An article in the Washington Post by Deepak Chopra in response to their question:
The percentage of voters who find Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama "honest and trustworthy" is declining as the campaign wears on. Why? From a moral standpoint, how important is this quality in a president?

The Prophecies of Nostradamus
Century X
72
The year 1999, seventh month,
From the sky will come a great King of Terror:
To bring back to life the great King of the Mongols,
Before and after Mars to reign by good luck.
Deepak,
Thank you for your ongoing stream of consciousness that punctures
Beams of light laser through ego walls and like Jericho they come tumbling down.
Thanks for all that you do to raise the consciousness of humankind.
Trish~~
THE WORLD OF FICTION IS COMING TO AN END.
Embrace your truth before it is embraced for you
Lying is to support a fiction.
The wise (conservative) and those that value freedom (liberal), and those that value both, (party free independents for collective control), do not vote for the President that has their mind clouded with fictions, the consciousness of old.
The constituency would not want a leader that would support the fictions in their minds, the minds of others, or a fictional framework, the candidate being blinded to external by their own internal fictions. For it is a great leader, that leads by extinguishing the fictions in the minds of those that would look to one to lead.
Who has not cast fictions? Who does not support the fictions from which only a few benefit to the detriment of the many? Who can cast out the fictions that divide us?
What you say may be the truth, from some perspective, and false from another, depending on the mind, so the question is are you being honest? If you were me and I were you, knowing what you know, what would you as me want to know? To impart that knowledge to another is being honest.
Obama has a certain innocence about him, a light, and that is why people like him, and that is what this country needs a light to cast out the darkness of ignorance.
The United States does not need a president that can save only the United States. The people need a president that can save the world, by facilitating the actualization of the collective intent of the people, transcending borders.
A great wisdom being that a nation must first be a success before it can help other nations to succeed, even if only by example. This is complimented by the wisdom, that in helping other nations to succeed, we guarantee the continued success of our own nation.
Paramount to the success of the collective is the preservation of the liberties of the individual, the freedom of expression and the pursuit of happiness with no fear of persecution. For it is the pioneer, radical, outcast, eccentric, rebel, non-conformist, and those that question the status quo that are essential to the evolution of mankind, the collective, being they are the impetus for change, discovery, and invention needed to adapt and evolve.
"Half-truths are the bread and butter of politics." Deepak
I think the first sentance could very well have been the complete answer to the question posed by the Washington Post.
As Richard says "Obama has a certain innocence about him, a light, and that is why people like him,....."
If, as the future President, people still feel the same way about him, 2 or 3 years down the road, he will be amongst the greatest.

Its true for all politicians.
Even for them, Hillary Clinton is in a class of her own.

Check out the favorable/unfavorable ratings of our two candidates in Gallup's polling this year:
Obama - Clinton
1/10-13: 59/32 - 50/46
1/30-2/2: 59/32 - 48/48
2/8-10: 58/34 - 48/49
2/21-24: 61/32 - 48/48
3/14-16: 62/33 - 53/44
4/18-20: 60/34 - 53/44
5/1-3: 58/37 - 52/45
Pretty consistent.
I just loved this article! Dear Deepak, you were born to do this :))))
And when you go and tell it as it is like that, even if I'm not American I still go "ouch" :D:D And then a big smile happens when I observe that we are living in exceptional times, when the craving for truth in us is becoming stronger than any other craving...
Hello Deepak and Everyone,
Politicians and lying? hmmmmm. I think it goes hand in hand, for the most part. A politician will tell the truth, the whole truth when they can afford to, only. But, if telling the whole truth will cost them, significantly, their political investement will demand some lying....just ask Barak Obama about his recent "so-called very public break" from his mentor of 20 years, Rev. Wright. In, reality, what Rev. Wright spoke about, and the way he spoke about it was something no different than what he has been saying and sermoning about in his Church and in his private life for years, Rev. Wright is no different but Barak Obama's desire for the Presidential nomination IS different from "just" his being "one" of the Sunday fellow Church members flocking to hear their beloved Minister. Barak Obama had to save his Presidential nomination by denouncing the spiritual guide and mentor he had until that moment endorsed wholeheartedly. So, it looks like Barak Obama knows full well when it is important to invest in the lie, and, when, as a serious politican, you can afford to tell a truth or two.
Politics and lying....go hand in hand for better or for worse...it is a marriage made in board rooms, corporations, government agencies, etc., and it is a serious as cancer, it can hike gas prices, food prices, start wars, listen in on your phone conversations, check your bank records, give visas to those who will take high tech jobs cheaply while exporting manufacturing jobs for profit while avoiding safety regulations and it's taxes, etc.
If you want to believe that lying is a thing of the past with a Barak Obama win, so be it... A belief, whether religious or political is still just a belief...the truth is a far different matter all together...
have a grand day all, ruth

Dear Dr. Chopra,
It would appear that the need for a two party political system is fast waning. Members of the same party disagree with one another just as much as they do with members of the opposing party on actions to be taken to supposedly improve the state of the country. It is high time that everyone joins together in order to save what might be left of any order of government. I believe that most people are very weary of listening to all of the ridiculous rhetoric aimed towards attacks on the competition. There are a vast majority who do not believe any of the campaign promises tendered.
I believe that the public is sick of all the false promises and of the "pork barrel" spending by those in power who are motivated mainly by self-interest.
There are too many serious problems of the day which are severely affecting everyone's quality of life. There does not seem to be any accountability by anyone as to how these conditions have been allowed to manifest.
There is always plenty of talk by those in charge of government policies. This never helps. It is time for some dramatic change and for better co-operation amongst the governing members.
