How to avoid another Mumbai

Deepak Chopra - December 02, 2008

Before the economy eclipsed everything else, the country was feeling better about Iraq. The war was winding down. The insurgents were being steadily pacified. Then along came Mumbai, and their 9/11, as Indians view it, reignited our own past fears. As the world watched the grueling, sickening violence enacted against innocent victims, it was easy to push back as aggressively as possible against these attackers and their like everywhere.

In other words, kill them all.

Aloha Deepak

It is to know desire and suffering is from the same root. My Client shared she wasn't happy because her 93 birthday was coming up. I enjoyed telling her, "Our parents lied to us We were never born!" She seemed to enjoy that. Your amazing.... hopefully the crabgrass will flower as our consciousness flowers as we remember we are all from the same root. love patty

Asking you Deepak for some proof of that the supernatural and the paranormal exist seems futile. But when you write about occurrences in the real world you often make sense and so does your son.

He writes:
“Yes - America for all the democratic ideals for freedom and liberty it declares to the rest of the world - does indeed have a fundamental responsibility to stay true to them and be held accountable when we fail to even give the appearance that we care for them, as unfortunately the Bush regime has shown the last 8 years”.

“But clearly as we enter a new era and Presidency, we have an opportunity to contemplate a new cohesive strategy for dealing with the plague of the 21st century - Islamic fundamentalism”.

And hopefully America and its new President will remember the past and try very hard not to repeat it:

I enjoyed this article and I thought it was the perfect antidote to that "Deepak Blames America" article written below in the WSJ online. Why was Gothan's article removed in response to this article on Intent? He speaks for a generation that definitely should be heard.

Overstating the case is not more convincing, it's less so. Using fewer, simpler words allows the reader to do a little work with their minds and feelings, and get engaged emotionally. A song is a better tool for teaching than than a word-hammer.

I posted this below on my blog (click me name) in August 2005, and here several times since then. I thought it to be illusion shattering. That was also when I started pointing out the truths regarding Vitamin D, which the media and researchers are only just picking up on.

The War on Terror (NOT) - stomping on shadows to make them go away

The phrase “war on terror” is an empty statement that actually creates what it portends to be against. As such it will not lead to a solution; it does not represent an executable plan that would achieve anything of value. It perpetuates Illusion and results in misperception. It is also an irrational statement, propaganda designed to manipulate and actually instill the fear it that is pretends to be against. This phrase is the device of a terrorist, and in it’s use we do their bidding.

Terror has no mind and no will it has no body it does not act and cannot be acted upon. Therefore one cannot have a war on terror. “War on Terror” is a sham statement. Terror meaning intense fear cannot be destroyed because it exists in the mind of individuals and is intangible. Only the source of the fear which is born of ignorance supported by events, spoken intentions and pending consequences resulting from the actions of some, can be eliminated. That which gives rise to the fear needs to be addressed and more specifically the illusions, and ignorance that gives rise to it. Be it scarcity, oppression, control, and loss of freedom. It is the fear in the minds of the so called terrorists that needs to be addressed. It is the anger born of pain and suffering that leads to violence. The terrorists do not need to be destroyed; it is the perceptions in their mind that result in their actions that need to be addressed and if these perceptions and fears are not eliminated new bodies will come to host them. There will be no end to terrorism. It is conflict that results in destructive actions. We need conflict resolution.

Since it is the fear, anger or pain in the minds of the terrorists that is the enemy and it cannot be touched or seen then one cannot go to war against it.
It is the fear in the minds of those who appear to be the enemy that is our target. It is the dissolution of this fear that shall be the object of our intention.
Let truth and compassion be the way and let gravity and not force be the impetus for change. This is not to say we should not apprehend those that are a physical threat, but if we do nothing to eliminate the source of their creation there will be an endless supply.
It is the fear in our minds that is made manifest in the minds of those who might become our enemy.
The proper name for this project should be along the lines of the:

Conflict Resolution Movement
Peace Propagation Effort or Perhaps
The Peace Establishment
Researching a common understanding
The Empathetic Revolution

Not the “War on Terror” which is a sham.
.
There is nothing to war against; it is all about communication, understanding and eliminating the illusions that result in false thinking, leading to negative emotions and erroneous and destructive actions.

SHAM
1. Something false or empty that is purported to be genuine; a spurious imitation.
2. The quality of deceitfulness; empty pretense.
3. One who assumes a false character; an impostor

If one were wishing to engage the light of the sun so their skin would produce vitamin D, that they may avoid lethal cancers later in life, they would dismay if by the movement of the sun they found themselves in the shadow of the tree. Would it make sense to stomp on the shadow and curse the tree? Was it not that the sun itself that moved. So why is it that we do this? Why not simply move into the light and bless the tree? If we were in the heat of the desert would we curse the sun and tell it to flee or would we find the shade of a fig tree?
Do not embrace their Illusions cast them into the pit with the words from your discerning mind.

Let the mothers no longer weep and let the children still have their fathers when they go to sleep.

Amen

#10 Pretty much with you, rationally, Richard ;)

Fathers need to be there when children awake, too......or do they, in our other sense of the word?

