From fashion icon to smoking-prevention activist, Christy Turlington Burns has successfully created a diverse and multi-talented career as an entrepreneur, role model and spokesperson in the cosmetic, fashion, business and political spheres. She has graced every magazine cover from Vogue to Time, and today she is an advocate for global relief and international aid, women's health, and empowerment for young women. Turlington Burns is widely recognized as a prominent voice for yoga and a healthier way of life. Christy's long term interest in yoga has culminated in the creation of two successful businesses - nuala and Sundari, an Ayurvedic skincare line - as well as the best selling book Living Yoga: Creating a Life Practice (Hyperion, 2002).
Through her company Turly, Inc. and a charitable foundation she personally funds, Christy supports numerous other causes focusing on international relief and women's and children's issues. She has partnered with progressive organizations such as Peacewomen.org, V-Day, The One Campaign, UNICEF, Cancer Care, and the Norbulingka Institute (a haven and school in India dedicated to the preservation of Tibetan culture). She is a spokesperson for (RED) and an ambassador for CARE.
She currently resides in New York City with her husband and two children.
