My parents and my grand parents. I got so much love from them .I didn't even know if they had any problems. Especially my grand dad!
i would like to believe we are all heroes or heroines for each other at one time or another in our lives.
Why! You are, dear reader! You! You! You!
Be ye male or female in your current incarnation.
It is you! I look up to you! You...and you, alone.
It is all about you, whoever you think you are.
No need to be shy. Nay! Be ye proud! Stand tall!
Besides...how could you possibly be heroic without me?
Well, it's been you for a long time, but now I have my hands full being one myself :D:) Thank you for showing me how, dear Deepak! May you always be blessed.
I have 3 heros here. They are Deepak, D.K. Matai and Avtar.
My 3 heroines are North, Kate and Heather. I also like Mrs. Bahl and Ms. Chibber.
Well said Keith #2. We support one another on a hero/heroine journey...that, by the way, shines.
My heros/heroines in this moment are the polar bears and walruses in the movie Arctic Tale which I just watched with family. I had never seen polar bears hunt for food...they are so powerful and graceful. And I never knew that walruses memorize faces through the touch of their whiskers. Amazing Nature...something to celebrate this season and every season.
Other heroes and heroines are the birds chirping outside my door this winter day. Their song is always a sign of joyful continuity. Now I hear a
Flicker...amazing how quickly they found the bird feeder.
Aloha Everyone
I too agree with everything that is said and I would have to add it is our ancestors, the reptilians. love patty
Peter Pan!
for sure,
and there's always a captain Hook,
Marco Polo?
Han Solo?
Captain Kirk?
;)
What else is new,
Wesolych Swiat!
Fijn kerst,
Merry Christmas,
Love, Passion

My parents because I'm old enough now to see all the struggles they went through for me. With all their problems and failures, they sacrificed daily, and mightily, to give their kids a better life than they had.
First I had to grow through the years where I blamed them for all their shortcomings, and then blamed them for my shortcomings. Let's see, that took about 30 years...
Public figures - the Dalai Lama, and Dharma Master Hsin Tao of Ling Jiou Mountain in Taiwan. These guys get the Buddha, and they haven't allowed their religious status to bloat up their egos.
Musicians - Brazil's Hermeto Pascoal for living the life of a five-year-old supergenius at age 60-something. Apparently nobody told this guy you have to give up the wonder of being a little kid...
And his student and my mentor, Jovino Santos Neto (keyboardist for 15 years with Hermeto's Gruppo). Jovino is great working with his student ensembles. He has a great knack for liberating the player inside the student. He also still makes time to gig with his students locally for the tips jar, even though he's internationally famous and pulls down gigs like the Kennedy Center.
Not on my hero list: politicians, movie stars, the super-rich, etc. Those folks are too far away from me, and whatever the media shows me is not the real person anyway, so why bother?
Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava)
And mysteriously, Mallika (sorry)
Lakota Sioux - The Bravest Americans
These folks have put it on the line for their principals. That makes them HEROES. They always have been brave people....look what they passed through to get to this moment.
I see them as more than just brave. This act will have many negative repercussions for them, a fact I am sure they are WELL aware of. They are going to be squeezed by this Administration who does not care one lick about people. They are going to be squeezes by South Dakota, a state that still hates them. The IRS is going to come down on them, and I am certain all the federal moneys going there will stop. and most of all, th FBI, who STILL haunts them over the killing of those FBI agents, are going to declare open season on them.
They know all this. Still, they are standing up.
It is one of the bravest things I have seen in my lifetime.

Lakota Sioux - The Bravest Americans

And So It Begins
In an incredible irony, the very people that the United States have most oppressed throughout our history may hold the key to freedom for all of us.
...
That moment has come. In September of this year, the United Nations passed a non-binding Resolution on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Naturally, Canada, the United States and Australia refused to sign, but this resolution paved the way for a move that has been waiting in the wings, so to speak, since the 1970s.
On Wednesday of this week, Russell Means led a delegation of the Lakota Sioux people to the U.S. State Department and the embassies of Bolivia, Chile, South Africa and Venezuela, declaring their secession from the United States of America.
Means stated, "We are no longer citizens of the United States of America and all those who live in the five-state area that encompasses our country are free to join us." The lands of the Lakota Sioux encompass portions of Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming and Montana. In the coming weeks, they will take their diplomatic mission overseas to seek further support.
Means also stated that anyone willing to renounce their U.S. citizenship would live on Lakota land tax free, and that the Lakota would issue their own passports and driving licenses. Since a large group of libertarians have recently moved to Wyoming, this opens up some interesting possibilities for a free society growing up in our midst.
The coming road will not be an easy one. I cannot see the U.S. neo-conservatives leaving this alone. I imagine that there will be another bloody and vicious siege taking place on Lakota land, but I also believe that Means has timed his move correctly. If this happens as I fear it will, the neo-conservatives will be the clear authors of their own destruction. The American people have had enough!

Heroes and Heroines, ...... the mythical beings that transcend humanity and rise above for everyone to look up to, or are they? why not the girl with the smile that just made you feel good! or that favorite uncle who is just a little out of control! or the boss who is so strict until that point when all of a sudden he is human? Heroes and heroines are everyone around us, and hopefully we can be heroes or heroines to them!

Oh Marek you make me smile:) I had forgotten how Hollywood glamorized our ancestors, the reptilian in a formidable form : a crocodile that had swallowed a clock. There is a native story of a lizard lazing under the shade of a rock, which was approached by a snake. The snake wondered if he might join the lizard. The lizard agreed and welcomed the snake. The snake told the lizard that he was very brave because if he was hungry he would have eat him. The lizard said, “You must think that I just sleep and day dream under this rock? But I am able to see the past and future. I saw that you have just eaten and with that I know you won’t be hungry for another day or two where I will be long gone.” The Lizard is a totem for Sacred Prophecy. We were never born nor never die. Love patty and no need for heroes…of the Hollywood type. Just enough room for the Deepak's...

Benazir Bhutto for her gracious sacrifice of her own life for the sake of liberty and democracy. May she rest in peace.
