Well I say there are just too many racists still; and that weekend blitz of Ayers ads reinstilled the fervent fear of the black man in white America.

But of course Shmuel will say of course that is the reason I would use that Obama lost.

Oh well, we tried.

peace

What do you mean Craig? Obama won.

Kentucky, Georgia, Oklahoma . . .: what is wrong with those woods down there LPB!?!

Don't make me change my evil ways and get a job!

But if my country proves to me they will give a brother a chance, I will give my fellow Americans a chance.

I know, I know, don't wait for the other to change one's own ways.

Damn! I am running out of excuses!

Obama gets Pennsylvania! Yeah baby!

I have hope; I have not felt this way since before I dropped out of grad school!

Peace

Trend is looking good for Obama no question

Craig:

They won't call it but I will.

A BROTHA IN DA HOUSE!

Doesn't look like the Dems will get 60 in the senate, the only bright spot for the Repubs.

Congrats to all who supported Obama, it's your night

Norm, you around or are you done in by Jack D.?

Cheers,

Steve

well, thank you Ohio.....see....you don't have to stay red forever........they done gots some smarts and choose to be blue.....

well...so far it is not the blowout of my dream election....down right gives me the creepies that so many still went for McCain and were not concerned about Palin....at all.....really, that is creepy.....but enough of my nighthmare......

it looks like they will be dancing in Chicago in a few hours....I think I am going to call it an evening soon....got to get up early......

nite nite...ruth....is it too soon? to say YES!

Ah..yeah steve...I'm around!!

I had a great nite last nite! Unlike gentle Mallika, my pride in being American doesn't stem from who wins the white house...it's a great big beautiful country!

We shall see....

1st amendment as written...probably a goner... dems are already crowing about fairness doctrine..

2nd amendment...grave danger...as obama appoints supreme court justices....

true freedom took a hit last night...but we shall overcome...

It's still a great day to be an american...

Congrats to all you Obama supporters...you did it...you had a candidate....we had...we had...well...hell....we had McCain!!

Romney 2012!!

:)

Ben Smith and Jonathan Martin at the conservative Politico write on why Obama won:

"Obama won on his own terms, strategically and symbolically. He rolled up a series of contested states, from Colorado to Virginia, long out of Democratic reach. And his victory reflected the accuracy of his vision of a reshaped country. Racism, much discussed, turned out to be a footnote, and African-American turnout was not unusually high. Instead, Obama drew his strength from an array of racially mixed, growing areas around cities like Orlando, Washington, Indianapolis, and Columbus on his way to at least 334 electoral votes."

Something to look at in the next couple of days -- turnout sucked. Not all ballots are in, but we're currently at almost 119M for the night.

http://scoreboard.dailykos.com/map/

We had 122M vote in 2004. So we may get to 2004 levels. A quick spot check confirmed numbers down in many states (e.g. CA, NY, OH, etc).

***

African-American turnout share increased from 11 percent to 13 percent. Turnout among registered black voters must have been near universal.

Youth turnout up a point. Latino turnout not up (Low 8% turnout as in the past.)

As of now, Obama popular vote margin is 6%

That is huge. It could have been even bigger.
