Just caught it by mistake....flipping through the channels and I see a familiar face...click back and it is Gotham Chopra!....and lo and behold...he is on Bill O's..Fox TV's wisdom hour...with his Dad...Deepak....all I can say is you guys are brave....really...Bill and his outrageous outrage....you mean to tell me...a terrorist is my brother!!!!:) you want to close GITMO!!!!!what are we going to do with them there terrorists? move the to upstate NY..you say!!!..

Boy, Bill is all DRAMA...you gotta love him? okay not so much....but you guys....D & G....held your own quite well....the calm and peaceful quality you present probably said more than your words when presented along side Bill's outrageous indignatious questioning......

The elder Chopra goes on Fox News, the Hannities O'Reillies, and then talk about their treatment over there (as if that was unexpected), or better still drive attention by "My Letter to Hannity" etc. (Next up Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin?)

The younger Chopra is catching on...the other day he was on a nobody wingnut (self-proclaimed)neoconservative blog defending Deepak and his own world view about the Mumbai attacks.
Now he joins Deepak on Fox...

Too bad the progressives and liberals on the left pay little attention to Deepak Chopra unless he creates a fracas with the wingnuts on the right. It is interesting to note that the likes of Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann have ignored Deepak Chopra while the rightwing social conservative commentators love to have him to drive their message and (mutual) ratings. I would rather ignore than enable them.

Teachers 'beat and abuse' Muslim children in British Koran classes.

Muslim children are being beaten and abused regularly by teachers at some British madrassas - Islamic evening classes - an investigation by The Times has found.

Students have been slapped, punched and had their ears twisted, according to an unpublished report by an imam based on interviews with victims in the north of England. One was “picked up by one leg and spun around” while another said a madrassa teacher was “kicking in my head - like a football”, says the report which was compiled by Irfan Chishti, a former government adviser on Islamic affairs.

Almost 1,600 madrassas operate in Britain, teaching Arabic and the Koran on weekday evenings to about 200,000 children aged from four to their mid-teens. “

i wonder what presenting them as somehow fitting into a liberal versus conservative talk show format would be at all elucidating

people might be tempted to think that liberals need to think differently somehow from conservatives about how to approach and remedy these horrors

the ultimate solution to these horrors, whever their source, is made that much slower in coming, if the solution's pathway is landmined in advance by notions of a liberal-versus-conservative flavor to the understanding and framing of the issues behind the horrors

I admire Chopra´s intention to speak science against "absolute conservative truths"

I have often failed miserably in that job. I am more inclined to leave the laws of nature
teach them, even though it´s such a slow and painful process.

Quite an emotional range with Bill on one side being high pitched in tone and aggressive in conversation...on the attack! And on the other side with Deepak and Gotham emitting a softer and gentler tone and conversation. You both did a great job holding center! Thank you for going into the heart and heat of the debate (and emotional territory) and coming through victorious. Rainbow warriors rising from core and radiating/reflecting colors that heal.
