Avtar Singh - March 19, 2008
The ego or mind constitutes the false or presumed identity built upon the unconsciousness of the observer or person. Hence, the perceived realities and identities by a person or observer are mere projections of the ego thru the colored glass of its unconsciousness. So long as we identify ourselves as the manifested ego, the falsehood of our identity would remain leading to the uncertainty, doubt, and fear throughout our lives.
The answer to the question – “Who Am I?” lies in the revelation via dissolution of the veil of the ego that constitutes the false identity of a person. The egoless awareness or consciousness bares the true or the absolute identity as is and independent of the manifested and relative space-time. This revelation is spiritually described as the “Self Realization” and can also be scientifically described as the state of massless Zero-point (fully dilated space-time) existence (or energy) or universal (cosmic) consciousness.
The practicality, significance, and benefits of the egoless awareness or consciousness are far beyond resolving the personal identity crisis and dissolving related uncertainty and fear. What can be more practical and beneficial than living a liberated life free from the threat of suffering and death hovering over our psyche? To be meaningful and purposeful, our definitions of practicality must mature beyond materialistic and measurable values and convictions.
Since, consciousness reveals the ultimate reality as is, it dissolves or transcends all questions that are mere artifacts of the unconsciousness of the ego. It also resolves the dilemmas of endless series of new questions being generated by the answers infected with the illusions of the ego-identity. All these endless series of questions and answers become irrelevant and dissolved into the enlightenment of consciousness. Even the stress and suffering of time and death dissolve into the eternity of consciousness and One Wholesome existence.
A note of caution, however, is that transcendence beyond questions is not avoidance of questions or playing an ostrich hiding its head in the sand. Transcendence is maturity achieved via living thru the questions until they become insignificant or irrelevant, similar to zooming out the vision to a broader view from a constrained view. Avoidance or ignoring of questions, on the other hand, is a premature declaration of victory by the ego that skillfully avoids transcendence or dissolution into the whole. Such premature avoidance would prohibit transcendence beyond time/evolution and result into irresolvable paradoxical or pseudo answers leading to more and more questions. Transcendence beyond questions is the transcendence beyond ego and time. A premature declaration of the ego to avoid questioning is not transcendence but avoidance, negligence, cowardice, and escapism that cover the doubts and ensuing questions under the rug of the egoism without dissolving them.
In summary, the genuinely realized answer to the question – “Who Am I” is the crucial Wisdom of the Ages that ends all suffering of the psyche (irrespective of the bodily or biological pain that can be controlled via modern medicine) and fulfills life with purpose and meaning. The answer also answers or dissolves many of the ultimate questions regarding the ultimate reality or God or existence. Such realization is the Buddha’s – “App Dipo Bhav” (Be your own light), Nanak’s - “Nij-Ghar” (Self-realization), and Jesus’ – “Selfless love”. It also resolves paradoxes of science and spirituality merging them into One Wholesome Wisdom founded on the universal consciousness, the true identity, of the Self or the Witnesser.

How do we know when we've arrived
precisely where Heaven be obtained?
My I can do what it wills, if
freedom is applied generously.
My I refuses to belong any place in particular.
I would say, as a pilgrim, who has wandered off a ways.
Egypt could be fun, Keith.
Dear Avtar,
It's that commadeered pagan festival of Easter right now and the very crux attached to it is Resurrection, in the Christian tradition.
Do you think that a true breakthrough to Witnesser, as with Jesus, you will probably allow, enables the cancelling of 'the effect of death' and the real freedom to manifest as material being, relative to others in what is a sea of Consciousness, or to manifest not?
Ha, it's another question!
Put another way, is the 'gap' between 'living' and 'dead' the result of Ego and thus self-created, which latter I would say for holistically valid reason rather than an 'opposing' illusion.
Thank you,
Ed.
Good morning Avtar,
Light and dark energies move through our body and our life. I know both. When I was a "lost soul" darkness was present. Now that I have found a higher aspect of mySelf I know more light. It takes time to re-fire and re-wire the brain and body. The good news is that we don't have to do this healing work alone! There are beings of light and there are beings of flesh that support us. So, let's all rejoice in the good news so that more wiring and firing can evolve us into our new humanity.
Trish~~
Dear Keith,

Believe me, you will know beyond the shadow of doubt. To come face to face with Eternity or the Almighty is totally convincing. Radically different from any experience you can have in the world. It trumps everything in your life. ~Kurt~
Who am I? I am a ghost...a real big one, ok, big doesn't really count. Let's just say that I'm the only one.
Great post Avtar! Jesus also said he was that Light, as well as us being that Light too :-)
Love, Char
Hello, Kurt, nice to meet you!
Another answer I've heard as to when we finally "know"(Ha!):)
When we no longer have a need to beg the question.
And I've been around long enough to be divinely recognized.
No labels, no levels, just this and that...and That's All. Cheers!
Dear Avtar,
If I just am, there are no conditions
If I just am, there are no decisions
If you just am
Everything is as it is
If I just am, I just am the bliss
If I start to ask how
I am not in the now
If I start to ask why
Then the Ego becomes the I
Happy Easter :)
Thanks for the conversations!

There ain't nothing you can give me
I'm already there
I got love
I got love love
I got love love love
You don't need all these spinning-calling illusions
You don't need
But who are you
Who are you to know what you need
Who are you
Cause you don't need all these things
But nobody will tell you...
