India and Pakistan are celebrating their 61st Independecen day, but are the masses really free ?
India and Pakistan are celebrating their 61st Independence day among hope with 1.5 billion people that there will be change that will improve their lives. Pakistan is going through a metamorphosis with Democracy slowly trying to get a foot hold and the powers behind it plotting to dethrone the master who compromised in the first place. It is rumoured that Musharraf will step down in the coming weeks.
Relations between India and Pakistan are at a low that they have not seen in many years. Pakistan's ISI hand in the bombing of Indian embassy in Kabul and the recent incursions in Kashmir has lead to exchange of hot words and wanting to flex its muscle against an already weekend Pakistan.
US is determined to dismantle the ISI, that even the Pakistani leadership has come forward to suggest a need to bring change in ISI. There is desperation among the citizens in Pakistan. 61 years back there was hope, after Pakistan and India got its independence from British. India went on a industrial revolution and today is a robust, fast growing economic powerhouse that is also a existing proof that democracy and development can go hand in hand.
Pakistan in its last 61 years has been changing hands from democracy to dictators having spent more than half the time under the rule of dictators from the army, who eventually end up being killed by the next wannabe dictator. Despite its political instability and its growing challenge with Islamic fundamentalism that is haunting Pakistan, it has made some progress on human development and the economy has seen a steady GDP growth. The people of Pakistan continue to live in hope like in the past 61 years, a hope of a free, progressive , stable Pakistan.
India has been doing the right things, but has also been clouded by its own challenges. A country of billion people of over 600 ethnicity's speaking over 60 languages and 4000 dialects. Its diversity is sometimes its adversity too. The 80s was plagued with Sikh terrorism and the subsequent mishandling of the issues, storming of the golden temple and the failure by the government to protect its minorities will continue to plague India. in the 90s The demolition of Babri Masjid, and the recent Gujarat riots where thousands of Muslims were killed are black spots that show that democratic model has still holes and India and Indians of all background need to work harder for India to be a free society where minorities don't have to fear when the next riots will come.
India's burgeoning economy played a role in helping remove millions from poverty, but still there are 700 million people who live in poverty.
Both countries have challenges of its own, but its people have hope and during every Independence day people celebrate their past and live with hope for their future.
One way you can help make change in rural India is this

The world's governments are operating under an illusionary false authority.
Truth is the authority and those that make decisions based on fiction have no real authority.
False fiction based authority can be easily discerned because it requires brute force to enforce it, with fear being the dominant form of behavioral control.
Authority based on truth needs no enforcement it is naturally adhered to because of the benefits in doing so; with compassion being the dominant influencer of behavior.
In a truth based system there is no scarcity and crime, these only exist in fiction based systems.
"A country of billion people of over 600 ethnicity's speaking over 60 languages and 4000 dialects. Its diversity is sometimes its adversity too."
The examples of Sikh unrest and Hindu-Muslim riots are typical of any sizable religious or ethnic minorities in many countries world wide. Like say the Kurds in Turkey, minorities in France, or the South Ossetians in Georgia. But you don't support argument that the the unique diversity you describe (4000 dialects et al) in India is, sometimes, someways, its adversity too.
You point out the recent Gujjar (and Meena) unrest in Rajasthan, who are demanding government reservations, that had resulted in more deaths than the recent terrorist bomb blasts. You can point out the Maoist threat in NE, MP, AP, Bihar, Orissa etc whose are stronger in tribal and rural areas. You can point out the Christian conversions (and its backlash) among the most neglected in Indian society. You can talk about vote-bank politics. There are many ways, and better ways, in which you can support your statement.
First line of the second para (in #4) should read.. "You *can* point out the recent Gujjar (and Meena) unrest ..." (sorry for the typos in the rest of the comment)

There is a revolution happening right now. When my daughter was laying in the hospital, and we didn't know if she would live, someone suggested that I am I am, And I knew i could be that. And at the same time try for what you want while you take what you get. The meek are ready:) as the mammalians were. The days of the reptilians (corporations) are over. Miracles are natural. We live in a thought responsive universe, focus on your vision. You are loved beyond measure. love patty

Vijay, are you are caught in the Illusion? Of course the people are not free you are being controlled.
I would hope that all will participate in destroying a big illusion. I am constantly seeing references that maintain a perspective based on a falsity. Delusions maintained by a media and those that benefit from them.
“The government wants”
“Russia does that”
“The US did this”
“China has decided”
“Russia is angry”
“India determined”
“Pakistan agreed”
These are all false statements not based on reality but based on fiction. These labels cannot think or decide. Only individuals can. The only way we might make the statements is if every member of the country could have their voice measured. Previously this would not have been possible but now thanks to technology it is.
In fact all the countries on this planet are illusions. They only exist in the minds of men and not in reality.
It comes down to a few people making decisions for the people of these countries.
The illusion created is that the whole country is making this decision or taking this action and it is not. There is no mechanism in any Nation yet by which the whole country can make a decision.
Until every voice is heard and it’s intent measured the country (government) cannot be said to represent the people.
When was the last time your government representative asked you for your thoughts and what you would intend?
They are making decisions for you, decisions that might be warped by the fictions in their own mind.
This illusion obscures the fact and reality that a few individuals are making these decisions; for sure they are influenced by the many that grant these individuals and small groups the power to make them. The question to ponder is: are the decisions and actions of these individuals and small groups influenced by their own individual needs and wants? Are their own needs and wants in alignment with the collective intentions and interests?
If there is a conflict between the individuals and the many which interest is favored? That these individuals have finite minds perhaps impaired with fiction and limited knowledge should we be concerned as to the quality of their decisions? How can multiple discerning minds be brought into play to destroy any fictions and how can the wealth of a collective intelligence be used to overcome the limitations of a single finite mind?
The cost to bribe or influence a single individual is minimal, the cost to influence or bribe 10,000 is phenomenal putting them out of reach of those that would corrupt them.
"When history no longer repeats itself evolution has occurred"

“All the trial and tribulation in the world today is simply the natural impetus for evolution, a symptom of having not evolved. To make it go away we simply need to evolve.”

Sure if the representatives make bad decisions the people will not vote for them again, so the people have influence.
How many politicians have hidden their true intentions and told the people what they wanted to hear?
The question is how much damage can be done in two or four years?
