Good morning, everyone. Happy Wednesday!

Here's something for the 'why doesn't this surprise me?' file:

MAFIA DON IS APOCALYPTIC FUNDAMENTALIST

Italians ask FBI to help decode mafia Bible
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2006/sep/08/italy.johnhooper

"Italian detectives have turned to the FBI in an attempt to resolve the biggest outstanding mystery left by the arrest of the Sicilian mafia's "boss of bosses".

"Bernardo Provenzano was seized in April at a farm building near the fabled Cosa Nostra haunt of Corleone, after 43 years in hiding. With him were some 200 coded notes and five copies of the Bible, including one extensively annotated."

"Investigators are particularly intrigued by Provenzano's interest in the Book of Apocalypse, to the point of copying out entire verses."

Go figure?

A driver is stuck in a traffic jam on the motorway. Nothing is moving. Suddenly a man knocks on the window.

The driver rolls down his window and asks, 'What's going on?'

'Terrorists down the road have hijacked a coach containing the Prime Minister Gordon Brown and his top aids Alistair Darling, David Miliband and Jack Straw.

They're asking for a £10 million ransom.

Otherwise they're going to douse them with petrol and set them on fire.

We're going from car to car, taking up a collection.'

The driver asks, 'How much is everyone giving, on average?'

'Most people are giving about a gallon.'

Tut Tut Tut....

See it was Tony Blair they were burning before him and Margaret Thatcher before him...

It is the papers that slander peoples reputations that should be burned. I seriously do not trust the press nowadays. It seems that the less disaster and and drama there is in the world the more they go on a Witch hunt. A prime example is what happened and is continuing to happen with the Northern Rock. The British Media caused all of the damage to the rock. They were not in any more financial difficulty than any of the other banks due to the credit crunch and simply approached the bank of England to ask If we need the money is it there? The next thing the press crucify them by causing mass panic by the public withdrawing all of their savings.

The Newspapers did that... and they can do this kind of thing again because the majority of the General public are stupid enough to beieve everything they print.

A Government is judged on what it can achieve not by what the press serve up to us about the Government.

I personally think that Labours days are numbered here; ut I do not blame anybody in particular for that. I just think the time s fast approaching for a change.

Many happy returns of the day, North!

Edmund Blackadder,

Do you even have the vote?

That is the bigger question......

I voted once when I was eighteen and never again since then.

I don't think any of them deserve my vote, so I am not voting in protest!

I hope you're looking in North but wouldn't blame you if better things you have to do for the one and only you.

has anybody actually confirmed that North has been Banned from this Blog...

I remember a few years ago I thought I had been banned from here but it turned out to be otherwise... something very simple

I would be very surprised if she really was banned after all and there was proof of to the fact.

If anyone should be banned from here it should be me!

Happy Birthday Mrs North xx

Snakes

Don't you do it snake.
Don't you bite that boy.
Can't you see that's someone
you shouldn't oughta bite?

Snake didn't answer.
Snake was trying hard to figure
where toad ended and boy began.

Snake hesitated, snake came to a halt.
It listened and it waited.
It forgot about toad and boy.

Meanwhile, something black and wet moved inside a hollow tree. Green snakes, mean snakes, snakes with yellow stripes, king snakes, ring snakes, snakes of every sort. There were coral snakes, rat snakes, fat snakes, canebrake rattlers and rusty copperheads, snakes from out of state.
They rippled and they slithered, they hissed, and then curled around each other and kissed their eyes. After the fun was done, they crawled home to find a nap.

Hi Ruth,
The reason has been her comments on:
http://www.intentblog.com/archives/2008/05/time_article_on.html
which comments of her have been removed in the meantime.
I had a feeling about it all that it was not fair.
But then I have to ask myself: who am I? :)

http://www.intentblog.com/archives/2008/05/time_article_on.html

There still are a few comments of North in this thread that refer to what has been removed.

She mailed me that from that moment on she was banned and in the course of the past months she mailed me another few times that she still was not allowed to come here to comment.

I have made a few remarks about it in several threads that I cannot find back at this moment, that I was disappointed but never received any feedback.

Enfin, this is my story.

I have no contact with North either anymore due to a sad misunderstanding between us caused by someone else having been present on this IB also.

I guess this is all part of life to and a learning school for all parties concerned :)

Bonnie,
I had been reading the "Can the mystery of consciousness be solved?" thread, thinking really hard, trying to understand this universe... from each person's perspective, so varied but commonalities remain...if I could just find the one common thread in all these many perspectives, I will have the answer.

Then I read your post #38 above, and I stopped thinking, started smiling, and was right HERE.

Then I started thinking again and decided to thank you for helping me be HERE.

Love,

Hi Mieke,

I read that post and there is still; nothing on there that I can see that actually shows that she was banned by the Moderators.

My work is IT and I have written similar programes to this Blog in the past. It is not actually possible to "Ban" a person as such. The reason being is that the Internet is so dynamic, that you would have to Ban everybody in order to succesfully stop somebody posting on here.

The only methods available to Ban a person is the following.

First of all would be to block their Type key Authentication. In which case all you would need to do would be to register another Type key Account and you could post again.

Second Method would be an IP Ban, this would be a more effective ban but would still be only effective untill your DHCP IP address changed with your Internet provider.

Third Method would be a ISP Domain Name Ban - This type of ban is probably the most effective way to Ban somebody but it is also at high cost as it would mean everyone who used North's ISP would also be banned from the site. So this type of Ban is rarely implemented.

There are other ways to Ban people such as through MAC address (at the local level/ Internet level not possible without blocking out the ISP) and Using tracking Cookies, but again these can be worked around in two minutes. They are Ineffective really in placing a permenant ban on an individual.

