Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose (1885-6) by John Singer Sargent
Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose was painted in the autumns of 1885 and 1886, at Farnham House and Russell House, the successive Broadway homes of Frank Millet and his family. The two girls, Dorothy and Polly, daughters of the artist Frederick Barnard and his wife Alice, posed in specially made white dresses and, when the flowers in the garden faded, Sargent transplanted rose beds and sent new lilies to be planted in pots to retain the luxuriant background. It was executed entirely in the open air and, as the twilight was of such short duration, the easel, canvas and models had to be standing in readiness each evening for that particular light to appear. A problematic subject -- Sargent expressed his difficulties with his subject matter thus:
"Impossible brilliant colours of flowers and lamps and brightest green lawn background. Paints are not bright enough."
The dark and light story of our lives!

My, my, DK, you certainly wear your years easily; that's a lot of value you have added to our world for one so young. *I* thank the supra-universal consciousness for your wonderful presence, and like good ol' Norm, I'd like to meet you in person someday.
And now I can say I have something in common with you, other than our love of classic Hindi movie songs.
Mon ami DK!
Aaaaaaahhhh... so nice to see you! Really, I am happy to see you! You look fine! And this smile of yours... :) funny man! Contagious!
I wish you a rocking 40 years hold birthday!
But hmmmmmmmmm... I am curious...
What are you doing alone inside this hotel!?!?
Oh... I see... the girl is taking the picture!
Ok, Now I understand this smile!
Peace to you brother.
Your friend Jean
P.S: I like the painting. There is a amazing dimension inside the painting. After a moment of looking, this painting bring back peace to me.
Indeed, the dark and light story of our lives but bright enough if painted with SUC.
Yours, DK, is surely painted with SUC.
Your informal picture brought you more alive/near...
Now I understand. The end of thrities had to be somewhat difficult (recalling your backache and all that). The things may well be on some higher level within the next 2/3 years.
Happy B'day!!

The Bats and the Bees
Daily Kos
Sat Mar 01, 2008
Last year the Internet buzzed (okay, bad pun) with the word that bee colonies around the world were falling apart. While many explanations continue to be put forth for Colony Collapse Disorder, there's another creature that lives in huge colonies which are also facing a mysterious and spreading disaster.
Read on...

According to my vision based on my four-forces based theory of evolution someday this colony collapse thing will extend to humans and cities and ultimately to even villages.
The same force/mechanism which created egos in us, created homes, families, settlements, villages, cities, states, countries is now being transcended at all levels and will be responsible for the above collpases while acting in reverse.
Well, I am late for the party. I must belong to a different part of Typekey as I swear you were not 40 visible here yesterday.
But, of course, God bless you, DK and God bless the work.
Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Deeee.....Kaaaayyyyy Happy Birthday to you....have a wonderful day, year, lifetime......ruth
DK,
Happy birthday; wishing you many happy returns of this day.
Dear DK,
Like the magic of a picture with colors and scenes to evoke beauty,
so too can a library - transport to a world that is filled with beauty,
stories,
treasures ...
"Everyone has some kind of place that makes them feel transported to a magical realm. For some people it’s castles with their noble history and crumbling towers. For others it’s abandoned factories, ivy choked, a sense of foreboding around every corner. At Curious Expeditions, there has always been something about libraries. Row after row, shelf after shelf, there is nothing more magical than a beautiful old library.
Tucked away on the top of a hill in Prague is the Strahov Monestary, the second oldest monastery in Prague. Inside, divided into two major halls, is a breathtaking library. The amazing Theological Hall contains 18,000 religious texts, and the grand Philosophical Hall has over 42,000 ancient philosophical texts. Both are stunningly gorgeous. Strahov also contains a beautiful cabinet of curiosities, including bits of a Dodo bird, a large 18th century electrostatic device, numerous wonderfully old ocean specimens, and for unclear reasons many glass cases full of waxen fruit."

Happy B'day DK!
I don't know, but I thought he was like 32 at the most, as someone mentioned 39. I guess, when one gets older, everyone else gets younger :-)
I have no favorite paintings, but when I look at nature, I think to myself, what beautiful artwork that God paints and it's alive, as we try emanate the Makers lovely work. We can paint it but it's only a reflection and not alive, even though I think some come pretty close, as we honor God with highest form of flattery.
Love, Char
A little late, but from the heart- Happy Birthday dear DK!
This painting...wow... is one of those that steal your soul and run away with it :)))) To somewhere, out/in there, from where everything comes.
If I may say so, you look much younger than your years, but are much wiser. Some would call that luck :D
Here is a prayer to the Supra Universal Consciousness that you might enjoy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upddg7yHaSI
