My Intent is to connect with others by sharing and listening to each others stories.
Mallika Chopra

Dear Friends,
Soon, I will share more info on the new company.
You can go to Intent.com to be on our list to hear more, as well.
In the interim, we would love to hear your Intents!

Mallika

My intent is to smile for the rest of this day, and I wish you well in your new venture.

Dear Deepak,

Sounds like we share the same intentions, I have had them since I was about 7 years old and my intentions certainly have evolved, I started out intending to destroy all the evil people. I told God at the time use me to bring Peace, which may have set off on some difficult educational process. I eventually came to understand that destroying the evil people was the problem. It was the fictions in our minds that needed to be destroyed. Since we are born pure and innocent into a world of fiction one that was passed on from generation to generation. To reject or destroy is not in alignment with divine intention but rather to embrace and transform. The first being the easy route with long term detriment, the second being that hard route with long term benefit.

I think the probability is that the new beginning will happen in the next few years due to the exponential acceleration of the evolutionary process and breakthroughs in understanding just around the corner. Yet with so many minds having a role nothing is for certain.

I also think, and it is written in the Infinite Play, that if we align with divine intention we can simply follow the impulses that arise, while looking at the signs, cues, clues, messages, connections, correlations, and synchronicity, while going with the flow and asking the right questions.

Everything happens perfectly in a manner conducive to our evolution; our choice is whether our journey is one dominated by a smooth or bumpy ride.

The ego is good for one thing, adding a little drama to the play, and the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is that perspective that allows us to see it all for what it is, a divine comedy.

A minute ago, my intention was on hearing Deepak's video, even tho I did not have my headsets at work. So I had to crawl under my desk with the volume all the way up to hear, while hoping that no one would see me on my hands and knees in a dress suit!

My second intention is to find a new boss/company/job that matches my goals and desires.

My third intention is to find a new place to live that better suits my life style.

My fourth intention is to be LOVE, since that is what my Higher Self keeps telling me, if I listen, which I haven't much, as I've got to start taking care of the little me first! Then next, the bigger Me as second! Because LOVE is a work in progress :-) and never ending.....

So that's all for now folks!

Love, Char

Here come a cross-road for me

My next intent is to be a human black-hole-door

I want to thanks from the bottom of my heart all of you, for your words and superb inspirations

My intent is to teach and talk about spirituality, and find different avenues to express it. I want to help people on their path, encourage them, direct them, and help them see through the false, so they don’t settle for second best. ~Kurt~

Well said, Skeptisch.

Thank you, beautiful people, for sharing your intentions! It's easy to notice that we have a lot in common :) Best of luck (and lots of fun) with this fantastic project Mallika, it is clearly being orchestrated with elegance!

Char, that was so funny... I know you will find yourself another company where you can listen to whatever you need to listen without hiding under the table :D:D

Skeptisch- I'm glad to see you :)

The wisdom tradition known as Toltec makes an interesting distinction between "intention" and "Intent". Intention is the desire, wish, direction of the individual, while Intent is the evolutionary desire, wish, direction of the Universe itself.

So with that in mind, my intention is to stay fully aligned with my Intent, to be a catalyst for personal and social transformation, for the awakening of human consciousness to its own essence, for the manifestation of a just, abundant, joyful, empowered and fulfilled world for everyone.

And to have lots of fun in the meantime :)))

Dear Deepak, (dear Mallika,) I tingled to hear your manifesto.
Does this mean that IB will be finally side-lined? Does that mean that, here, we labour in vain?
I should wait and see, I know.
I should detach from the outcome. But why, oh why, do you seem to overlook that what IB falls short on so, too will Intent.com
Now there's a negative intent and I apologise for its stalling effect.

I shall E-go wait and see.

#10 Oh yes, Aurora, lots of fun! I guess you know that fun is the release of disparity tension between Intent and intention.
Old Skep is a bundle of fun which few would discern. In fact many would run, oozing adrenaline, for indeed 'skep' is a beehive as I jested many a moon ago. Now, bees have a way of reacting to the slightest whiff of adrenaline and come after it with stinging Intent...wake up call?
Hi Skep!

Ed, is the trunk of a tree sidelined by its branches? And are you labouring, sir? I know yesterday giggles were not laborsome...

