It's rare enough for an incoming President to inspire such a flood of hope and optimism, or so much relief that our long imprisonment in the political doldrums should be ending. But Barack Obama has done more than that. He has become a symbol of the rise of secular spirituality in this country, a liberated set of values that exists largely outside organized religion. Perhaps he himself is unaware of secular spirituality by that name. In lockstep with all previous Presidents, Obama must be seen attending church regularly, and that church must be close to mainstream.
However, if you consider what he stands for, Obama's worldview is more congruent with alternative theology than it is with churchgoers, 70% of whom were supporters of George Bush in his two election victories. Where organized religion has opted to stand by the right wing, millions of Americans who consider themselves spiritual have longed for peace, unity, nonviolence, and freedom that isn't imposed by the force of arms. We think Obama stands for the same values. In that regard, he is taking up the mantle of Martin Luther King< jr., who should be honored as one of Obama's spiritual forebears as much as Lincoln.
Religion was hijacked for political gain by the right wing beginning as far back as the Nixon era, yet there is a much stronger current of secular spirituality running through our history. The Founding Fathers were mostly Deists, rational Christians emerging from the Age of Enlightenment for whom a present-day Southern Baptist would have been totally foreign, if not anathema. They were tolerant believers in a benign God who transcended narrow denominations. They considered the rights of man to be the basis of enlightened belief, and when freedom was labeled an inalienable right, they meant that is was God-given, just as all men being created equal was God-given.
One senses a blessed return to rationality and the end of intolerant dogma as Obama prepares to enter the White House, but secular spirituality has expanded since the days of Jefferson and Adams. It now includes the following principles that we urge the new President to espouse (several of them he already has):
-- A spiritual duty to be benign stewards of the Earth and to preserve the ecology.
-- A responsibility to revere Nature and to be humble before it.
-- A duty to further peace among nations.
-- A pledge of nonviolence that will lead finally to total nuclear disarmament in our lifetime.
-- A refusal to use America's super power for militaristic ends.
-- A sense of compassion for the poor and wretched beset by pandemic disease, lack of political influence, and denial of basic human rights.
If Obama can further any of these values, he will be leaping miles ahead of his predecessor. Nothing about secular spirituality is radical. Most of its principles are articles of belief for millions of average Americans who have largely been shut out of politics for eight years. Our hopes for the new President won't be fulfilled until he adopts all of them. If he truly wants to reform the ways of Washington, he must extend his vision to the Congress, which under Republican domination served basically to block anything good and progressive.
But secular spirituality isn't limited to the left or the progressive movement in general. It is a national phenomenon, one that will swell steadily in the coming years, particularly among the young. Born after the divisive culture wars that gave the right wing its main chance, the younger generations yearn for new values. Obama appeals to that yearning, and we hope he takes full advantage of it. It's not good enough that he becomes the first African-American President, the first green President, or the first digital President. Nothing less than spiritual renewal is needed across the board, and there is no one of equal stature to lead it.

Yes, indeed, and if we do a search to find the first mention on IntentBlog of "secular spirituality" we find the first on December 16, 2006 written by me in a thread Beautiful Agony by Saira Mohan. Click my name to read the rest of the thread.
It was an engineered meme. Here was the comment.
The little death is a translation from the French "la petite mort" (Le Petit Mort/Le Petit Morte/La petite morte), a popular reference for a sexual orgasm. The term has generally been interpreted to describe the postorgasmic fainting spells[1] some lovers suffer from. Also it can refer to spiritual release that come with orgasm, or a short period of transcendence, an expenditure or spending of life force.
I life spent engaging in the ultimate ritual of secular spirituality with beautiful women is a life spent well....
The next mention on IntentBlog was about a month later January 13, 2007 again curiously on Must Know Terms for the 21st Century by Saira Mohan. It must be her feminine energy that does it.
I wrote:
“As we can see institutional religion has is behind all the conflict, a battle between fictitious belief systems, a struggle to maintain Illusion.
Soon the collapse of organized institutional ego warped religion and the rise of secular spirituality.
I would venture to say in the last seven years the evolution of man has speeded up 1000x.
I wonder if the so called rapture is not unlike a pattern where certain entities make a leap in consciousness and survive while entities that do not make that leap are left behind... probably destroying themselves fighting each other, their bodies ravaged by pathogens which overcome their weak immune systems, and being wiped out by nature having not become mobile and adaptable.
Those that survive, do not create conflict, boost their immune systems, and develop housing and infrastructure that can adapt to climate and geological changes. They adopt new decentralized energy systems.

