Today is an important day.
It's where we collectively decide what type of leadership feels most aligned with our own core values and beliefs. As you can imagine, emotions are burning hot.
During these sensitive times, it's easy to judge others. "How could they possibly think like that?" or "They're ignorant for believing that" are just some of the thoughts that I have caught myself thinking over the last few days.
Guilty as charged.
This morning, I woke up with a new energy and a new thought: "Everyone is trying the best they can." While it's sometimes hard to swallow, this is ALWAYS the case. Let me explain.
Your experiences from the past shape the beliefs you carry, and the beliefs you hold dictate the actions you take. What this means is that your background usually (emphasis on) dictates what you think, and thus you can't blame someone for believing in a certain cause based upon where they have come from. For better or worse, they have come from a different place and gone down a different road.
It's as simple as that.
I understand that today is an important day and we should all do our part by voting. But as you perform action, make a commitment to bring a little compassion into your awareness. When someone is making a decision or taking a stand for something that you oppose, soften into the place of knowing that "they are trying the best they can with the tools they have been given."
Now is the perfect time to practice what will happen as our collective shifts. Let's vote for change and move beyond separation and judgment.
Much love,
Max

I read in the NYTimes that Omar Osama bin Laden has requested asylum in Spain. Very interesting story.
As for the election, it is over, and Barack Obama will soon be declared the winner. It will be an interesting four years to anticipate, but it will also be a most difficult one for the Democrats to handle.

Hope things change in US after this election...
Hope things change in US after this election... and yes, I have been going through "How could they think like this" syndrome too... esp. coz I was reading some comments on some news articles where people were like "How can someone vote for Obama...we want someone who can get rid of Osama bin laden, terrorism etc." Now seriously, if they really want that.. what did Bush/Republicans do so far about that?!!! SEVEN YEARS of Bush reign have gone by after Sept 11 man!! There's been loss of innocent lives, billions of dollars but no one knows what happend to Osama bin laden!