Can it be so that the fault one sees in one place one will see in all places, unless...

Unless...one giggles and splutters an 'i LOVE u' ;)

btw, there is only one tree here....Uncle Tree, aka K.

It depends, that can be one of those "keeping away the bees" maneuvers :D
We're sitting and giggling in a forest, branches and all :))) I say... let them grow and wish them well.

Immediately, I agree...that's why I tingled!

I know you did (((Ed))). The rest.. is for the bees to take care of :)))

It's a peace of cake I'm holding. Derek gave me it, only yesterday!

Should I eat it before the wasps come out of hiberNation?

A Simple Intent.

"My intent is simple: First, I am going to bring your awareness to your breath ...then, I am going to take your breath away!"

My intentions are pure...but I have no intent in particular.

Deepak, you say the first step is to get ego out of the way. To me ego is the belief in a separation from God.

If God is all there is...what intent could I possibly have/be?

You are right to say that intent is within consciousness, beyond consciousness intent disolves into all.

I don't think we can have intent and be all at the same time. That is like serving two masters.

God is smiling, Vivian, dear.

Dear Dr. Chopra,

My Intent is to be a contributor to the movement towards a New Consciousness which will elevate us to a higher frequency and create a more harmonious global environment.

I firmly believe that those persons who are familiar with the teachings of the Vedic Culture are especially inspired and prepared to raise our level of Consciousness.

There was once a greatly advanced and ancient culture that was a global society. This was the Vedic civilization. Once there was a united and common brotherhood of Vedic culture around the world, with common standards, ideals, language, and representations of God.

The Vedic tradition of India is the parent of humanity and the original ancestor of all religions. We are all descendants of that global civilization.

One of the Vedic teachings is one which shows, by describing scientific experiments, how Consciousness interacts with but is separate from the body, and is the source of our will to do anything. In fact, it is a way of perceiving how the Soul is our real identity, different from the physical form in which we reside.

Best Wishes,

"Betsy" S.

As for now
With an intent to drink tea with
An old pal Ella,I drive into tea rose garden
Spread across the lands of Kashmir
Green carpet beneath, and under the blue umbrella
Our table was set in the lawns of Marriott
Beside a swimming pool
Hips well resting on cushioned chair in wait
Heave in haste to welcome Ella on her arrive
A huge hug clasped us two
Joy, love was pouring from our being
After a pause we stepped back
With spreading arms and eyes
In astonishment I screamed !
Oh God Ella, you have gone fat
Her comments on my skinny structure
And then my denying, we settled with a
Refreshing sigh
She gaze deep into my eyes
As if trying to read some written words
And looked at my face
we begin with current topic
Going in phases

Part2
Metaphysics and theology
Was her subject of choice
So she started extempore
Me silently listening
Universe and Black holes
Plucked my ears for further words
Imagination run in reel
Had vivid childhood memories
Of star trek series
For me!, me and Ella were now
Travelling in timeless zone
Where I intent a meditative humanity
With divine animals as they already are
And colourful kingdom
Of flora and foliage around
Rocks rivers and rainbows
With highly evolved beings
With no gender differences
And mother’s virgin
With no society to spring
Reiki goes for healing
Where all action be without action
Where life is hemmed in three
Joy happiness and celbration
Like heaven in brief
As described in myth
Kingdom of Indra!

Part 3
While we were dreaming
Don’t know
When sun took position
Perpendicular to lawn
She took out her sunglasses
To cover her eyes which were brown
Restricting my vision
But damn love and light
Were lurking behind the Gucchi glare
We order ice tea to sip
Me and Ella further communicate
Without moving our lip

Just back from a 14 day walking holiday, I got inspired again by the Labyrinth. I used it this time as a Brain Trainer.

I wrote an essay about the many possibilities of the labyrinth, which, one can truly say, is a universal symbol, that certainly has been known in the old Vedic Tradition.

