9/11 A Moment of Silence

Mallika Chopra - September 11, 2008

I was just watching a report about the children of the victims on 9/11 reading the names of those who died on that terrible day. I was so impressed that they were so poignant - a boy who looked about 8 years old, saying that even though my father is gone, he is ever present with me.

I remember my own emotions that day....CONTINUE READING

Years ago when I began teaching English, one of my lessons was how to make a book review. A student taught me then something I never forgot when she reviewed a book on the subject of Hiroshima. Americans too often forget what happened to Japan in August of the 40's, 46, I guess it was, and seldom think about the Japanese who lost their lives then as they were considered the ENEMY. It is always fair to kill an enemy.

So for me, today is a day that probably should remind us of the past as well as what brought about this tragedy into our lives. Apparently, this time Americans were considered the ENEMY to the adversary who brought this upon us, and we are now having to understand what Japan had to learn so many years ago, how to forgive and to forget and do better in our lives.

What goes around comes around!

Yes, indeed, arizonasunset, Hiroshima doesn't bear thinking about.......awful, even to have survived.

Hiroshima caused horrific sufferings for innocent civilians. But the fact of the matter is that Japan, at the time, also caused great sufferings for innocent civilians in their quest for power and if they had access to the bomb there is no doubt that they would have used it to gain more power.....such is the greed for power by our governments.

9/11 is the day many people left for work and never came home, and, where, many people, courageously faced their imminent death by calling their loved ones to say, I Love you for the last time, and, it is about the family members who waited days hoping beyond hope that somehow their loved ones had survived...9/11 is about family, love, loss and grief....

how many of us were glued to our TVs hoping beyond hope...with them...that is what I remember about 9/11.

the politics of it mean nothing to me, really.

"Today, we honor the memory of the lives that were lost on September 11, 2001, ……"

I cried and cried for days ... could not stop.

Three months later my father shot himself execution style and left a suicide note written on his TV Guide that said he was in great pain, but they would never release the note to us.

I then continued crying for many more years, every night .... I think I stopped crying after 5 years.

Char
I am so sorry to hear about your father.
Mallika

yesk, Char, my sympathies for your father. I understand more fully than you can imagine. Pain is a very strong reason for anyone to want to terminate their life, and you must simply trust in the wisdom of God to fully realize that your father did what he thought best at the time. May you find peace within yourself as day by day your pain will ease at the loss of your father. God bless.

Thanks Arisonasunset & Mallika, as that was an unexpected blessing. This is probably why I latched on to Deepak ~6 years ago via his websites, Q&A boards, books, etc., as I learned to cope with the lose, as well as working on developing my spiritual self. Deepak has helped so many people, who really had nowhere else to go and maybe some did have other avenues, but surely not as wise as Deepak. I was just thinking the other day how fortune Mallika is to have such a wonderful dad, and especially one who shares his heart and wisdom with everyone else.

Love, Char

Char, it sounds to me like your father knew a truth he could not live with, if it really was suicide which is another possibility that it wasn't especially with that timing and his involvement. I recall your writings about this from long ago and it made an impression.

There will be justice. Which means the truth will be brought to light that will destroy the fiction that created the injustice.

You will play a role in bringing justice to the world.
