My Mother

Mallika Chopra - March 16, 2008

I walked into a room where my mother sat, taking just a moment for herself. We were in Costa Rica for a conference, and until 15 minutes before, she had watched my kids for two days so I could attend meetings. She was finally taking a moment for herself.
I told her that we needed help. My mother

got up, headed to her hotel room, and within two hours was on a plane to Atlanta to help my brother and his wife take care of their baby.
This is my mother. This is what a Mother represents and means to me.
Full of love. Always sacrificing herself. Always willing to give with no expectation to receive.
This is my mother.

Beautuful... indeed she's the matriarch behind the empire... she should be honored.

u seem to be a very close-knit family built on strong, abiding love! it is a very nice and uplifting story, no doubt! congrats!

Aloha Mallika

Our children are our parents (meaning they are constantly teaching us we are powerless) and our parents are our children (meaning they do the best they can with what knowledge they have). That little baby has a lot of power:) and what a loving, nurturing and caring grandmother it has:) It must be fun:) being caught in the middle. Be kind and gentle to yourself for that is what your mother wants for you:) And that will resonate with your brother and his wife. A self loving mother has self loving children. love patty

Hi
I am fro India and I can relate to this post. I have made umpteen calls to my mom when my maid used to take leave without informing us .. My mom used to just sit in the cab and rush to my place and would happily look after her grand son, and i could attend all the meetings in my office ... And my dad has always given me guidance in my life and my career.
Both are very very important..Thanks for this post..Somethings don't change wherever you go , wherever you are

The New York Times recently published an in-depth profile of Barack's mother, Stanley Ann Dunham Soetoro. The Times described Ms. Soetoro as an idealistic and exacting mother, who taught her young son "the importance of honesty, straight talk, and independent judgment." She provided her children a broad and generous understanding of the world. Despite long periods of time spent apart, Barack spoke of his mother as "the single constant in my life" while growing up. In the preface to his first book, "Dreams From My Father," Barack wrote that his mother was "the kindest, most generous spirit I have ever known, and that what is best in me I owe to her."

M'ma

Mother of nature and love-flesh

Please, come
Come here and help me, now

I'll take your hand
And I will enter into your realm of simplicity
Please help me to wash away
This complexity of fear
That tie me of being me
And seeing you

Please no secrets anymore...

It always amazes me how our parents just give and give and never ask for anything in return but the best for us. Its a selfless love that is endless. I wonder if we would be the same with our children?

Mallika,

I hope that your mother will consider joining our circle and circles at the 2009 Alliance for a New Humanity. She has much to offer this global body/family. As women we support one another in the birthing of light. Maybe your family will give her this support...if she so chooses.

Trish~~
