Gotham, did your pa go on hyades and leave you in charge? or what? whats the story? here's a must read just for you..

Nate at FiveThirtyEight.com writes:

How you'll know that Hillary's speech was a winner:

If the principal Republican talking point tomorrow is: "the speech was too good! It just proves that she should have been the [Presidential/Vice Presidential] nominee!"

******

Well, I don't know about Repubs, but some Clinton deadenders here, who haven't yet moved on, are sounding just like that.

Yeah EIGHTEEN MILLION IGNORED VOTERS! get over it you say. It says a lot more than you are will to admit. You want change? Gimme a person that will listen to what we want. That change!

Tammy, are you living under the stone or what, as if you just woke up and jumped into the debate about Hillary as VP? Joe Biden is the best fit for Obama, and best choice for governance, and is the best choice to win more votes (of over 120 million likely voters, which includes those 18 million) and win the election.

Most of those 18 million people have moved on and are firmly behind Obama. They and their issues are are not ignored. Hillary puts her country first, and so does Obama, but some deadenders want to keep her first, and their ego that cannot handle the reality, over the country.

"quite possibly the Clintons will come through for Obama, galvanizing the democratic base in a way that only they really can to rally behind Obama"
GC

Lets wait and see shall we.. I can eat my words.. can you? I have Zero attachment to any of this. Hell I don't think I have ever even voted for that matter. I just love seein ya get all bent out of shape for a dude that clearly dosen't give a damn about anything but his own ego. Same go's for all the of them really.
Your a fool if you believe any different about this one dude, change? haha thats funny, but then again I would so LOVE to be wrong. So lets hope your right FryJy, but my money is on YOU! and the rest of the folks that don't really have a voice of there own. yup

Tammy dear,

Rest well, dream good, take your pills - if any - on time, and take care.

Bets wishes for you and your's.

Tammy, you are right.

Perhaps Joe Biden is the best VP for Obama?

After all he missed a father figure in his youth.

Hillary said "We are on the same team, and none of us can sit on the sidelines. This is a fight for the future. And it's a fight we must win together"

She is talking to every person on this planet, she is talking about the fight with our own egos. How inspiring to see that she has won the fight so graceously.

It wasn't really a fight, she simply allowed her true nature to shine brightly. We don't actually need all that rethoric and cheering and fighting. We just need to be honest with ourselves, go deep enough to recognize that unity is much more important to us than our self image.

The final step of this unifying process is to see the Mc Cain people in the same way. And then the French, the Russians, Afghanistan, Irak, everyone. When the truth starts spreading, it spreads fast.

Ha, you don't need to be a president to make THE difference.
Consciousness, so-called, is much more subtle than that. It's you and I and a pure potential.

The air is thick with it... or sick with it.

Speaking of change,

Change is inevitable, except from vending machines.

she said last nite that she's proud mother, a proud Democrat, a proud this and a pround that, but she neva said that she's a proud wife...hmmnn ...ok then! did u hear that billy? damn!

Ms. Borealis writes:

"The final step of this unifying process is to see the Mc Cain people in the same way. And then..."(#9)

Mark Warner's keynote address last night was about that...obviously foreshadowed by all the Clinton drama:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/08/26/mark-warner-democratic-co_n_121582.html

"I know we're at the Democratic convention, but if an idea works, it really doesn't matter if it has an R or a D next to it," said the moderate Democrat. "Because this election isn't about liberal versus conservative. It's not about left versus right. It's about the future versus the past."

Transcript of the speech:

http://www.demconwatchblog.com/2008/08/mark-warner-keynote-transcript.html

Warner is a future presidential material for the democratic party...

(Mark Warner is the former Gov. of Virginia, who left office with over 70% approval rating in a solidly Red State. Under him, working with a republican majority, Virginia became the best governed state in the US. He is running for Senate seat this year, and is very highly favored to win. The dems have a good chance of winning Virgina this year in the presidential elections; the state had voted republican every election since the Lyndon Johnson landslide in 1964, after the death of JFK.)

Oh Yeah, totally awesome, dude!!

Wonder if Obama has a little bit of buyers remorse on Biden?

According to Gallup this morning...John McCain has now gone up 2 points over little boy blue! Hmmmmm....during the Dem convention, the Republican gains in the polls....Wow!! Da 'merican people must like what they see! Bunch of clowns on parade!

