My son and I had a male cat, long-haired..and such a dark brown, almost black..but he was brown indeed. He had a strip of white, from neck to belly...when he layed down, he looked like an oreo cookie.. same colour; and a peek of white in the middle; so, that is what my son named our cat.. Oreo!!
I did not think I could love an animal so much; nor did I know yet, how much one could make me laugh, with tears.. the fun!!
After almost 2 years.. my son got ill, tested positive for allergy to Oreo; as well his kidney was shutting down. : (
We had to give Oreo away! It was so hard to be strong; as I loved Oreo; and so did my son! He was sick, now losing a pet he loved. I felt like the wicked witch!! But, how could we keep him, when my son was so ill, causing him to react; as his immune system was so low?
Nobody understood from a mothers perspective; so I had to make the command decision; to find Oreo a knew home.
It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do...was make that decision! My sons health were more important, his life were at stake!
So, I did what I had to do... my sons health improved with time, after his kidney shut down, and he had an operation.. yada yada yada.
But, to be honest, our hearts are still very broken, in losing Oreo. Even my son understood it was the right thing to do...it took 3 years for my sons health to improve. Now, he's in college, not feeling so great again...no doubt, improper diet and sleep..college stress..
so, Oreo showed me, the bond between a cat and a human being; is one to be treasured, honoured, cherished... we are all one living family!!
WE Still Love U Oreo!!
