Rascist slurs at McCain/Palin rallies should be denounced by candidates and party

Rayman Mathoda - October 21, 2008

I was trying last night to have a mellow evening at home after a full day of work. The full day of work was quite an experience after spending 3 blissful months ‘Exploring my Zen’ (as I like to call it) following the collapse of Indymac during the Summer. So here I was…cuddling with my 2 freshly bathed (and good smelling) Great Dane’s Lara and Tank…watching TV. But what I saw on CNN shocked me.

It looked (from the multiple clips they showed) like many people (definitely way more than a handful) at Palin/McCain rallies were screaming rascist comments and the crowd was supporting them. This included statements like “Obama bin Ladin”, “Mohammed Husein Obama”, “Them Commies”…etc.

Could this really be going on in America, without bipartisan public denunciation? As I recall, McCain actually defended the people attending their rallies during the final presidential debate. Is this new, or do these conversations go on in this rough tone more regularly? I sure hope I see McCain or Palin step up and call this nastiness what it is – unacceptable in America.

On a broader note: We take things like equal protection under the law and non-discrimination so much for granted at least all the places I’ve lived in America which includes Universities (New Jersey), Cities (Los Angeles, Chicago), Companies (McKinsey, Indymac, and many Fortune 1000 clients served while at McKinsey), or just plain walking around (anywhere….from San Francisco to Michigan to Oregon to Dallas to Seattle to Arizona…the list goes on).

But none of these “now so obvious” modern principles of equality so clearly embodied in the US constitution came naturally to Americans, or really to most societies around the world. They (for the most part) had to be inflicted on the majority by the righteous/enlightened minority or the founders of the modern day states.

Regrettably Rayman racism is alive and well in the United States, this fact is the primary reason the presidential campaign is so close right now . . .

peace

Rayman...

enjoyed your indymac blog....it was fun watching all these little libs go after you for suggesting one of their own had anything to do with it...

now...maybe you're trying to redeem yourself?

I'm not sure, that in these few years at IB that I've ever read anything as chilling as your last paragraph: "But none of these “now so obvious” modern principles of equality so clearly embodied in the US constitution came naturally to Americans, or really to most societies around the world. They (for the most part) had to be inflicted on the majority by the righteous/enlightened minority or the founders of the modern day states."

It's that kind of 'thinking' that causes red america to go apeshit holding onto their guns. That 'inflicted on the majority by the enlightened minority'... gives me the shivers... that's why this campaign is so crucial to me...has nothing to do with race...has to do with socialism vs. freedom... the rank and file democrats, you know, the 'by god my grandpa was a democrat and i am too', have no idea what they are in for with this 'enlightened' one that we're getting ready to elect.... With the supreme court, the minority can surely inflict the majority...

Just another day of typical IB bullshit!!

:)

Hello Rayman and Everyone,

Rayman you ask, "Could this really be going on in America, without bipartisan public denunciation? As I recall, McCain actually defended the people attending their rallies during the final presidential debate. Is this new, or do these conversations go on in this rough tone more regularly"

Usually this kind of stuff is saved for trying to influence voters in other countries to take a more, in the case of the US, democratic influence in their elections but other countries will do the same for their interests whatever they are.....and they go to rallies, plant some folks in those rallies, to do whatever...be loud and obnoxious, cheer for someone, leer at someone....now, our, politcians, are not supposed to do that during our political processes but it seems the republicans have become adept at this kind of thing....that is what you are hearing at the McCain/Palin rallies.....McCain/Palin throw out a few nuggets and the "plants" do their tricks....

really they should be called on this...and they shouldn't be allowed to get away with it....but the press and media love it too....it is a story to fill some of the 24/7 hours of air time...

Unfortunately, during the debates the candidates do not get a thorough enough going over as far as their answers are concerned.....they are accpted too easily, rarely challenged intelligently....

have a great day ruth....

Oh, brother....cry me a river....with this line....

it's that kind of 'thinking' that causes red america to go apeshit holding onto their guns.

hahahahaahahhha...

