Thank God for Dick

Gotham Chopra - March 12, 2008

Just today as I paid almost $4 per gallon to fill gas in my car, I thought to myself, thank goodness the current administration is sending Vice President Dick Cheney to the Middle East to meet with oil executives with the intention of helping to bring down gas prices.

The last time Dick Cheney got involved in similar meetings with oil executives, he was one of them! That was about 8 years ago. A gallon of gas cost $1.42. A barrel of crude oil traded at about $30 (these days we're looking at about $109).

Okay I'm wrong. Dick Cheney has actually been involved with the energy industry since then. While VP, Cheney led the crafting of the administration's energy policy. He worked closely with his old cronies, oil execs and lobbyists, in closed door meetings, the records of which have never been made public to build the plan that seems to have, at least in part, contributed to where we are now.

Where we are now is that we are paying more at the pump than at anytime in our history. Where we are now is that we are more entrenched in the Middle East and more indebted to nations that violate human rights in unprecedented fashion. And oh by the way, where we are now is that oil companies are making record profits.

So remind me again why I should have any confidence whatsoever in Dick Cheney and his current mission. Remind me again why this isn't just another example of the idiocy of this presidency and why we should not grieve the years that we have lost with this leadership the last 8 years.

I realize this story is not as sexy as Eliot Spitzer and the chicks he's been nailing. I realize it's not as cool as talking about race or gender in politics. But then again, this actually matters.

Actually Gotham this is one of your better posts bringing awareness to the intentions of a few that are a detriment to the many.

It would seem, based on actual effect, that the intention was not to insure or increase the oil supply by going into to Iraq but actually to restrict and control it, decreasing supply and increasing prices.

Iraq has never been at war with us and individuals in the US Administration are simply occupying the country.

I am sure good will come of it though. We will switch from Oil to better energy methods.

What we need now is a Manhattan Scale project run by people with holistic intention to switch the country and the world from oil.

With the World’s dependency on Oil being a threat to Global security the issue demands that the collective unite and transcend the need for oil with ingenuity and real effort.

If we can manifest a focused collective intention to transcend oil dependency we will.

Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do
I'm half crazy all for the love of you
It won't be a sylish marriage
I can't afford a carriage
But you'll look sweet upon the seat
Of a bicycle built for two.

Dear Gotham

Per CNN, the UK, Hong Kong, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Italy, Turkey, Portugal, Korea, Switzerland, Austria, and Croatia (and possibly other countries) all pay more per gallon than US citizens do. And yet many of these countries and their citizens are thriving nonentheless.

The US is spoiled, compared to the rest of the world, in so many respects. One reason the US has a hard time keeping the respect of other nations is that we're so spoiled. It's not just a perception, it's a reality. You yourself have pointed this out in the past.

It's time to be grateful for what we have. And it's time to suck it up, time to stop crying in our milk, time to stop being so dependent on gas and gas-fueled vehicles.

love, h

As for Dick going to the Middle East, it may very well be to make preparations for offensive moves against Iran. This idea is supported by Admiral William Fallon, with his forced resignation as head of the U.S. Central Command overseeing Middle East operations in the last few days. It is claimed Gates Secretary of Defense stopped taking his phone calls which is how the need for Fallon to resign was communicated.

Fallon disagrees with Bush and his circle of influence favoring wisdom and avoiding the use of force. Fallon has put up resistance to any offensive moves against Iran. He stated “we are not going to war with Iran” something to the effect it would be a very foolish thing to do. This contradicts the intentions of Bush and Cheney.

So the game plan could be to have Israel launch a strike on Iran and then hope Iran retaliates so that we can then engage them, unplanned of course. In a general sense it is impossible for the military to do anything that is unplanned by the way, so if it happens it had months of planning.

Hello Gotham and Everyone,

Wow, I just came from the ole gas pump and happened to look up and check the price THIS WEEK..last week I paid...3.39/gal. today 3.49/gal and I will admit I used a bad word and Dick Cheney and his vice president Georgie came to mind right along with my bad word, but..yet..we keep paying, like the good little gas additcted numbskulls we have blossomed into. So, as much as I would love to puff up my bossy little chest and point my angry little finger in their faces and give them a good scold...I realize that we will keep right on paying unless we do something about it and about them and their oil companines and I do not think electing Barak, Hillary, or McCain is going to do it for us...I think the people may have to take the bull by the horns and bring him down ourselves....some gas outs maybe....some walks in washington....some just plain FU's we're broke and angry and WE AREN'T GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE...kind of thing...something needs to be done.