Hehehehehe...this is gonna be funny! I'm starting to eat my words of a few days ago...I now think, the old man might just put a whuppin on this little upstart pup!

So....according to Richard Thomas...y'all had better start buying property in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Ky, or you gonna die!

y'all have a wunnerful day!

Dear Gotham

What if she'd read your previous blog and had gotten lost?

:D

Now why did you make this post? Is it an apology in the form of acknowledgment and praise?

Onward, to Kick-Ass Thursday!

love, h

Oh, I can't resist this -- is "CORRECTION: Listen to her." a reminder to yourself?

In the context of just this post Gotham is saying she is awesome and then he is saying
"correction" which means the opposite of awesome.

If this post includes the last post then it could imply a correction to that but it is not clear from the authors writing what was being communicated leaving it to be user mind defined.

Yet when we disparage anyone we are disparaging our self. It is better to focus on the actual concepts, strategy, plan, and platform rather than the person. However we do also look at the capabilities of the person, and there ability to perform. A very smart, knowledgeable and acute president is less likely to be duped or misguided by those special interests around him. We need a President regardless of party that can see through the Illusions that others (source disconnected ego) create.

A president can tend to be a public relations man or a leader. This depends on the level of intelligence, the ability to think and know for one’s self and not be dependant on others thinking for you.

The battle between conservative and liberal is an illusion it is simply another divisive tool. It allows for an eternal blame game sheltering the real culprits from exposure and our attention.

With so much attention placed on the President the congress escapes discernment.

Congress actually wields the most power; they are supposed to be representing you yet they often represent the interests of a few rather than the many.

The president is supposed to be leading (ideas, insight) and presiding think project coordinator and facilitator.

She was totally awesome - glad, Gotham, you admitted it!

Her question about supporting her vs supporting the critical issues will hopefully sway those folks who are still holding onto her. I thought, while listening to her, about how much better off Al Gore is today (even though we are not), and know she will accomplish even greater things.

IB friends - we would love to see you www.intent.com, as well. The beta site is improving daily. And for our political junkies, one of our staff is actually at the convention blogging. Check out Olivia Kuhn-Lloyds blogs.

It's hard to pick out the best quotes from Hillary's speech tonight because the whole damn thing was so good.

"I haven't spent the past 35 years in the trenches advocating for children, campaigning for universal health care, helping parents balance work and family, and fighting for women's rights at home and around the world . . . to see another Republican in the White House squander the promise of our country and the hopes of our people.

And you haven't worked so hard over the last 18 months, or endured the last eight years, to suffer through more failed leadership.

No way. No how. No McCain."

Hillary asks the all important question:

"I want you to ask yourselves: Were you in this campaign just for me? Or were you in it for that young Marine and others like him? Were you in it for that mom struggling with cancer while raising her kids? Were you in it for that boy and his mom surviving on the minimum wage? Were you in it for all the people in this country who feel invisible?"

Hillary, kicks McCain's ass:

"It makes a lot of sense that next week John McCain and George Bush will be together in the Twin Cities, because these days they're awfully hard to tell apart."

...

"I'm here tonight as a proud mother, as a proud Democrat, as a proud Senator from the state of New York, as a proud American, and as a proud supporter of Barack Obama. "

Last night speaker list was full of great men and women.

My pick is Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer. He was simply brilliant. His speech brought instant smiles to the face of Bill Clinton.

"We simply can't drill our way to energy independence, even if you drilled in all of John McCain's backyards, including the ones he can't even remember."

"the petro dictators will never own American wind and sunshine."

And Mark Warner:

"This election isn't about liberal versus conservative. It's not about left versus right. It's about the future versus the past. [...]

In four months, we'll have an administration that actually believes in science."

And the money quote from Sen. Bob Casey:

"John McCain calls himself a maverick, but he votes with George Bush more than 90% of the time...that's not a maverick, that's a sidekick."

And Gov. Kathleen Sebelius:

"“I’m sure you remember a girl from Kansas who said there’s no place like home,” says Gov. Kathleen Sebelius. “Well, in John McCain’s version, there’s no place like home. And a home. And home. And home."

Classic from Gov. Janet Napolitano:

"Barry Goldwater ran for president, and he lost. Mo Udall ran for president, and he lost. Bruce Babbit ran for president, and he lost. For this next election, that's one Arizona political tradition I'd like to see continue."

