Deepak Chopra - August 15, 2008
A great deal of confusion is being stirred up now over where the disastrous experience of Iraq and the collapse of neoconservatism will lead. By an ironic twist, Barack Obama has been labeled an idealist, when in fact he is an arch-realist who detected the need for change much earlier than any other major politician. John McCain, who cannot escape his share in promoting right-wing illusions, advocates the reversal of history, which means ignoring Iraq and continuing on as if it never happened. But some significant illusions died on the battlefield over the past five years, leading to major shifts on many fronts. Let's continue down the list.
3. The illusion of America as the friendly superpower. As pure wishful thinking, this one has no peer, and yet the vast majority of the public still probably believes in it, thanks to a long history of using American power for good. That good is undeniable, but in its shadow the U.S. acts like any other nation state, aggressively promoting its own ends and using military force when it meets opposition. The concept of nationalism by definition excludes other nations, and that exclusion is never neutral. "They" are suspect foreigners who are different from us, not just in their policies but in their moral being. Thus the U.S. has a ridiculous image of vaguely immoral France, and for fifty years the image of evil Russians was promoted without shame as a means of pumping up American militarism. (The public still believes that Reagan toppled an evil empire, ignoring the blatant fact that the collapse of Communism was primarily caused by its own internal failings and dissension within the Warsaw Pact.)
After 1989, when the U.S. became the only surviving superpower, the illusion of our friendliness turned paper thin in the hands of militant neoconservatives who aimed to Americanize the world by force, In total disregard of other traditions and local history, they set out to reinvent the Middle East, essentially by saying, "Our way of life is obviously so much better than yours -- adopt it now or else." Suddenly the friendly superpower found itself saddled, not with the global sympathy earned on 9/11 but its opposite: we are imagined to be a worldwide threat and rampantly selfish in our ambitions to dominate others.
4. The illusion that alliances are expendable. The Iraq war began with touting the alliance of the willing, typifying as right anyone who wanted to fight Bush's cause and wrong anyone who didn't. As if this wasn't divisive enough, the morally righteous countries who joined in the conflict met with miniature debacles that mirrored our own. But Iraq was a nakedly unilateral war when all the verbal gloss is stripped away, and as such it showed almost complete disregard for alliances. In addition, the neocons left the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to fester on its own, the first time since 1948 that the U.S. withdrew its good offices and refused to act as a peace broker despite the crying need for one. But 9/11, plus some canny maneuvering on the part of Ariel Sharon, forced the administration's hand, and a show of allying Israeli and American interests had to be resumed.
The neocons were so certain of American hegemony that the general message sent to our long-time allies was "Who needs you anymore?" This attitude, even if by some miracle of history it proved true, made the world order uncertain and steadily began to allow traditional allies to drift away. Now that American dominance is uncertain, to say the least, two things are happening at once. Europe is feeling friendlier to the interests of Russia and China, while formerly subservient countries have discovered that they can stand up to the bully on the block and not be crushed. This two-sided instability has yet to show how far the U.S. has toppled; confusion still reigns, but the signs are ominous.

Hi Deepak,
Politics has always been a dirty game, up till now I hope.
Therefore Don McLean already said: you have to love each other, otherwise politics is a joke. Listen to his American pie full of symbolism:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsZFiMo8TIc
Living in Europe and reading your above thread, am inclined to reply to this by urging American people to elect Obama as their next President. The more so, since he has been received very warmly in Europe not so long ago.
But this is exactly what you had in mind when writing your above article, isn't it? :)
Am not so sure anymore though.
Perhaps this time, it is really up to the American people to elect a government of national unity, with no president of a specific party as their leader, but a combined leadership of both republican and democratic signature.
So that there will be at least more consensus towards the very serious task of solving problems, not only in the U.S.A. itself, but around the world. We have become a global family, we cannot turn that back anymore.
Well, these are my latest thoughts about being realistic in politics.

Aloha Deepak and Everyone
Hopefully with 2012, collectively will be multi-dimensional beings where we will be self-governing. And 2012 can be now. Maybe it is time to elect nobody for President. It is time for involution. America is the bridge to the new world within. It is like we are paralyzed in a fear of self-governing. Government is a loose coalition of bureaucracy. The meek are ready. love patty
The difference with Barack Obama is that he asked the people to define the Democratic Platform this year rather than defining it for them. And it was not limited to just Democrats but anyone wanting to participate.
So I submitted some material from the Universal Platform which integrates both polarities creating a whole that results in balance.
The other difference is that Barack Obama lets one have a blog on his web site. Which I posted several things today.
There are those that see themselves as separate from the whole competing with others and those that see themselves as a part of the whole integrating and collaborating with others.
In once case the building of paradise and the other the building of an empire, and empires soon fall because they are built on a fiction. A Paradise is built on truth and cannot be lost unless some start subscribing to fictions.
One of the posts was the same topic as yours Deepak regarding Illusions.
Bringing an end to a Big Illusion and the semantics of a fiction
I would hope that all will participate in destroying a big illusion. I am constantly seeing references that maintain a perspective based on a falsity.
“The government wants”
“Russia does that”
“The US did this”
“China has decided”
“Russia is angry”
These are all false statements not based on reality but based on fiction. These labels cannot think or decide. Only individuals can. The only way we might make the statements is if every member of the country could have their voice measured. Previously this would not have been possible but now thanks to technology it is.
The illusion created is that the whole country is making this decision or taking this action and it is not. There is no mechanism in any Nation yet by which the whole country can make a decision. This illusion obscures the fact and reality that a few individuals are making these decisions; for sure they are influenced by the many that grant these individuals and small groups the power to make them.
The question to ponder is: are the decisions and actions of these individuals and small groups influenced by their own individual needs and wants? Are their own needs and wants in alignment with the collective intentions and interests? If there is a conflict between the individuals and the many which interest is favored? That these individuals have finite minds perhaps impaired with fiction and limited knowledge should we be concerned as to the quality of their decisions?
How can multiple discerning minds be brought into play to destroy any fictions and how can the wealth of a collective intelligence be used to overcome the limitations of a single finite mind? The cost to bribe or influence a single individual is minimal, the cost to influence or bribe 10,000 is phenomenal putting them out of reach of those that would corrupt them.
"When history no longer repeats itself evolution has occurred"
~MySelf
“All the trial and tribulation in the world today is simply the natural impetus for evolution, a symptom of having not evolved. To make it go away we simply need to evolve.”
~MySelf
Universal Self Government Systems
New Consciousness Government
■Collective control with individual sovereignty
■Wisdom council stop gap for collective ignorance
■Liberty and truth watchdog group to preserve individual sovereignty and freedom.
We have most of the elements in place what is missing is a measured and authenticated voice of the people. An element when properly executed would have more power than any lobby or special interest. A representative then only needs to look at the sum total of the intent of their constituents and use this as a reason to decline the requests of political favor and know without question how they should represent the will of the people.
So we have the conservative perspective (wisdom) and the liberal perspective (freedom) combined to create an integrated perspective with balance.
Note that the term "conservative" now is actually being used by those that lacking wisdom and wishing to maintain the status quo that provides them a disproportionate advantage. The result is that conservatives by resisting change, thwart the evolution of mankind and the nation.
Another fundamental component of this evolved system of government is a public forum for Open Socratic Dialog. This allows for all perspectives to be heard. When we integrate two polarities we get a whole perspective which l4eads to balance and all needs not necessarily wants are met. When we base implementation on one or the other polarity we get imbalance.
A socratic dialog not only serves to create an integrated and balanced perspective it brings in the power of collective intelligence to eliminate the fictions and falsity. Fictions that would divide us while we debate the which fiction is most true while missing the truth that would resolve the conflict. The other benefit of Socratic Dialog is collective wisdom and insight.
Communism, Socialism, and Capitalism have not worked to produce a world providing everyone a life worth living even in their own individual domains, due to ego impediment, the fiction of separation and the suppression of individual freedom and the use of force.
Rather than the specific government system it has more to do with the level of consciousness and so we seek first to raise this and from this will result a new system that will work.
One would be building a new system government facilitated by the Universal Information System, having collective control with individual sovereignty. Current management and leadership that fail to evolve would be relieved of their positions naturally without force based on a measured performance in supporting the intentions and will of the people. Where the current controlling groups have used economic devices to replace armies and brute force; one will use communications and technology to replace the use of economic force. Where money was used as the currency of power this next evolution will use the truth and collective intent as the currency of power and money to direct the energy.
This Georgian conflict is bringing some insight as to the political and government system flaws and “illusions” or fictions that manifest the conflict and there are a lot of dynamics at play here and many different players far away from the conflict itself. Politics being how various needs and wants are expressed and met or obtained how combined efforts are implemented and what joint ventures are formed and funded.
Since one is working on the new Universal Self Government Systems Design and the truth based shifts in perception and perspective that are required for
“EveryOne a life worth living”
It is bringing to light some of the new system design requirements and questions to be answered.
Here we have a big game being played. Let’s touch on the players and their motivations, the reality and the illusions.
We have a small group of men in Russia and a small group of men in Georgia the so called leadership or management. We will call these the “main” Chess players. We have the citizens of Russia and the citizens of Georgia, then we have these artificial boundaries drawn up by who based on what, something arbitrary perhaps? Then we have the citizens of this small region in question. We will call the citizens the pawns in the game being played by the chess players. There are other players here as well, the bankers, the insurance industry, the arms dealers and defense industry.
The chess players claim to be representing the interests of the pawns and actually to be serving them. I would venture to say that the interests of the pawns are second to the interests of the Chess players. In fact the pawns are the first to be sacrificed. Those making the war moves are far removed from the conflict, the sacrifice, and the horror.
In this situation we have the people of this region in question currently under the control of the Georgia chess players unhappy and wishing to be aligned with the Russian chess players. No doubt this region has tangible assets aside from the people simply living there which the chess player in Georgia does not want to lose.
From a humanistic perspective the citizens of this region should be allowed to decide their alignment and joint venture agreement. Of course here we must ask the question though is this desire to be a part of the Russian Federation the want of the “whole” of the citizens of this small region or is it the desire of a few of them that will obtain some disproportionate advantage by instigating the new joint venture with the new party?
How do we ensure that the needs of the pawns are put first over the wants of the Chess players? Collective control and decision making would work but how do we balance some of the disadvantages of collective control that might prove to be true? Where an individual agent would be much more efficient and timely in making decisions? Can we overcome these disadvantages using technology? Can the two be integrated? How does the collective ensure that the individual agent’s intentions remain in alignment with the intentions of the collective? Transparency is one way.
What of the artificial divisions created by labels, and the artificial boundaries created by lines on a map? Are they not the true source of conflict that by design destroys unity? Would we not erase them from our minds so we can live as one in harmony?
The new way of setting boundaries is by joint venture and in the New World boundaries would be defined by joint venture.
Obama Democratic (Universal) Platform & Framework Part 1
One’s vision of a new universal integrated platform is the implementation of a global framework that allows for natural leadership, self empowered management, and individual service providers that are properly compensated for value created; a framework for balanced integrated systems that facilitate the evolution of products and services designed from a holistic perspective. For example new biochemical enhancement protocols and understanding true disease prevention, if they are applied system wide, health care cost burdens will decrease 75% for both corporations and government.
The focus would be on generating value for other economic system participants, whether this is a group of individuals (Corporation), individual contractors or some hybrid joint venture between a number of entity types. If the value exchange system is properly evolved and managed the wealth will flow naturally, proportionate to the amount of genuine value actually created and will be enforced with their choice of where the energy (money) flows or does not.
In this new system of collective intent and intelligence the need for government regulation and oversight will be minimal, the consumer, customer, client and shareholder will directly influence the policy and decision making process.
With a reduced dependency on the public sector, each individual is assuming a portion of this collective task creating greater efficiency, tax burdens are reduced.
Technology enhanced real time collaboration will accelerate the speed of which deliverables are manifested and joint venture will leverage resources and assets to maximize their utilization and return on shared investment.
These new systems will be self regulating and somewhat autonomous, creating even more energy efficiency with leaders not so much being chosen as they will be simply happening.
Thanks to advances in technology the people of our Nation do not need to work as much to support the essential economy, food, shelter, health, education, transportation and energy. The future is 20% work, 20% education, and 60% travel, exploration, creative endeavors, rest and relaxation.
A creative solution to feed the hungry, resulting from collective intelligence entails Amaranth and Surface Soil Remineralization.
It has the added benefit of reducing everyone’s cost burdens; war and disease. Easy sell when the perfect time comes to do it.
Dear Empyrius,
Great commentary in Posting No. 1.

