Making fun of peoples' sexuality

Someone at work sent me an e-mail with a music video. The video was of a middle-aged white male hanging out on a farm singing a country song about how being gay is wrong. So I watch it for maybe 20 seconds or so, and I’m kind of puzzled.

Existing Alongside Others' Opinions

Despite recent (difficult) events in my life, things are working themselves out really well. I think most of us here at IB know, intellectually, that anything is possible, but turning lemons into lemonade doesn’t come as second nature to all of us.

Current Feelings

Anybody else feel like giving up? I’m going through some major unpleasantness in my life, and I’m just tired of it. I’m so uncomfortable; it really sucks to be me. I’m missing all of my deadlines, can’t keep up with my blogs, etc. I’m completely distracted.

Irritation

My yoga class is such great fodder for these blogs! Today we did a set of postures, breath and sound that was supposed to have several results: (a) loosen our toes, ankles and knees, (b) stimulate our thyroid & parathyroid glands, and (c) irritate us.

Witnessing the Improbable

Yesterday my boyfriend and I were driving downtown. We were coming up to a red light when a group of four college boys on bikes came up behind our car sort of weaving in and out of the slowing traffic at this busy intersection. Right in front of us one of the boys turned around to look behind him just as the car in front of us stopped. He totally face planted it into the back of the SUV.

My friends gave me this book about a year ago; I can’t remember the name. The author asked for people around the country to send him anonymous postcards containing whatever secret they wanted to tell. The book is full of those postcards.

A Guy in a Speedo

I was at a hotel in a small town and there was a middle-aged man wearing a Speedo sitting out by the pool with his wife and children. I thought to myself, “Oh, he must be European.” And as I sat in the lounge off the lobby I heard another person say exactly the same thing.

Not having as much physical contact with people these days is starting to get to me. Used to be I would come home from a busy day at work completely exhausted, having massaged four or more people, and having been very intimate with them as they worked through their panchakarma (detoxification) process.
Wanted: Kickball Players

I sent an e-mail to all of my work mates to see if anyone wanted to get together one night a week and join an adult kickball league for the ten-week summer season. Fun, right? No, apparently not. No one even mentioned it until I ran into “Bobby” hours later in the break room – someone I’ve rarely even interacted with on the job, so I was surprised.

Contemplating My Navel

I think my favorite yoga pose is a lazy-person’s version of plow (halasana). Instead of having my legs and spine straight I like to slump into it, round my back and let my knees hang down by my ears. (This could be a proper yoga pose on its own, I’m not sure.) I just really like it and could easily hang out in that position for five minutes or more.