Early on when the Internet was in its early stages in the public domain I used to administer an Internet Relay Chat network. For those of you who had any experience back in the days with the IRC Networks will know that being able to Ban people on there was essential as there was some pretty nasty people would attack those networks.

Thats why I believe that North is not actually banned at all.

I have Once or twice thought that the Blog Moderator had banned me from here; but It turned out to be something else.

Like I have demonstrated above; even if they did ban her - What would be the point? in theory nobody can be banned from here without banning everyone or a huge number of people belonging to the same ISP.

So she probably isn't banned - she just thinks she is.

Simon xx

You could be right, Simon. Quite often it's our own infernal machines that ban us. Same old same old 'projection.'

All I know is that even though I log in for two weeks at typekey, either cookies are not working properly on my errant machine or admin at any particular site can time overule this. Set this at 0 and one would effectively be banned. Also when you are new your post gets held for approval. This too could be a means to banning.
Each site must have a means of exclusion for their own protection. That said, IntentBlog should be resilient enough in basis not to need bans but that's my own belief coming into it. Okay, Simon....I know..........

The poor will always be with us, until the end of time. 2012?

Hi Ed,

In realistic terms speaking as an IT professional, they can't ban anybody from here. Its not actually possible to do it.

They can restrict people based on certain criteria. But permenantly banning someone is out of the window. Even to put a pretty extensive restriction such as an ISP Ban in place would be so much hassle that one person just would not warrant such action.

Like you said... the amount of times you log into here and get all kinds of moderation restrictions on your posts and the Type Key site not keeping you logged in etc, it is little wonder that someone may come on here the day after they have had some sort of altercation and assume they were banned based on some very simple mistake.

I remember once that for a whole day I couldn't get authenticated on Type Key, but I just tried a few days later and it authenticated no probs.

There are a million reasons why she isn't banned and none that i can see why she is still banned.

How many people do you know on here that it is amazing that they have not been banned for the use of abusive language and being constantly critical toward other people?

North was a million miles down the list of people who had a Ban coming on here.

It does not make sense that she would be banned, If she is then she must have done or said something really serious!

Simon xx

If they hold back the posts of Newbies for 24 hours, then I Suppose they could scan the Post to see if it is the person who was banned coming back on and telling people it is them and then disallow that post through.

That would be pretty effective but a lot of hassle for someone.

It is still not a permenant Ban though as North could be still posting here under a different name and they would not be able to tell as long as she did not reveal her identity.

The 24 Hour thing does not last very long and then she could reveal her identity.

Banning people is no Picnic, I know because as a Cisco Certified Professional I have had to write very complex access Lists in the past that really look at lots of criteria to weed out protocols and IP addresses that you want to keep out of your network. If the person you are trying to keep out is smart enough and wants in then it is virtually impossible to keep them out of public web site without banning everyone.

The only way to implement real security is to make access to the site private with complex password rules and have Security Tiers for access level authentication such as you find on your Banks website.

Even these are not 100% secure, nothing is in fact all security can be breached if somebody wants to be in bad enough and they are persistent and reasonably intelligent they will get into your system.

Simon xx

Hi Simon,

Thanks a lot for you extensive and clear explanation.

I am not an IT specialist and when someone like North tells me that she does not have access anymore to IB and all the related MySpace sites to it, I believe her.

Just as much as I believe you explaining all the above to me. And thanks for that :)

My only computer speciality is making 3D virtual worlds and by doing that I more or less "flowed" into the world wide web without having had trouble during all those years. Guess that is just plain luck?

Or being intuitively able to comprehend it all from another level?

Love,

Mieke

Maybe North is reading this and if she wants to come back, she can determine how to do it.

I'm just happy and thankful for the people who make all this complex technology relatively simple to use.

Mieke, maybe soon we will be tapping into T. Chardin's Noosphere and the internet will be obsolete. :) 2012?

Love
B

If you are "banned" at IB, you can still log in to your Typekey account and post your messages, but your comment will be HELD FOR APPROVAL by the site moderator. If you are a first time offender, you (meaning your Typekey id, and not necessarily your IP if its static, and the range of IPs if its dynamic) are generally banned/moderated for a week or two. If you are a repeat offender, you may be banned for longer periods of time.

Criticism and adult language is fine at IB, what is not tolerated is a personal. A a good indication that you are banned is when you see a post of yours removed.

Another sure way to get banned at IB is if the moderator(s) of this site strongly suspect that you are an alias for some one who is not welcome at IB, like Ravi Kopra. There were also instances when the moderator(s) ban any id that criticizes Chopra, even constructively.

I was banned from IB for a good period of time. Lily S. who posted a message in last week's OT was also banned for a while.

North, if she wishes to post comments here, can try to post a message and see if it gets approved. I get a feeling that it would, and the moderation on the id lifted. I am a case in point.

Second para in no. 56. Completing the incomplete sentence...

Criticism and adult language is fine at IB, what is not tolerated is a personal agenda to make personal attacks on the hosts. And kinda become obsessive about it, which isn't good for your own health. You may have a lot of redeeming qualities with a lot of quality contributions and friendships over time, but then it all becomes diluted if you show a pattern of repating offenses and issuing challenges to the moderator(s) who had been soft on you in the past.

For now enjoy the show!

**Diablo** you once mentioned 'hacking and thwacking' person's computers....no not you doing it ;) Is it possible that could have happened to North? The way she described it, I remain suspicious.

Hi Bonnie,

We are in magical years indeed :)

Love to you!

08-08-08-08 Beijing: fireworks, paintings of mountains and the sun on paper, Confucius's wisdom in a beautiful bookform, the compass, the dove, hovering like a giant bird over the stadion, the earth represented with 9 rings and so many many countries that are presenting themselves. So colourful!