Dear Dr. Chopra and everyone.
The Bush Administration has done irreparable damage to both the economic state of our country and to our country's image as a well-meaning superpower. The United States is now viewed as an aggressor nation that promotes its own interests in an indiscriminate way. Our interference in world affairs is initiated without due consideration as to long lasting repercussions in the world at large.
The people are not presented with any leaders of vision and real character. Sadly, the public has been brainwashed into accepting the false idea that there are actual divisions in governmental factions. They are continually fed empty promises and encouraged to believe that those in control actually have their best interests at heart.
The public watches one failed Administration after another and in their desire for relief, they waiver between one extreme faction to another. The current Administration has failed miserably but, a new one that is led by someone who is bent on marching towards a dangerous radical socialist regimen is not the answer.
We need a miracle. We need to focus on finding someone in government who speaks the truth and who does not say one thing and then demonstrate by action that he believes in the exact opposite.
Best Wishes,
"Betsy" S.
"Europe is feeling friendlier to the interests of Russia and China, while formerly subservient countries have discovered that they can stand up to the bully on the block and not be crushed."
Really? Tell that to Georgia.
Thank you Betsy, I apologize for the language.
You are sounding like a true socialist Richard up until you snuck in that "and money to direct the energy." I caught you . . .
I cannot contain my laughter when I hear a fellow peasant one missed mortgage payment away from homelessness say “well I don’t want to lose my private property.” I say brother unless you are Ted Turner or own half of Montana spare me.” But they still don’t get it! Their minds are already decided, since they have been programmed since infancy, so getting into any detail is a useless endeavor.
In a worldwide joint venture, money would be an anachronistic accouterment. One half of the tree is to build a house, and the other half they make money to use to buy the house with, they fashion their god with their very hands (well, machines actually). Sheesh, now it is just numbers appearing on a screen telling you your worth. They fear the mark of the beast yet it is on everybody’s forehead!
Yep. A senate of 7000, or maybe even just 700, with no president, representing 7 billion people, with a thoroughly transparent voting system, and governing system; every world citizen should be able to physically verify other peoples votes, just like we video chat occasionally here at intentlbog with seesmic. No money involved in the electoral process at all. But we know there are extremely rich and powerful people that will kill billions to not let this happen.
Just reading how McCain gets a hundred million dollars of taxpayer money for his campaign, and not that the democrats do not also; and this money is in addition to private donors. “Free” election, democracy, representative government: PLEASE . . .
Tis only an extended oligarchy.
are humans the dumbest species on earth? and i am not including resident patient multiple!
This article amuses me...the idea that Reagan should be credited for the dissolution of the Soviet Union reminds me of a Mark Twain story about the eclipse of the sun used to fool people into believing in the efficacy of a leader also. So Reagan had enough intelligence to know that the Soviet Union was crumbling within so his timing makes me him appear the cause of it. Thanks, Deepak, for mentioning that little tidbit.
The USA had lots of opportunities in the last half of the 20th century, and we made lots of mistakes.
The first was dependence on war to stimulate the economy.
The second was the dismantling of our strong manufacturing infrastructure.
The third was going from the world's most wealthy nation to the world's biggest debtor nation.
The fourth was allowing those who would plunder our country for personal gain to take control.
And the fifth was to dismantle the constitutional safeguards our forefathers put in place to insure a functioning democracy.
We are not that much different from empires before us, and will suffer the same dwindling down in influence that they eventually did.
There is a class of people that will not suffer the decline of America. They own the banks, the war machine, and the means of oil production. Even if America suffers a total economic collapse, they will still have their assets protected, and in fact will seem richer because the rest of us are poorer.
And they have made the purpose in life in America to feed them.
This is what Americans refuse to look at, because the truth is too painful.
The lies are so much more beautiful, we will cling to them in spite of the disaster they bring.
Never underestimate the power of a human being to make denialist rationalizations in order to keep in place the comfortable mechanisms that are killing them.
The analogy of the psychology of an addict is apt. America is displaying the collective behavior of an addict. We are willing to tolerate that which is destroying us, and cling to the rationalizations and beliefs that console us.
There are a lot of good, intelligent, smart people in America who know better, and are willing to apply their know how to make life successful for all Americans.
But on the national level, I don't think it is going to happen. The corruption is too deep, and it has metastasized. Now the process is to play the dying patient old video tapes from its past glory days.
But the replaying of those old stories is not going to revive the patient, just distract it from the pain, just enough to tolerate the dying process.
We can, of course, do better than that.
But from what I have seen so far, the issue is not that we can't.
It's that we won't.
And that is a much harder problem to solve.
I didn't know you published also your political thoughts. I think it's indispensable -and just about time- that politics (I mean public policies) be treated in connection to other personal and collective quests of life sense-making.
I recommend reading George Lakoff, especially his book called Moral Politics.