Would like to invite all that are interested to have a look at this essay at this web address:

http://mieke-heartphone.blogspot.com

Love and Light, from the heartphone

By the way, I am still posting as a "comma" here on IB because this comma has been my inspiration in the past, here at this same IB, to design my own Logo, a mirrored comma that has become a Heart :)

Inspiration from the heart, which has always been and will always be my Intent :)

Mieke

And........ if you do some researching on the labyrinth in the old Vedic Tradition, where do you then come out, in the middle? Yes, of course:

http://www.enmag.org/04/4floating.htm

Jai Guru Deva :)

Mieke

Hi Mieke,

I thought that was all very good. I might add that it all works well if one's eyes are open, but if they attempt to walk it with eyes closed they would bump into the walls a lot.

Eyes open operating from truth

Eyes closed operating from fiction

In a Labyrinth one can choose to walk forward, backwards or stand still, all representative I think of evolution.

just some thoughts..

Hi Richard,

Thanks for your comments. I believe you are mixing the meaning of a labyrinth and a maze together.

Unfortunately this is a common mistake that has been made ever since there are mazes and labyrinths.

I agree you can walk mazes with your eyes open or closed, forward, backward or standing still.

A labyrinth however is a unicursal path and one deliberately and consciously makes one choice or one promise to oneself: to walk it straight to the centre before you go in, with your eyes open, being fully aware of every step you take, every move you make, every breathe you take :)

And one keeps this promise :)

This is for instance the objection my husband makes towards the labyrinth. He thinks it is a forced path.
In my view one is only consistent towards oneself.

I myself believe in the symbolic meaning of the Labyrinth, a one-way forward direction, and by doing so, one cannot ever get lost but always arrives in the middle. And the way back is the same, one-way forward towards the exit/entrance again. One has to "undergo" a labyrinth before one truly can have an opinion about it.

For me this symbolic way of walking, a walking meditation, has done wonders and opened the gateway to a wide variety of being creative.

It does not necessarily have to have that impact on others.

Just wanted to share this playful experience that has led me to one creative moment after the other since I discovered it in 2003.

Will be writing more essays on my experiences with the labyrinth on my blog.

Love, from the heartphone,

Mieke

Love from my labyrinth, dear Meike. The centre can do no other than find its way?

Hi Ed,

Right on :)

This is story is not for the weak of heart...

Warning: This is a heartbreaking story. Jayci Yaeger, a 10-year-old girl in Nebraska dying of brain cancer, has a final wish. She wants her dad, who is in federal prison in South Dakota, to be at her bedside.

His crime? He was addicted to methamphetamine and is finishing up a four-year-term. (Gotta love wasting tax-payer money on minimum mandatory drug sentences, eh?)

His only chance to get to his daughter is being granted clemency by George W. Bush, which I hate to say this, but I wouldn't count on it. It is hypocritical, too, considering he has a niece who had run-ins with the law[http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/noellebush1.html] for the same reason. Not surprisingly, this is eating up the father, Jason Yaeger. I can't imagine what that poor mother is feeling.

""Absolutely I regret it. That's why I've made a promise to both Jayci and Shelby -- I'll never leave them again. I'm never going to commit another crime again. Because it takes me from my children and that tears me up daily," he said.

Yaeger has also contacted Nebraska U.S. Rep. Jeff Fortenberry and filed an injunction with a south Dakota court seeking an immediate transfer to the Council Bluffs halfway house."

...it turns out that this story is even sadder. Her wish was granted. Jayci Yaeger died right after seeing her father. I just learned about it. Nonetheless, my heart breaks for this family...

"After the prison was flooded with letters from around the country prison officials decided to allow Jason Yaeger to travel to Nebraska. The father and daughter were together for about 30 minutes on Wednesday and while Jayci was not able to speak or move her breathing became heavier when Jason was by her bedside."

Good post Deepak!

To me, it seems you touched on several of the major themes from your 7 Spiritual Laws of Success book, which I think is one of the greatest books you have written in terms of providing tools for the everyday person to enhance their life.

Religionists and New Agers are welcome to post their wisdoms and insights on any science blog. Shouldn’t we extent the same courtesy to Brights, who want to share their evidence-based convictions with us here at IB?

In order to have an honest and meaningful discussion about, for instance, reality, shouldn’t Brights be able to comment without the fear and threat of their comment not making it passed the IB censors, the removal of the comment after posting, or worse, being banned as a commentator from IB altogether?

Why this unreasonable fear of reason?

Hello Skeptisch,

I have been a member of this blog almost from the beginning and as far as I am concerned most regular bloggers were not at all afraid from reason.