Gov. David Paterson on McCain:

"If he's the answer, then the question must be ridiculous."

Gov. Ted Strickland:

"George Bush started on third base, and then he stole second."

If you missed the speeches catch them at:
http://www.demconwatchblog.com/

More Mark Warner:

"Jefferson got it right at the dawn of the 19th century, and it's our challenge to get it right at the dawn of the 21st. This race is all about the future. That's why we must elect Barack Obama as our next President. Because the race for the future will be won when old partisanship gives way to new ideas. When we put solutions over stalemates, and when hope replaces fear."

(Via HuffPo)Barack Obama gave the Wall Street Journal a little preview of his Thursday night speech:

"Barack Obama said he plans to focus on the struggles of middle-class Americans, including their tax burden, in his Thursday night speech accepting the Democratic nomination for president.

"The single most important thing I have to make clear is the choice we have in November between the same failed policy of the last eight years for the middle class and the new agenda to boost income for Americans and help families who are struggling," he said in a brief interview with The Wall Street Journal Tuesday. "I will make that contrast very clearly.""

How ever you may feel about Hillary not being president or VP, will have to be put aside.
Our next president will be either Obama or McCain.
Unless we can completely redo the whole governmental system in a couple of month's.

I got a very clear message from Hillary that she is apart of a team. She will have more power to work for us because it's not about her, it's about a team. There is no, one, saviour. We all should take Hillary's lead and work as a team. Not just the right and left, democrats and republicans within our country but also our global community.

If we don't vote for Obama then it's a vote for McCain.
We will only have the two to chose from.

It seems very clear that Hillary will be supporting Obama.

derek

So we have the president leading and congress representing. But how can congress represent you if they do not measure your voice? Polls can be pseudo science, a database where everyone can register their intent, based on the results of a Socratic dialog where the questions are properly articulated, and the issue has been subjected to the discerning of collective intelligence and wisdom, and all perspectives have been taken into account, all available knowledge and insight has been presented for all to absorb. This is self government, real democracy, and self rule by the people for the people. This leads to a balanced integrated policy and legislation created by the people working in unity. Not everyone will get exactly what they want but they will get exactly what they need.

This is self rule not imposed rule.

This is rule by the many, not the rule of the many by a few.

Which is only possible if the many do not fully participate which the current structures do allow everyone to participate. Of course the systems could be tweaked to better facilitate the participation.

Last night's best speech may not have been HRC's, but Brian Schweitzer's rousing call to action over the issue of energy and the slamming of John McCain. But almost no one covered the speech except for PBS and C-SPAN. That, in a nutshell, captures the truly mind-numbing horrible-ness of the press coverage of this convention. And the Boston Globe noticed too:

http://www.boston.com/news/politics/2008/articles/2008/08/27/thats_a_negative/

------------>
"THE BEST way to watch a political convention is on C-Span. That way Americans can make their own judgments unfiltered, without being told what to think by the nattering nabobs of TV commentary."
----------->

Indeed. These "nattering nabobs" only cover the speeches that they see as "marqueee" or which fit into their "narratives," doing an enormous disservice to the American people.

Case-in-point, the mildly delivered, but substantively important speech of Iowa GOP Congressman Jim Leach:

----------------------->
"Had the commentators not been so busy filling airspace and paid closer attention to what was happening on the podium, they might have had a different take. On Monday a speech by former Representative Jim Leach, an Iowa Republican, ably set the framework for his own party's failings, besides delivering a bipartisan endorsement of Barack Obama. His address wasn't electrifying TV, but it was a more articulate critique of the Republicans - and from a former loyalist, too - than many Democrats have mustered.
---------------------->

Substance over flash. Clearly an anathema to the news teams covering these conventions like it's a soap opera and that the fricking future of the world doesn't depend on it.

And then there's that issue of the "narratives:"

------------------------------->
"The latest "narrative" making its way around the Democratic convention here is that the Obama campaign hasn't learned the lesson of John Kerry's 2004 convention, in which the nominee failed to directly attack President Bush. CNN commentator Soledad O'Brien even asked late Monday night whether Michelle Obama's introductory speech shouldn't have been tougher on the Republicans.

Of course, if the early days of the convention had presented a more negative tone, the talking heads would be complaining that the Democrats can only say what they are against, not what they are for.
------------------------------>

Absolutely right on every level. Even last night, when the gloves did finally start to come off with some real zingers, the talking heads kept on going on about the lack of "attack" from Obama. Now, you all know I've more than criticized the Obama camp on this issue before, but I was feeling pretty good last night...until I listened to the pundits.