Hi Steve, yes, Georgia is on my mind and I am wondering what the heck their whinny President was thinking when he decided to launch missiles into the Russian held territory. Was he thinking the big bad bully wanted to play tic tac toe with missiles...was he led to believe that the other "bully" the Bush Admin. was going to have his back and therefore he was emboldened into his launch or did John McCain's foreign policy adviser.....advise for his employer....
yes, I have Georgia on my mind...Ge....or....gia, Ge...or...gia.....why, oh, why, did you do what you did to awaken that pesty bully, and, now, you come a crying....boohooohooo...really, I had not been aware of Georgian politics before last week but I must say I was not at all impressed with the whinning of their President, especially, after he launched the first missile.....
do not get me wrong...I sure wouldn't turn my back on Russia or China but I wouldn't throw a missile or two or treeee their way either, no matter what crazy friend egged me on to for political press headlines.
heck, after watching the Olympics and seeing how the "chinese gold medal" factories produce gold medal performances I can see why China will not be giving up their authoritative govenring any time soon.

Hello Deepak and Everyone,
Deepak you write, "The public still believes that Reagan toppled an evil empire, ignoring the blatant fact that the collapse of Communism was primarily caused by its own internal failings and dissension within the Warsaw Pact.)"
No, the public does not believe that mumbojumbo....it is only the die-hard republican that clings to this absurd Ronnie Reagan nonsense....the public...clearly remembers Ronnie and Nancy Reagan....and it is more with a touch of humor than anyting else...I mean, if he couldn't topple Nancy...and clearly...she was little of physical stature but she had it all over Ronnie....no Ronnie didn't topple anything, for sure....the public clearly remembers...
have a great day ruth
Deepak you write,..
"In addition, the neocons left the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to fester on its own, the first time since 1948 that the U.S. withdrew its good offices and refused to act as a peace broker despite the crying need for one. But 9/11, plus some canny maneuvering on the part of Ariel Sharon, forced the administration's hand, and a show of allying Israeli and American interests had to be resumed."
I think that the US withdrew it's good offices and refused to act as a peace broker BECAUSE of Yasir Arafat and the realization that he was playing the system to the detriment of his people's future. After 9/11 it was apparent that the use of homicide bombing, as Arafat's weapon of choice, was going to be his "real" broker in achieving his goals not the US or anyone else.
The realization by everyone was that Yasir Arafat had to go...and that the Palestinians needed to be awakened to that realization. Yasir Arafat leadership was a detriment to his people's future and he was fine with that, he wanted to play the peace-brokering system and he did, as well as Israelis did and do.
Your writings I must say have the familiar cry of the Palestinian plight by the Palestinian side, which is, always, if it were not for Israel and the US we would have, when, in reality, if it were not for the the fact that the Palestinians have had such bad leadership they would have. Since 1948 this has been their cry.
Frankly the peace brokering has done little but enable the canny manevering from both sides, not JUST the Israelis....
and, frankly, I am just feeling this now, by pointing out Sharon's canny maneuveryings without even a mention of Arafat's is a bit....one sided...to put it "nicely."....if, I remember, correctly, it was during Arafats last moments as leader that homicide bombings got hot and heavy inside Israel....and wasn't that after Arafat wouldn't sign a pretty decent peace accord? I would call that a canny maneuver wouldn't you and for sure worth a mention....when talking about brokering peace accords.....

Craig,
That is because I am not a communist, socialist, or capitalist.
I am a Universalist.
The aforementioned systems eventually create imbalance because of their inherent flaws. All of them allow a few to have a disproportionate advantage and to usurp wealth from others without making a genuine value contribution. They are plagued by ego impediment which stifles efficiency and evolution. All three can be used to disguise an oligarchy and create the appearance or illusion of a government for the people by the people.
Universalism is what some might label or describe a hybrid of the above systems. It is unique in that the systems design has engineered the ego impediments out of the system and allows for an integrated perspective, policy, and effort.
The source disconnected ego is like a plague and cancer in a social system especially when inadvertently given power. One of the primary features of the Universal System is that it helps to create a source connection.
The main disadvantage to the Universal System of Government is that it requires advanced technology and communications. This is why in planetary societal development the other systems arise first as part of the evolution and they often work fitting for the level of consciousness, much actually depends on the individuals empowered to run them. and assigned to represent the various interests. The effects of the flaws in these systems actually provide the impetus to evolve them into the universal system when the level of technology becomes advanced enough which it now has.
The Universal Government is really a bunch of independents working as one and doesn’t require party divisions although there can be group affiliations with specific intentions or specializing in special areas of focus.
One of the outstanding attributes of Universalism is that it does not maintain self dividing labels; the only labels that it uses are those that define relationships not those used to divide.
There are parties in this form of government, social gatherings for social intercourse.
More later….
Deepak,
In a whole system all the parts are honored and respected. For me that means that each one has a voice. How does that work politically? How does the global whole feed the local parts? And how do the parts give feedback to the whole? It is a two way flow of connectedness and relationship.
The first thing is for people to cool down, slow down and stop reacting to this and that. To integrate logic with emotion at a deeper level.
I think Obama is a leader in this direction. You too, Deepak. And all of us here on IntentBlog. No one chooses us to be leaders; we choose ourselves by example through word and action.
Trish~~

From the Infinite Play Thought Line..
The universe plays this game; it breaks itself up into pieces, just like we do with a puzzle and the pieces self assemble over time creating a complete picture, the picture of paradise. One of the prerequisites to self assembly is self realization. The puzzle pieces realize they are part of a big picture. If you are wondering why it does this, it is the same reason humans buy boxes of puzzle pieces and then assemble them together. It is simply something to do. Unlike the human hobby this puzzle is difficult because it does not include the final picture with the box, mostly because it is impossible to print a multidimensional picture in two dimensions. So the completed work comes as a surprise..
Since we are on the topic of how we view ourselves in the world, check out this 10-miniute TED talk by Chris Jordan, an artist whose work deals with the ramifications of decisions we make in everyday life. he calls his work an exploration of the effect of unconscious behavior at the level of mass culture.
http://tinyurl.com/56rqac
Very interesting.
He also talks about how we are changing, and how conscious (or not) even our changing behavior is.
From Infinite Game Play....
Your mission as a constituent is to vote in source connected ego and replace source disconnected ego.
How does one discern?
The source "disconnected" ego has a trunk full of beliefs and subscribes to many fictions; it tends to see itself as separate and competing with the world and therefore uses divisive labels. It tends to respond to the Illusions failing to see beyond the appearances and it supports the fictions and rewards those that help support them.
The source "connected" ego has few if any beliefs but speaks of knowing through direct experience, possibility and probability. It will not use divisive labels and it lives the truth. It tends to see itself as part of the world and collaborates with it. It tends to see the reality behind any illusions and responds to that and not the illusion.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lR33AyciWbc&feature=related
The winning candidate knows that every time they use a divisive label they cancel votes for their self. They know that by not using any divisive labels they retain or gain all votes.
The losing candidate engages in the use of divisive labels, which may have worked in a world dominated by ignorance and a successfully divided constituency if they played the numbers right, but in a world fresh with a new awareness it fails.

Deepak..I sincerely hope that you do not think Barack is anything but the other side of the same ole coin. This country needs to scrap the entire political system and start over. By the way the ugliness that you think of America or what the world thinks for that matter is simply called world politics. Personally I would rather have our butts covered by putting military bases in the Middle East!Barack-ie is not the savior!
Dear Richard,
After reading your commentary in Posting No. 20 I feel that you would find similar beliefs held and discussed by Michael Tsarion in his videos on Youtube.com. In particular, he discusses the dilemma of unresolved ego issues as major factors impacting society via those who rule. He speaks of the cycle of Chaos, Theocracy, Aristocracy, Democracy, Imperialism, and return of Chaos which was the philosophy of the Neopolitan scholar, Vico. This is a most revealing series of videos by Michael Tsarion.
The subjects I have just mentioned can be found on Youtube.com by searching (Michael Tsarion -"Origins of Evil", Part 12, and Part 13), although the whole series relates to these issues. I have found his insights most valuable and I think you would enjoy hearing his views.
Best Wishes,

Thanks Betsy. I will check it out. Chaos might be another term for Anarchy but the truth is order can naturally come out of chaos thanks to the observer. Most of what we talk about only exists in the minds of men, not in reality.
The way I see it we have.

