Its horrific but not surprising
http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/asiapcf/11/26/india.attacks/index.html
I am shaken and time has been spent in frantic emails going back and forth. A friend called his brother who lives barely half a mile away from Oberoi Hotel which was set on fire and hostages are being held there and he heard gunshots being fired steadily even while they were on the phone and his brother said his family was safe.
This scenario however has been predicted by Dr. Jag Sheth to me so many times. Dr Sheth is a world renowned marketing guru and has said it will be the economics that will be the driver and not politics in a global world. There will be unlikely alliances and terrorists will attack those places that will be a hub of economic activity, and Mumbai is considered the New York of India, and with Bollywood's main studios centered there, it was a city that should have been prepared for something like this.
I read they are targeting Britons and Americans and let an Italian go. How does that matter? In the end its the innocent that die. But this will have major repercussions when certain groups in India will retaliate.
I worry not just for Mumbai, and the innocent but what incidents like this can do in countries the world over.
And all I can do is pray..

In one context there are very few innocent adults on the planet. It is simply that I AM far removed from the violence I help to create. We might also call it passive violence.
If I have ever profited from gambling in the stock market, owned mutual funds with shares in an oil company, or a pharmaceutical company I AM not innocent. If I watch sitcoms or sports rather than becoming self informed and taking the time to read and then tending to the matters of the world and humanity I AM are not innocent.
If I have ever used a label that divides, or have ever identified with a group to the exclusion of others I AM not innocent.
If I have ever failed to speak the truth when a fiction was spoken or remained silent when an injustice committed, I AM are not innocent.
If I failed to support those that sought balance the world and create awareness I AM not innocent.
For sure this is a tragedy for all.
It was written
The violence that I help to create from afar would some day present itself at my door.
They were told what would come and the solutions were provided but none embraced them.
For sure this is a tragedy for ALL.
And we were all born innocent into the world...
So what does that tell me about the fictions I was taught?
If I were the Prime Minister I would give a speech something to the effect.
"I would ask that the people of my nation remove from their lexicon any label that divides with separation, let us speak amongst each other as one"
"Let us understand that justice is not about revenge or persecution rather it is all about bringing the truth to light to destroy the fiction that gave birth to the injustice"
"Let us know that these fictions and the truth to remedy them may relate to things far removed the place of transgression"
"Let us bring the truth to light that will provide everyone a life worth living and all the injustice in the history of man will be undone"
might sound good in movie
I'm with you there, Kavita.
I just watched Deepak speak on Larry King's show.
In order to have a true rainbow coalition with perfect equalization,
we have to see "people" being hurt and/or killed, and allow that to be the very last
label for humankind that WE ever need to apply to our innermost importune selves!
Branching out is impossible under certain conditions. Why now? UT
I agree with all of you and truly wish that the world could move in the direction that we speak of. While I was reading these comments however, I realized that those who have not reached a certain level of understanding will not be moved or influenced by the "truth" we speak of. How can someone who has blocked any communication with his/her conscience ever hear any word we speak?

Whenever, a tragedy unfolds, like the one in Mumbai, which is in a grip of terrorist act, those far removed from the scene of tragedy, try to put forward their respective agenda.
What I feel the right and correct response to any tragedy around the world of innocent lives being wasted on the alter of fundamentalism, power struggle etc: should be the feeling of sincere pain and remorse. Apathy with those, where ever they be, who have suffered, for no fault of theirs, is the correct responce.
Later on it can be debated and analysed, but as of now, my heart goes out to those precious lives lost.
Hope the tragedy ends without loss of furhter lives.
I learned that when offended, we should turn our backs to the offense and to the
offenders. I turn my back to violence. Violence is then forced
to turn its back to me. Either the easy way(by submissively getting away
from me) or the hard way(having nature forcing it to). I couldn´t recommend it more highly right now
My biggest fear is that religion will be used again and the Muslims of India and world over may have to suffer the backlash.
I actually did not want to be drawn into this ongoing problem as I watched Wolf Blitzer the other evening on CNN discuss this story before it was finally ended. The idea that India was saying that this was more like Oklahoma City than 9/11 makes me think that nations are beginning to use acts of terrorism as trophies. I remember when Spain had their 9/11 on March 11 and said it was their 9/11. It is ridiculous for nations to become a part of a victimization group. All willing to be ready victims.
It appears that each nation has to wait its turn til some terrorist group attacks it to become a part of this exclusive club of victims of al qaeda or some other terrorist group.
Truthfully, when Muslims believe that martyrdom is the road to Heaven, then nothing will prevent them from becoming martyrs for their cause. All one can do is to either eliminate this need for a quick trip to Heaven by re-educating them to the truth of the purpose of bringing children to earth in the first place then. The Muslim people who continue to teach acts of hatred and in fact encourage wrong doing must be exposed for their own wretched interpretation of God's laws.
In other words, the war on terror will continue so long as Muslims teach one another to hate instead of God's law and command, Love One Another!
I believe that Muslims can be converted to love one another too, so let's all try to bring it about!