I'll say this now:

Holy hell is the news media of this country god-smackingly, gut-wrenchingly, stomach-churningly, vomit-inducingly awful.

By shoe-horning the convention into pre-conceived narratives and focusing on the horse-race over the substance of the ACTUAL SPEECHES HAPPENING BEHIND THEM, the news media of this country has done Americans an enormous disservice.

I'm not sure if it's ever fallen as low as it has now.

The Conservative Liberal Game

It’s like Religion and Spirituality. Religion at it’s core without the dogma and fictions is spirituality. When spirituality is adorned with fictions it becomes a game of competition for power and control with winners and losers and unresolved conflict.

Which is like Politics and Government, politics at it’s core without the dogma and fictions is government, and in a Democracy it is self rule by the many not imposed rule by a few.

Government at it’s core being how various needs and wants are expressed and met or obtained how combined efforts are implemented and what joint ventures are formed and funded to achieve what individuals cannot achieve alone. Politics when infused with fiction becomes a game of competition between parties and people for power and control. with winners and losers

The solution to the unresolved conflict in both Religion and Politics is to dissolve the Illusions embrace the truth and discard the fictions.

Conservative at it’s core simply represents wisdom mostly gained from the past and understanding of the present.

Liberal at it’s core is freedom something every individual loves to have.

What happens is that conservative and liberal get cloaked with many fictions as a result of faulty intentions that are individual self serving. Not that the individual should not serve themselves, but it must be in balance with the collective self, the whole body.

A classic example: A liberal fiction might be, why not do away with wages and have everyone just work and do their job. If you need something from the store just go get it. Wisdom tells us knowing human nature that although ideal it will not work in the current reality. The current reality is that not everyone loves their jobs. Sure there are some that would do what they do out of passion, but not most. This is partly because the systems and infrastructure are of a primitive design. We have an artificial economy built on top of the genuine economy. So some people would simply stop going to work since they can get all they need from the store.

Would you eat if you never got hungry? Hunger provides an incentive to get food. So you see incentive is inherent in the natural systems. If you did not have hunger and therefore did not eat by the time you realized you had no mobility because you did not supply raw materials to the body it would be to late because many cells would already be dead.

A classic example: A conservative fiction might be, you the general population are mostly ignorant. Therefore you go to the place we designate, work 8 hours and follow our instructions supporting the systems and infrastructure we design for you. We will provide you food and shelter. Meanwhile we will live in mansions and luxury and waste, and determine the societal needs as we see fit, a sort of master servant relationship. Of course right away we can see this is a fiction, disparity aside, because what is used to determine the requirement that everyone in the economic system needs to work a 40 hour week to support the system? There is currently no means to assess the work requirements and the 40 hour work week it is not based on science. In fact because of design flaws we have people working 69 hour weeks and some people not working at all, an out of balance condition.

I think the biggest and first issues with the current system are greed, corruption and deception.

Greed not being the generation of an enormous amount of value for others in the economic system and therefore producing great genuine wealth, but greed being taking value from the system and other economic system participates that is greater than the value created, perhaps by the creation of artificial value or gimmick or a lucrative government contract. Resolving the greed and corruption requires transparency, controls and collective oversight and management and an informed without bias population and citizenry.

The truth never has a bias only fictions do.

Gotham has joined the sisters of the traveling pant suits, and a lovely orange it was.

To me, her speech was an endorsement, not an embrace of Barak. I think by the look of Michelle O's eyes, that she agreed.

Good luck fellow travelers.

Steve

A balanced government is a balance between wisdom and freedom, a balance between the individual and the collective. Supported by balanced systems and information, this is a government that supports the body as a whole and each of it's cells and organs.

A balanced individual is also a balance between wisdom and freedom, a balance between the left brain and the right brain. A balance between the feminine and the masculine, this is a whole individual.

When the citizens achieve balance within themselves they will manifest a balanced government.

There is no balance to be found between truth and fiction.