Actually, Skinny, if this Nation were not as grounded in the law the way it is,, and yeah, you can thank a lot of liberals for that fact and at least two republicans:).......people would be tearing each other apart..I mean....this is only a blog....and look at how some folks get so red in the face angry that they stoop to "in your face" derogatory name calling.....they have about as much control over themselves as a toddler...not naming any names though....:)))

so, yeah, Rayman has a point....if it were not for the minority "enlightened" founding father's vision of a Nation based on the rule of law, with that most important little bitty...sep of church and state.....we would be a mess...most likely....

people hold on to their guns because they "like them"....

socialism vs freedom...

so, tell me how did you survive during Clinton's eight years of socialism..... must have been tough having to guard your door with your AK 47? :)))
oh, boy.......I love the red and the blue....

have a good one everyone, ruth

Skinny, one of the definitions of socialism is, “an economic system based on state ownership”.

Doesn’t the author below have a point?

President Bush leads us to SOCIALISM
By Mike Mathiesen | September 17, 2008

Folks, events are happening fast and I’m not making this up.
URGENT you tell your friends.

The SECRET REPUBLICAN PLOT to deliver this country to the CHINESE COMMUNISTS has almost completely unfolded.

We are NOW a SOCIALIST NATION - with the Government’s purchase and bail out of FANNIE MAE, FREDDIE MAC, AIG, all the BANKS and BROKERAGES that the GOVERNMENT NOW OWNS. This is SOCIALISM whenever a government starts to buy up the PRIVATE CAPITALIST SYSTEM and makes the TAXPAYERS the OWNERS of these companies. SOCIALISM is just one tiny notch below COMMUNISM where the GOVERNMENT TAKES OVER ALL ASPECTS of the PRODUCTION of STATES.

One minute John McCain is calling Barack Obama a socialist. The next minute he's suggesting the federal government should buy up distressed mortgages at inflated prices to save home owners from their bad investments. Guess what John? That's a little bit of socialism right there.

None of the candidates is advocating literal socialism, a system whereby the government controls the basic means of production, least of all Obama, who is advised by Warren Buffett, one of the most successful capitalists of all time. If McCain were to suggest that, he should be disqualified from being president on the basis of mental deficiency.

On the other hand, as I pointed out in the opening paragraph, little bits of socialism can be found in policies espoused by all of the candidates. Sarah Palin's stump speech includes the line,"Now is not the time to experiment with socialism." The truth is we've been experimenting with socialism since the republic began.

Capitalism is our way of life. It's arguably the best economic system ever invented. But it's flawed. It needs help. Unchecked capitalism is subject to unchecked greed. And that can lead to problems, such as we experienced in 1929 and the 1980s and are experiencing now. So, over the years, we've built a few checks and balances into the system. Many of these checks and balances might be thought of as socialism but they are integral to the American way of life.

Start with the very idea of taxation. All taxation is redistribution of wealth. The government takes our money, then uses it as it sees fit for the betterment of our lives. The decision was made long ago that the free market could not adequately provide everything we need: defense, police, firefighters, bridges, roads, etc., So the government takes money from individuals and spreads it around society. McCain is proposing a tax break for rich people and a tax refund as part of his health insurance plan. Palin pushed for a windfall tax on oil companies that she then redistributed to the people of Alaska. So, while they attack Obama for proposing a tax cut for the middle class, they are both for redistribution of wealth.

We learned after the Great Depression that we needed to insure people's deposits in the bank. Everyone is happy about the FDIC insurance they get for free from the government. The government agreeing to replace your cash if the bank screws up? Not exactly free market capitalism. We also discovered that we needed to provide for the basic needs of our elderly. Social Security was born. And even though it has the word "social" right in it, very few people, other than folks on the fringe like Joe The Plumber, would like to face old age without it. Another safety net that most Americans would not like to live without is Medicare. Socialism! Wait until Rush Limbaugh realizes he can use his Medicare card to get cheaper pills than he does in the parking lot.

Anyone notice that tiny little bailout that President Bush spearheaded a few weeks ago? The one where the government committed $700 billion to buy up chunks of American companies? The one that both McCain and Obama supported? Yeah, some socialism in that one.

Our next venture into socialism will provide us with needed health care. We already spend more on health care than any nation in the world, yet 47 million people go without health insurance. In addition, insurance companies do not encourage preventative care and can choose to deny coverage even if you've paid your premiums. In 2000, The World Health Organization ranked the U.S. 37th in its list of health systems, behind Costa Rica, Morocco and Colombia, to name a few. That's a pretty low return for our money. When it comes to health care, capitalism needs a little bit of socialism.