Notice the mention of Universal Participatory Self Government. It was in the Wisdom Based Presidency Papers and you know who read those.
Also in that same thread One wrote.

Apostasy (from Greek αποστασία, meaning a defection or revolt , from απο, apo, "away, apart", στασις, stasis, "standing") is a term generally employed to describe the formal renunciation of one's religion, especially if the motive is deemed unworthy. In a technical sense, as used sometimes by sociologists without the sometimes pejorative connotations of the word, the term refers to renunciation and criticism of, or opposition to one's former religion. One who commits apostasy is an apostate, or one who apostatises. In older Western literature, the term typically referred to baptized Christians who left their faith. Apostasy is generally not a self-definition: very few former believers call themselves apostates and they generally consider this term to be a pejorative. One of the possible reasons for this renunciation is loss of faith; another is the alleged failure of religious indoctrination and/or brainwashing.
A common realization is that religion has been used to control and suppress the masses and the original esoteric spiritual teachings upon which many were originally based have been obscured and perverted by egoic intention. Much of the doctrine and teaching has come to be seen as a fabrication of man, if not distorted, and not that of a divine source.
Religious institutions that use fear and practice judgment are now considered by some to be the manifestation of the Antichrist, which uses fear as opposed to love as a modus operandi, depending on a popular ignorance for there existence. As predicted by the wise in the past many have been fooled, and it has led to destructive fundamentalism, terrorism, and the religious right in politics.

This epiphany has given rise to a mass movement towards spirituality and away from the illusions perpetuated by many organized religions. In conjunction with this new awareness many are seeking the original insights, wisdom, and knowledge born of a spiritual source and divine intention, that were suppressed, destroyed and often claimed to be heresy by various religious institutions.
Many of the ancient and modern scripts empower the individual, and imply a direct connection to omnipotent being that does not require another entity as an intermediary.
In a world of war there can only be One victory
That is Self Realization and the dissolution of ignorance. The collapse of the Illusion of separation, an Illusion that is necessary for war and conflict, that gives birth to all pain and suffering.
As you might have guessed One is implementing with that intention, it's already in operation and grows in magnitude, from the source intelligence it spreads in an exponential manner. It only requires that a mind be exposed, the truth becomes self evident.
Every day the Illusion disintegrates more and more, while the struggle grows by the few to preserve it.
But One wonders if in the end, only a small percentage will survive, those that did not cling to the Illusion and end with it...

What that all really means is that religions need to evolve and dump the dogma. Of course they are all null and void now anyway since the divine is in the flesh. If they do that we won't really be able to tell the difference between them.
Thats why One wrote The Divine Concise Religion.