Indeed Richard; good stuff.
Tsarion is quite an interesting character Betsy. 2012 - The Future of Mankind (3+ hours long whew!) Quite interesting . . .
pax vobiscum
Dear Empyrius,
So glad to hear that you are familiar with Tsarion. His background is quite impressive. There's a great interview with him at: MAYBE Quarterly - Vol.2/Issue 2 - Tsarion Interview.
His parents and grandparents are very respected spiritual teachers.
Best Wishes,
"Betsy" S.
I have watched this video of Michael Tsarion and this is what emerged in my mind.
This is an expression in words of what I have learnt during the past five years of my life through reading, experiencing, thinking and feeling that what happened in my life. And am talking to myself here, in the hope someone might catch a glimpse of understanding too:
One might still be bound, after watching this video, to let oneself getting manipulated if one believes the Atlantis story of Michael and then especially the so-called genetic manipulation by the alien 'Nephilim'.
I simply cannot believe this is true.
There has been a Big Bang that created the Universe. It is still the general believe in science.
After this occurrence, four forces originated that have orchestrated the evolution of everything: the gravitational force, electro-magnetic force, strong force and weak force.
That what caused the Big Bang can be experienced as an all encompassing force of ‘Unconditionality’ at the very core of everything. Perhaps it can also be called Spontaneity or free will or zero point field, or the Void.
In fact science has discovered a large Void in space last year and theories about it are already emerging:
http://space.newscientist.com/article/mg19626311.400-the-void-imprint-of-another-universe.html
This is our own free will that everyone possesses and that cannot in any way be taken away from someone. It is a natural given fact.
And we have a Natural Scheme of Things in nature that can also be called the cycle of birth, growth, decline, death and rebirth.
It is my believe then when one dies, there is a moment of ‘total recall’ and then one is reborn again, perhaps in the same situation one was in or in a totally different stage or on a totally different level.
To me it is all a matter of remembering. Everything has already happened.
It is silence - death
Thoughts - remembering, i.e. birth
Reality - growth
After Life - decline
Silence - death
Rebirth - thoughts again
And every time we let ourselves get entangled in this loop, we get disentangled again after we come full cycle.
But in this way we create the most weird but also wonderful situations in our lives.
We can only jump out of this cycle when we become truly aware of our own free will, which is always in alignment with the forces in the Universe when we surrender. We are alive, it is a wonder in itself.

Hello Group!... Question- Should a celebrity use their celebrity status to promote their politial agenda?
Specifically should an individual who proclaims to promote universial unity of consciousness use any forum to promote their political agenda? Should an individual of this type even have a political agenda and if so, why?

Who Really Won the Cold War?
by Mark Sumner
Daily Kos
Sun Aug 17, 2008
Remember the Cold War? First Tail-Gunner Joe ran all the dirty commies out of the United States, then Ronald Reagan built the Death Star and used it to blow up the Berlin Wall and we raised Old Glory above the Kremlin. And that's how America won the Cold War. I might have a few of the details wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's how it's being taught in all the schools these days.
The early decades of the Twentieth Century were to economic and political systems what the Burned-over District was for religion movements a century earlier -- an incredible period of fecundity and experimentation. The remaining decades of that century were spent in vigorous testing of these systems against each other. Which is a nice way of saying that millions upon millions of people died horribly.
In looking at the clash between states organized around communism and those based on capitalism the answer seems obvious. Capitalism won. Trounced them. Kicked their red asses, took their names, and sent them home with a hearty Nelsonian (Muntz, not Admiral) "Ha ha!"
It wasn't a sure thing. Capitalism is an ancient system, with roots that go back into deep prehistory and a reach that touches every pocket on the planet. But communism could also draw on all the varied places and times in which people had chosen to share their property in common. Their side of the struggle was definitely a minority position, but then it had only been a bit over a century since an upstart called Democracy made a comeback on the world stage, and that kid had done okay.
Communism was based around the idea of freedom. Shocking, I know, but then every form of government not centered on a genealogical chart puts freedom somewhere high on the menu. In the communist view, the biggest obstacle to freedom was the slavery imposed by economic and social inequality. Break that grip by giving everyone a fair share of the pie, and we'd all be free. Guys like Marx envisioned their system as clearing the deadwood of ineffective management from the pipeline, creating such abundance that workers would be able to chose how they wanted to contribute to the system. Spend the morning building cars, the afternoon writing novels, and take some law classes at night? Sure, comrade! And a different schedule tomorrow if you want.
Marx' position sounds Nice as that might sound on paper, it didn't work that way in the real world. Marx pictured his workers' paradise coming about in a series of stages, the first of which required a strong central state. What he never realized was that stage one would be, almost by definition, so royally screwed up and the people living under it so royally screwed over, that even Estragon and Vladimir would not have the patience to wait out the arrival of stage two.
With the hindsight of a century of authoritarian state excesses this looks obvious, but when Marx was writing the grinding, relentless capitalism that engulfed Europe and America was so ugly that anything seemed preferable. He was writing against a world that had not even a hint of a social safety net – quite the opposite. It was full of social razor blades, where one slip could cut to the bone. Child labor, employers who tricked their workers into accepted inflated company scrip, unregulated products filled with poison, and military force used to keep workers toiling in horrid conditions. In competition with communism, capitalism in Europe and America had to clean up its act. What we live with today in most of the western world is capitalism with many of its sharpest edges blunted. Thousands of workers died to wear down those edges.
People respond to incentives. With the worst aspects of capitalism softened, the vague (and ever receding) promises of communism turned out to be a miserable way to organize and motivate people when compared to the personal, immediate gain possible in capitalism.
And so communism tumbled and capitalism soared. The End.
Except... somewhere along the line, we had made a mental connection between capitalism and freedom. Anything good for one was seen as good for the other. We viewed liberty and greed as soul mates. Often enough, we couldn't tell one from the other, and in that confusion we ignored the other half of the struggle -- the one being waged by that still wet behind the ears idea, democracy. In short, we bought our own press.
There's absolutely no doubt that when it comes to economic systems, we signed on with the winner, and if you look at the sheer number of countries in the world that are at least nominally democracies, the victory of "one man one vote" also seems to be marching on. With communism licking it's wounds, democracies rushed in to fill the void. By 2005, 64% of all nations were democracies, up from 40% before Lech Walesa and the boys at Solidarity pointed out that the Soviet emperor's robes were looking awfully thin.
That sounds impressive, but something else was going on behind those raw numbers. When the Economist took a more detailed look, they found that only about 28 of the 165 countries they surveyed were functional democracies. Most of the world's countries fell into intermediate categories (both Russia and Georgia are listed as "hybrid" regimes -- with Russia getting a slightly higher democracy score). At the far end of the scale, there were twice as many authoritarian regimes in the list as there were full democracies.
If you looked at those authoritarian regimes and the other governments providing less than full democracy, all but a handful are capitalist. But they are authoritarian capitalist states. The "end of the Cold War" didn't represent a new birth of freedom, it represented the a new, more economically efficient form of dictatorship.
In some ways, we should be grateful that this combination didn't come along sooner. A Soviet empire fueled by a more competitive economy might well have had the resources to continue its invasion of Afghanistan and hold onto its fractious European territories. For the most part, the four decade standoff of enormous mechanized armies has vanished. What happened in Poland was real. What happened in Berlin was real. But we shouldn't pretend that we've seen anything resembling victory.
In 1984 the Doomsday Clock, a measure of the danger of catastrophic destruction maintained by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, stood at only three minutes from midnight. By 1991, the clock had been rolled back to 17 minutes short of the witching hour, the largest margin since the symbolic clock was created. Unfortunately, the optimism of that moment didn't last. The clock is back to just five minutes shy of destruction, representing a danger greater than at any time in the 1970s or 1960s.
In 1984, East Germany controlled 30% of the territory that now makes up Germany. In the face of this occupation, Germany was a staunch opponent of Soviet policies. In 2008, Russia supplies 40% of the natural gas that powers German factories and homes. That's great, but as a result, Germany tends to keep its mouth shut on Russian activities.
Through the 1970s, soldiers from communist countries worked to overthrow democratic nations in Africa. In 2008, wealthy authoritarian capitalist states are purchasing resources, access, and control in Africa. The new arrangement between China and the Democratic Republic of Congo, in which the former is providing enormous sums of money for exclusive access to copper from the later, is only one of many such deals. States that a dozen years ago were America's closest allies now favor Chinese firms and agencies who offer ready cash without the strings of requiring any silly human rights or ecological concerns. Child workers still die in African mines, but now those mines have Chinese owners.
Capitalism has never been more comfortable in its perch as the way that human beings exchange goods. Freedom has rarely been more threatened. This is a war the United States is losing, mostly because we're not bothering to fight. We've become slaves to a pernicious ideology that pretends, in the face of all evidence, that trade inevitably leads to freedom. Buy what they're selling, and democracy will follow. Any day now. Just you wait.
Even that pretense is little more than a coat of thin paint. The truth is, we've taken the freedom part of the equation completely off the table.
John McCain has declared that the conflict is in Georgia is the first international conflict of the post-Cold War. It's a laughably ignorant statement, but even when listing all the international conflicts that have taken place since then, the most telling is universally left from the list. The most important international event of the last twenty years happened while the Soviet Union still existed -- in name, at least -- and Russian troops were still trailing home from the disaster in Afghanistan. It happened right in the midst of where the Olympics are now being contested. It happened at Tiananmen Square.
The 1989 protests at Tianamen Square weren't an international incident in the sense of armies clashing on a field. It was much more important than that. In 1989, China was then still experimenting with how the "free market" and an authoritarian government could co-exist. They made their moves with one eye on the dancing students, and one eye on the western world. What they learned that spring was the truth about the west. They learned the capitalism has not just defeated communism, it had also defeated all the ideals of democracy. They learned that we would put up with anything, even the brutal killing of thousands of innocents, if it meant $50 VCRs and cheap socks at Walmart.
After World War II, American troops went to Japan to help put the wounded economy on its feet. The Japanese learned those lessons so well, that within two decades Americans were traveling to Japan to study their success.
After the Cold War, China, Russia, and other authoritarian states learned a different lesson. They learned that the west's vaunted concern for human rights would always play second fiddle to making a dollar. And within two decades, those nations were far more powerful than they had ever been during the days of green uniforms and shoes on the UN podium.
For the first eleven millennia of human civilization, capitalism and democracy were only rarely and loosely coupled. There's no reason it should be otherwise. In an unregulated market child labor, environmental destruction, government corruption, and ideological rigidity often provide an advantage. Capitalism can serve an authoritarian state as well as a democratic one -- perhaps better.
Capitalism is as indifferent to freedom as a whale is to the lives of plankton on which it feeds. If we continue in the pretense that the market in and of itself favors democracy, we'll be witness to the end of the experiment that began a bit over two centuries ago in Philadelphia. The market won't mind -- it's seen democracies rise before. If we don't unbuckle our concern for human rights from our concern from corporate profits, it will surely see this one fall.

