Wow, what an evolutionary week!
Record numbers of young people came out to vote and we
elected our first black president. As a result, people from
all different cultures, races, and backgrounds are
celebrating these monumental achievements. It feels like
change is in the air.
What's interesting about the shift that have taken place
over the last few days is that it's not actually about Obama;
at least not entirely. If you look below the surface, what's
been re-born inside is a new found sense of hope and
inspiration. While it's easy to say "That's because we have
a new leader!", the truth is that Obama simply represents
our own actualized potential projected outward.
Think about it.
He represents an underdog that came out on top. He
represents unity when the past was ruled by separation. He
represents hope that conquered despair. He represents light
that awakened darkness.
If you look inside, do you feel a personal connection to any
of these stories?
I sure do.
I'm bringing this up because it's possible to "elect hope"
every day of our lives, regardless of what's happening in
politics. Yes, external factors might make it easier on
certain days then others. But if we understand that this
feeling of inspiration that has recently washed over our
nation actually comes from within, and that if we all come
together at the same time to project it outwards, what
unfolds is a celebration of human existence, diversity, and
change.....and guess what? It can happen all the time!
So YES, let's celebrate the dawn of a new day!! But let's
not make it (just) about Obama. Let's focus on the energy
of change, the spirit of unity, and the beauty of hope. For
if we realize that he didn't create these energies inside of
us but rather we projected them onto him, we can take
responsibility for the momentum that we've created and
sustain it over time to better serve ourselves, each other,
and humanity as a whole.
Does this make sense? As always, your comments are
welcomed and appreciated.
Much love,
Max Simon

What a beautiful way of looking at this - electing hope. Thanks for the view!

Dear Max,
I think because Obama is young and energetic and full of ideas and a great orator, like John and Robert Kennedy, that we want him to do well because he has a furure. An old 70 year old white haired politician we see as towing the same old line. The perception is quite different.
Barack Obama is a truly nice man. Check the pic at the top of this story:

(or click my name)
...he even has the SS guy smiling.
He's got it all: heart, soul, spirit and mind.
Dear Heath,
I checked out your picture. Very nice. But I can't figure out why you used the term SS. The SS was the Nazi Protective Squandron and found guilty of crimes against humanity.
Are you that young to not know, or are you that young to be so cavalier. I had no idea what you were talking about until I looked at the picture.
I wouldn't go around calling them SS. It is bad enuf havving an agency named Homeland Security that reminds me of the term "Fatherland" used for Nazi Germany.
Pardon my age is showing and my shame for Western Civilization.

is the right pic -- they changed the lede photo.
SS = Secret Service. lots of things have the initials SS, no need to associate it with one thing only.
anyway, maybe that's not an SS man -- maybe an aide or driver? dunno.
anyway, lots of subdued happiness on his face. it is a goooood pic.

Dear Heath,
I checked out your picture.
What do you see behind this wall?
Sweet-skin of heaven
Help me look at this wall
Lady-sunshine
I see pregnancy of two-void
Usefullness of emptyness
Pleasure-clarity
Renewed of white and black
What do you see behind this wall?
It's always the same, the same wall
Acculumating hopes and waits
Letters-chained not mine
Fanatism of human-science, maybe
Real-opportunities missed
Red on linear-wall
Wait, do you know
Sherishing you with mind
Brings braille-new knowledge...