But reason is something different than rationalism.

Reason is thinking and discussing with ones full brain potential and rationalism is a Western way of thinking that has not accepted any other thinking for a long time.

In my humble view it is there where the bottleneck is and I suppose it is a stubborn prejudice that should be totally out of fashion these days.

I have walked an 800 years old labyrinth in a cathedral in France.

It was built in those early middle ages where there did not exist division between art, science or religion yet.

This cathedral truly is an encyclopaedia, written in stone and glass. The whole Universe is her subject, the sum of the total knowledge of the medieval spirit, not yet influenced by the splitting of the soul, mind and body, not yet estranged from Nature, Scientific method and Philosophical enlightenment.

In her representation of All That Is, all material is included. Nothing is excluded: Free art, astrology, the work of the Seasons, the tools of Alchemy, animals, plants and flowers, virtues and sins etc. etc. Everything is accepted and is a part of the whole.
Time and again we walk through the cycle of life, there is no beginning; there is no end.

In the early Middle Ages churches were used as a kind of Market place, where people gathered, selling their products, exchanging the latest news, experiences, etc. etc. It is known that at Easter the Bishop would “dance” the labyrinth to announce that a new season cycle had started. It was a kind of reincarnation ceremony he performed, not only for the seasons in Nature, but also as a purifying ceremony for the people, so they could start afresh again too.

This was of course also related to Rome. In the Christian tradition there is a saying: “All roads lead to Rome”. For people who could not make this pilgrimage to Rome, the labyrinth was a symbolic way to do it. But it really meant: “All roads lead to One self”.

Being able to integrate it all in ones life is a real art. We are growing, but with growing pains.

Peace comes from being reasonable :)

With love, from the heartphone,

Mieke

Mieke, #37 was both very beautiful and interesting. It looks like you are truly inspired :)

Hi Aurora,

This visit to Chartres Cathedral really did have an impact on me. If you would like to read my experience there you can at:
http://mieke-heartphone.blogspot.com

The labyrinth has become a kind of "sacred space" to me since I was first introduced to it in 2003.

I have already written a few essays about it at the above-mentioned blog.

Give me a few minutes and I will post my experience in Chartres on it too for you and everyone who is interested to read :)

Thans for your nice comment :)

Love, from the heartphone,

Mieke

Hey Skep,

I'm with you on that.

I'm a regular browser over at the Science Blogs too.
scienceblogs.com

Sure they have Dawk and PZ Myers over there, and they love to pick apart Deepak when he starts talking out of his area of expertise. Then there's a whole lot of other scientist and grad students and undergrads that blog there that may or may not be athiests, but haven't taken up the soapbox about it.

There's a lot of links to really good info over there, and really, the scientist/athiests and the new consciousness crowd have many overlapping values: a moral conscience, a recognition that we have to act now to offset human caused climate change, compassion for all living beings, and an overall center-to-left political view that acknowledges the failures of the Bush Administration.

Arguing whether or not there's a God is not the only game in town, and whether or not someone believes in God is not an indicator of whether they are a good person or not.

Whether God exists or not, I believe that the pursuit of good science is an essential element for further evolution of Homo Sapiens.

The belief that everything has a reasonable explanation, and that that explanation can be understood by a human is, in my book, an good belief to have, because it prods us find out as much as we can about our existence.

Einstein said he wants to know the thoughts of God, and he believed those thoughts were expressed in the laws of physics.

Following that line of thought leads to the conclusion that God must structure his thoughts (and therefore the existence) logically.

From that viewpoint believing in irrationality and magic sells God short.

The more spiritual person will believe in the beauty of God's logic, and respond to God's challenge to understand it.

That would be science.

yogi-one...greetings, I am intrigued by what you write.

Is it not too limiting to suppose that God has 'thoughts' which somehow conform to logical structure as we understand it from an earth based perspective?

The classic scientist's attachment to rationality at the expense of magical spirit leaves no space for a completely integrated understanding of the universe.

From this viewpoint, not believing in irrationality and magic sells science short :)

“The belief that everything has a reasonable explanation, and that that explanation can be understood by a human is, in my book, an good belief to have, because it prods us find out as much as we can about our existence”.