A truly magical show :)

Thank you all for talking more about North.

Simon your posts were very helpful. And Vanessa, especially, thanks for explaining the criteria the moderators would use to decide if someone should be banned. I read the links that Mieke had posted to see why she was banned. I could see that she had some criticism of Deepak. I've read quite a few comments since I've been here that criticize Deepak, mostly constructively, a few have had some nasty undertones.

So just to clarify, it's okay for us to be nasty toward each other just not toward Dr. Chopra? I know I'm being stupidly simplistic, but any comments are appreciated. Just trying to understand the rules and the rationales for them, so I can understand Dr. Chopra a little better.

Thanks everyone,
Sharon

and maybe Vanessa's post #57 is really the answer to my question.

Look up!! There's a meteor shower coming to your big-screen in the sky...commercial free.

"I read the links that Mieke had posted to see why she was banned. I could see that she had some criticism of Deepak."

Bear in mind, as I suggested previously, the comment that gets you banned is the one the moderator(s) generally deletes from the site. So I guess, you won't find such comments in the archives. But you might get an idea with the discussion in the thread in question.

"I've read quite a few comments since I've been here that criticize Deepak, mostly constructively, a few have had some nasty undertones."

If someone's nasty, you my not be banned right away. But if you have a history of making nasty attacks on Chopra or any other blog contributor, you will be banned.

"So just to clarify, it's okay for us to be nasty toward each other just not toward Dr. Chopra? I know I'm being stupidly simplistic, but any comments are appreciated. "

Depends on what your definition of nasty is. Sure many here have heated/passionate discussions, and throw personal insults but it all revolves round your agenda. People get banned for being "nasty" towards the community members like us, too. You haven't seen "nasty" that gets you banned, yet. No one's banned for attacking Deepak or any member for the duration of your stay here.

It is a fine balance, a lot depends on your 'history' AND your current conduct. If you have a lot of redeeming qualities with less percentage of transgressions, you may not be banned.

"Just trying to understand the rules and the rationales for them, so I can understand Dr. Chopra a little better."

You can't understand Dr. Chopra with the comment moderation policy! It is a rather general blog moderation policy (repeated ad hominems against the blog authors in spite of warnings shall get you banned) and intentblog moderation is more fair than the average site.

In case of North, it is not the first time she was banned. There were several episodes of North's banning discussions at IB. Mallika Chopra on occasion responded to the claims of unfair bannings in the past.

While there can be justification for using aliases, it is the intent (of malice - towards a particular person - in using it) that matters. There are many here like me, Diablo, Ambasteve skinny, John, Ed, Irvine, and many others who are not active like Divya, Ravi Kopra and scores more who were banned at least once for several different reasons. Which includes but not limed to "over posting" (a LOT of copy paste articles in case of John), posting really twisted and kinda mentally ill comments (like Diablo), abusive and vulgar comments (like Irvine Welsh,) confusion that you could be an alias of a banned member here with an agenda to attack Deepak (like Ed), and a combination of these (like me.)

Hi Sharon,
When I read your words - I feel you are writing from your heart and your sincere questions, and the lessons you have learned from life (and are still learning - me too :)

Having found IB, in the beginning is so thrilling, and even now, I feel the same, even when I can't write often, as I travel, and Life events unfold.

Still, the presence of it is a part of my being here now, and friendships make me want to stay :)

love to you,
~ Kate

Ambasteve is good example. He criticizes Chopra... a little if not none of it is constructive, it is mostly mocking and ad hominems, and some of it could be considered nasty, and he is still welcome at IB. (Not to mention he has 'some' redeeming qualities with his other contributions at this site.) But there was a time when he crossed a line one too many and was subsequently banned. But the good thing about that episode is that he realized his mistake and repented (sort of forth rightly) in a post that was approved by the moderator(s) and he was welcomed back. Simon Freejohn also made some nasty attacks on Chopra and one ore two other contributors, but he had the good sense to realize his mistakes and post a honest apology either on his own or when called out by other members. North had those options available every time but seems to not realize chose the option not to acknowledge any fault on her part.

Most people who get banned on a particular internet forums generally are allowed back. And many of them behave normal for a while and fall back to the same old pattern and get banned again for a limited period of time. Generally 2 weeks to 2 months a time. I suspect it generally takes 3 to 4 bans and the subsequent lifting of bans to finally break the back of a moderator. North seems to fall into that category. But who knows the moderator at IB might have a back that doesn't break to allow her back again... on popular demand from the community members;^)

Sharon, North isn't banned, that is just a bunch of crap, to keep us wondering. I think she just got a life and moved on. I'm sure she'll drop in sometime for a visit, as she was a very kind lady and had lots of interesting stuff to say.
I don't think anyone gets banned from this site, I have been trying to get banned, since the day I arrived, know such luck. I do like to hear about your life, you seem real Sharon, and warm.

Some of the folks here know and email her, dose anyone know how she is?

" Blessid are the Meek for they shall inherit the Earth."

Hi Vanessa,
Do you think Mallika is reading the OT?
Perhaps she can answer the questions and points you bring up.

Dear North,
I hope you had a wonderful day yesterday, celebrating your birthday!
I think of you,
always

"Do you think Mallika is reading the OT?"

I would be surprised if she doesn't take a peek in a whole week.

"Perhaps she can answer the questions and points you bring up."

Given that she responded to a comment in the discussion thread of her most recent blog entry, it could be possible. But I suspect its unlikely she would respond in an open thread. The last time she posted a message in the open thread was perhpas more than a year back.

North: Out of the Mouths of Babes.. an Olympic Gold Moment!