Madison Powers has a great column at CQPolitics.com illustrating why McCain's socialism charge is such a big crock of shit:

"Every time tax policy is tailored to give incentives to expand home ownership, encourage employer-sponsored health plans, or reduce capital gains taxes to stimulate job creation, or when government adopts plans build highways or bridges to nowhere, fund medical research, regulate or not regulate derivatives and credit swaps, it engages in inherently — often deliberate — acts of redistribution.

The only complaint, it seems, comes when the redistributive effect is downward. It’s okay to feed the birds by feeding the horses, but when someone suggests that the birds might do better off if they did not have to depend on the horses, it’s socialism or some sort of un-American activity."

REPUBLICANS LIVID:
PALIN'S $150,000 SHOPPING SPREE

"Since her selection as John McCain's running mate, the Republican National Committee spent more than $150,000 on clothing and make-up for Gov. Sarah Palin, her husband, and even her infant son, it was reported on Tuesday evening.

That entertaining scoop -- which came by way of Politico -- sent almost immediate reverberations through the presidential race. A statement from McCain headquarters released hours after the article bemoaned the triviality of the whole affair."

"After all, it was during this same campaign cycle that Republicans belittled the $400 haircut that former Sen. John Edwards..."

"Beyond the political tit-for-tat, however, the revelation of the clothing expenditures offers what some Democrats see as a chance not just to win several news cycles during the campaign's waning days but to severely damage Palin's image as a small-town, 'Joe Six-Pack' American."

"Indeed, the story could not come at a more inopportune time for the McCain campaign. During a week in which the Republican ticket is trying to highlight its connection to the working class - and, by extension, promoting its newest campaign tool, Joe the Plumber - it was revealed that Palin's fashion budget for several weeks was more than four times the median salary of an American plumber ($37,514). To put it another way: Palin received more valuable clothes in one month than the average American household spends on clothes in 80 years. A Democrat put it in even blunter terms: her clothes were the cost of health care for 15 or so people."

"And certainly the possibility exists that this issue can be effectively swept under the rug. Palin is not known for taking impromptu questions from the press. Moreover, the media, at this juncture, has other major story lines (see: upcoming election) to grapple with, thus denying the piece the relative vacuum that accompanied the Edwards story. Finally, there is little desire among conservative writers or pundits to litigate the matter, even if they were more than happy to jump on board when a Democrat was in the spotlight."

Several hours after [conservative]Politico posted its findings, the topic remained nearly untouched by the major right-wing outlets. Though as Marc Ambinder at the Atlantic opined: "the heat for this story will come from Republicans who cannot understand how their party would do something this stupid ... particularly (and, it must be said, viewed retroactively) during the collapse of the financial system and the probable beginning of a recession."

Remember the Michelle Obama’s Ricco black/white dress on the View this summer?

I began lusting after her dress in a serious way from the second she walked onstage.

"20 Jun 2008 ... The breezy black-and-white dress worn by Michelle Obama on “The View" has become an overnight sellout across the country." [MSNBC]

Average American can afford it.

http://www.donnaricco.com/productdisplay.aspx?p=428

It costs $99 online.

Too bad Palin admirers can only lust for what she wears. (You can see in the eyes of the close-up audience at her rallies, especially young women who check out everything from her footwear to her hair dye. Men at her rallies also lust, for other reasons. Even McCain was checking out her ass during her VP acceptance speech. McCain camp has been treating her like a campaign prostitute since.)

BTW Palin can never have Michelle's class with all the money in the world... and lipstick.

More details from the original Politico story:

RNC shells out $150K for Palin fashion

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1008/14805.html

"The Republican National Committee has spent more than $150,000 to clothe and accessorize vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her family since her surprise pick by John McCain in late August.

According to financial disclosure records, the accessorizing began in early September and included bills from Saks Fifth Avenue in St. Louis and New York for a combined $49,425.74.

The RNC also spent $4,716.49 on hair and makeup through September after reporting no such costs in August."

...

"The business of primping and dressing on the campaign trail has become fraught with political risk in recent years as voters increasingly see an elite Washington out of touch with their values and lifestyles.

In 2000, Democrat Al Gore took heat for changing his clothing hues. And in 2006, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) was ribbed for two hair styling sessions that cost about $3,000.

Then, there was Democrat John Edwards’ $400 hair cuts in 2007 and Republican McCain’s $520 black leather Ferragamo shoes this year.

A review of similar records for the campaign of Democrat Barack Obama and the Democratic National Committee turned up no similar spending.

But all the spending by other candidates pales in comparison to the GOP outlay for the Alaska governor whose expensive, designer outfits have been the topic of fashion pages and magazines.