There is no balance to be found between reality and illusion.

```
As Hillary Clinton so graciously said,
it is about unity.
It is WE who should be unified.
It is We who will make the changes
and the differences.
When that happens, choice is reversed,
the politicians have to choose to follow
(regardless of who is elected)
or become irrelevant.
Love
B
There is no balance to be found between truth and fiction.
There is no balance to be found between reality and illusion.
What we see in politics is a lot of statements, statements often based on fiction or false presumption. In Infinite Play we are reminded the question is more powerful than a statement. A statement can be deflected but a question creates a vacuum in the mind to be filled by an answer because nature abhors a vacuum.
A statement can be true or false but a question is beyond duality it is neither true nor false. When we ask a question we search for an answer based on a truth. The truth is discerned with more questions. This is because illusion and fiction does not have a foundation and if we look for the detail and do not find it then we know it is a fiction or illusion. If we find the supporting detail, a foundation, then we know we have found the truth. So it can be said truth is not found through statements but rather with questions.
The planet, our systems, and our civilization are out of balance.
So the first questions to be asked are.
How do we achieve a balance between the individual and collective good?
How do we achieve a balance between freedom and wisdom based controls?
What systems and protocols will achieve and maintain a balance?
Which infrastructure and design achieves and maintains balance?
Therefore the most valuable president is the one that can ask the right questions and has the supporting staff and advisors to find the answers.
Amen Bonnie
The message to me from the convention is unity.
I think Hillary made that very clear.
I expect all the speakers this week will continue to promote unity and change.
I expect our new leaders to have confidence and humility.
viva the benign revolution
peace is coming from peace
It would appear that the Anthrax thing and the homicidal suicide of the indicated perpetrator if it was actually him and he was not simply a patsy was a domestic intelligence operation by a shadow government to put FEAR INTO THE MINDS of congress so they would vote to take away our liberty.
If I was congress I would be very upset.
Hi Steve,
I agree, she, in fact, did endorse Barak and I too was watching Michelle's eyes and I would agree, I think Michelle and Barak would have wanted an embrace but.....if the shoe was on the other foot and he had lost...I am sure he would have endorsed Hillary, not embraced her nomination, as well, it is nice when you can get behind your candidate with complete enthusiasm but in a race such as the one between Barak and Hillary...the emotions were strong as to who would better represent the Party.....but in the end....it's all about the issues. Democrats are democrats for a reason, we are not Democrats because of Hillary or Barak or Bill....just as repubs are repubs...
I will vote for Barak Obama in November even though I am not head over heels crazy about him. Barak Obama is not the first democratic presidential candidate that I have voted for even though I was not crazy about them and he won't be the last.
so let the race....continue...ruh
Incredibly wise and I had not really thought about the truth and asking questions in this way. Thanks! I will remember this one and use it to help me discern when I cannot seem to do so....all those illusions getting in the way. :-)
Love, Char
wow! i cannot believe the grace, the class granny has shown in p-31...damn!
listen flabsy...u beach 'beauty'...don't get too carried away by polls...when people go to the polling booth, they would think about their own future and pocket book, not who the nominee is...or his race..after all, the nominee still has one vote! we cannot afford four more years of the same disterous course our country is on...can we?....u hear me, big fella?
Dear Richard,
Thank you for your insightful apprisal of the operations of governmental powers. As you say, "The battle between conservative and liberal is an illusion; it is simply another divisive tool. It allows for AN ETERNAL BLAME GAME sheltering the real culprits from exposure and our attention."
The lack of effective action by Congress has escaped discernment by the people. The Congress is usually "out to lunch", gratis of their special interest group affiliates or on perennial vacation when they should instead be tending to the serious business of decision making.
Best Wishes,
"Betsy" S.
Dear Richard,
Just read your Posting No.26 on Balance.
Balance in government (wisdom and freedom) would be a supreme accomplishment.
The balanced individual, with the ability to function under the influence of both the left and right brain equally would be a masterpiece. I believe that the teachers of wisdom in the past encouraged and taught the type of psychological androgyny which enabled the manifestation of such a balance. They were aware of the importance of having a symbiotic relationship between the compassionate/intuitive/receptive qualities of the feminine and the powerful/decisive/leadership qualities of the masculine.
The balance between the feminine and the masculine polarities would not only be a whole individual but, a being capable of reigning over his planet in a just and admirable manner.
Best Wishes,
"Betsy" S.
P.S. I've been reading about the ancient mystery schools that were trying to accomplish the development of the balanced individual.
Char and Betsy, thank you for your feedback and additional insight and lucid perspective.