Well said, Yogi, and so is this:

“The more spiritual person will believe in the beauty of God's logic, and respond to God's challenge to understand it. That would be science”

Science, while not "truth" with a capital-T, is the closest approximation to it. We should never pretend to know but seek to know with the only method we have, the scientific method. Ignorance should not be replaced with any kind of religion or superstition, but with knowledge based on evidence.

Mieke, Aurora and some here are not aware ...like say yogi-one, about science, philosophy and spirituality. That's why their ignorance shows sometimes in the guise of self-righteous of their sense of wisdom and awareness, and in their intolerance to other world views.

Science will never be able to answer questions about existence, for instance. Such things fall into the realm of philosophy. Whatever be the philosophy; scientific materialism, vednata, positivism, existentialism, etc SHOULD be consistent with evidence from science. Therefore pseudosciences like Astrology, beliefs in superstitions, parapsychology like telepathy, telekinesis etc, I say, are not consistent with a spiritual world view. One should not confuse "mysticism" with "irrationality" or for that matter see science and rationality as "against" philosophy/spirituality.

Wonderfully said, Venessa! There is not a word wrong in the second paragraph of your post.

The reason there are three basic disciplines of knowledge i.e., science, philosophy and mysticism - science, in which we put things 'in front of' us and examine them, philosophy, in which we examine the things in our 'heads' only, and lastly, mysticism, in which we have a direct experince of things, that is, in which we have a direct experience of what ultimately constitutes the things is that the universal scheme of things comprises three realms of reference i.e., actual, virtual and spiritual and each one of them is represented as well as explored by one system of knolwedge, i.e., actual by science, virtual, by philosophy and spiritual, by mysticism respectively.

Until we give due place to the understanding of all three of them and in addition make them consistent with each other we cannot hope to understand the scheme of things of the universe fully.

It is a cycle:

religion > philosophy > science

then

science > philosophy >religion

or even

religion > philosophy of religion + philosophy of science > science

then

science > philosophy of science + philosophy of religion > religion

In the first indeed where religion ends philosohpy begins and where philosophy ends science begins

but in the second, where science ends philosophy begins and where philosophy ends religion, spirituality or mysticism begins.

Did you just blow the whistle for half-time, Harb?
Roll on full-time. The match sucks! ;)

Sorry, Harb, was referring to #47

Ed, let some bowings and clappings at half-century (your post, 50) then we will move on to a century lol.

#48

Forgot to add, now we are in the second part and moving towards relion/spirituality/mysitcism.

Mieke, thanks, I will check that out. You wrote about the Chartres Cathedral before with the same inspiration, and that put it on my "to visit" list.

Skeptisch, agree, disagree... I was simply glad to see you, that's all :)

Hi Adam,

I hear you. I consider myself a mystic after all is said and done, and despite my respect for science, I have never been convinced finally that there is no possibility of God.

Although it would seem counter-intuitive, I have noticed that it seems to be the great scientists who have a highly evolved sense of wonder (ok they don't usually call it mystery) and amazement at existence.

Einstein, Sagan, and so on are people that were just filled with a sense of reverence and awe for the Universe. This is a far cry from the dry, lonely, soulless scientists that the creationists would have us picture.

Even here, on IB, the most prolific and profound investigators into the nature of consciousness are exactly the same people that have the advanced science degrees, Deepak not the least among them.

I have made this point many times here. I think the dichotomy itself is false. There's no reason a scientist can be a lively, wonder-filled person.

I bet most of them are.

"This is a far cry from the dry, lonely, soulless scientists that the creationists would have us picture."

"There's no reason a scientist can be a lively, wonder-filled person."

Very few people talk about mathematicians. Many believe their work is dry and unimportant as long as it has some relevance to the physical world we live in. Playing with numbers -- investigating infinity -- is just as (if not more) relevant than playing with the forces of the universe.

Rarely we see people who are both a great mathematican and physcist. Einstein and Newton for all their genius, like most physicists, needed much (original) help on the math front from their colleagues.

One contemporary exception is Roger Penrose, the renowned Oxford mathematician and theoretical physicist is an idealist who talks about Truth, Beauty and Goodness (Satyam Shivam Sundaram) in his book: The Road to Reality: A Complete Guide to the Laws of the Universe, 2004.

