Gayatri Jayaraman - February 26, 2008
After almost ten years in the field and going through a process of elimination - drifting from what i thought i wanted to do to things i definitely didn't want to - i have pretty much stumbled upon a dream job - one that combines meaningful work with my only skills in life - writing and asking questions. Im taking over a portfolio at People magazine's India edition, and while that might just trigger celeb alarms to most, to me its about finding true heroes amongst this country of so-much-going-on.
Having eschewed the celebrity portfolio, I am on a countrywide manhunt - to find people; children, farmers, peons and housewives, students, professors, activists and non-organised changemakers, people just doing their jobs the best way they can to make a difference to their own or other people's environments.
If any of you are or know of any such people - it could be a school kid whose pocket money goes to bettering his environment in some small way - nothing is too big or too small - please do pass them on to me at spotjogging@gmail.com. or post here and ill pick up the thread and move it forward. I promise you i will travel to the length and breadth of this country to do them and their work justice.
Be on the look out guys and do help me give some unsung hero the credit he or she deserves. cheers

Gayatri,
I'm happy to meet you and to know that you are contributing bright and positive news to our world. You represent a pivotal point that can turn the tone of our media around. I hope other media sources will follow the path of good news and in doing so create more balance.
I read an article recently that mentioned how positive news keeps people lethargic and that they are not inspired to action. Negative news about war and trouble cause people to act. And the latter did happen for me last week. But too much negativity creates fear and despair. What would balance look like, feel like, sound like?
Trish~~

I'm happy to meet you and to k
Anouradha Bakshi; whom gives her life, to help
Anouradha Bakshi; whom gives her life, to help society's cast-aways.. children, women.. young and old... they are the ones making a huge difference, without the much-needed tremendous financial support. Having known Anou a few years, she is one of a kind!! She founded Project WHY. Her parents walked with Gandhi! She has taken a large role, in saving the life of Utpal; a little boy, dropped into a pot of boiling fish-oil.. scars healing; but inside the child; only patience, love and diligence from someone like Anou; will give this beautiful boy, Utpal a chance at life, without abandonment to corrupt orphanages, the streets..child slavery to men in power, in ways; we could not possibly imagine the true horror and suffering for them! I bow in Anou's direction..
Also, Kavita Chhibber; is another hero out of India. She is a successful single, female entrepeneur..starting her own online magazine..she sings beautifully, and portions of cd sales, go to help a woman working to benefit a leprosy colony...
I herald much tribute and justifiable accolades, to these two women for showing me that no matter where one is in life; one can always make a difference!!
They are both members of IB here; so just click their links, to get their amazing profiles and links.
CONGRATULATIONS!! on the dream job!!