What hasn’t been apparent is where the clothes came from – her closet back in Wasilla or from the campaign coffers in Washington."

...

"September payments were also made to Barney’s New York ($789.72) and Bloomingdale’s New York ($5,102.71).

Macy’s in Minneapolis, another store fortunate enough to be situated in the Twin Cities that hosted last summer’s Republican National Convention, received three separate payments totaling $9,447.71.

The entries also show a few purchases at Pacifier, a top notch baby store, and Steiniauf & Stroller Inc., suggesting $295 was spent to accommodate the littlest Palin to join the campaign trail.

An additional $4,902.45 was spent in early September at Atelier, a high-class shopping destination for men."

The coming Socialism? No...It's a revolution!

Steve Coll:

"Obama’s plan means that even for the richest of filers, the difference between his tax system and McCain’s concerns approximately $45,000 in additional taxes for every $1 million wealthy filers earn in income after they reach the highest possible bracket. That’s enough to buy a small B.M.W., yes, but in the great scheme of things, this does not seem to qualify as an argument about socialism.

If it did, then Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford would be Bolsheviks."

Tony Blankley:

"Now, on the cusp of what some think will be a major Obama victory, we are beginning to see emerge what I will call "me-too conservatives" -- initially among conservative commentators (politicians to follow). I have in mind, among others: Peggy Noonan, David Brooks, Chris Buckley, David Frum and Kathleen Parker."

http://townhall.com/columnists/TonyBlankley/2008/10/22/the_birth_of_the_me-too_conservative

And maybe George Will. And the six of them can go to Hell. They're afraid Sarah Palin actually will be the face of Republicanism. When the revolution comes, they can be first up against the wall.

Take another look at that photo, and that nice, expensive silk scarf (the latest in fashion? How much does it cost?) which she wore yesterday. Isn't that a really cute animal motif there? Why, yes, it is, since it features my favorite party animal:

The donkey. Yep, you got that---the Democratic donkey!

Is she so amazingly stupid?

enamore22[dkos]: Obama Resoles His Shoes While Palin Spends $150K

While Politico reports on the RNC spending $150,000 to 'accessorize' Palin and her family, I stumbled upon this picture of Senator Obama (along with a great collection of campaign trail photos from Callie Shell).

http://digitaljournalist.org/issue0810/callie-intro.html

He's got holes in the bottom of both his shoes from walking so much on the campaign trail. And as the caption explains, he's already resoled them once.

"Senator Obama was doing press interviews by telephone in a holding room between events. Sometime later as he was getting ready to begin his event, he asked me if I was photographing his shoes. When I said yes, he told me that he had already had them resoled once since he entered the race a year earlier. Providence, R.I., 3/1/2008."

Joe Klein[Time] Goes there: McCain's Signed Prison "Confession."
by TomP
daily Kos

Whatever our differences on issues, I have to admit that Klein has been good on a lot this campaign. Today he calls out the Republicans (and McCain/Palin) on the "anti-American" tactic of calling parts of America real America and misusing patriotism:

"Anyone who talks about the "pro-American" parts of the country is making an anti-American statement.

[snip]

Anyone who describes one part of the country as "most patriotic" has lost all sense of what patriotism means."
http://www.time-blog.com/swampland/2008/10/patriotism_101.html
Time, Swampland, Joe Klein, Patriotism 101

And then he goes THERE.

Many of us know that John McCain was tortured in a Vietnamese prison and signed a "confession" denouncing American acts in Vietnam.

"In August 1968, over the course of four days, McCain was tortured into signing a confession that he was a "black criminal" and an "air pirate."

http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/23316912/makebelieve_maverick/print
Rolling Stone, Make Believe Mavrick

No one among us knows how they would act after torture, and I think most of us consider McCain's conduct to be completely honorable while a POW. Many were tortured and signed similar statements. [Tipper: Although there were some Vietnam POWs -some died some survived - who didn't confess. Now that's some heroism. That includes one of McCain's cell mate. Read the Rolling Stone in depth artcile. Link above.]

No one has attempted to use McCain's confession in this campaign against him. And no one will. Indeed, it often is the unspoken part of McCain's POW story. The media ignores it completely, as they should.