Hey Paulisoso
It doesn't matter if they should.
They do.
derek
morning all,
paulisoso asks, "Specifically should an individual who proclaims to promote universial unity of consciousness use any forum to promote their political agenda? Should an individual of this type even have a political agenda and if so, why?"
Of course, they should, this individual, is a citizen of a Nation and has a right if not an obligation to participate in the election process of their Nation's leaders and this does not in any way take from the promotion of unity consciousness, and, furthermore, say, my choosing to be more liberal in politics and wanting a leader to reflect my liberal politics does not mean I cannot also promote unity consciousness....
A person such as Deepak Chopra has every right to participate in his Nation's election, and political process and share his views about it, vote for the person who most reflects his views and it does not take away from his views of or promotion of unity consciousness.
have a great sunday.....ruth
"my choosing to be more liberal in politics and wanting a leader to reflect my liberal politics does not mean I cannot also promote unity consciousness...." Ruth
Actually that reinforces your core ideals.
Obviously, christian conservatives tend to be political conservatives and tend to support the GOP, while spiritual progressives are political progressives/liberals and tend to support better Democratic candidates.
It should be no surprise that Deepak Chopra and most people in the New Age movement support the more progressive candidate in Obama.

Ruth~Greetings!
Thank you for your reply.
We all know that one person can influence the many given a forum and an agenda, for good or bad( which is relative and a matter of perception).
RUTH- "A person such as Deepak Chopra has every right to participate in his Nation's election, and political process and share his views about it, vote for the person who most reflects his views and it does not take away from his views of or promotion of unity consciousness."
I agree with this statement but also feel it should be more of a private matter with those who have unlimited access to large audiances(especially so if they may happen to be wrong). People tend to be led astray quite easily. If the dropping a camel's hair can be heard throughout the universe, then we need to be very mindful of where that hair falls.
We all know that act of being political and politics are fraught with numerous inequalities in and of itself , like religion it is a divisive movement.
Likewise one cannot promoto unity and promote divisiveness at the same time.
Much compassion- paulisoso
say, my choosing to be more liberal in politics and wanting a leader to reflect my liberal politics does not mean I cannot also promote unity consciousness....
Ruth
Also I just have to ask, exactly what unity consciousness would you be promoting? Would it be the ego based liberal consciousness only? Let's say If I were of a different bent, let's say my liberal beliefs included beastuallity or promoted adults having sex with small children and I promoted these beliefs on an open forum which reached thousands of people, would I then be included in your "unity" consciousness?
Dear Paulisoso
I don't know that it's a matter of should or should not. Why? Because if that celebrity is using the formidable glamour of his/her position for self aggrandizment or other non-integrous reasons, then that position will fall of its own accord. Or, rise if it comes from a position of principle. It doesn't need any help from our own judgements made from our own arbitrary position.
Compassion, love, peace.

Hello Derek,
Sad but true. Maybe this is why nothing ever changes but the faces and the names. I would tend to believe that most celebrities are motivated by the status quo which is ego and the making of the almighty buck. Please don't get me wrong I am not pointing a finger in any direction. I happen to like Deepak and I have bought all of his books and tapes, even his novels which are a poor attempt at writing for the entertainment of the reader for sure.( with the exception of "The Way Of The Wizard"). Additionally I thought this blog's intent was to expand one's level of conscious awareness. I did not know it was to be used for a political forum for any one (or more )person's political agenda. There are many other sites for that.
Bonnie ...I agree.

No and that is what makes me wonder about what the complete "truth" of the matter is. I mean after all I assume this is the one thing all of us would agree we want and deserve. I am not sure one can be a sage and a political activist. I wonder what Sri Sri Ravi Shankar must think?
Re. 50
Ghandi was a practical political pacifist.
He was hardly a sage.

What is termed "the quest" can be formulated also as "the ultimate anticipation" against the inevitable course of events: old age, losses, suffering, death. Supposedly, politics-proper also deal with anticipation, to prevent otherwise unavoidable calamities. No need to mention resource depletion (oil, potable water, fertile soil etc. etc.) is it? So the link between "the quest" and politics (proper) is rather obvious.

Maybe the late king Janaka left a few practical tips ;-)

'A sage...anyone who is generally considered "enlightened".'

VERY subjective. Many credit Gandhiji and the current Dalai Lama as "enlightened" (albeit also very political) beings, and even if Jesus' followers didn't consider him political, the Romans and Temple priests sure did. I suspect that The Buddha and Adi Shankaracharya also had political clout in their day, whether they deliberately sought or wielded it being another matter.
Realized beings have to exist in a world in which things like economics and politics matter, and either they must give "a hoot" or have someone "hoot" on their behalf. Even Jesus is reported to have advised that one "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's," which imo amounts to "a hoot."
Has anyone heard of a politician who gave a hoot about Sages?
hi there paulisoso
i took a stab at giving you my answer to your question because I thought it was a serious question and by your reply I see you are just being oh, what, is the word....silly, yes, that is good....
but, if you really do have questions about an enlightened person being interested in and participating in his Nation's political process even though it might seem contrary to their promoting unity consciousness then I would say that is a wonderful question for you to ponder and find your own answer by using a more subtle inner discrimination....good luck with your ponderings....ruth

Thanks to all who took the time to respond.
Ruth,
It was a serious question on my part. I had already sought the answer within myself before I put the question out on this blog.
However as I say I do appreciate the input from all. I am sorry I did not find your answer that helpful, maybe you could search within also rather than going to your usual source of "hats and rabbits" only.