I have this conceptual 'problem' How can we be entities and non-entities at the same time? How can we be live bodies and dead bodies? Are our 'entities' really eternal? Is there a before-life, a herenow and an afterlife? Are they really just one Being. (v or n)

When suicidal entities come recklessly in, blazing 'non-entity' what is really the 'message?'

One could argue that Jesus was 'suicidal.' I could argue, from wise men tenets, that 'death' is a 'sham.' It is certainly a shame. It may not even be necessary were we to find the right 'tuning.'

I am hinting here, as best I can, because it is nigh impossible to communicate. It might be easier to communicate with the so-called dead, and I don't mean to be insensitive to the very real pain and emotion of loss.

Maybe, Richard, this is where you go, and can decipher for me.

Blessings, all.

wonder if the word
"terrorism"

might better be substituted with
"asymmetrical warfare"

seems this modality of human interaction
has a long history
and can happen in
different places and
different ways

it is sort of a David-versus-Goliath phenomenon,
with the added feature that

civilians are directly killed,
not collaterally, and

the violence-bringers usually end up lifeless themselves,
kamikaze-like

Definition of asymmetrical warfare on the Web:

Battles undertaken outside of normal conventions and tactics in

which two opponents are unmatched by wide margins and

implementing diverse weaponry.

seems to me this latest explosion is the most recent in a long

line of India--Pakistan clashes, ever since the Great

Partitioning in 1947... and perhaps earlier, as well

and now that conflict isn't really about Religion --- many India

Muslims actually do not love Pakistani Muslims --- many

Muslims were killed in the attack

is is about Nationality??

I do not know

maybe something more hidden is going on...

who is fostering this newest wave of India-Pakistan violence?

who stands to benefit from it?

I do not know

perhaps certain Superpowers could conceivably benefit in some

way strategically or economically or geographically

and other interest groups, too, such as arms dealers and

somehow perhaps oil-related people, but I cannot figure that

out

anyhow, the "Islamic terrorist movement," in my opinion, as it

now stands, consists of very powerful behind-the scenes

manipulators and financers who are clandestinely sponsoring

and directing their energized people-puppets (puppets =

several crazed and certifiably non-mainstream extremists) for

hidden purposes harnessing the crazy energy of wild rogue

horses, red streaks in their wild eyes, and channeling that wild

energy toward whatever! sneaky secret use by the highest

bidder

"terrorist" attacks are now the medium of conflict/war

interaction internationally, one size fits all, this medium is like

sugar paste out of which many different types of candy can be

made, any political/economic/etc goal pursued, by

manipulating the chocolate, peppermint, color, hazelnuts, pecan

contents --the definitions and so forth, the interpretations of

the responsible parties' identities and purposes -- stirring

up a new batch of candy, flavored whichever way....serving

mainly to keep the pot boiling when things are getting too

peaceful for the REAL POWERBROKERS to whom Peace is

frightening because it threatens their pocketbook or political

interest or geographic agenda in some way --- in some parts of

the world people are punished for being peacemakers...-- well,

how can interested parties and powerbrokers behind the scenes

pulling the strings have a merry-go-round ride if the merry-go-

round has stopped turning?

Overall, no one wants to get into the Big Boys' nuclear warfare

thing----too freakin' risky---- so we have now all the

meanness and contrariness and hidden agendas of humankind,

internationally, churning eternally on a slow, and sometimes

boiling, simmer, fired by fanatics, in the kitchen of the Real

Powerbrokers...... this boiling pot is called

..Whatever.....asymmetric warfare, guerrilla warfare, terrorism

keeps the bicycle Moving so the bicycle riders can keep

themselves in play and won't fall down

whatever historic conflict or religious difference will do to serve

as pretext and/or seed crystal for the latest installment of

violence... some people FEED on violence and man's

inhumanity to man, believe it or not-- they NEED people to be

at conflict....for whatever hidden agenda (artificially created

war and conflict will do quite nicely) ... someone is paying to

have that happen.... turning brother against brother is a

special favorite.... it is so clear when we consider that people

who are Most at war with each other tend to be People who

look Most exactly like each other--- where is the difference?

where is the reason to fight? cockfights, dogfights, boxing...

who REALLY wins from the battle? certainly not really the

fighters themselves, because they end up damaged or dead...

in a deeper sense... they are pawns

so...... we have a nutcase like Osama Bin-Laden.....
he is extremely useful to MANY conceivable sponsoring interests

is he a gun for hire by the private sector or by nations when

they wish to run a hidden agenda?