Which is why Joe Klein's remark today surprised me. Virtually no one has mentioned this in the trad med. The Rolling Stone article had one sentence. On the Time Magazine, Swampland blog, Joe Klein speculated that the misue of patriotism by McCain in this campaign might be related to unresolved issues within him about that confession:

"But, seriously, you have to wonder why John McCain has spent so much time questioning the patriotism of others, especially his opponent, in this campaign. Is it because he once signed a prison "confession" that he considered treasonous?

If so, please know that we don't blame you. You're a patriot, Senator, and a hero...at least, you were until you started questioning the patriotism of others--by saying things like they'd rather win an election than a war, and by implying that they're soft on terrorists. Then you became something else entirely. And it hasn't worked very well, has it?" [Time, Swampland, Joe Klein, Patriotism 101]

The difference between McCain and Obama is this: do you really think if Barack Obama had signed a similar confession that McCain would refrain from sending out mailers with copies of the confession?

It's almost over now, and we have to keep working hard to the finish line. This time, hope and decency will defeat hate and fear.

kos: The failure of the character assassination attempt, part II

I wrote earlier that Obama's favorabilities have surprisingly survived this election intact, given the amount of shit that has been flung in his direction. Part of the reason is that the GOP overreached in their attacks. While arguing that he was inexperienced could've gained traction pre-Palin, the stuff about being a Muslim Marxist Manchurian candidate was simply, well, ludicrous.

"In this narrative, Obama is "a Marxisant radical who all his life has been mentored by, sat at the feet of, worshipped with, befriended, endorsed the philosophy of, funded and been in turn funded, politically promoted and supported by a nexus comprising black power anti-white racists,." Once elected, presumably, will reveal himself to be the monster that he is, in the manner of Kang and Kodos in that classic 1996 Treehouse of Horror episode of The Simpsons.

If you want to take a look at their reasoning, I recommend the work of Stanley Kurtz over at the National Review. But what I’m most interested in is the unstated but necessary conditions for all this to be true:

'1.) That Barack Obama is, and has been at least from his college days, a conscienceless, hermetic liar, who refused to reveal his true agenda and thoughts to anyone other than his co-conspirators; not to his casual friends, students, colleagues, employers, clients and constituents, and that his two books on his life and political beliefs are nothing but a pack of lies, possibly ghostwritten by others. Further, that Obama never acted in any significant way to advance that Marxist/radical agenda in any of his prior jobs or offices, presumably because if he had done so (by, say, putting forward a radical Marxist bill in the Illinois State Senate, where he served for 12 years,) he would have blown his cover, and ruined his chance to become President, which has always been his goal, and from which office he will finally enact his true agenda;

2.) and/or that those of his friends/colleagues/co-conspirators to whom he did reveal his true agenda, (William Ayers, et al) have also maintained absolute perfect silence/mendacity on the topic, forever, as no one who actually knows Obama has ever said, "You know, once he’s got a couple of drinks in him, he starts going on about Che and finishing the Revolution;"

3.) and/or all the sensible, centrist, often bipartisan things Obama did do (eg. the bill to tape interrogations in Illinois) the hundreds of thousands of dollars he he helped hand out via the Annenberg Challenge to things like literacy programs, et. al, were all mere cover for his true, as of yet unenacted agenda;

4.) and/or all the national newspapers and news channels that have scoured every aspect of Obama’s life, from his childhood in Indonesia to his career as a law professor to his wife’s honor’s thesis at Princeton, and who have revealed absolutely no evidence of anything but Obama being an extremely intelligent, perhaps overly cautious and eager-to-please good-government liberal, have either themselves been duped or, more likely, are in on the scam.'"

That's quite a conspiracy. And after years of suffering from the Left's own conspiracy mongers, it's nice to see their side join the fun. Only difference is, our conspiracy theorists are marginalized. Theirs publish in the top conservative publications.

Sarah Palin, freeloader.
by Kagro X

$150,000 shopping sprees (at all the best "elitist" shops, no less), on the Republican National Committee tab.

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1008/14805.html

$21,012 worth of free flights for her daughters, charged to the state.

http://www.boston.com/news/politics/2008/articles/2008/10/22/alaska_paid_for_palin_daughters_to_travel/

All this, when she already makes $125,000 a year as governor and pockets an extra $22,883 in energy extraction royalties.

Sarah Palin is a chisler supreme.

