Being a mother is not always pretty

We approach this subject from quite different points of view, historical and spiritual, but arrive at some similar conclusions. Jesus’ message was about self-knowledge and compassion in the real world, here and now. His earliest followers experienced his “presence” through their own compassionate acts.

The notes of the symphony started to gather, as each heart responded to this primeval call that reverberates surreptitiously in profundity, beyond mind and understanding. We all came, along with our exquisite mosaic of role, personality, ego and purpose. A bouquet of quarks, a possibility of expression, we were, congregating Being.

We played the first notes of a symphony, creating a love field woven with our own fragility, our deep recognition of oneness. It spilled in embraces, in garlands of smiles and kisses, to adorn the hidden Beloved who in silent song invited us, to become aware for a moment, of the unified field of existence we really are, and to rejoice at the infinite possibilities of creating from this vision field, a new world.

What Have They Got Against Girls' Sports?

posted by Joe Kelly on July 19, 2007 at 04:51 AM

A dad named John Humphreys recently wrote to me upon learning that the Department of Education is weakening Title IX, the federal civil rights law granting fair access to sports for girls and women. He asked “Why ever should there be any darn sex discrimination at all?” Like John, I’m stumped, too. But the fact of the matter is that discrimination still exists—which means we parents and others who care about girls need to do something about it.

Nothing more deliciously evokes memories of home to expatriate Indians than mangoes. I remember how my grandfather, my Bapuji, used to coddle a crate of Alphonsos during mango season in Bombay, turning each blushing fruit in its nest of straw with great respect and affection, doling out the ripe ones to us waiting kids to carry into the kitchen where my grandmother or aunt sliced them up for us to slip into upturned mouths.

Gaza: What Just Happened and What It Means for Us and the World

For many years, Tikkun has argued that a goal of Israeli policy has been to strengthen Hamas sufficiently so that it's power in Palestine could be used as an irrefutable 'proof" to the West that Palestinians couldn't be trusted to run a state of their own, and that therefore all it could be allowed would be the bantistun version of a state--little Palestinian enclaves cut off from each other by a sourrounding Israeli Army and the Israeli settlers.
