Street Children In India

One of the benefits of the success of Slumdog Millionaire is that it is raising awareness of the plight of children who live in poverty. Personally, I have been approached by many people asking if the scenes in the film are realistic.

Transition To Intent.com

Dear Intentblog Friends

Happy New Year to all of you!

As many of you know, I have spent the last year building our new site, www.intent.com . We are thrilled with the progress the site has made, and the reaction we have received from many of you, as well as new members. Intent is still in beta - and very slow at times, we know! - but overall we believe it has helped enhance the original vision of Intentblog, as well. We have more bloggers and have been able to create a system where everyone can blog.

So the time has come - after several years - for us to transition Intentblog to Intent. I have so much love for the community that has developed here - this site was a hobby that really manifested into something beautiful. My hope is that Intent.com will prove to realize the vision of a global community sharing stories and supporting each others intentions in a meaningful way.

In the coming days, we will be making the transition from this site - by shutting off comments here, and by redirecting www.intentblog.com to the blog roll page on Intent.com .

While many of you have shifted to Intent already, we know that for some change is difficult. We hope, however, that you will find the tools and content at Intent helpful. I personally also have enjoyed reading blogs by many of you there already, and hope that the social network helps you connect with people you choose to be in touch with in a more efficient way.

To get more acquainted with Intent, the team has written a few blogs that may be helpful.

For any support questions/concerns please refer to our detailed FAQs page.

Thanks again for making Intentblog such a special place - we are excited about the next evolution!

Elizabeth Hasselbeck and Glitter Glass Whats His Face (updated)

In one sentence, Elizabeth Hasselbeck refers to Glitter Glass What's His Face to light a bowl of incense and then proceeds to say the United States does good work around the world. A completely racist comment that demonstrates the deeper cultural issues the US faces around the world.

How can we help individuals faced with financial insecurity in these uncertain times?

A report that a man in Southern California shot his 3 kids, wife, mother in law and himself today was a shock. Apparently, he was financially distraught and had been jobless for months, and had written about his choices in facing this challenge. His psychosis resulted in killing his entire family as perhaps the most honorable escape. Personally, this story shook me given that I could relate culturally to the man - Karthik Rajaram - and his Indian family: married with 3 children, one son a Fulbright Scholar at UCLA. He had an MBA and had worked for well known firms.