However Jesus did not say "I think Caesar Is the man for the job, let's all vote for him, after all he is the progressive!"
Nowhere in Scripture does it say Jesus paid taxes!
In fact, he held money with such contemn that he actually paid the temple tax with a coin from a fishes mouth.
Give unto Caesar what is Caesar's indeed.
With "faith-based" initiatives we tithe whether we want to or not.
Capitalism?!? When even churches are on the dole in addition to the corporate/military/politician CEOs? The ones who don’t even need money get more . . .
Yeah
"Has anyone ever heard of a sage who gave a hoot about politics?"
"Has anyone heard of a politician who gave a hoot about Sages?"
Who was Gandhi - a sage or a politician?
A politician or a sage or a sage politician?
...
Many of the prominent Indian politicians visited Ramana Maharishi and asked him about India's independence - a question, which Ramana didn't answer.
In USA too, president pays lot of attention to the Pope - now, you might say the pope is not a "sage" but, USA likes to be a Christian country and not a spiritual one.
There is an advantage of reading and commenting on Buddha, Jesus, Krishna, Mohammad, Ramana, Osho, Tolle, Chopra...
You can get INSTANT recognition!
You can talk about them in a club on a stage and many people CAN instantly recognize, relate and understand it. They can laugh about it.
Writing about Jesus, Mohammad...
If you really write well and are interested...
You might even get a Book Published! More people can read you and even you might Benefit!

Here are some examples from late George Carlin one of the All Time Comedy Great:
[You might have already read his book:
"When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops?"]
I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.
...
When it comes to bullshit, big-time, major league bullshit, you have to stand in awe of the all-time champion of false promises and exaggerated claims, religion. No contest. No contest. Religion. Religion easily has the greatest bullshit story ever told. Think about it. Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time!
But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can't handle money! Religion takes in billions of dollars, they pay no taxes, and they always need a little more. Now, you talk about a good bullshit story. Holy Shit!
But I want you to know something, this is sincere, I want you to know, when it comes to believing in God, I really tried. I really, really tried. I tried to believe that there is a God, who created each of us in His own image and likeness, loves us very much, and keeps a close eye on things. I really tried to believe that, but I gotta tell you, the longer you live, the more you look around, the more you realize, something is fucked up.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed. Results like these do not belong on the résumé of a Supreme Being. This is the kind of shit you'd expect from an office temp with a bad attitude. And just between you and me, in any decently-run universe, this guy would've been out on his all-powerful ass a long time ago. And by the way, I say "this guy", because I firmly believe, looking at these results, that if there is a God, it has to be a man.
No woman could or would ever fuck things up like this. So, if there is a God, I think most reasonable people might agree that he's at least incompetent, and maybe, just maybe, doesn't give a shit. Doesn't give a shit, which I admire in a person, and which would explain a lot of these bad results.
So rather than be just another mindless religious robot, mindlessly and aimlessly and blindly believing that all of this is in the hands of some spooky incompetent father figure who doesn't give a shit, I decided to look around for something else to worship. Something I could really count on.
And immediately, I thought of the sun. Happened like that. Overnight I became a sun-worshipper. Well, not overnight, you can't see the sun at night. But first thing the next morning, I became a sun-worshipper. Several reasons. First of all, I can see the sun, okay? Unlike some other gods I could mention, I can actually see the sun. I'm big on that. If I can see something, I don't know, it kind of helps the credibility along, you know? So everyday I can see the sun, as it gives me everything I need; heat, light, food, flowers in the park, reflections on the lake, an occasional skin cancer, but hey. At least there are no crucifixions, and we're not setting people on fire simply because they don't agree with us.
....
Thank you Mani....You have hit it right on! I never post to any of these...but this time could not help my self. Normaly I would side with Empyrius for a few reasons...but not this time!
Unless I can actually see....or have proof....God is a figment of the imagination!
Creation is magnificent, whether you tie it to a Diety or not. It just is.
Humankind has grown in leaps and bounds over thousands of years.
Whose to say it is because of a Divine Being, Guiding Energy, or just biology or intelligence expresssing itself, in a progressive manner ( oh I know, many try - many do, and claim their way/creed/mandate is the only one true way ... and on and on )
Many try to explain this universe ...
How about just experiencing where you find yourself, here and now ...
and be the best you can Be.
Celebrate and explore the depths of oceans, the far reaches of space, and the inner place we call ourselves.
No diety to fall back, no creeds to live by, just
Being true to yourself. And living by the golden rule.
Is that possible
or just an illusion
that refuses to die,

"No diety to fall back, no creeds to live by, just
Being true to yourself. And living by the golden rule", this is Your Truth.
Because..... Every Body and Mind is a universe in itself, a microcosmos reflecting the macrocosmos.
And we all share our personal feelings and thoughts about this, having all a tiny bit of that same truth within ourselves.

And I just realized that I got myself entangled again :)
Ah well, this IB is a beautiful illusion too isn't it?

A teacher in Elmira , New York asked her 6th grade class how many of them were Obama fans.
Not really knowing what an Obama fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands except for Little Johnny.
The teacher asked Little Johnny why he had decided to be different...again.
Little Johnny said, 'Because I'm not an Obama fan.'
The teacher asked, 'Why aren't you an Obama fan?'
Johnny said, 'Because I'm a Republican.'
The teacher asked him why he's a Republican.
Little Johnny answered, 'Well, my Mom's a Republican and my Dad's a Republican, so I'm a Republican.'
Annoyed by this answer, the teacher asked, 'If your mom was a moron and your dad was an idiot, what would that make you?'
With a big smile, Little Johnny replied, 'That would make me an Obama fan.'

Skinny... funny joke, liked it very much.
However, it is all a matter of perception if one might find it funny or not. I am sure people who like and will vote for Obama will not find it that funny. So to be non-bais and fair they should be allowed to insert any name they wish.Don't you think?

I knew a riversylph once.
Slender, graceful, fiery red-hair, and a body full of freckles; after making love I would wrap my arms around her and hold her tightly against me, literally using my body to say, "I will never let you go."
Puppies licking face and toes (and whatever else is exposed: WATCH IT!).

Dear Mieke,
Since I have been led to much valuable information regarding the wisdom of the ancient cultures and how their way of viewing nature and man's place within the grand scheme was based upon the wisdom of the heart (symbolique), it is my desire to share this information. As mankind has "devolved", his way of interpreting the world has taken on a separatist approach and he has divorced himself from the natural world, thereby creating great imbalances. There is a grand storehouse of esoteric wisdom which has been preserved and represented in a hidden language of symbolism.
Since I know that you are very dedicated to the Labyrinth and its use as a spiritual vehicle I would like to refer you to a book entitled, "Cracking the Symbol Code" by Tim Wallace-Murphy. This book reveals much of the Secret Hermetical Messages Within Church and Renaissance Art. Chapter 11 is called, The Mystical Interior of Chartres Cathedral. There is a large Labyrinth found there and its purpose is well explained.
The book is by Watkins Publishing, U.K. (2005).

