I Need Your Love—Is That True?

In I Need Your Love—Is That True? Bestselling author Byron Katie examines a universal, age-old source of anxiety: our relationships with others.

In this groundbreaking book, Katie helps you question everything you have been taught to do to gain love and approval. In doing this, you discover how to find genuine love and connection.

The usual advice offered in self-help books and reinforced by our culture advocates a stressful, all-consuming quest for love and approval. We are advised to learn self-marketing and manipulative skills—how to attract, impress, seduce, and often pretend to be something we aren’t. This approach doesn’t work. It leaves millions of walking wounded—those who, having failed to find love or appreciation, blame themselves and conclude that they are unworthy of love.

I Need Your Love—Is That True? helps you illuminate every area in your life where you seem to lack what you long for most—the love of your spouse, the respect of your child, a lover’s tenderness, or the esteem of your boss. Through its penetrating inquiry, you will quickly discover the falseness of the accepted ways of seeking love and approval, and also of the mythology that equates love with need. Using the method in this book, you will inquire into painful beliefs that you’ve based your whole life on—and be delighted to see them evaporate. Katie shows you how unraveling the knots in the search for love, approval, and appreciation brings real love and puts you in charge of your own happiness.

“Everyone agrees that love is wonderful, except when it’s terrible. People spend their whole lives tantalized by love—seeking it, trying to hold on to it, or trying to get over it. Not far behind love, as major preoccupations, come approval and appreciation. From childhood on, most people spend much of their energy in a relentless pursuit of these things, trying out different methods to be noticed, to please, to impress, and to win other people’s love, thinking that’s just the way life is. This effort can become so constant and unquestioned that we barely notice it anymore.

This book takes a close look at what works and what doesn’t in the quest for love and approval. It will help you find a way to be happier in love and more effective in all your relationships. What you learn here will bring fulfillment to all kinds of relationships, including romantic love, dating, marriage, work, and friendship.” —Byron Katie

After the deaths of Jean Klein and Douglas Harding, Byron Katie is the best advaita teacher out there, she has 1001 ways of saying goodbye...
Just my opinion.

Byron Katie is one of those persons that can truly stand into their own strength. She is a good teacher to teach people to find their own strength too.

Still, it is her truth and she can only encourage someone else to find his/hers.

Here's my experience:

The freedom and joy of simple being
discovered in the labyrinth
made my life a peaceful one
and now it is for me a way of seeing
in my life that "I am" can be the hint
and by making poems in this phase, it is done

You see I meditate a lot
and this is what I always got:
a peaceful insight helping me along
teaching me how in life to be strong

Bringing teachers on my path
during every season of my life
showing me their own growing path
encouraging me to take mine

My heart is grateful, full of love
for everyone who came along
and now as I part from the above
I feel again, on my own: strong

Love, Mieke

Another light in our crystal community! That light penetrates mass consciousness in direct relationship to author BK (and all authors) walking her talk.

All of us who talk of love, light, peace and our new humanity are responsible for walking our talk. These higher vibrations will manifest on earth when we do more than talk about them.

Love...what a delightful subject. I think of my Fairy friends who came through playfully during the ANH forum. I think of my 9-person ANH global circle who are starting to email. I think of family. I think of lovers and flowers and the great blue heron who did downward rolls with the strong wind along the river. So playful! Love is playful...are we humans expressing that joy?

Links of Love start within. It's the only stable ground/dimension. I have had so many people come and go in my life that if I depended on that external reality for my well-being I would be shaky to say the least.

I'm grateful NOW for those I link with in the external world. NOW is the effect of what passed away yesterday. I hold no regret or judgement (which took me time to learn). NOW is what makes all things new. Be still NOW and receive information and inspiration! It's like a cross-over point of receiving and transmitting.

NOW is the birthing of what will sprout and blossom tomorrow. Mother Nature rules!

Love is fresh and alive NOW like the winds of spring. Love is inside out...and an underground uprising.

Trish~~

Aloha Everyone

Her four questions and turn around work. She is a wonderful teacher of accessing the right brain. For a link to a scientist who explains the left and right brain after a stroke just click my name. Asking the question is it true as who am I is so powerful. love patty

Ah...the cool, detached, I don't really NEED your love, in fact I do not desire it at all, rather from my enlightened viewpoint I CHOOSE to love you, as I would choose to "go green", choose to eat a high fiber diet, choose to take up hiking.
I agree...in the word of Gloria Steinhein "a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle".

Thank you Patty, we saw it all through Avtar's blog and it is a joy to relive it again :)

Thanks, Mieke

Alright, alright . . .

Can we just 'make out' then . . .

har har har

dear Patty, that is quite extraordinary. thanks for sharing here, in your comment #4.

Well, I guess I rule out posting links on Avtar's thread, Meike ;)

Love is strange.
Has the good man been back yet? I'll go look. Lot of heavy stuff pressing down on the thread this week. :)

This must be some book!

I have heard of Katie's work - Patty had mentioned her awhile back at IB - and I have watched some youtube segments. The process seems helpful in lessening the grip of strong feelings and hurts, etc. by questioning their accuracy (is it true, really true, etc ..)

I find what works for me, is to live fully in the present moment, and give thanks for the amazing life I have (even when it's ... less that seeming perfect)
and allow others to make their own choices and discoveries and when problems come up - discuss and find solutions.

If that doesn't work,
I agree to disagree

and then
take a walk in the park,
at sunset
:)

Geeze, I would think having the same name... is a given to the I am:) She is a wonder. I purchased all three of her books on audio and I feel her first: Loving What is: Four Questions That Can Change Your Life, was the one I enjoyed the most. With my work, when a family loses a loved one, I can make the shift from witnessing their sadness to know it is a deep deep love. What I love about Byron Katie is teaches The Work in prisons.

Byron Katie is like a Eckhart Tolle. In fact it was on an Eckhart Tolle audio that I heard about her. He shared about her experience in the hospital with a woman who told Byron Katie to look at her leg, which was twice the size of the other. When Byron Katie asked her if that was true? The woman burst out laughing.

We live in a world of perceptions... As Deepak shares reality is an artifact of our imagination and why fight what is? The human experience is problematic:) and this too will pass like the setting sun... love patty enjoying your walk:)

I'm so glad to have discovered this book in this forum!

I'm looking forward to puchasing it and also listing it as a recommended read inside my blog. It is something i've (any many others) in my circle of friends have been searching for. I think when we lose hope of ever finding love it sometimes take us on a different path that leads to self destruction.

So with all my new-found friends here in this forum.... I would personally like to express my sincere gratitude for welcoming me here!
Lily S.

dear Lily,
It's nice to have you here, sharing!
love,
~ Kate

Aloha Lily

I know you will love Byron Katie:) enjoy, love patty