"On this, the day after my 52nd Birthday, I stood politically, morally and perception.. corrected! Out of the mouth of a babe, a child to me, my child, my teenager; while exchanging views on my banning watching the Olympics this year in China, due to China's infringement on human rights issues pertaining to Falun Gong practioners; and all other human rights violations occuring as oppressive means to control people continue.. I was more than adamant that banning viewing the Olympics was justified.

Oh, how easy it is over a time-span of 52 years to become subjected to cynicism.. perhaps due to disappointments in my own life, or regrets, remorses, or challenges life seems to serve only a few, out of the many.

Whatever it is, which makes us close our minds to proper perspectives on issues which pertain to our personal preferences of views and opinions.. I was wrong. In "choosing" to join in on the judgements against Chinas human rights violations; I, in lieu, subjected myself to the burnt offerings of doubt, fear, helplessness and hoplessness that this planet and all its inhabitants cannot unite for the purpose of caring for this earth and each other, to ensure our existance.. as such. In doing so, I rather fueled the fire of discernment, rather than extinguish the burning flame of anger, hatred, descriminating a country for its actions.. I became part of the imbalance.

When my son called last night to wish me a Happy Birthday - we discussed the Olympics. He, in so few words; reminded me, that I had closed my mind to "possibility" and "hope" and "positive change." Rather than hope, this Olympic milestone would create further harmony.. my thoughts, stubbornness, cynical views... prevented positive movement.

Funny really... as it has always been me to teach him; the importance of "thought-creation" and how so few can master it. How fitting; that the child teaches the parent in later years. How be-fitting it is; to stand corrected, and suddenly a new dawn opens a welcoming door, a refreshing window... a new creation of positive thought, rather than the old creation-sustainability of condemnation; where there is no room for change.

Paris Hilton's now infamous "Hilton-mercial" as I call it; was another humourous reminder of "not to stress."

My God.... but I did not sleep well last night, on the evenening of my birth 52 long years ago... no, I did not sleep well at all. My mind would not sleep, my thoughts would not stop, my wrestle with conscience and consiousness kept me captive, all the night. It was a rather disturbing plight!! : )

As such, I awoke after which seemed like only moments of slumber; to find my thoughts un-puzzled, my heart lighter, less burdened with the "need" to get involved in my egoic-dramatic inner battles with lifes issues which are abundant, desperate pleas for "release of burden."

I sit hear typing, wishing I could address China's president and peoples and tell them each and all.. that the opening ceremonies took my breath away!! I felt a spectacular essence of innocent awe, as I became part of the lament of the Olympics.. tears in my eyes of amazement, a lump in my throat from emotion of the beauty and choreography...

But still.. I cannot shake the feelings of disappointment, that so many in China are oppressed, impoverished, and struggling to survive.

And yet, I cannot shake this new feeling of Hope; that perhaps my son is right, and I stand corrected... and will continue henceforth from this day... to live "in hope" of positive, constructive change in the world.

Bravo China! This girl, was so very impressed with the beauty of the Opening Ceremonies presentation! Wow!! I bow.. to the East, as I turn a new page from a far,"

North

That was nice, Thank you.

it's not even funny...

vanessa...as we've seen in the past...is one of the gazillion persons of one man...

now this "it" is bashing "itself" when it refers to john and IW...is there a shrink in the house?

Kate and Tammy, a toast to speaking from the heart. Thank you for your so kind words. Can you believe that you and many of you here are my best friends at the moment. I guess it's sad in a way that I've never even met my best friends, but more than that it's just beautiful to know you.

Thank you Irvine for posting North's comment. I thought of the song "Teach your Children Well" as I read her comment. She talked about her child teaching her. What better compliment can a parent receive. I don't even know her but I can see why you all miss her.

Vanessa,

I read what you have posted..

Let me tell you something...

You have never met Deepak Chopra or been within three feet of him, but I have.

He does not give.... and I qoute another realised person that I know on this... "He does not give a tinkers fuck@!" whether you or anyone else is banned from Intentblog or not. He does not even know.

His kids are a different storey.. they are not him.

Listen to this and both his kids should listen to this..

When I was a Kid I grew up in the North of England in one of the hardest places known to man. When I was a bairn I used to toddle around Gypsy camps and the horse shows of Appleby in the lake districts. Men used to punch each others brains out for less than £50 in the bare knuckle boxing competitions. Amongst the fighters used to be a man named Danka. From the age of 20 till his mid thirties nobody could beat him. He was not even that hard a man. He had no evil about him.. he used to sit me and my sister on his knee when we were kids with blood dripping from his knuckles. He was a gentle Giant but even the most evil of men could not beat him. His heart would roll over them like a steam roller.

Danka had many children to different women and some of them keen boxers and fighting men..

But! none of them were ever like him

To this day if ever I meet a Gypsy here in the UK I always talk about Danka to them and they know his name far and wide as being the hardest man ever in the Gypsy bare knuckle boxing circuit; He was unbeatable in his prime.

One Gypsy said something to me that I met in Dublin Ireland after I mentioned Danka's name. He said he was the best. Then we talked about his sons and how none of them had his spirit to become like him... he said this to me and I never forgot it..

" A fighter can not breed a Fighter"

Deepaks Kids are not him you see...

He is the one with the spark.. they live on that.. when he is gone so will the spark..

A man or woman can not breed themselves into their kids.

A great Author - She can not breed a great Author

A Great Artist - She Can not breed a great Artist

A Great Boxer - She can not bread a great Boxer

A great warrior - He can not bread a great warrior

A great teacher - He can not bread a great teacher

A Great Racehorse - She can not bread a great racehorse

It just does not work like that you see....

Deepak Chopra is the man... Nobody else

There are no line of Kings there is only the coming of the God in the moment

"A fighting man - can not breed a fighting man"

"A mountain does not appear twice - it rises up and it crumbles under the weight of its own greatness in the fulness of its time"

In the seventh stage there are no relatives you see? there is only the realisation of the heart felt spirit of the divine. You may be a great king/Queen a Slave or a Master but the more God is with you in your spirit heart the more you will outshine all existence.

