Terrorist Attack in Mumbai

Salman Ahmad - November 26, 2008

We are jolted again by the horrific news of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai. No religion or nation, regardless of race and ethnicity, could ever condone the mass murder of innocents without forever condemning their souls to darkness. My heart goes out to the people who lost their lives and to untold others who have been left behind to pick up the pieces from this tragedy. As a Pakistani-American I have often enjoyed staying at the Taj hotel and have been welcomed warmly by Indians of all backgrounds. Having performed all over India with Junoon, including earlier this year, in Kashmir. tonight my heart is with India and its people. Your grief is our grief, your blood is our blood.Only together can we overcome the darkness of our times.

As a global community we need to be careful in not pointing the blame against any one religion, race or ethnic group. Fanning the flames of hatred at a sensitive time like this is not only foolish but could be potentially catastrophic. It is important that the media discriminates between peace loving Muslims and terrorists who only bow to gods of hate, bigotry and fanaticism. The sentiment amongst all Pakistanis that I know is of shocked disbelief. As global citizens, I feel we have a greater responsibility to help create an atmosphere of calm and brotherhood in this emotionally charged environment. In Islam the taking of one innocent life is like killing the whole of humanity and all Muslims of conscience condemn this heinous act.

My heart goes out to everyone effected in this tragedy and I will hold everyone in my thoughts and prayers for a peaceful outcome.
Hugs, Lily

We are all shocked and dismayed, and this henious crime against innocent people is condemned.

The operation to flush out the terrorist is still on, it is good that the Authorities have gagged the media, from disclosing sensitive news on the channel, as in all probability the terrorists may also be wtching the media coverage.

Mr Ahmad as of now it is not known who the terrorist are, from your post, it seems you have assumed that there are muslims. A terrorist is a terrorist, his religion is Terrorism, he can wear a garb of muslim, hindu or jew, christan whatever.

Once the global community gets together on a single platform, casting aside their narrow parochial view, we will start to see some light in the dark tunnel.

As I write this, many innocent are trapped in the unfolding tragedy, many have died, including 3 top Police Officers, hope the mayhem ends soon, with no more loss of precious life.

Good thoughts in a bad time.

Today, my prayers are with all those whose lives were disrupted or destroyed in Mumbai yesterday. Beyond their immediate pain, I pray that all those who suffer anywhere, for any reason, find safety, and the freedom and will to live peacefully.

What a surprise.

According to twitter..

aeropolowoman: SashaKane:R/T@CajunTechie Mumbai terrorist were in getting orders from Karachi Pakistan via satphones: #mumbai CONFIRM PLZ

http://www.rediff.com/news/2008/nov/27mum-terrorists-in-touch-with-karachi-via-satphone.htm

"According to highly reliable intelligence sources, two boatfuls of weapons and some 18-20 terrorists most likely came from Karachi in Pakistan.
Intelligence agencies are zeroing in on the Lashkar-e-Tayiba as the agency behind the terror attacks".

Lets see if the spineless Congress party fearful of elections next week might do something about it this time..

With all our capacity for innovation, we have failed to envision how primitive behaviour can unleash such brutal catastrophes. Yet simultaneously, this capacity can unleash the beauty of our higher selves.

Given that we all share a common grave, compassionate action may well be the only human action of any value at this time.

My heart goes out to India.
