanamo Bay detainees enjoy more legal rights than any prisoners of war in history.
6. Water-boarding may not be torture.
5. Everyone who has ever spoken to the president about anything is barred from congressional testimony by executive privilege.
4. Nine U.S. attorneys were fired by nobody, but for good reason.
3. Alberto Gonzales.
2. State secrets.
1. The United States "does not torture".
For elaborations see the artcile:
http://www.slate.com/id/2179934/pagenum/2/
After ALL his whining, ALL his blaming of the Democratic Congress for 'not supporting the troops', after ALL the demands AND AFTER THE DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS FINALLY GRABBED IT'S ANKLES AND GAVE HIM EXACTLY WHAT HE WANTED....
Bush..WHILE ON VACATION ONCE AGAIN...finally had someone READ the damn thing to him.
In his newest hissy fit he will leave the troops UNFUNDED by VETOING THE EXACT BILL HE DEMANDED IN HIS LAST HISSY FIT!
HE DECIDED TO VETO THE VERY FUNDING HE DEMANDED!!!
All because he does NOT WANT TO ALLOW ANY AMERICAN OR AMERICAN COMPANY TO HAVE THE RIGHT TO SUE IRAQ FOR ANY WRONGDOING!!!!
Now you tell ME....WHAT IS THIS MAN'S TRUE PRIORITY????
BUSH YOU NEED TO GO!!!
NOW, I CERTAINLY HOPE the Democrats will FINALLY NAIL HIM ON THIS ONE!!!
Bush Acknowledges Concerns About Economy
"CRAWFORD, Texas (AP) — President Bush tried Saturday to assure many families that he knows they are struggling to pay bills, even as he again defended the economy's strength.
"Some of you worry about your ability to afford health care coverage for your families," Bush said in his weekly radio address, recorded at his Texas ranch.
"Some of you are concerned about meeting your monthly mortgage payments," Bush said. "Some of you worry about the impact of rising energy costs on fueling your cars and heating your homes. You expect your elected leaders in Washington to address these pressures." "
This says it all.
----
Bush's best-laid plans
"By Andrew J. Bacevich
December 30, 2007
"Viewed from a historian's perspective, the Bush administration since 9/11 has ransacked the past to conjure up comforting expectations for the future. President Bush excels in this exercise, expressing confidence that the " untamed fire of freedom" will one day soon "reach the darkest corners of our world." Yet as the assassination of Benazir Bhutto reminds us yet again, events refuse to play along. History remains stubbornly recalcitrant.
Bush would have us believe otherwise. History, he insists, "has a visible direction, set by liberty and the Author of Liberty." That direction, the president believes, tends toward peace, democracy and freedom for all humankind. "
[...]
"Bush dreamed of managing history. It turns out that he cannot even manage Pakistan. Thus does the Author of Liberty mock the pretensions of those who presume to understand his intentions and to interpret his will."
Congratulations Mr. Bush: We Failed In Iraq
Yes it is now official, regardless of what they say from today forward.
Before we invaded a country without provocation in time of peace, it was free of 'terrorists', 'extremists' or 'al Queda or 'resistance fighters'
Almost 5 years later, there is no place safe in that country from these people.
If that does not qualify as an utter and complete failure, I can't think of anything else that does.
Tee good news: it took 13 years to figure this out in Vietnam. Iraq tool just about 5.
So says Rear Admiral Gregory Smith. Can we beg the help of the rest of the world NOW and bring back the men we are grinding into the dust, or do Mr Bush's business partners still need to make more money on this?
Can we just GIVE them the money and bring the troops home, too?
No place in Iraq is safe, says US military
It'll take Superman to undo effects of Bush's Kryptonite
Looking at the calendar stirs a wistful feeling about the fleeting moments of the Bush administration. At least another year would be required to work up a credible impeachment panel.
Democrats are so consumed with the appearance of business as usual that their puny majority in Congress has neither the time nor the heart for a rigorous look at the incompetence, mismanagement and abuse of executive power that define President Bush's two terms in office.