If all the Religions evolved you wouldn't be able to tell them apart, you wouldn't even need to differentiate.
One simple religion is to focus on the divine concept through out the day, center your self, and be religious about it, maybe a dozen times a day, you could even add a little ritual, and look to where the Sun rises and think about the sun and how it provides and asks nothing, connect to the source, the infinite mind. Then just deal with the present moment and do within your power, and go with the flow... and everything works out.
This is the “Concise Religion” for today’s short attention spans and brevity of thought for those that want to simply worship and love all of creation and recognize the collective intelligence behind it. A finite mind connected to the infinite mind is a balanced mind. Think of it as tapping into the right brain, the non-linear processing mind if your skeptical as to the existance of some all pervading field level intelligence.
So what is the Divine concept? That the Divine is you, and all the seemingly “other”, that the witness is all one being, both noun and verb; and that all are of one body, that this is why the right hand pulls the thorn from the left foot and the heart pumps blood to every cell. That there is only one source of love and it is unconditional, we can choose to channel it or not. If we do not then we cut ourselves off from the source. Then problems occur. The universe does not have problems, it only creates challenges and the resources to meet the challenges are always there if you are connected to the source, often found within and witnessed without.
There you go an entire religion in three paragraphs; we can call them the Trinity. We just throw in a virtual church and we have a new religion all the rest is science. Live the one truth, not the fictions.

Dear EveryOne, everything is happening perfectly as disturbing and difficult as that is sometimes. We can only hope that we evolve faster than the impetus can arise to prompt us, negating it’s need to do so, and therefore it’s cause.
On Tuesday One shall begin Armageddon, not the Hollywood version by the way, and it is true skirmishes had already begun in the minds of some. For historical purposes we need to announce a day, for the volume of it to begin as a result of divine instigation. Why tomorrow? There is one with authority that will be embracing the truth for those that have failed to do so.
As I have spoken of often in the past, this battle is mostly fought in your minds, each individual mind. It is the war between fiction and truth, reality and illusion. Although it can spill out into the tangible realm; the degree in which it does this depends on how successful we are at first winning the battle in our individual minds. We must let go of the old system and establish the new, quickly, embrace the truth and discard the fictions.
Back on 09-05-2000 the opening of the seven seals was announced on Shirley Maclaine’s web site. On a Sunday 8-14-2005 the Apocalypse began. Now we have Armageddon and later the Resurrection of a long lost truth found, and a Paradise restored.
Many people did not hear what openly gay Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson said as he delivered the invocation at yesterday's We Are One inauguration concert.
here it is below....
"O God of our many understandings, we pray that you will bless us with tears –- tears for a world in which over a billion people exist on less than a dollar a day, where young women in many lands are beaten and raped for wanting an education, and thousands die daily from malnutrition, malaria, and AIDS."
He asked God to:
"Bless us with patience and the knowledge that none of what ails us will be fixed anytime soon, and the understanding that our new president is a human being, not a messiah."
And, Robinson prayed:
"Please, God, keep him (Obama) safe. We know we ask too much of our presidents, and we’re asking far too much of this one. We implore you, O good and great God, to keep him safe. Hold him in the palm of your hand, that he might do the work we have called him to do, that he might find joy in this impossible calling, and that in the end, he might lead us as a nation to a place of integrity, prosperity, and peace. Amen."
it is kind of nice to read this simple prayer especially after all the hoopla going on and around "the great President-Elect Obama."....
let us start with one foot in front of the other and see how that goes...

Nice video. I have a little offering I'd like others to consider. It is called the Doctrine of Two Spirits and it is a guide to solving human problems through the understanding of what the wisdom of the ages really means. Religion is deception and ignorance and the opposite of truth and wisdom, which is what the ancient sages were always talking about. Religious leaders have tried to mislead and misdirect people from this knowledge for a very long time.

This information is what the Vatican and leaders of all three faiths of Abraham have long been hiding. It is verifiably encoded in the symbology of their canons and earlier sources. That is why they always freak out when events like the Da Vinci code and the Dead Sea Scrolls provide evidence about their deceptions via an increased understanding of the symbology. That is why secret societies and others are likewise so obsessed by it. Some are trying to solve it while others are trying to hide the truth that it proves. It is also why they are deathly afraid of what I have been exposing in recent years. Looks like karma has finally caught up to them and is knocking hard at their still closed doors.

It's interesting that the Declaration of Independence is also based on a secular spirituality that supports universal values. For example, the phrase,
"all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness"
This is a very spiritual statement, without being an endorsement of organized religion