Hi "Betsy",
Thank you so much for your valuable information. It is always great to read about Chartres Cathedral.
In fact I have visited the Cathedral in 2006 and walked (and even danced) the labyrinth there :)
You can read about my experience at my website:
http://www.heartphone.org/chartresenglish.htm
I also read a book called "Chartres, the Cathedral" written by Michael Ladwein, who also goes in depth into the symbolic value of all messages and art in the Cathedral.
And Celtic history is very connected with this too.
I have had a number of other experiences with the Labyrinth already, all of which you can read at my website if you are interested.
I used to make lots of 3D mazegames on my computer in the past, but after having found out about the labyrinth, i now thoroughly know the difference between the two.
http://www.heartphone.org/about_mazes_and_labyrinths.htm
I have read esoteric books from the moment I had my first experience of Oneness when I was 34.
I have translated Harbhajan Singh's book "Self Designed Universe" into the Dutch language.
When I read about this book for the first time on his website selfdesigneduniverse.com, it was an immediate recognition that the contents of his book and the labyrinth had everything in common.
One might call his book the Science of the Labyrinth, the Path of Life.
My website goes about the Feeling and Experience of the Labyrinth, the Path of Life.
Best wishes to you from
Mieke
Deepak,
Over the years I have read your blogs and never posted. I have always wanted to, but never felt that I should for a number of reasons. But at this point I feel I must for several reasons. Your commentary, in my opinion, is provincial and radical. It contradicts spiritual as well as sound philosophical edicts. It also contradicts reality and proven economic theory.
Some points to consider, in desultory order, and not necessary in reference to this blog alone):
You aver that Barack is inspirational (and I agree). But how is McCain not? Half a decade in a prisoner camp? Barack's inspiration is his message along with being the first black man to be close to becoming President. McCain’s is the inspiration based on courage and sacrifice.
I am also amazed at how unfair they are towards President George W. Bush. Regarding his motives, his acumen as well as his smile. His smile? This one really took me by surprise. True, Bush has stayed the course, and right now that is panning out. Criticize the man's strategies, indeed, even his political ideologies, but to assert from a distance some sort of psychological pathology is dangerous and irresponsible. They are ad hominin attacks that have nothing to do with his policies. It creates hatred in your followers – I know many of them who have ended friendships with me because I simply said “I like George Bush.”
The Neo-Con's may turn out to be wrong, but you are declaring their cause dead before the war is even over. And none of the so called "peace treaties" has done a damn thing to change the Middle East. War is not a monolithic evil - after all, it ended slavery, Nazism, Japanese militarism, fascism, and hopefully it will end Islamic terrorism. In fact, the war is being won as I write this. It may, of course, still end up being lost, but if Iraq becomes a democracy will you apologize for your pre-mature burial of an ideology? Or will you, as you always seem to do, attribute the success of conservative ideologies to some other cause. For instance, to say that Reagan was not largely responsible for the fall of the former Soviet Union is inaccurate on nearly every front. It sounds like Chomsky's talking points. Why did Russian crumble internally?
Also, in my opinion, it would be wise to tell your followers, The United States IS superior to the Middle East - culturally (our treatment of women, minorities, etc) and economically (GDP, quality of life, etc) and intellectually (number of patents, number of books, free exchange of ideas, etc.). Giving to the Middle East what we take for granted in the West could be seen as a duty.
You say, America not a friendly super power? History is not on your side. America has been the most benign superpower in history - do you really think that the USSR, if the US would have lost the cold war, would have been so delicate in worldly affairs? Or how about China? The fact is when you compare the United States to some Platonic ideal of the State of course we look horrible.
You are angry because the US went into Iraq unilaterally with little justification. Actually, the US Congress listed nearly 20 reasons for the war, and merely stressed the WMD threat – a threat, by the way, that was corroborated by foreign intelligence agencies. And just recently, 1 million pounds of yellow cake was found in Iraq. Further, the United States is allowed to act unilaterally, it has autonomy. It does not have to wait for UN to approve. The first Bush waited for a UN resolution to get Saddam out of Kuwait and Saddam wreaked havoc in the mean time. The current President knew this, and decided not to wait. The UN is utterly ineffectual when it comes to world problems, and I, for one, would rather have President Bush protecting us rather than a crooked UN.
The United States will not fall unless radical liberal ideologies continue to perpetuate. They are just as dangerous, if not more dangerous, as the far right. (Why is it “far right” to consider abortion a sin? Or believe that marriage is just between a man and a woman? – by the way, I am okay with abortion in the first trimester and am okay with gay marriage, but I totally respect the opposition on both sides. Why would a President who believes these things be considered by you to be “hijacked” by the far right religious people?).
On a brief aside, the Housing Market crash was the result of lenders having to lend to people of low qualifications or face the threat of litigation. That is the main reason the US economy is faltering.
Why not be truthful about Islam? It has been violent since its inception and has oppressed women. And, I urge you, to try to defend Islam without grouping it with the errors of Christianity. Every place in the Bible that was once Christian is not Islamic, and it is not that Christian’s converted to Islam at the strength of their argument about Islamic faith. Christianity is attacked by many liberals without context, but Islam is always placed side by side Christianity to make some sort of moral equivalence. Nearly every hot spot of violence in the world has one common denominator – it involves Muslim countries. Yet, your rancor falls on the shoulders of the United States. Why is that?
I could go on and on. And I apologize for the “rant.” I hope I am treated with respect on this blog, but I have found that spiritual circles are really just as brutal as far right circles. So I do not expect too much.
I am a spiritual man, would not hurt a bug. Literally. But I understand this war, President Bush, and others. I also understand legitimate concerns about his strategy and the idealistic naiveté of starting a democracy in the barbaric Middle East. These are spiritual, philosophical and political grounds to go after conservatives and neo-cons.
I am spiritual and I love the United States. I believe, based on facts, that we are the greatest country to ever exist. This country has given you millions of dollars and followers. And sadly, in my opinion, it has given you a 1960s radical mentality. Good came out of the 1960s, oh yes, but so did some amount of political idiocy.
Deepak, thank you for your books, and I encourage you to give an accurate portrayal of left and right. People on the right are not evil or ignorant or deluded. A man can be a spiritual conservative. I attempted to be respectful, and not let my emotions get involved. Hopefully, you respect my point of view.
Sincerely,
Dillon
Dear Mieke,
Thank you so much for showing me how to access your site on your trip to Chartres Cathedral. I find it to be quite beautiful. It is interesting to hear about how you felt the energy there. Your pictures are lovely. I envy you in being able to experience firsthand the beauty at Chartres.
Tim Wallace-Murphy explains much about why such energy is felt there and why the underground water systems are power centers which were purposely utilized by the ancients. He also explains how the alchemy utilized in the design and construction of the colored windows was intended to have specific psychological effects. I believe you will find "Cracking the Symbol Code" quite fascinating.
Again, I appreciate your information very much.
Best Wishes,
"Betsy" S.
You are very welcome "Betsy" :),
I have already read and learnt so much from the English Geomancers (dowsers) too, who can find the best places to build labyrinths in Nature by using a modern version of the dowsing (divining) rod. Lei lines under the ground seem to be connected everywhere in the world.
The Cathedral of Chartres was built on a certain crossing of lei lines too :)
With a good female friend of mine, we have built a Labyrinth of stones, making use of a divining rod too and if you saw how it "knocked out" as if it wanted to tell us: "very good spot" :), this was truly amazing. I still do not know where I got this strength to walk and carry such large stones to build it all.
My female friend was with me there in Chartres and she had this divining rod with her also. We stood in the central choir before the Madonna going to Heaven and the rod told us that there was some strong energy there.
We all did a Yoga exercise there, and were filled with that energy. It was not a surprise that the Celtic Madonna was just underneath that spot in the crypt.
Am at the moment reading a very good book from a Dutch writer about an ancient civilization in Italy.
I believe you might like the story hereunder too :):
It is about an ancient Etruscan civilization in the region of Tuscan, thousands of years back, where a matriarchal society and also a labyrinthine culture have left their marks in many, many ways.
Gradually the landscape reveals itself as one big temple, dedicated to the sacred marriage between heaven and earth.
Wells, caves, water temples, old altars, hollow roads, underground corridors, stone circles and remains of old labyrinths are the silent witnesses from long vanished times, in which the earth was worshipped as the mother Goddess.
In the book one learns to understand the symbolic language of the country. Age old myths come to life. The story moves between many different levels of history, from the Neolithic times up to Christianity.
It seems that the doubly fluked mermaid did not only perform an important part with the Etruscan people, but also with the Longobards (Lombards) and the Merovingiens. Even Mary Magdalene is imagined as a mermaid…..
It is an intriguing cultural-historic and spiritual detective.
To me it comes at the exact time in my life to learn more about the history of the labyrinth and about the Goddess.
Written by Selma Sevenhuijsen, who also has a website about labyrinths in the Dutch and English language: http://www.labyrintwerk.nl/english/
Reading about all those cultures and how one culture after the other progressed, taking wisdom from the previous one and adding its own wisdom to it, it is so interesting :)
And finally the Goddess comes to life more and more all over the world!
Love,
Mieke
Oh and “Betsy”, for your information: Reverend Lauren Artress organizes trips to Chartres Cathedral every year. She lives in San Francisco and has built a replica of Chartres labyrinth in or in front of her cathedral there. You can find all information at:

Another very good website in your country about labyrinths:

Dear Mieke,
Again, thank you. I found it very interesting that you mentioned that in your study of symbolism you had seen Mary Magdalene represented as a Mermaid. The symbolism of half man/half fish and half woman/half fish goes way back. In the bas reliefs of ancient Babylon, EA was called the great light (or "illumined one"). As half fish, he is depicted as riding the waves of the Cosmic Ocean (Cosmic Mind or Universal Consciousness). The half fish/half human represented Wise Teachers or Illumined Beings.
The ancients had a method or Initiation Process for transforming the human on a mental/emotional/spiritual and physical level so that he/she could put on the cloak of "Illumination" and "Mastery".
I have also read that Jesus was not only a supreme Master of these mysteries but, He had come to restore the awareness of the Goddess Energy (compassion and intuition) to mankind. The awareness of this energy had been totally overridden by its opposite which had been perverted by way of its use to control and abuse through its proclivities towards power, strength and control.
Best Wishes,
"Betsy" S.
Thank you Betsy,
There is still so much to learn and to discover to keep oneself balanced :)
I do believe the Christ or Buddha consciousness is already very strongly present.
It is in the Scheme of Things, one step at a time, one person at a time.
Peace,
Mieke
"Betsy",
I googled EA and ancient Babylon and found a good website to read that has a Dutch mirror site too.

This is a very informative site!