We are all related you see, Biology, sperm, DNA it means shit next to spiritual bonds

I must say, it has been an honor to be here at intentblog the last few weeks.

Yep.

Peace

Simon~~I guess Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson aren't exactly what you're talking about, huh

(teasing you. Truth is, I got chills when I read your story. And it's not an ordinary story. It's your experience. So glad you shared it, and the passion behind the message)

Simon you seem angry or frustrated, do you think your someone your not? Do you hear voices? whats your dill pickle? why so uptight? Careful that soap box is gettin taller every post, don't slip we wouldn't want you to fall into real humility now would we?

it seemth like the emperror has losteth his shirt...

What?!?! Miss posted a video by a terrorist: omigod!! (Beautiful song though :)).

Yeah, for a second D, but, she broke me heart once again and inspiration is lost: o woe is me . . .

:)

Eve of Destruction

Tammy,

I am not responsible for the projetion that you place on me. Thats your stuff you see not mine.
You see me as your world is not as mine is.
Most people I have met that hear voices are drug addicts, are you an addict Tammy?

The story I told was just a way of showing how I do not put any emphasis what so ever on a person based on who they are related to.

Deepak Chopra is a rare being indeed. His insights and teachings are priceless; This does not mean that his son or daughter have that same insight you see...

I come here to listen to what Deepak has to say and nobody else.

That might sound bit narrow minded but.... few people here have anything to say that is as pure and high level as what he is saying you see.

So like a great racehorse can not breed a great racehorse..

There is only one Deepak Chopra you see, same as there was only one Nisargadatta Maharaj and one Buddha and so on.

Sharon,

Yeah my growing up was quite tough and I was around some pretty mean people. I learned a while ago just how valuable my childhood was to me. As even though it was not all roses it exposed me to what pain and suffering were at a very young age. Everybody has a sad or violent story you see... but for a lot of people their past has ruined them and they use it as an excuse to play out the role of the person so badly wronged by their past. They have become their past in sense as they seek their identity within their suffering.

For me; my suffering and my loss, my failures and the things I maybe shouldn't have done are all Perfect.

The moment I learned this was one night when I was out with my cousin in downtown Vancouver on a busy Saturday night. I got seperated from him and I was a stranger to the place then so I as lost essentially. I remember this guy coming over to me and saying he knew where I wanted to get to and he would show me the way. If I had gone with this guy he would have certainly mugged me or maybe even worse. I knew it the moment I set eyes on him what he was capable of. I backed off into a crowd of people and I could see that he knew that I knew what he was about and he was wondering how I knew. He was either carrying a gun or a knife as he put his hand toward it as I backed off.

I knew what this guys game was quite simply because I had grown up wth guys like him and some worse than him.

So even the hardest moments in ones life are sometimes the most valuable as they can teach you the greatest lessons in life.

Simon as usual I just skip most your post as you ramble on about the insane.

There was a time you did know true humility, I could feel it. You seem like an anger miss placed middle age dude that may even have an obsession with men, and that's ok.

Your right you are only a little fragment of my own personality ( REALITY ), the part that is out of touch with kind humility. So I'll do some thinkin about the parts I am most ashamed off.

As for you Simon, learn your lessons well, and that starts with kind humility.

" The highest expression of wisdom is kindness "
Lets see you try it Simon, I know you can do it.

You know I am your soul and I will dig as deep as as needed, after all am I only a creation of yours asking to be healed. Know matter how *High* your walls are, you can not hide, because I am YOU.

And you know this, so bring it on. You only fight and mistreat yourself.

Listen Who's talking!

Of course I am all of the things that you say I am because the picture you paint of me is by your own mind.

You have no idea what kindness I show and give relentlessly to others. Its not even important that you do know.

You keep saying that I know this, that and the other..

In your world I don't know anything so let us agree to that and forget everything else for now.

hey Deepak's okay......except when he goes on about his love child Barak Obama...:))))))

not speaking of Barak Obama I will only say....a man is a man is a man is a human being, is a human being is a human being....case in point John Edwards....now, I have no doubt that John Edwards adores his wife and family but when things get out of hand, we, all of us can take a flattering moment and want to make it a night or two or 60.....if it makes us FEEL GOOD when we are hungry.

They showed a clip of John Edwards being interviewed by the Women he had the affair with and he is blushing like a teen, he is in a state of flirtation with her, in that moment...and watching it, well, it is all over his face, he was red as a beet...it shows a man vulnerable to temptation.....and what man isn't?????or woman...

anyway.....it all made me think about what I have been saying about all this Barak Obamamania....remember....he is just a man, a politician....he, for sure, ain't no saviour.....amen to that....

have a great day all.....ruth

Simon I only you from your writing, thats it. You know I love you Simon, and I know you love me. There is a reason that were having this chat, in spite of the tone, there is value here, and you know that as well.

I love you, I want healing for you and for me.
Whatever that means, however that looks, HEALING.
So if that means bantering back and forth, so be it.

"Vanessa,

I read what you have posted.."

Listen up dipshit,

I don't give a f*** whether you been 3 feet from Chopra's seesmic thingy on your screen or in-person enamored by his vibrational physical presence.

I don't even give a f*** if you claim to have had the privilege of having his teeny weeny indian member 3 inches inside of you.

"He does not give.... and I qoute another realised person that I know on this... "He does not give a tinkers fuck@!" whether you or anyone else is banned from Intentblog or not. He does not even know."

He doesn't give a f*** if your presumtious a** or anyone else think he gives a f*** or not about whatever...