All of which makes the fact that she charged $16,951 in expenses charged to the state, including 312 per diem allowances for *staying in her own home* just that much more amazing.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/08/AR2008090803088.html

A dual income family, with Sarah earning $125K. Free travel (even for the family), and now free clothes, hair and makeup. They can actually go out in her backyard and shoot a moose, keeping her family in free mooseburger for a year. And *still* she feels the need to cheat. Shoot that moose for free and still charge the state $60 per burger. And she claims she deserves every bit of it.

Now *that's* what I call a perverse sense of entitlement.

"Sounds like socialism to me," to borrow a phrase.

Just another fake "bootstrapper" Republican. What a shocker.

Meanwhile, we all have to endure the indignity of Palin turning the campaign for the Vice Presidency into some kind of FOX reality TV makeover show, where they take some ridiculously not-ready-for-prime-time pol and dress her up, push her out on the stage, and see if they can turn her into a VP in 10 weeks.

What the hell, right? It's just being second in line to the nuclear launch codes. No big thing. We could even do a whole copromotional deal with moose sandwiches at Subway.

Thanks, Republicans. You sure do love our country n' stuff. [Daily Kos]

Not surprisingly, Hannity/Fox are OUTRAGED over Palin grooming $$

Here's what Sean Hannity has to say about candidates spending outrageous sums of money on personal grooming.

He's mad as hell that anyone would spend serious cash on personal grooming while we're facing a war against islamo-facist-terrorist-baby-killing-dark-skinned-arab-speaking-veil-wearing-elitist-facist-islamo-k iller-hate-socialist-doodie-heads!

Here's what he had to say

"when you juxtapose those images that go on forever with the images that we have out today that came -- this Al Qaeda manual that talks about drilling hands, severing limbs, dragging people behind cars, eye removal, blow-torching people at the skin, suspending people from a ceiling, breaking limbs -- and then I think of "this woman" with the $13,200 "spent on makeup in one month...""

--May 24, 2007 broadcast of Fox News' Hannity & Colmes as reported on Media Matters

http://mediamatters.org/items/200705250008

O.K., so he was really talking about John Edwards and a $400 haircut. I guess we will be seeing 24/7 breathless reporting on Palin's makeup and clothing expenditures and more details on this critical issue by Fox News and Sean Hannity, right?

ZOMFG! John McCain Is A Socialist!

Down in the polls, John McCain's Divide & Flail™ strategy is to call Barack Obama's tax cut for 95% of Americans "socialism."

Well, John McCain must have once been a socialist, because it turns out that for years he supported higher taxes on the wealthy to pay for lower taxes on the middle-class. The YouTube don't lie:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8EyGpOU3qM

Side note: Isn't it amazing how much John McCain has changed over the years?

I don't think that people saying "them commies" is in any way a "racist" statement. If, in fact, it is, I would love for someone to explain how that is, in fact, a racist statement.
Someone who is shouting "them commies" I would assume, is making a statement about how they feel about Obama's politics. It is interesting to note, however, that that statement gets discredited by simply crying "racism" when the statement is in no way racist.
The other statements also seem to express feelings about Obama's politics.

"I don't think that people saying "them commies" is in any way a "racist" statement. If, in fact, it is, I would love for someone to explain how that is, in fact, a racist statement."

The "socialist" label that John McCain and his GOP presidential running mate Sarah Palin are trying to attach to Barack Obama actually has long and very ugly historical roots.

J. Edgar Hoover, director of the FBI from 1924 to 1972, used the term liberally to describe African Americans who spent their lives fighting for equality.

Those freedom fighters included the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., who led the Civil Rights Movement.

McCain and Palin have simply reached back in history to use an old code word for black. It set whites apart from those deemed unAmerican and those who could not be trusted during the communism scare.

Excellent Video. Just exposes the hypocrisy of "socialist"/communist smear. And even in this election season, McCain had the most socialist proposal for the mortgage crisis. Reiterates the fact that there's more going on here than just an attempt to convey the true nature of Obama's economic policies.

McPain is trying to connent Obama to socialism.

Meanwhile this happened:

“So now Comrades Bush, Paulson and Bernanke (as originally nicknamed by Willem Buiter) have now turned the USA into the USSRA (the United Socialist State Republic of America). Socialism is indeed alive and well in America; but this is socialism for the rich, the well connected and Wall Street. A socialism where profits are privatized and losses are socialized with the US tax-payer being charged the bill of $300 billion.”

Sacchin,

Oh yes that would be totally true about the racism implications of socialism if only Obama's campaign had anything to do with the Civil Rights movement. What is his association with the civil rights movement? Is it merely that he is an African American man running for President?