Dear Mieke,
Fantastic! Very glad to get more information on Babylonian culture. When you become immersed in the study of ancient symbols you find that there are many common bonds amongst the ancient cultures and the mystery schools of higher wisdom.
Very Best Wishes as Always,
"Betsy" S
Dear Mieke,
Fantastic! So glad to find another source of information about the Babylonian culture. When one becomes immersed in the study of symbolism - it becomes evident how many ancient cultures were linked by a common language of symbolism and how they shared a common knowledge of the Creator's Laws and their place within the Grand Order.
I first became introduced to the language of symbols in my study of the ancient Egyptians. If you ever find time to research the extensive knowledge they had of cosmic laws, sacred geometry, mathematics, astronomy, and man's place within the whole plan as the ultimate expression of these laws - I have a most extraordinary book to tell you about. It is "The Temple of Man" by Rene Schwaller de Lubicz. He explains how through the symbols used in their mythology they explained "The Intelligence of the Heart" which was their unique way of viewing creation. He explains the connectedness of ancient Egyptian philosophy, spirituality, mathematics and science.
"The Temple of Man" is considered by many to be the most important book of the twentieth century. It requires considerable concentration because it requires studying the laws of mathematics and sacred geometry constituting the Temple of Luxor. Schwaller de Lubicz spent fifteen years in Egypt while studying the Temple of Luxor. He was an archeologist, philosopher, and mathematician.
Best Wishes as Always,
"Betsy" S.

Dillon... Thank you so much for taking the time to share. I enjoyed your read. You expressed beautifully what I was wondering myself. As I say previously, I own and have listened to or read all of Deepak's books, tapes and CD's and have enjoyed them and feel I have gained some wonderful insights throughout the years. I have even suffered through his poor attempts at novel writing. I signed onto this blog hoping for additional spiritual insight. I believed from reading the blog's intent that would be the case. However I have been dissapointed when it comes to Deepak's post. Most all seem to be quite political in nature and I do think I detect a certain undercurrent of hostility toward the United States, for the life of me I cannot imagine why.
Don't get me wrong everyone is entitled to their political or spiritual bent, but if you scoll up you will see previous post between me and others with regard to this same subject. Anyway thank you again for taking the time.

So sorry for all those consecutive posts, one should not try to do two things at once. One of them must always become less important than the other.

Hi there paulisoso,
If you go to IB contributers and click on Deepak Chopra, you will find (among his 451 posts so far) many articles relating to spirituality.
It's nice to read your comments, I hope you stay around and write more!

Paulisoso,
We are in agreement. I love all of Deepak's books, but his political ideology is very, very far left. It is not center, nor even left of center. It sounds like the Huffington Post and Michael Moore. I agree that Deepak has every right to express his political bent, but I have a right to disagree. I read the Bhagavad-Gita, Yoga Sutras, Wayner Dyer books, Deepak Books, the New Testament, etc etc... and I will probably vote for McCain. My spiritual friends look at me as if I grew a second head when I tell them my political views - they don't even let me explain why I think my views are "more spiritual" than liberal views. There is no conversation.
Thanks Paulisoso, maybe we can broaden the intent of this blog site, and keep it civil. Have a real, honest debate.

Dear "Betsy" #87,
Thank you for recommending this book to me. I have now found two websites with a review on both books you have mentioned, the other one about Cracking the Code and am certainly going to read both.
In the meantime I found a third book that seems very interesting to me: "Baudolino" by Umberto Eco:

Within a month it is my birthday and I know now what to ask :)
Thanks and all the best to you in your "vision quest", the Heroine's Journey :)

Lately, I've gotten the feeling that Obama might not win. That politics may be where dreams go to die.
I had a dream last night:
As I was walking through the grand old hallway of an old Victorian building that had since been broken up into apartments, people had further begun constructing 2x4 dwellings in the hallway, maybe nothing bigger than to provide privacy while they slept. They were makeshift, all different shapes and sizes, but functional. I recall in my dream admiring the dexterity and toughness of the people--young and old--that were fashioning these little encasements for privacy and safety.
I might not have given that dream a second thought were it not for a second dream I had later in the night: I was driving through a city. Suddenly as we turned, I found myself gazing at buildings that were around 20 stories high, and as high as they were, actually longer--some three blocks long. Obviously a public housing project, they were modern, looming, squat, plastic, colorful, but empty. Windows blown out, it was instantly obvious that because of their size, these would be very frightening and dangerous buildings to live in. I guessed that they were unfinished either because people found that they couldn't live safely among each other in them or because of some structural defect that rendered them useless.
This morning I contemplated the dreams, and it occurred to me that Obama may lose because his is actually the old brand of politics, the Rooseveltean politics that said that we were in this together as a nation and together could solve the problems with which we were confronted.
But I wonder if globalization has destroyed that and we're just feeling nostalgic about "the way things were."
I think my dream showed that we are too many and varied to pull together. The sheer sum of us is too much.
Perhaps we're entering an era where government (the system) can no longer function, and those who represent it--politicians--already know that?
I could be wrong, but these are just some thoughts that have glanced my mind.
The fact is, there was never any government. There was just a lending instrument, and We the People could borrow as much as we wanted as long as we could pay it back.
Can we?
Hi danashields,
Obama would say: "Yes we can" :)
I have another vision:
Since I am on a vision quest lately, uniting a lot of symbols that have been used by different ancient societies and using my super conscious super power labyrinth :), I might as well share my present vision with you and all that have commented here:
It is going to be a long story but perhaps worth a read:
What are the symbols of today's global society?
1. The almighty money coin symbol, no matter what currency it is expressed in;
2. The individuality symbol that has not yet reached its maturity. For that it has to represent both sides of the coin man/woman having a sacred marriage within themselves, just like heaven and earth.
3. The unbalance symbol caused by too much male dominant energy and too little female energy, hence resulting in the inability to live totally in our double stranded DNA helix or Kundalini energy.
What would happen if no one would have to vote for any government anymore?; would that mean total anarchy, total chaos?; or, would that really start something new?
This is my vision:
And suddenly that day arrived, like a thief in the night. In one flash the world changed into the most beautiful planet that had ever existed.
People on it lived in peace, no more fighting about power or money.
The earth in her abundance provides everyone with exactly that what one needs.
How to achieve just that?; by living it. This is the Kingdom of heaven that is already inside. Just project your inner being to the outside and it radiates directly back what you project.
It is as simple as that and if everyone was aware of that simple fact, it was already here.
By radiating this vision one already lives in a heaven on earth.
Dare to project your dreams! Just dare to do it!
And everything is alright and everything is exactly as it should be: a paradise on earth.
If one does a favour to another one, doesn’t matter what, then another day one receives a favour from someone else or from that same person. Main thing is a society without expectations but always sincere intentions. It always pays back in one way or another.
And so slowly but surely the “Favour Society” arose, without expectations but with sincere intentions.
Well, what a dream! A really true Heroine’s journey :). And this has been my truth already for almost 30 years. I acted like the above while being a mother, a wife and a housewife; while being a member of a 3D computer club, while being a member of this community here and step by step I receive everything back what I have radiated into it.
I have a vision and am still going into the direction of that vision:
“What you radiate you receive back”
This is called the sacred marriage between heaven and earth.

Paulisoso,
We are in agreement. I love
Tis almost poetic Dr. Chopra.
The age of Anglo domination is passing, but there will be a fight; they have still many brown, black, and southern trash brainwashed slaves. But leviathan shall assuredly fall!
Israel ascendent. Russia hath repented. China owns our ass. History working through God, our destiny was written long ago, and we were even given a choice to change it; and yet the story remains the same.
The promise of Armageddon is just a fable that allows the rich man to simply keep getting richer. The rich mans' law-makers have armed thugs at every federal, state, and local store; and their military bases are ensconced in many places far and wide;
waiting.
Yet the only enemy Americans see are middle-eastern “terrorists,” tomorrow maybe Russia again, China after that; but then again, the enemy was manufactured long ago, every time children stood up to pledge allegiance to a flag . . .
I shoulda been a money-maker, “I coulda been a contenda,” instead I am just a slave, long hair receiving contempt from even the city-employed road workers. Funny.
But not really.
For every Bukowski there are a hundred thousand homeless drunks (meth-heads, retardos, unlucky, and so on), the number the state, DOC that is, gave me is 913666.
Ironically funny.
But not really.
Now it is even illegal for us homeless (or quite soon to be), to sleep on park benches, after all we wouldn't want the community seeing such disgrace.
We are going to throw you back in jail for not paying your court costs and fees;
“Get a construction job boy digging out ditches . . .,” “daily work daily pay . . .”.
Fuck you “your honor.”