Respected conservatives such as Bruce Fein, a legal scholar, international lawyer and former Reagan-administration official, have long argued the public must not flinch at the word impeachment. He and others see it as an investigative and disciplinary tool to right the balance of power in government.
[...]
This administration invented reams of inherent powers for itself that are wrapped up in a spooky double-bind of being self-labeled as so sensitive they cannot be acknowledged, let alone scrutinized.
Americans are dangerously in the dark about abusive executive powers that will be blithely embraced by the next occupant of the White House. Please note the topic does not come up during the presidential campaign.
Damn the Tapes, It's Time to Sing the Chorus "We Won't Live in a Torture State"
by Jill McLaughlin
www.opednews.com
December 29, 2007 at 10:55:48
So there has been a lot of hullabaloo about the destruction of the CIA interrogation tapes. There is speculation and prediction. It's another one of those moments, as in many moments of the past seven years that it appears that Congress can say to the Bush Administration "gotcha". But sadly and strangely these moments pile up and are swept away through the media (CNN) posing absurd questions to viewers like "is water boarding torture?" and the Democrat-led Congress backing off with their investigations most likely because of their own complicity and collusion in this…consider Nancy Pelosi. She's known of these tapes for quite some time. (no wonder impeachment is off the table).
OK, OK, there is no such a thing as a new year, just change. And happiness, I know, it's a matter of comparing past and present, and of hoping for a future in which sensations are so vividly thrilling that there is no time to compare. But how can sensations be that way? Does it depend, really, in the kind of sensation, or the kind of attention you pay? I think it's the latter. So, next year, pay attention.
Whether you pay attention, or not,
HAPPY NEW YEAR
diaby......you really need my attention badly, hmmm????
diaby, I have nothing against anyone. What people do is their business as long as it is not unhealthy to others. But diabh, your life seems sad tragic and full of pain....and it is reflected in the way you consistently express yourself in terms of suffering and projections of your insecurities. You talk about every aspect of life in terms of painful, sad, brutal and bloody desires with a put humor...and you do it in the most hilarious ways. My guess is that the old man never kissed you when he was finished and just left you lying in a shocked position on the sheets silently crying. Hmmmm????
Well that isn't my prob, diabh. What I think is that the messages from you are actually your way of saying, without begging, "Please come to Calif. You didn't forget, did you? Please John, come to Calif. I've been a very bad boy and I need a good spanking. I need your discipline. Don't leave me alone out here in the night again"
Hmmmmm??????
;-)
Gosh the anger inside of you, the rage at what the old man made his bad boy do, the shame you must still carry inside, the way you were treated in High School by the football team....poor poor little urchin. Poor diaby. You are such a shattered little man, still the boy silently crying with the painful heart after the old man left you alone in the dark. Still hoping, waiting desperately for him to come back, to do it again, to tell you he loves you and you are a good boy. Isn't that why you try to shock and disgust the older men you write to here? Hmmm??????
SPIRITUAL LOW LEVEL ..... LOVELESSNESS .... SELFISH LOVE ....
The greatest evidence of humanity’s spiritual low level is lovelessness, which is evident amongst people everywhere. Selfish love has steadily increased and hardly anyone is practicing neighbourly love anymore, hence there also has to be a profane state on earth, a state of activity by evil forces, where God’s adversary always has the upper hand and people are his willing subjects. The spiritual darkness is getting increasingly worse, rays of light are only seldom recognisable and even frequently feigned by deceptive lights without strength of radiance…. Judging by people’s degree of love the time of the end has clearly arrived….
An obvious decline can be detected, people are firmly attached to matter, they only value their body and its comfort, earthly success and an increase of earthly commodities. They do not believe the fact that their souls are suffering extreme hardship since they do not believe in the soul’s life after death, indeed, they frequently even deny having a soul. They cannot be forced into a different mode of thinking, their free will has to be respected, but accordingly they also prepare their own fate after their death.