You must be smiling again, Gotham...ole Miss came through for Barak..

have a greatday everyone, ruth

War with Iran may be necessary and in divine order and instrumental to the evolution of mankind, so it might happen just like the conflict in Iraq.

War is necessary because the collective has not evolved enough to stop a small number of people from impeding the evolution of humanity. The division and separation that weakens the many creates the various triggers that are needed to stimulate the evolution of mankind and create a unity consciousness, a healing of the whole body.

If we could simply evolve and unify the people of the planet to stop the few that impede the evolution of mankind we could skip this terrible and hard experience scenario and shift right into Peace, prosperity and abundance.

No thing stops evolution for long, we do not really have a choice of whether or not we evolve; we do have a choice as to what the experience will be. The best experience comes from not resisting or impeding evolution, but to go with the natural flow which leads to benefit, to resist leads to detriment.

War is necessary because the collective has not evolved enough to stop a small number of people from impeding the evolution of humanity.

War is necessary because the collective has not evolved enough to stop a small number of people from impeding the evolution of humanity.

Bush can quote me on that.

The strife and tribulation leads to unity, by grabbing our attention, forcing us to seek the truth that destroys the fictions that plague the world and creates separation which threatens the expansion and enjoyment of life.

If we could just see the wisdom and move to participatory self government with the authenticated and measured voice of the people and a transfer of power from the few to an informed many; spurring our evolution, we could avoid all the conflict. Of course that collective decision that results in peace and harmony depends on each individual’s choice to do so.

War is nature’s way of culling the lower or disconnected consciousness which impede evolution.

A world of compassion and collective unity has no evolutionary need for war, so war and unresolved conflict do not exist.

As always everything done is in divine order, but let us not forget, so are the consquences.

I should clarify the above. We would have an end to unresolved or perpetual conflict. We will always have conflict. If there is just one bathroom and two people need to use it at the same time there is a conflict, which results in the need for some quick diplomacy. Yet through wisodm, collective effort, unity, and the resulting higher intelligence an additional bathroom can be built to help meet the demands for concurrent bathroom use alleviating future conflict and the need for diplomacy situations in the future.

Our shared reality is determined by the sum of our collective choices. The flavor of that reality is determined by the dominant volume of choices being based on spirit or egoic intention.

Choices based on ignorance and fear, or wisdom, intelligence and compassion.

This is why it is first crucial to be the presence of higher consciousness in one’s local domain helping to raise the consciousness of those around you and increasing awareness through dissemination of intelligence and insight.

Eventually a threshold is reached where enough of the individual choices are born of an evolved consciousness producing a shared reality that is pleasing to all and not subject to the influence of an irrational minority operating from an egoic perspective.

If technology is properly leveraged and a group properly organized this threshold needed to establish a new reality of peace, prosperity and abundance could be as small as 11% of the population. In fact it is a misguided 11% of the population that produce all the worlds problems because they are better organized and more unified than the other 88% which allows them to have the greatest influence.

If another 11% were to achieve the same level of organization and unity but operated based on holistic intentions the remaining 78% would fall into line with them rendering the influence of the misguided 11% null and void.

Dear Richard Thomas,

Just want to express my solidarity with your comments, especially with those directed towards the real impetus behind the oil-wars, and the urgent need to switch towards a more evolved form of energy. Congratulation to the one who uses the sword of knowledge skillfully.

Dear Gotham,

Your post is simply insensitive not just towards a few people, but towards the whole nations of the Middle East; palestinians, jews, arabs, turks, north africans, iranians basically those cultures who are presently being kept prisoners of someone else's politico-economical hegemony.

You could ask your dad what the oil is, in fact. It is not the stuff to put into your car, but the blood of the Mother Earth. It took billions of years of plant life on the Planet for it to mature, not for us to waste it in moving to and fro. It has a tremendous importance as a part of ecological balance. The knowledge of Ayurveda can be applied not just to the human body, but to the body at large, to our collective body of earth, which is not separate from our owns.

Peace

igor

Yeah, Thank God for Dick. Just about the only thing left to feel joyful.