[FWIW although he might not give a f***..he does KNOW that Skep is banned.

http://www.intentblog.com/archives/2007/10/my_last_message.html]

I don't even give a f*** with your labels of "enlightened" or "realized." Go kiss your list of enlightened gurus' asses, hoping some enlightenment comes your way.

I appreciate Deepak's or any teacher's work, which helps some to realize their own inner guru/inner realization.

A true guru/master is one who frees you from him. Naturally it takes some effort on the part of the student. Evidently it seems some cannot muster that effort. Confusing more and more attachment to supposedly realized people and their teachings as the end rather than an obstacle on the path that needs to be weeded out.

"His kids are a different storey.. they are not him."

Who said they are? Did they claim they are Enlightened(with a capital E) or claim that they are some wannabe gurus in their father's mold.

This is a clear case of projection by Simon on Chopra's children.

Unfortunate, he takes my comment on moderation as an opportunity to attack his children and display once again his ego's agenda.

#92: "I am not responsible for the projetion that you place on me. Thats your stuff you see not mine."

For f**'s sake take your own advice, if you can.

"Deepak Chopra is a rare being indeed. His insights and teachings are priceless; This does not mean that his son or daughter have that same insight you see..."

Thanks for rating Chopra and his teachings on the enlightenment scale. But there is no universal rating of beings. Some of us believe there are better spiritual teachers than him. You see there are many paths, and several different ways in which some teachings resonate with a person, and your path is the not the best one. Now that's narrow mindedness.

"I come here to listen to what Deepak has to say and nobody else.

"That might sound bit narrow minded but.... few people here have anything to say that is as pure and high level as what he is saying you see."

Its not narrow minded at all. That's your opinion and we respect that.

You should have shifted your a** to

http://deepakchopra.com/

Over there you can only 'listen,' you may not have an opportunity to act like a troll and get the attention, like here, though. Too bad.

Its a good thing though, you have an opportunity to share your life's experiences here. It helps you in way... comforts you that there are others who might listen to you... although you shut your ears to them...that there are others to share your sh*t with ...and also can tell them how full of sh*t they are soothe your pompous ego.

It is clear that you don't really 'listen' to anyone, even Deepak Chopra. You are so full of yourself and your projections. You have no business to speak if you can't listen.

BTW Mallika Chopra and Gotham Chopra don't give a f*** to what you say about them.

Love, compassion & kindness
and cheers!
...& regards

Vaness

I wonder Ruth if you would have made the same observations re: Edwards if it was say Mitt Rommney or another Republican candidate? Remember Mitt is just a man, hmmmm....

I'm thinking maybe no... :)

Boy Johnny boy gets a pass no matter what he does or says or fools around with. Must be his hair :)

Hope you are doing well my friend,

Ruth writes:

"anyway.....it all made me think about what I have been saying about all this Barak Obamamania....remember....he is just a man, a politician....he, for sure, ain't no saviour.....amen to that...."

Liar! That's not what YOU have been saying. That's what I and sevral others have been reminding you all along. The 'savior' label is currently a republican meme (a dog whistle to the christian right), and one propagated by Hillary cult worshipers like you, before them.

Ambasteve writes:

"I wonder Ruth if you would have made the same observations re: Edwards if it was say Mitt Rommney or another Republican candidate?"

Of course, if you want to talk about sex and politicians and the impact on their career, why not look at Larry Craig, David Vitter, Mark Foley and the years of covering up his actions, Newt Gingrich serving his wife divorce papers while she was in the hospital with cancer and of course McCain’s tossing his first wife to the curb and having an affair with Cindy the heiress?

"Boy Johnny boy gets a pass no matter what he does or says or fools around with."

A free pass. Really?

John Edwards has become the issue du jour and too many people are salivating over whether his political career is over, we now have yet another hypocritical and needless diversion from what is really important. Just like the recent overexposure of Paris Hilton and McCain’s passing the buck on his increasingly nasty and spiteful campaign, none of this means a damn thing to, oh, 300 million or so Americans.

But since it is a Democrat and since it has to do with sex and since the real horrors of what has been impacting many people on a day to day basis is getting buried and ignored just to create yet another diversion for people to either say "HA" or to get on their moral high horse (all while probably keeping their own skeletons in their closet), that doesn’t mean that it shouldn’t be called for the complete and utter crap that is really is.

"In the course of several campaigns, I started to believe that I was special and became increasingly egocentric and narcissistic. If you want to beat me up - feel free. You cannot beat me up more than I have already beaten up myself. I have been stripped bare and will now work with everything I have to help my family and others who need my help."

That's right, issue du jour you don't have control of what is newsworthy, perhaps in the future, the airwaves will be controlled and the only really important issues gets discussed but sorry to report Irivne, we still live in a free society.

Hey Irvine,

Care to comment on this headline or do you shy away from such issues, since it neither helps or hinders Obama?

Moving past the issue of sex, which is of course "newsworthy," but is really only important to people who have so little in their own lives to be proud of that they have to obsess and point fingers at others to feel better about themselves, there are so many other reasons to be absolutely frustrated with the hypocritical moralists and smarmy narcissists that are once again rearing their ugly heads. Over the past week, we found out that the White House not only passed off forged documents to sell the Iraq invasion, but they forged their own documents to sell the Iraq invasion, and there is not a peep about it?

[If this gets reported in the traditional media for what it is worth, we no longer "live in a free society"! The horror.]

We found out that the US attorney scandal is now focusing on the White House inner circle, yet there is a collective yawn. The much ballyhooed military tribunal of Hamdan resulted in a 5 month sentence even after a kangaroo court trial - basically a repudiation of the entire administration view on military tribunals:

[If this gets reported in the traditional media for what it is worth, we no longer "live in a free society"! The horror.]