His work into artificial intelligence and human consciousness and quantum gravity are well know.

His other books include:

The Emperor's New Mind: Concerning Computers, Minds, and The Laws of Physics, 1989

Roger Penrose, Shadows of the Mind: A Search for the Missing Science of Consciousness, 1994

Stephen Hawking and Roger Penrose, The Nature of Space and Time, 1996

What about "knowing" Infinity...

The Man Who Knew Infinity: A Life of the Genius Ramanujan is the biography of the Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan written in 1991 by Robert Kanigel.

I would say Kurt Godel the greatest logician the world has seen(famous for his Incompleteness theorem), and a philosopher who is a close friend of Albert Einstein at Princeton and also a fellow German, is miles ahead of Einstein...

"Albert Einstein and Gödel had a legendary friendship, shared in the walks they took together to and from the Institute for Advanced Study. The nature of their conversations was a mystery to the other Institute members.

Economist Oskar Morgenstern recounts that toward the end of his life Einstein confided that his "own work no longer meant much, that he came to the Institute merely…to have the privilege of walking home with Gödel".

Godel is a logician(rationalist) and acclaimed as a mystic -- no contradiction there!

#58 GoodAye, Vaness,
I am a-walking Home with Godot, which is fine. Trouble is, He keeps me hanging about with all the drama here, not to mention, Samuel Buckett.

My Intent--is to keep creating digital art; like the one I just created tonight for a great cause!!

Many hours ago, I"d visited a celebrity blog, met a guy named Brandon, who's docu-video was on the celebs site to the plight of the black man in Chicago! I asked him if he'd like me to create a poster. He sent me a few images to use that he'd created. I put the images together, to get the finished results.

http://xs226.xs.to/xs226/08182/4brandon.north818.jpg

There are 4 other variations in a new album on my myspace called: "For Brandon/Mr.Personality From: North"

Enjoy! THIS is my PASSION-INTENT to do! : )
To: Create something from nothing...

Love,
North

Hi North,

Most intrigueing picture.

In a topsy-turvy (used by Harb in his Self Designed Universe :)) way, this picture reminds me of the Pietà of Michel Angelo.

Talking about passion......

Love, Mieke

Hey Skep,

Heard about a new book out that's titled, "The Devil's Delusion"?

Looks like Dawkins will have a another wall to bounce his head against.

Hi Mieke,

Thankyou. When Brandon sent me the 3 images used; I wasn't going to start until today at least! But, I was up until almost 4am working on the 5 variations. It is almost noon, and I've only 15 minutes ago..woke up! lol

I hope he likes them, and that this is what he wanted??

Love,
North

Well North, inspiration caught you and you must have certainly been in flow :)

Don't do this too often though at night, your whole biological clock might be disturbed.

Only kidding, you made a master piece in my view.
I may have the exact poem to match it with, for our next inspired book :)

Love,
Mieke

Hi Mieke.. sounds awesome!! I will ask Brandon if we can use it : ) He messaged me to my myspace, and absolutely loved them all; but prefered the greyscale one and the golden sepia version. Me, I liked them all, including the colour; of which is now as my desktop wallpaper(on stretch not centered to fit the screen). looks real nice!

I am pleased, that despite the blackness of my monitor(on the outs) that I could even create anything remotely well, which revives my hope that I can keep on creating digital imagery! : ) This monitor can go anytime; so if I drop out of site; it is because i have no monitor. If this should happen, I will snail-mail you a letter to let you know.

Love from the heartphone,
North

Mieke--great news!! I have contacted Brandon; and asked permission for you to use the image for your poem and his response was: "of course, pictures like yours should be seen all over the world!!" Nice, huh? So, I"ve emailed you all 5 versions just now.. I am surprised it even turned out, as this monitor is so dark-screened!

Love,
North

Hi North,

That is really great for you! I've seen the pictures and indeed the grey one is very expressive too! But they all are perfect in their own way and colours, despite the monitor!

Will send you the text of the poem to go with it.

You are brilliant, no matter what handicap is in front of you :)

Love, from the heartphone,

Mieke

That's great Mieke--the poem is awesome to go with the design!! You have a good "eye."

Love,
North