Osama....charismatic, smart at warfare, bonkers, dependent

upon finance from SOMEWHERE

he is a freelance nutcase, very activated... his stated purpose

can serve different powerbrokers very well.. there are MANY

Osamas in the world today this dynamic is the new face of

war ... nuclear is TOO risky ---
do most Muslims truly take his agenda seriously? no -- but we

villify Islam because of Osama, and the peaceful Muslims feel

hurt and angry, of course (as Deepak mentioned) and so the

plot thinkens

and now things are being ratcheted up a notch also with

bioloogical weapons, home-makeable and approaching nuclears

in potential desrructiveness... and so Somethig needs to be

done by ALL THE BIG BOYS your terrorist surrogates and

fetching boys are getting out of hand even the rich and

powerful arms dealers etc will not be able to survive anthrax

sevin smallpox mustard gas etc it will ruin their whole day

and make their fancy bloodmoney cars less fun

Asymmetric warfare
Asymmetric warfare
Asymmetric warfare
Asymmetric warfare

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Asymmetric warfare originally referred to war between two or

more belligerents whose relative military power differs

significantly. Contemporary military thinkers tend to broaden

this to include asymmetry of strategy or tactics; today

"asymmetric warfare" can describe a conflict in which the

resources of two belligerents differ in essence and in the

struggle, interact and attempt to exploit each other's

characteristic weaknesses. Such struggles often involve

strategies and tactics of unconventional warfare, the "weaker"

combatants attempting to use strategy to offset deficiencies in

quantity or quality.

.........................................................
Post-Cold War

In the rivalry that arose during the Cold War, small powers,

especially those described as composing the Third World, were

able to seek protection from one power or the other, or play the

powers off against each other, to try to achieve their own

national or regional goals. After the collapse of the Soviet Union

in 1991, powers that had been client states of the Soviet

Union, states that were able to gain aid and support from the

United States as bulwarks against Soviet power, and states

that had successfully played the superpowers against each

other, found themselves with fewer options to oppose the USA

or gain material advantages from either of the former rivals.

.............................................................
Israel/Palestinians

The battle between the Israelis and Palestinians is a classic

case of asymmetrical warfare. Israel has a powerful

conventional army, while the Palestinians do not have a regular

army; instead, organizations (such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad)

utilize asymmetric tactics, principally cross-border sniping and

rocket attacks, but also including suicide bombing (often

targeted at the civilian Israeli population) to combat the larger,

better equipped Israeli forces.[9] The Palestinians deploy their

forces inside civilian areas in an attempt to prevent Israel from

responding with conventional forces and tactics. Israel tends to

use focused targeting tactics, including intelligence-based

assassinations of individual leaders, and assigns the

responsibility for any resulting civilian casualties to Palestinian

forces for their use of human shielding. In addition, Israel has

adopted policies of restricting Palestinian movement, using

physical barriers [10] and of collective punishment, by

restricting supplies to Palestinian territories.[11]

............................................................
Iraq

The victory by the US-led coalition forces in the 1991 Gulf War

and the 2003 invasion of Iraq, demonstrated that training,

tactics and technology can provide overwhelming victories in

the field of battle during modern conventional warfare. After

Saddam Hussein's regime was removed from power and the 2003

occupation of Iraq began, the Iraq campaign moved into a

different type of asymmetric warfare where the coalition's use

of superior conventional warfare training, tactics and

technology were of much less use against continued opposition

from the various insurgent groups operating inside Iraq.

Asymmetric warfare and terrorism
Asymmetric warfare and terrorism
Asymmetric warfare and terrorism
Asymmetric warfare and terrorism

There are two different viewpoints on the relationship between

asymmetric warfare and terrorism. In the modern context,

asymmetric warfare is increasingly considered a component of

fourth-generation warfare. When practiced outside the LAWS

OF WAR, it is often defined as terrorism, though rarely by its

practitioners or their supporters. The other view is that

asymmetric warfare is not synonymous with terrorism. It is

typical, in an asymmetric conflict, for the stronger side to

accuse the weaker side of being bandits, pillagers or terrorists.

These accusations are usually part of propaganda campaigns,

although they are sometimes true. Some argue that asymmetric

warfare is called "terrorism" by those wishing to deny the

political aims of their weaker opponents and to exploit the

negative connotations of the word. There are those who hold

the view that "One man's terrorist is another man's freedom

fighter." An example of this is over Kashmir: the Pakistanis claim

that a war of freedom for the Kashmiris is being fought with the

Indians, who in turn, label them as terrorists. The Iraqi

insurgency is similarly labeled as terrorism by its opponents and

resistance by its supporters. One example of asymmetric

warfare involving terrorism is the use of terror by the much

lesser Mongol forces in the creation and control of the Mongol

empire. The other is the use of terrorism by the superior Nazi

forces in the Balkans, in their attempt to suppress the

resistance movement.

Guerrilla warfare
Guerrilla warfare
Guerrilla warfare
Guerrilla warfare

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Guerrilla warfare is the unconventional warfare and combat with

which a small group of combatants use mobile tactics

(ambushes, raids, etc.) to combat a larger and less mobile

formal army. The guerrilla army uses ambush (stealth and

surprise) and mobility (draw enemy forces to terrain unsuited to

them) in attacking vulnerable targets in enemy territory. This

term means "little war" in Spanish and was created during the

Peninsular War. The concept acknowledges a conflict between

armed civilians against a powerful nation state army. This tactic

was used by the Viet Cong and North Vietnam Army in the

Vietnam War. Most factions of the Iraqi Insurgency and groups

such as FARC are said to be engaged in some form of Guerrilla

warfare