We just passed 500 deaths in Afghanistan, and the Iraqi Congress adjourned without meeting one benchmark that was supposed to be the main result of the so-called "surge", yet all we hear is the foregone conclusion that the surge worked.

Torture is still on the table. One Attorney General approved of torture memos, while also being part of voter suppression lawsuits while the latest Attorney General approves of waterboarding as long as it isn’t being done to him, and also is a chief obstructor of justice when it comes to the Executive Branch. Iraqi prisoners are being put in small wooden boxes, which of course is most certainly not torture.

[If this gets reported in the traditional media for what it is worth, we no longer "live in a free society"! The horror.]

Spying on Americans has been given the thumbs up by Congress, criminal defiance of subpoenas by Rove, Miers, Bolton are being allowed to set a dangerous precedent, there is more saber rattling about attacking Iran - with similar lies being trotted out by this administration, and the current republican nominee.

And speaking of that republican nominee, he has lied about just about everything, he can’t even get the difference between the Sunnis, the Shiites, Iran and al Qaeda right. He lies about his pork projects, he lies about his opponent, he lies about comments he made days earlier, weeks earlier, months earlier and years earlier. He breaks his own campaign finance rules and lies about it. He lies to the press about his top advisor/lobbyist connections and meetings he had on behalf of lobbyists.

And he gets a pass on all of it.

Private entities that made huge profits by taking tremendous risks are being bailed out by our tax dollars (in a unilateral move by the Executive Branch), but nothing substantial is being done for homeowners that are struggling and are facing foreclosure on their homes. So much for that "ownership society". A smoke and mirrors "stimulus package" that basically used American taxpayers as conduit to send billions to the credit card, oil and gas companies and retail industries has proven to be the farce as the economy didn’t come close to growing in the way that we were told it would.

Gas prices are still near all time highs as the oil companies reported the highest profits in the history of the universe, and while offshore drilling won’t do squat in the short, medium or long term, McCain is pocketing handsomely from oil company contributions, yet none of this is being reported either.

But let’s focus on a two year old affair by someone who isn’t part of the Presidential campaign anymore, isn’t in Congress and is far from the first person in politics to have an affair. Because THAT is what is important to the people of this country.

Jeez.....

Hi Steve,

By saying pointing out that Edwards is just a man, a human being I am not excusing his action at all,(believe me I could go on and on about the holes in his story line) I was just being somewhat humorus about all this "sex" stuff from our politicians, who all stand on the platform of self-righteous,....but the platform just isn't all that sturdy when it comes to our human desires..

Steve, really, sexual temptation is a very bi-partisan issue :)))))

so quick to jump on the partisan horse, you are....relax...:)))

have a great weekend...ruth

I suspect Mitt is too puritanical for illicit sex...but, then, I really wouldn't have guessed John Edwards to have fallen victim, especially, at the time in his life and marriage that he did...so shows you how much I know....nothing :))))

"Russian jets attack Georgian city as battles rage"'

***

As most of you probably know, Russia has ordered troops into the disputed region of South Ossetia after Georgia escalated the conflict by an offensive against the Ossetians. Georgia has withdrawn its 2000 soldiers from USA's Iraqi coalition, and although an actual declaration of war does not seem to have occurred, its clear that a war is indeed occurring.

My own take on the situation is that Georgia is somewhat at fault here for escalating the conflict, but Russia also seems to have had its moves planned out, and if its indeed escalating the conflict and moving against Georgia proper (rather than restricting its intervention to Ossetia) as Georgia claims, then its also at fault.

Conflict between the Ossetians and Georgia is nothing new --

See:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgian-Ossetian_conflict_%281918-1920%29

-- during the Russian Civil War, the Ossetians launched a bloody Bolshevik-supported uprising against the Menshevik Georgia government; eventually, the Red Army intervened and was joined by many Ossetians. Afterwards, however, the two groups seem to have been peaceful up until the breakup of the USSR around 1989.

Essentially, what happened was that Georgia wanted South Ossetia, and many South Ossetians wanted to join North Ossetia (basically a part of Russia) or form their own nation. This escalated into the War in South Ossetia from 1991-1992. There was apparently minor Russian involvement, but the war was fought mostly between Ossetia and Georgia. After a coup d'etat against the Georgian president, causing significant instability, a ceasefire occurred in which South Ossetia became de facto independent, though internationally recognized as part of Georgia.

It should be noted here that Georgia seems to have a lot of internal dissent - Reuters has an article from 2006 on how Georgia has treated its minorities. South Ossetia is not the only de facto independent but internationally part of Georgia state - another one is Abkhazia, which may also join the war against Georgia (according to wiki - reference is in Russian so I can't understand it.)

There have been several flareups in Georgian-South Ossetian relations since 2004 or so; the most major one began on August 1, when a 'sniper war' began occurring between Georgia and South Ossetia; both sides blamed the start of conflict on the other. During this time, Georgia appears to have been moving tanks and soldiers towards the border. Considering Georgia's response to this 'sniper war', I think its likely that this escalation of the conflict occurred as part of their plan.

On August 7-8, Georgia began a large-scale invasion of South Ossetia. According to Wikipedia (russian references, again), many South Ossetians began evacuating to North Ossetia (part of Russia), and Georgia bombed these fleeing refugees. Abkhazia began to send volunteers towards Ossetia at this point. According to Georgian officials, they took over 2/3 of South Ossetia, and surrounded its capital, Tskinhvali.

In response, Russia began to intervene in the conflict on the Ossetian side, moving tanks into Ossetia, a move which Georgia described as an invasion. However, Russia does not appear to be restricting the conflict to Ossetia - it has reportedly bombed airbases next to Tbilisi, the Georgian capital. Georgia also claims to have downed two Russian jets over its own territory. Russia denies these claims.

Here's my interpretation of the situation:

Russia controls most of the natural gas supply to Europe, so the European Union and most of the Eastern Europe former-USSR countries can't do much to intervene. China has criticized the attack (as an act of war during the Olympics, when there's supposed to be world harmony), but its probable that they are quietly supportive, given the strategic alliance between them and Russia. And of course, the US is in no position to intervene in any way, given our commitments in Iraq and given the neo-con foreign policy of this administration.

Let's be clear: there are two reasons only the US administration care about Georgia: the oil pipelines that go through its territory, and the opportunity it provides to run aggressive policies towards Russia.

Let's also be very explicit: this conflict is not unexpected: it is a direct consequence of USA's policies, in particular with respect to Kosovo.

Plus, if you thought that invading Iran would cause a world energy crisis, Russia has the world's largest natural gas reserves, and is the world's leading energy exporter. But it seems like Russia has had this planned out for a while, and though the world is going to protest, there isn't anyone capable of stopping it from taking over Georgia if it wishes. The question is, of course, if its escalating the conflict to Georgia (as Georgia claims) by bombing Georgia proper, or if the conflict is only over Ossetia.

"They have become their past in sense as they seek their identity within their suffering."

Hi Simon~
This statement really struck a chord with me. I know I attached my identity to my suffering around my husband's suicide for a really long time. And honestly, I know I still do in some sense. It's hard to separate that from me. It changed me. Sitting on the bench in my kitchen, looking out the open door to the garage which held the steps leading to the basement, watching my husband roll by, lying on that gurney covered completely by a white sheet, straps across his chest and legs... in real time this lasted maybe a second. But for me, there was no time. And I am there right now. It is happening always.

sigh. Now I am here again, even though that event is still happening. I'm not sure how to separate my identity from it. I'm open to thoughts...

derek,
I love Cat Stevens (even though he's a terrorist. I dunno, Sid looks pretty terror-istic ;)
and that song totally reminded me of you. Thanks for your peace-full words, and for the CSNY video, too.
Bittersweet Symphony was cool. Thanks Craig.

I'm off to our yearly family reunion, an outside picnic on a gorgeous day with Mom's side. Rosalind Vicare, she is full-blooded Sicilian. Her grandparents on both sides took the boat to America around the turn of last century. They wear their hearts on their sleeves, passionate, warm and honest. I am so grateful for their influence. Dad's German, so the 2 ends of the spectrum have been trying to cohabitate in my body since conception. What a ride! Wouldn't change it for the world.

Have a great day everyone.

Sharon,

There comes a point when grief is so powerful that in order to over come it you must die to it. My aunty seeked her identity in suffering all of her life. She assumed the identity of the wronged one, of the Suffering soul to the point that if she ever let go of that identity it would mean her very self that she thought of as herself would be like it had died. She held onto that suffering as if it was her very life.

The only thing one can do is to Investigate the self. Think of yourself with all of your emotions, thoughts and feelings as a mystery that you would like to solve. By starting this investigatin process you begin to untangle yourself.

Think of the thing that pains you above all other things. It may be something like... "I should have been there at that moment when my husband needed a particular thing" or "I wish I had never said those things, or done that certain something"

That is how you unravel this Mystery, you go to the very centre of your suffering and investigate as many times as it needs to be ivestigated. When you have solved that particular part of the Mystery you will feel at home with it. That particular thing will no longer pain you but you will have realisation to the point that you feel at home with it, comfortable with it. Make it your lifes ambition to want to understand your pain.

Actually Scientology is a great way to learn how to deal with pain; if that is what you need to persue then so be it, but the result will be the same at the end.

Understanding Karma is one way of dealing with pain on a much broader scale. A lot of people I meet think that they understand Karma but in fact they don't. Karma is very Misunderstood around the world. Peoples idea of Karma is usually based around Cause and effect but it is much more than that. The best way to describe Karma as quickly as possible is to say "What you are is what you will be" and untill you realise this your Karma will always be what you are. Once you realise it your Karma is much more fluid and begins to flow more balanced and you have more control over your Karma.

At the moment my Karma is becoming very low as I am mixed up with someone at the moment who has terrible karma and I am exposing them to my positive Karma in exchange for their negative Karma. It is helping them but I am feeling the effects of it big time and having to wash it out of me without transfering it into other people too much.

I am going to see them now in fact.

There are different levels to exposure

There is Knowing

There is Understanding

and beyond them two is Realisation this is when the penny has dropped. You don't merely know something or Unerstand something but you realise it within yourself as a profond truth.

Thats what you have to do with your pain when you investigate it..

Know it, Understand it and that will lead you to realisation.

Hi Sharon,
Have a great afternoon with your family!
I am enjoying some sunshine just now, after a week of rain.
Your family heritage is neat. I come from Scottish & German descent. Quite a mix. :)

I see my thoughts can be as 'friends', or 'enemies', depending on my feelings - especially when remembering past events.

I like when I feel I am as the ocean, without waves ...
then comes a ripple, or two
and I am on my surfboard
riding the heights
so exhilarating
then,
comes the crashing, splashing
towards the shore
;-)

back to the calm ocean
I go

but first,
its time for some outdoors activities
while the sunshine lasts!

Hi Simon,

desire to be 'realized'
is a form of bondage.

'liberation'
is the freedom inherent
in each present moment.

There is a magnificent storm about to unleash on us here in the Springs. It is almost always sunny here so when a storm comes it's like candy.

Out of long ol page you wrote Simon, this is the most profound, and to think it was in the first few words
" There comes a point when grief is so powerful that in order to over come it you must die to it."

Very good advise and very well said, Thank you, I needed to hear that as well.

I love you
